    • - Allardyce is without the injured Ryan Nelsen, as well as Stephen Warnock who has left the club for Aston Villa. Brett Emerton is not fully recovered from injury and starts on the bench, leaving Gael Divet in the centre of defence. Stiker Franco di Santo is still out but there is a start for new signing Pascal Chimbonda.
    • - The Hammers meanwhile started with a decent win at Wolves and were unlucky not to get anything from a 2-1 defeat to in-form Spurs last time out. Gianfranco Zola has got his side playing some decent football and they will want to put themselves into the top half of the table with a second away win of the season.
    • - After defeats in their opening two games, Blackburn cannot afford to go down again today. If theylose again it will be the first time in Premier League history they have failed to pick up a single point from their first three games.
