    Fulham unable to crack Wigan

Wigan and Fulham both had to settle for a point as their mid-table Premier League clash ended 0-0 at the JJB Stadium. More

    • Fulham
    • 90' It had really run out of steam at the end. Fulham fail to win on the road again while Wigan's long unbeaten home record continues. Both sides will be happy enough with a point - it looks like that should see Wigan stay in 7th and Fulham keep 10th spot.
    • 90' The ref brings the match to an end.
    • 90' In the end Figueroa takes it short - that just about sums up their approach in this second half. They haven't gone for it at all.
    • 89' But Fulham are going to make a final change first. Gera comes on for Dempsey on the left of midfield.
    • 88' Wigan have a chance to get the ball into the box from a long throw now.
    • 85' Wigan have another shout for a penalty as Zaki collapses just inside the box. Nothing giving again though.
    • 82' The ball's headed clear then played back in towards Nevland, who miscontrols on the chest - and the ball goes out for a goalkick.
    • 81' Johnson does well to win a corner for the visitors at the other end.
    • 80' ...which is headed over for a goalkick to Fulham.
    • 79' Wigan appeal for a penalty after Dacourt dived into a tackle on N'Zogbia on the right byline. I've seen them given - but the ref only gives a corner.
    • 77' Figueroa has another go from long range, but it goes miles over the bar. Poor effort.
    • 74' Fulham make their second change of the afternoon. Erik Nevland - who came off the bench to score twice last week - replaces Zamora in attack. Can the Norwegian make the difference again?
    • 72' Figueroa shoots at the Fulham goal, but a deflection takes the sting out of it and Schwarzer collects.
    • 71' Zamora beats the Wigan offside trap to find bags of space on the left flank. He delivers a teasing cross towards Johnson in the centre - and the former Everton man is inches away from getting on to it. But he just fails to make contact, and the ball flies across the six-yard box.
    • 69' Figueroa is booked for a lunge on Zamora as the striker looked to break clear down the left wing. He would have been away there...
    • 68' Scharner and Murphy collide as they challenge for a 50-50 ball. The Austrian comes off the worse and is hobbling. He should be OK to continue though.
    • 67' Wigan aren't really going for this. With all their injuries, they look happy to hang on for a point.
    • 65' Wigan again clear easily enough.
    • 64' Andy Johnson has collapsed in a heap inside the penalty area again. But Maynor Figueroa made a great tackle on the striker on the left of the Wigan box - and to be fair to AJ, he didn't really appeal for a penalty. The ball goes for a corner though.
    • 63' Rodallega whips in a great cross from the right byline, but Hangeland gets to it first and heads clear. The Colombian looks lively.
    • 59' Here's another telling stat for you: there have been only nine goals in the past seven league meetings between these two sides...
    • 57' This Zaki fella isn't afraid to have a shot. He has a go from the edge of the box - but it's straight at Schwarzer.
    • 55' Zamora looks to thread a ball through for Johnson, but Kirkland gets to it first.
    • 54' And you shouldn't be surprised that Wigan dealt with that set-piece. As any self-respecting stato will know only too well, Wigan have conceded just one headed goal all season - that's fewer than any other Premier League side.
    • 53' Wigan clear from the corner.
    • 52' Zamora finds himself in loads of space on the left of the Fulham box. He dallies with it when he should have crossed for Johnson in the centre. He does win a corner though.
    • 51' Fulham stand firm to deal with the free-kick.
    • 50' John Pantsil picks up a booking for a bad foul on Zaki wide on the left. The resulting free-kick gives the hosts a chance to cross into the area.
    • 49' In the absence of bonafide goalmouth action, I'm going to bombard you with stats: first up, did you know that Fulham last won a competitive match at Wigan in September 1992? Bet you didn't.
    • 48' Zaki breaks down the left after being teed up by Rodallega and almost sneaks a shot past Schwarzer at the near post. But it hits the side-netting.
    • 46' And we're up and running again...
    • - The teams are out for the second half.
    • 45' That's it for the first half as the ref blows his whistle for the interval. An entertaining game so far. Fulham deserve to be ahead - can they keep their momentum to claim a first away win of the season in the second half? Join us in 15 minutes to find out...
    • 45' Fulham are forced into making a change now. Dacourt comes on for his debut in place of the injured Etuhu.
    • 45' Wigan launch another long throw into the Fulham box. It's knocked on for Koumas just inside the area - but the sub volleys narrowly wide!
    • 44' Etuhu has picked up a knock for Fulham too. He's receiving treatment from the physio.
    • 43' It's not even half-time and Wigan have made all of their substitutions. Mido hobbles off, with his compatriot Zaki coming on in attack.
    • 41' Roy Keane is watching this match from the stands today. Both these sides could do with him out there to take hold of the midfield.
    • 40' Zamora somehow heads the corner over from a yard out! He didn't know a lot about the header - it hit the top of his head and bounced over.
    • 39' Can Fulham liven things up now? They win a corner on the left after good work by Johnson.
    • 38' The game's gone off the ball a bit.
    • 37' Charles Insomnia has been completely anonymous so far.
    • 35' Clint Dempsey gets the first booking of the match for a trip on Melchiot as the Wigan skipper burst forward down the right.
    • 33' Rodallega heads Koumas's cross from the right down for Mido, but Fulham boot the ball away just in time.
    • 29' Interesting tactic from Fulham - they're playing with Dempsey and Davies tucked in from the wings, so it's almost a 4-2-2-2 formation.
    • 27' Fulham have had the better of this so far, but Wigan have had two really good chances now.
    • 25' Figueroa breaks down the left and whips in a lovely cross for Mido in the six-yard box. The Egyptian gets his head to it - but he sends it wide! What a chance!
    • 24' ...which Fulham clear.
    • 23' Rodallega slides a ball through for Mido, who shoots towards the near post. Schwarzer turns it behind for a corner.
    • 19' Davies curls the resulting corner into the box, and Hangeland heads wide! Another decent chance for the visitors.
    • 18' Wigan make a double substitution! Michael Brown has been struggling with an injury, and new signing Ben Watson comes on. Antonio Valencia comes off too, with Jason Koumas coming on in his place. Valencia must have had an injury too - he's Wigan's best player, so that must be the reason for the change.
    • 17' Andy Johnson shows excellent close control on the edge of the box and cuts the ball back for Zamora, who side-foots for the bottom corner. But Kirkland makes a brilliant save low to his right to turn it behind for a corner.
    • 16' Fulham clear from the corner.
    • 15' Mido shoots for Wigan - it's deflected for a corner.
    • 15' Replays show Lee Probert was right to not give that penalty. It was an accidental clash of legs and outside the area.
    • 14' Fulham appeal for a penalty! Andy Johnson raced on to a long ball and collided with a Wigan defender. I think it was Bramble. But ref Lee Probert waves away the appeals.
    • 13' It's a long throw...Mido heads the ball on at the near post and it falls nicely for Rodallega, who heads over the bar from five yards out! Great chance for the new signing - he should have scored.
    • 12' Wigan have had more of the ball for the past couple of minutes. They win a throw-in deep in Fulham's half on the left.
    • 9' Bobby Zamora receives the ball on the edge of the Wigan area, strolls past two defenders to find space on the left of the box and dinks a shot marginally wide of Kirkland's left-hand post. More good play from Fulham.
    • 8' Fulham have yet to win away this season, but they're looking the better side here so far.
    • 6' Another chance for Fulham! Andy Johnson does well on the right flank to chase a long pass down and cut the ball back for Danny Murphy on the edge of the Wigan box. Murphy shoots low - and wide!
    • 4' Not much flow to the match so far. Lots of tackles flying in though.
    • 1' Early chance for Fulham! They hoof the ball forward from kick-off and it falls kindly for Simon Davies on the right side of the area, but the Welshman drags his half-volley wide. Good start for the visitors.
    • 1' We're under way at the JJB.
    • - Fulham, meanwhile, stick with a familiar line-up. Olly Dacourt is on the bench, with Etuhu continuing in midfield alongside skipper Danny Murphy.
    • - Team news for Wigan: Charles N'Zogbia (definitely not Insomnia) makes his Latics debut, while Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega starts up front in place of Zaki, who's dropped to the bench.
    • - Welcome to minute-by-minute commentary of Wigan v Fulham in the Premier League. This must just about be the only game this afternoon where neither team is involved in a relegation or title fight. The teams are on the pitch...
