    • 90+2 Mark Clattenburg puts Burnley out of their misery, 3-0 to Chelsea, who go top!
    • 90' Two minutes added time being played.
    • 88' Ball over the top frees Kalou, he has the better of Bikey and chips it past Jensen and this will be four but what a clearance by Mears! The ex-sprinter appeared from nowhere and, in one movement, spins on the goal line to clip it away from just inside the far post!
    • 86' Kalou on the right just slips it into Anelka but Bikey slides across as he prepares to finish and Anelka puts it against him and wide. Bikey AND Jensen are injured as Chelsea prepare the corner. It is half-cleared and drops to BELLETTI but deflected for a corner again.
    • 85' Belletti challenges Guerrero and frees Kalou but his cross is poor and Burnley clear.
    • 84' Cole handles near the corner flag and Burnley have a free-kick deep in Chelsea territory. Headed away at the near post. Still with Burnley though as they knock it around midfield.
    • 83' CHELSEA SUB: Ballack comes off to a standing ovation. Mikel on.
    • 82' Neat Chelsea move, Lampard and Ballack combine, the latter threads it through to ANELKA WHO SLIDES IT PAST JENSEN but he is offside.
    • 81' Essien to Kalou on the left who just helps it on to Anelka, but he is offside.
    • 80' Not a great delivery by Deco but still with Chelsea, Lampard wide to Belletti who stumbles and cannot get up in time to prevent it going out for a goal kick.
    • 79' Guerrero is on for Burnley and concedes a corner after almost handling in the box under pressure from Kalou.
    • 78' Good near-post delivery and Ballack flies in with the flick but a super save again from Jensen! Corner to Chelsea. Jensen has been one of the best players on the park today.
    • 77' Anelka on the left, back to Lampard who feeds Essien on the edge of the D, he shapes to shoot, swivels one way and hammers in a superb drive but a great tip away by Jensen!

    • - Nicolas Anelka celebrates scoring the 1st Chelsea goal against Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
    • 75' Carlisle wins a free-kick on the Burnley right, but it is held up for a CHELSEA SUB: Drogba comes off for Kalou.
    • 74' BURNLEY SUB: Veteran Alexander comes off for McDonald.
    • 73' Fletcher to Blake, now playing inside, but his wide pass goes well ahead of Mears and out for a throw.
    • 72' Alexander comes forward centre-left and puts an aimless ball far post that Cech has time to bring down and play out with his feet.
    • 70' Burnley on a rare foray forward, Fletcher on the edge of the box, plays it to McCann, a one-two and Fletcher shoots but well wide.
    • 69' Drogba tries an ambitious lob but straight down the keeper's throat.
    • 68' Corner to Chelsea on the right, good delivery and Drogba with the header from the edge of the six-yard box but well positioned by Jensen to hold on to the ball.
    • 67' Essien on the ball, he slides it through for Lampard, it is blocked but falls to Essien again who bursts towards goal and drills in a left-foot shot towards the bottom right but well saved by Jensen diving low, corner.
    • 65' CHELSEA SUB: Belletti comes on for Bosingwa.
    • 64' Poor Bikey has been in the wars today, he needs more treatment on that knee.
    • 63' Deco catches Bikey on the knee not no free-kick as it was accidental, the ball spun up as both tried to control it.
    • 62' Drogba and Anelka combine again and Drogba has a crack from the left-hand side of the box but blocked and Burnley clear.
    • 61' Lampard slides to Anelka down the left but Burnley are back in numbers and Elliott clears to touch.
    • 60' Deco with a cheeky flick, now Lampard to play it in to Drogba, who backheels it back to Lampard who puts it back into the box for Drogba but he fires over. Lovely one-touch play, shame about the finish.
    • 59' BURNLEY SUB: Gudjonsson on for Paterson, who missed a sitter in the first half.
    • 58' Bikey this time gets the better of Drogba surging down the right but, after he clears, limps heavily from that earlier challenge to deny Anelka
    • 57' McCann swings it in and almost an error by Cech who punches the ball downwards off the head of a team-mate, but it spins fortunately into his arms.
    • 56' Promising move by Burnley sees Fletcher win a corner on the right. Carlisle gets up for it.
    • 54' Ballack on the ball, slips it through to Anelka who is at an angle but gets clear of Bikey but good defending from the Cameroonian to put him off with the block, forcing Anelka to power it over.
    • 52' Wide from Essien to Cole on the left, a one-two with Lampard and it bounces in front of Alexander AND COLE FLIES IN WITH A HALF-VOLLEY INTO THE TOP RIGHT! CRACKING GOAL! 3-0.
    • 51' Bit of pressure from Burnley but Chelsea are back in numbers. Eventually Blake wins a throw on the left but Chelsea can bring it clear. Lampard bursts forward and glides towards goal, he lofts it to Anelka free in the box but the ball just evades him. He recovers it so still with Chelsea...
    • 50' An unnecessary shot from that left-wing free-kick by the hungry and greedy Drogba, well over.
    • 49' Cole flies down the left and Mears chops him down, yellow card and a free-kick in a dangerous position.
    • 47' Cole wins it on the left, the ball is played long over to Anelka who flicks on, Burnley half-clear but Chelsea are rampant and Anelka down the left with a brilliant disguised pass to Lampard who crosses over the six-yard box, Jensen is isolated, McCann flies across but cannot get a touch AND BALLACK WITH THE DIVING HEADER MAKES IT 2-0! Game, set and match. Two goals in quick succession and Chelsea are cruising.
    • 46' Deco on halfway clips a long one to Drogba who has been played onside and turns but mis-controls and it cannons high into the arms of Jensen. That was a chance as he was onside and clean through.
    • 46' Second half underway!!
    • - Quite a few of you think Drogba was offside when Essien played him through, Andre Bikey certainly did, with his hand in the air as the Ivorian hit the byline to cross.
    • - Chelsea have had 58 % of the ball, seven shots on target to Burnley's zero and four off target to the Clarets' two. The hosts have had three corners, their visitors none, while both have committed four fouls apiece. So a deserved lead, on balance.
    • 45+3 Half-time, Chelsea 1-0 up thanks to Nicolas Anelka's second goal in Premier League three games this season.
    • 45+2 Essien slides it right-centre from half-way, Drogba races away from Bikey's arm-in-the-air, Chelsea could be in here AND DROGBA DRILLS IT ACROSS JENSEN FOR ANELKA AT THE FAR POST IN OFF THE POST AND 1-0! Chelsea take the lead right on the stroke of half-time.
    • 45+1 Mears on the right but his deep cross is poor, really poor, and Cech claims unchallenged. He hurls it out, now Deco on the edge of the box, Anelka has it back to goal but is crowded by three claret shirts, he tries a pirouette but Burnley clear.
    • 45' Burnley have a bit of the ball now but a furious Blake demands why it was played so far in front of his 33-year-old legs and out to touch.
    • 44' Burnley lose the ball in their own half, Drogba powers down the left away from Fletcher, holds him off and feeds LAMPARD WHO MUST FINISH but he takes a touch and it spins off his shin into the grateful arms of Jensen!
    • 43' Cole gets in down the left again but another poor cross is cleared. A couple of slide tackles by Essien and Carvalho make sure Chelsea retain possession as Deco swings another cross in.
    • 42' Ballack goes down like a sack of potatoes in the box and the ref waves him to get up. Chelsea's pressure is incessant now.
    • 40' A touch of a lull in the half, with Burnley working very hard to restrict Chelsea, who are patiently toiling in search of an opener.
    • 39' Paterson spins off Terry and wins a free-kick, he was going to race on for a one-two with Fletcher, pretty cynical from Terry but no card.
    • 37' Drogba with a good ball across goal but just too high for Anelka. Now Ballack on the right, high to Drogba but he cannot shoot, back to Essien who shoots miles over.
    • 36' Ballack gets it on the left but wastes a good position with a terrible cross.
    • 35' Chelsea are dominating now, as one would expect. Burnley have barely had a sniff for 20 minutes or so.
    • 34' Anelka to Deco but his long-range shot is gobbled up by The Beast that is Brian Jensen.
    • 33' Elliott loses the ball, played by Deco to Essien into Drogba, he takes one man out with a brilliant piece of skill, Bikey slips but a great last-ditch tackle from Carlisle to nick it away from him.
    • 32' Ballack wide to Drogba who crosses, it hits Carlisle on the hip and Chelsea optimistically shout for a penalty but I think Clattenburg actually just laughs at them.
    • 31' Alexander heads the corner clear but Chelsea come again, Essien's shot is blocked, now Ballack has it on the left, it breaks TO LAMPARD IN THE AREA BUT THE DRIVE IS PARRIED BY JENSEN!
    • 30' Anelka comes forward on the right, inside to Lampard who finds Cole on the overlap but his shot is blocked by Mears for a corner, which Lampard will take.
    • 29' Carvalho with an unsure defensive header that goes out for as throw. Alexander has it, now Mears, he crosses but it is headed clear.
    • 28' Essien surges forward in typical style but he over-hits the cross out for a goal kick.
    • 27' Terry plays it wide to Cole who hits the byline and puts in a useless cross but was offside anyway.
    • 25' McCann gets in down the left but his cross is too close to Cech. Chelsea attack now, wide with Bosingwa who cuts inside but the one-two with Deco is foiled by Bikey.
    • 24' Drogba gets it on the edge of the box but his shot is wide.
    • 23' Deco swings in the corner, Carvalho flies in BUT TERRY CONTROLS AND FIRES IT ON GOAL AND JENSEN PARRIES!
    • 22' A bit scrappy but Essien now gets his foot on it, Drogba gets the ball, shrugs off Bikey, spins inside Mears and bends it far post but deflected wide! Corner.
    • 21' Bosingwa plays it in for Deco but it gets caught under his feet and Alexander can clear. Mistake from Elliot, slid through to Ballack who turns brilliantly past Bikey and must score but his chip is well parried by Jensen! Great save!
    • 20' McCann and Blake combine, Paterson tries a cross but too close to Cech who claims ahead of Fletcher.
    • 19' Lampard plays it long for Cole down the left but his legs do not take him as far.
    • 18' Carvalho hoofs the ball away as Burnley try to exploit their power-play. The replay shows Carlisle clearly tripped Drogba.
    • 17' Inside to Drogba, a cute backheel which frees Lampard who has space to shoot but threads a through ball to Anelka that is too close to Jensen, great from Drogba but he should have shot. Drogba on the left centre comes towards the box and Carlisle slides in, no foul though despite DrogbaÂ’s protests.
    • 16' Anelka on the right with a good ball inside to Lampard but his first touch is oddly poor and the ball drifts wide, preventing the shot. Now Ballack has it on the right but he cannot get a meaningful cross in and Burnley have a goal kick.
    • 15' Alexander knocks a cross from Chelsea back towards Jensen, who initially miscontrols but works it out and kills the ball before launching it downfield.
    • 14' Blake is back defending at left-back to get the ball back to Jensen when Bosingwa was chasing.
    • 13' Lampard with a good turn and high ball down the right but Jordan heads it away from Anelka and back to the keeper Jensen.
    • 12' Essien plays it long and Anelka gives chase down the left, he plays it back to Lampard but his shot is blocked, Chelsea roar "handball!!" but the ref waves it away. Chelsea come again but Drogba gives away a free-kick in the Burnley box.
    • 11' Deco swings it over but Carvalho heads well clear of the bar. Burnley attack down the left but Essien is back defending...
    • 10' Bosingwa gallops down the right and wins a corner off a hesitant piece of defending from Jordan.
    • 9' Terry is dilly-dallying at the back, Mears robs him, he's got a tight angle BUT HE SPOTS PATERSON, PATERSON IS FREE AND MUST SCORE BUT HE SOMEHOW PUTS IT WIDE!! How did he not score? Shocking miss and his head is in his hands.
    • 8' Burnley counter, played through to McCann who is in but Terry slides across, it ricochets off him and flies over!
    • 7' BIkey with a terrible error, Anelka is in, he is clean through, he must score but a shocking second touch takes it into Jensen's arms when he should have finished or gone round him!
    • 6' Drogba and Lampard are over it, Deco too, Drogba goes first and hits it well over. Give them to Deco now - he is very good at free-kicks, they say.
    • 5' Carlisle stretches to clear a dangerous ball into the box. A dive by Ballack but the ref awards a free-kick 30 yards out. Alexander is annoyed.
    • 4' Ballack gets it on the left, he runs at Carlisle, Drogba is free on the wing but it's a decoy run and Ballack is in to drill it across goal but just beyond Anelka flying in!
    • 3' Poor ball by Ballack down the right is dealt with by Jordan. Fletcher wins a long one, Mears pumps it into the channel and Terry heads away for a throw. The ball is sent to Anelka who cuts inside from the right and drills a left-foot shot on goal but low and easy for Jensen.
    • 2' Bosingwa is dispossessed by Blake but Essien has it, Bosingwa has it again on the right and puts in a low, near-post cross but hacked behind for a corner by Carlisle. No, goal-kick, he played it back of Drogba.
    • 1' Deco slides it wide to Cole on the left who drills in a low cross but Carlisle clears.
    • 1' Match underway at Stamford Bridge!
    • - For Burnley a 4-5-1 is expected as, while normally a striker, Paterson will hug the left wing and protect Jordan as much as he cuts in to support Fletcher.
    • - Realistically today it will be a Milan-esque Christmas Tree, much loved by players of Football Manager. Deco and Anelka playing off Drogba, with an athletic and skilful midfield backing of Lamps, Essien and Ballack.
    • - Carlo Ancelotti on his formation before kick-off: "Sometimes they can play as a diamond and sometimes flat. It depends on the situation, and the position of Nicolas Anelka - sometimes he will play as a striker, and sometimes on the wing."
    • - Jakob predicts the same scoreline - in Chelsea's favour. nlmh thinks Chelsea will win 9-0, an equally unlikely result to Josh's prediction. Whatever happened to a keenly-contested 2-1 eh?
    • - Josh somewhat optimistically thinks Burnley will win 3-0: while an upset could be on the cards, a total spanking will just not happen. Right?
    • - Young wingers Eagles and Gurrero stay on the Burnley bench as Owen Coyle opts for his usual line-up of experienced battlers. Jordan continues at left-back though, with Kalvenes left on the bench.
    • - No messing around for Chelsea then! All the top stars start, as full-strength a first XI as Carlo Ancelotti can turn out! Nothing in the way of width though - the midfield is Lampard, Ballack, Deco and Essien. There is experience and ability abound and Didier Drogba is partnered by Nicolas Anelka too.
    • - Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Tyne and Wear)
    • - Burnley team: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Bikey, Jordan, Alexander, Blake, Elliott, McCann, Paterson, Steven Fletcher; Subs: Penny, Kalvenes, McDonald, Gudjonsson, Thompson, Guerrero, Eagles
    • - Chelsea team: Cech, Bosingwa, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Essien, Ballack, Deco, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba; Subs: Hilario, Ivanovic, Mikel, Malouda, Kalou, Sturridge, Belletti
    • - Burnley have won just two of their last 12 league away games (excluding play-offs). Burnley and Chelsea have not met in the league since the 1982-83 season in Division Two where both meetings ended as home wins.
    • - Chelsea have won their last 11 Premier League games in a row and have taken 43 points from the last 48 available. Chelsea have hit 57 shots this season, more than any other side.
    • - Burnley knocked Chelsea out of last season's Carling Cup 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 final score at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea's scorer in that game was Didier Drogba, who has netted three goals in three league games this season.
    • - Richard Eckersley is the Premier League's only suspended player this weekend after getting sent off in the Carling Cup. He would be unlikely to start anyway, with Owen Coyle expected to name an unchanged line-up from that which beat Everton. More here!
    • - Carlo Ancelotti has no new injury concerns, but may make room for Michael Essien in his starting line-up at the expense of Florent Malouda or Michael Ballack. Joe Cole could appear from the bench, but Andriy Shevchenko has been told he can leave the club. Some injury news - Yuri Zhirkov is back in training but Joe Cole needs a few more weeks.
