  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • West Ham
    • Portsmouth
    • 90+2 Last chance falls to Kanu, he stretches but just can't get on the end of Belhadj's centre - that would have been harsh of the Hammers. Who register their first clean sheet since Feb 23.
    • 90' Jekyll and Hyde that bloke. What a claim from England's no 1 whilst under pressure from Carlton Cole.
    • 89' James make a hash (again) of a Etherington cross and the ball bounces around the box. Before it's lamped away.
    • 86' Now it's Portsmouth turn to break and Kanu plays in Defoe, who under pressure from Upson gets an effort on target. Saved by Green.
    • 85' Great claim from Green...he throws long and West Ham win a corner. Upson heads over.
    • 82' West Ham have a free-kick. Bellamy delivers high into the six yard box. James tries to claim but makes a hash of it. Atkinson saves his blushes and blows for a free-kick.
    • 80' Defoe tries to get on the end of a Portsmouth break but is adjudged to be offside.
    • 78' Kanu replaces Crouch and Mullins is on for Parker.
    • 76' The hectic pace begins to slow and there are a flurry of substitutions in the offing.
    • 72' Traore fires over from distance.
    • 70' Portsmouth are happy to sit back and then break. Former Hammer Defoe looks sharp - his run and shot is comfortably saved by Green but he is dangerous.
    • 67' Cole crosses for Behrami but it's easy for James. West Ham will be kicking themselves if they don't take advantage of this possession.
    • 65' West Ham are now playing some great stuff!! First Bellamy fizzes wide and then Parker. A goal is in the offing.
    • 62' Faubert for Ilunga!
    • 58' The game has really opened up now and the Irons look the more likely.
    • 56' Carlton Cole makes himself space but Jounes Kaboul makes a great recovery challenge to deny him.
    • 54' Behrami wins a free-kick in a dangerous area. Bellamy strikes the bar!! He had beaten James but not the woodwork, unlucky sir!! Great effort.
    • 50' And now it's West Ham's turn to break - Bellamy with a tame effort after latching onto a Cole through ball.
    • 48' Portsmouth have exploded into action in this second half...Defoe has two efforts saved by Green. The first, a driven effort is beaten away by Green, while the 'keeper just manages to tip, his second, a cute chip over the bar.
    • 46' And we're back. Sears is replaced by Etherington.
    • 45' Portsmouth have the last chance of the half!! And it comes from a corner, Collins heading from underneath his own bar as Diop hovered and then nailed the centre-back. As expected that hurts, and the defender is out on his back as the half time whistle goes.
    • 44' West Ham, following good forward play between Bellamy and Sears, win a corner but the delivery is poor and that pretty much sums up the first half. Both teams have played well but ultimately the final ball hasn't been good enough.
    • 42' Bahrami returns the favour and takes down Pamarot. Belhadj swings over the free-kick and Diop heads wide, not a great chance but in the context of this game it was a decent opportunity.
    • 40 Noe Pamarot is booked for a horrendous challenge on Behrami. Horrendous.
    • 39' Cole has - yet another - half a chance. Bellamy swings over the cross, but the big forward can't get the desired contact
    • 37' West Ham break but Cole is crowded out and the ball trickles out for a Portsmouth goal-kick.
    • 34' Defoe picks up a loose ball, skips past Behrami and fires goal-wards. It's heading in but Ilunga makes an unorthodox block with his heel.
    • 32' Following a Diop free-kick, Crouch has a half chance but makes a bit of a hash of it in front of England coach Fabio Capello.
    • 29' West Ham are now beginning to look more threatening, Parker sends through a probing ball but David James snuffs out the threat posed by Bellamy. It's really high tempo stuff out there.
    • 25' After a superb run, Traore wins Portsmouth a corner which they make little of. The Hammers break and Jack Collison flashes an effort wide...he probably should have played Carlton Cole in.
    • 22' After a meandering run, Glenn Johnson stings the palms of Green...Defoe follows up and is roundly booed by the home crowd.
    • 19' Following that crunching tackle from Scott Parker Diarra can't continue and is replaced by loanee Armand Traore.
    • 17' West Ham are playing some very intricate stuff but without looking that threatening...hold on, Bellamy has half a chance - if that - his bicycle kick is tame and floats away from goal.
    • 14' Lassana Diarra is on the end of some heavy handed West Ham treatment.
    • 12' West Ham old boy Defoe almost snatches a goal following great work from another former Hammer, Glenn Johnson. The right back beating his man and sliding a perfectly weighted ball in behind Upson but Defoe, with Rob Green closing in, snatched at it - and wide it went.
    • 8' After a shaky start, West Ham are definitely having the better of it and have a penalty appeal waved away by Atkinson - it did hit Distin's arm.
    • 6' Carlton Cole rises highest to tamely head a Lucas Neill cross straight at David James.
    • 3' Portsmouth and Jermain Defoe make an early nuisance of themselves. The Irons are a team low on confidence and it shows. They are showing very little attacking intent.
    • 1' And referee Martin Atkinson gets us underway at the Boleyn Ground. Portsmouth manager Tony Adams will hope to build on last week's victory over Sunderland, while Gianfranco Zola will hope to add to the solitary point his side has gained from the last possible18.
    • - West Ham: Green, Neill, Collins, Upson, Ilunga, Behrami, Parker, Collison, Sears, Cole, Bellamy. Portsmouth: James, Johnson, Kaboul, Distin, Bouba Diop, Pamarot, Davis, Diarra, Belhadj, Crouch, Defoe.
    • - The teams are in! Younes Kaboul replaces the injured Sol Campbell for Portsmouth, while West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola puts out an adventurous starting eleven with Sears, Bellamy and the returning Carlton Cole in a three-pronged attack. Valon Behrami also returns to start following a calf problem.
