    • 20' Rooney comes inside from the left and plays a pass to the feet of Carrick at the edge of the box. He works half a yard for himself but drags his shot well wide.
    • 19' Rooney plays an ingenious reverse through-ball for Anderson who just cannot latch on to it. Kingson clears for Wigan.
    • 18' Evans slips again and now Rodallega races forward. He cuts in from the left and fires a low, left-footed shot straight at Van der Sar.
    • 17' Carlos Tevez is sitting on the bench in a puffer jacket looking a bit miserable. No sign of Kia Joorabchian or his mobile phone as yet..
    • 15' Scholes handballs a yard outside the right edge of the United box, from where N'Zogbia delivers the free-kick... Van der Sar helps it over for a corner!
    • 14' Both teams are passing the ball around nicely on the deck. An attractive game with chances at both ends.
    • 13' Anderson shows he is not afraid to stick the foot in, battling in midfield with Michael Brown and ensuring United emerge with the ball.

    • 8' Nemanja Vidic is yelling at his defensive colleagues, who have not had the most solid start. That Valencia chance was incredible.. United were at a standstill as the Ecuadorean raced by.
    • 6' United finally get a decent spell of possession after that bright Wigan start. Scholes finds Rooney in the box, who is flagged just offside.
    • 5' Wigan work the ball nicely to Brown at the edge of the United box, and he sees his shot blocked.
    • 4' That's why Lee Cattermole is there.. he slides in perfectly on the advancing Berbatov and nicks the ball away from him.
    • 2' Valencia is away! He races clear down the right channel with Vidic in hot pursuit, and goes for a chip.. WIDE!! What a chance for Wigan - he just nicked it away from Evans around halfway and sprinted away..
    • 2' Rain is falling fairly lightly on the pitch, which is slick and should play extremely well. A very good surface - far from last season's pitch, which appeared to impersonate Kevin Pietersen's Ashes 2005 hairdo.
    • 1' Wigan kick off, playing from right to left in their blue and white home kit. United are in red, white and black.
    • - The teams come out at a three-quarters full JJB Stadium. A good atmosphere here, and the fans would frankly love to derail United's title bid.
    • - Steve Bruce, in his pre-match interview, says absolutely nothing at all. He'd like to win tonight. Apparently it is "quite ironic" that Wigan are playing United tonight.

    • - Manchester United will be just one point from the title if they win tonight and the omens are good. In 31 games against Big Four teams in the top flight, Wigan have won none, collecting four out of a possible 93 points. That is galactically bad.
    • - Wigan team news: Chris Kirkland is still out injured, while Steve Bruce opts for Hugo Rodallega as a lone striker. Plenty of tacklers in midfield, with Lee Cattermole, Michael Brown and Paul Scharner all in there.
    • - Manchester United team news: There is no place for Rio Ferdinand, who is still troubled by his back, while Carlos Tevez returns to the bench. Dimitar Berbatov returns to play up front, while Paul Scholes, John O'Shea and Wayne Rooney are also back.

  3. Hi out there,

This is a special message to Sir Alex Ferguson, yesterday's match at JJB station had been a narrow escape,Wigan nearly win the match if it was not the likes of Tevez who had came in time to save the team.

I am not sure, why Tevez always comes in the second half i think he should be given enough room to play the full 90 minutes.Let Anderson be a substitute to Tevez and not otherwise.

Man. UTD needs only a draw(i.e a point)to maintain their three successive champion title.Let team strive to win the rest of the matches with Arsenal & Hull city and not only go in search of a draw. The other players could be given the chance to play since they have being on the bench for quite a while.

And by the way Liverpool without the title is better than Man U on head to head rule this year. So long as the record has not been broken, let honor still be given to whom it is due. Check out the record, Liverpool has just lost twice this year against Man. U's 4 times.
