    • 64' Xisco lifts the ball into the West Ham box and now it is his time to claim a handball - against Behrami. The referee says no foul.
    • 61' Bassong with a nice run into the box down the left. His cross is cleared as far as Owen, whose shot is blocked by former Magpie Scott Parker.

    • 59' Ilunga pulls back a low cross from the left to the edge of the box for DI MICHELE!! Has a great chance to complete his hat-trick but fires over!
    • 56' Coloccini meets a Newcastle corner with a thumping header that comes back off the bar, but the whistle has already gone for a foul.
    • 53' GOAL!!!! It's three for West Ham, Matthew Etherington!! Di Michele is sent clear down the right channel and completely scuffs his shot, but the ball curls fortunately into the path of Etherington who finishes from six yards!

    • 37' GOAL!!! Two for West Ham, two for Di Michele!! He misses a one-on-one, but then gets the ball back, lifts it over his man and drills a left-foot volley into the corner! Great stuff, albeit against the run of play.

    • 33' This game has changed completely - it is all Newcastle and has been for the last 10 minutes or so. They have yet to test Robert Green, though.
    • 30' Cacapa finds Geremi at the edge of the West Ham box. His shot is blocked but the ball is soon back with Newcastle, who are playing well here.
    • 28' Geremi aims another diagonal cross into the area and Faubert heads behind for a corner. Owen wins the head but it is weak and wide from the England man.
    • 26' Geremi's cross is cleared for a Newcastle corner, but it is a slightly aimless delivery into the box and West Ham defend it with ease.
    • 25' Another good cross from Etherington on the left but he cannot connect with a forward. Now Di Michele crosses deep.. too deep. Newcastle clear.
    • 24' Etherington sprints into space down the left and clips across towards Cole in the middle.... just over his head!
    • 22' This is better from Newcastle, and Duff is screaming for a penalty - he thinks there was a handball. Referee Phil Dowd says no dice. The ball did hit Parker's arms but it was not deliberate.
    • 20' Butt finds Xisco, who attempts to pull the trigger but has his shot blocked at the edge of the box.
    • 18' Carlton Cole digs out a shot from the edge of the box... and curls it well wide. He is a former Chelsea team-mate of Zola, of course.
    • 17' West Ham free-kick 25 yards out... it's Noble again, and it's over the bar again.
    • 15' Chris Hughton cuts a lonely figure down on the Newcastle bench. He is about the only coach yet to get fired by Mike Ashley...
    • 14' Oh, forgot to mention the West Ham shirts. They are extraordinary. Last week their sponsors were covered up by a patch of material - today there is a white square of material in the middle of their shirts with their squad number written on it. Basically, they look like they are about to enter the egg-and-spoon race at a school sports day.
    • 12' Michael Owen appears to time his run perfectly and drags his shot just wide. In fact, the linesman has already (incorrectly) flagged for offside.
    • 11' Mark Noble steps up and curls the ball over the bar. Not the best effort.

    • 8' GOAL!!! David Di Michele gets the Gianfranco Zola era off to a flyer!! He goes on a mazy dribble to the edge of the box then gets a massive slice of luck - his shot bounces down off Taylor then loops up and over Given into the net!
    • 5' Ilunga knocks a long ball down the left channel for Di Michele, whose first touch is not a great one and takes him wide. He shoots from out wide but can't score from there.
    • 4' Carlton Cole spins past Coloccini and bears down on goal, but the Argentine recovers well!
    • 2' Matthew Etherington has a shot blocked by David Edgar and it is all West Ham in the opening exchanges.
