    • - Thanks for joining us this afternoon, and stay with us all weekend for more action - including all the LIVE updates from tomorrow's decisive final day of the championship.
    • 90'+3 The referee puts the game out of its misery by blowing the final whistle, and that's not only a fair result but a solid point that helps both sides.
    • 90'+1 That looks like being the last chance of the match as the game gets bogged down in midfield again.
    • 89' A desperate goalmouth scramble in the Wigan box looks like it might yield a goal - the ball is thumped clear to give Zaki a chance to run down in the far box, but Jaaskelainen gets to it just in time.
    • 87' Cattermole manages to get his name in the book just before the end.
    • 85' Corner for Wigan flies in, but is headed clear at the near post - and fans are already leaving in droves.
    • 84' Gary Megson is on his feet looking nervous, but it just doesn't feel like there will be anything more for him now...
    • 82' AMAZING CHANCE FOR BOLTON - BUT NO! Elmander jumps to meet Davies's cross, and gets to the ball well on the edge of the six-yard box... but his great-looking header thunders into the bar!!! If ever the deadlock was to be broken you feel it should have been there...
    • 80' We seem to be heading for a draw now, it just seems like neither side will make the breakthrough. They've been lively enough to give value for the ticket, but n goals.
    • 78' Riga comes on for Cohen, who has had a decent match.
    • 77' A lovely spell of pressure from Wigan, but there are endless balls drifting through the area with nobody able to latch on to them. Zaki was almost criminally negligent in not getting to Rodallega's ball in from the right just there.
    • 75' A cross from the right wing by Kevin Davies leads to Elmader having a great chance to end his 1000#plus; minute dry spell - but he blunders the ball over like a Sunday league player still drunk from the night before.
    • 73' Fresh legs for Wigan, as Mido makes way for Amr Zaki. He earns warm applause on his first appearance in some time.
    • 71' Brown has a long-range pop for Wigan that is powerfully-struck but slides wide to the right.
    • 70' Taylor goes in the book for shirt pulling. And quite right too - he wouldn't want to impose extra ironing on the Wigan back-room staff.
    • 69' Wigan's turn to push forward - they're probing and prodding for attacking space...
    • 68' As the legs tire the match opens up wide... A goal looks much more likely now.
    • 66' From the resulting corner Cohen heads just over...
    • 65' So close from Elmander!!!! A long shot from the striker - who is suffering a colossal barren spell - ricochets off a defender's foot and spins just wide of the left post with Kirkland well beaten!
    • 63' Cattermole challenges for a long ball in from Mido on the flanks, but Jussi gets it out well.
    • 62' Mido has a terrific opportunity, with a clear shot - but he drags it across goal.
    • 60' Wigan's turn to charge back up the pitch now, as the home side win a corner - but Bolton clear the danger with ease. They look much more solid now, and seem the more likely to get something going.
    • 58' Great chance for McCann, the Bolton man beating the offside trap to meet the ball at the far post - but Kirkland is aware to the danger and blocks him off! Terrific anticipation by Wigan gloveman.
    • 57' A quiet spell in the game lets us catch you up with the news that Paul Scharner has come off with a knock to be replaced by Erik Edman.
    • 56' The first corner is cleared off for a second one, which Kirkland meets well to collect and end the danger.
    • 55' Bolton push up and win a corner, their first promsing attacking move of the half.
    • 53' Wigan pump a long ball into the box and Rodallega jabs at it, drawing a comfortable take by Jaaskelainen.
    • 53' Wigan win a couple of corners, and though the balls in look good none of the strike force can get to the ball.
    • 52' Both sides are putting in plenty of work, but nobody can find the space and the killer ball to create a really clear-cut chance. You feel that any goals will have to come from a goalmouth scramble or a set piece.
    • 50' Muamba gets a booking for bringing down Valencia - he wags his finger at the Wigan man to suggest a dive, but the ref is not impressed.
    • 48' A brief injury break after a mid-air collision between two players gives way to a Wigan move upfield, and the hosts win a free kick from the right half. It's over-hit and wasted.
    • 47' One half-time change to report, as Boyce has come on to replace Melchiot.
    • 46' We're back in action at the JJB. Can either side break the deadlock? Considering that a point would be no disaster for either manager it might get tighter from here on.
    • - And that's half-time - some decent entertainment on offer here, with both sides enjoying decent chances to score.
    • 45'+2 Kevin Davies finds the net with a brilliant strike after Elmader wins a free kick - but it's adjudged offside! That looked okay, it must have been a close decision.
    • 45' Cross in from N'Zogbia on the left is back-heeled goalwards by Cattermole, but without power and it's gathered well.
    • 44' A stunnning left-foot effort long-range effort from Mido draws an even more breathtaking save from Jussi. Outstanding football from both players.
    • 42' The game slows down once more, giving us time to ponder the effort that's gone in to the thick-thin lines of the intricate mowing pattern on the pitch here at the JJB. That must take some effort.
    • 40' A nice chance falls for Elmander, cutting in from the right and thundering a lovely right-foot effort which beats Kirkland but is a yard wide of near post.
    • 38' The shots count is equally favourable to Wigan, mostly from that purple patch early in the half.
    • 37' The game has slowed down slightly now, but Wigan are still domianting possession for the most part. The stats show they've had just under 60 per cent of the ball.
    • 35' Nice ball in from Samuel but headed clear by Bramble.
    • 33' The man assaulted by Mido, McCann, had just come off hitting a long range effort that flew well wide.
    • 31' Mido earns a spot in the book after a crude and cynical shoulder barge into a Bolton player's back. He then has the temerity to argue with the ref!
    • 30' Long throw in from Bolton is well cleared by the defence.
    • 29' Kevin Davies chases a ball passed back across the box to Kirland, and beats the Wigan keeper to the ball... but that's all, and it deflects harmlessly off for a goal kick.
    • 27' McCann earns himself a spot in the book for a foul on Brown.
    • 26' Another Wigan surge forward, and Rodallega connects with an overhead kick - but it drifts just wide.
    • 25' Bolton snuff out the danger again, and push upfield.
    • 24' Long free kick upfirld by Wigan, cleared for a throw-in...
    • 22' Wigan push back up the pitch for the first time in a few minutes in yet another attacking wave - this has been damn good entertainment, it must be said - but Bolton shut the back door.
    • 20' Half a chance falls for Cahill but Jljjloyd clears the ball.
    • 18' Matthew Taylor gets clobbered a bit in a 50-50 challenge with Valencia, and needs a bit of treatment. He hobbles a bit as he gets up but soon shakes it off and looks fine.
    • 16' Chris Kirkland is wearing a baseball cap. Which might be within the rules, and highly practical on a sunny day... but just seems wrong somehow. Isn't putting up/not putting up with the sun in your eyes one of the perks of winning the toss at the start of the match?
    • 14' Bolton win a corner and Tamir Cohen gets to it, lobbing a shot over the keeper... but also just over the bar.
    • 12' A defensive mix-up by Bolton gives Mido a chance on his left foot, but he draws yet another terrific stop from an inspired Jaaskelainen, who has already saved about four certain goals already.
    • 11' First attacking move of the match from the golden-shirted Bolton boys, and the ball ends up being deflected onto the bar from Cahill's shot - just when he seemed to have the goal at his mercy!
    • 9' Bolton are yet to make an incursion into Wigan's half - the hosts come up again, Mido shooting and drawing yet another nice save from Jaskaleinen.
    • 7' More pressure from Wigan - the home side are looking good - and they get another free kick in from the left, but again the Bolton keeper is equal to it.
    • 5' A free kick comes in from Wigan, but Jussi jumps up Superman-style to punch clear.
    • 4' A bit of argy bargy between a couple of the players here, and the referee has a sten word with about six of the players. Nice bolshy start on a beautiful afternoon, eh?
    • 2' The match kicks off... and within a couple of minutes there's a great chance for Wigan as Rodallega fires a brilliant right-foot effort in. Terrific save from Jaaskelainen, but he goes down injured.
    • - The teams are trotting out on to the pitch in brilliant Wigan sunshine, and we're just a minute or two away from kick-off...
    • - "If we beat Wigan and the other results go our way, we will be able to relax," said Gary Megson earlier this week. So there you go: a win this afternoon and the Megster will be off to a cottage in Devon for the rest of May.
    • - And Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Cahill, Andrew O'Brien, Samuel, Kevin Davies, Muamba, McCann, Cohen, Taylor, Elmander. Subs: Al Habsi, Puygrenier, Hunt, Makukula, Smolarek, Basham, Riga
    • - The teams are in. Wigan first: Kirkland, Melchiot, Bramble, Scharner, Figueroa, Valencia, Brown, Cattermole, N'Zogbia, Rodallega, Mido. Subs: Pollitt, Edman, Watson, De Ridder, Koumas, Boyce, Zaki
    • - Bolton, on the other hand, could really do with a three-pointer this afternoon to start nailing down their Premier League football status for next term.
    • - Wigan are pretty much safe from the drop already, although you'd need a PhD in Advanced Football Statistics to prove beyond doubt that they can't be overtaken by decide if they still have a mathematical chance of being overtaken by almost half the league in the space of three matches.
    • - Afternoon all - we're here at the JJB for this solid mid-table clash between Wigan and Bolton.

  1. To Steve Bruce, you played the couple Mido _ Rodllega always and again, you lost 4 & 4 & 2 and more, both never scored and will not, what you are waiting for? if you not playing Zaki the full game he's rusted and never score. The fatal mistake you done in the half season transfers you left Taylor / Hesky / Placius and brought that useless couple, since then Zaki never scored and will not score unless playing the full game with Valencia without Mido _ Rodllega.
