    • 90'+9 There goes the final whistle! And Chelsea maintain their 100 per cent start to the new season, thanks to goals by Cole, Ballack and Drogba!
    • 90'+7 Crouch finds the back of the net, brilliantly, but he's flagged offside! And rightly so...
    • 90'+5 Kalou is through now... but Cudicini stands firm and makes the save with his legs!
    • 90'+4 Jenas mistimes a challenge on Essien and he goes into the book. Few will argue about that.
    • 90'+2 Crouch attempts a spectacular scissor kick but he doesn't really connect and Chelsea are able clear.
    • 90' Eight minutes of added time to be played.
    • 90' Another change now as Fabio Borini replaces Anelka... this is the Italian's first taste of Premier League football.
    • 88' Kalou into the box... he's at a tight angle, but he still fires goalwards! AGAINST THE POST! And into the back of Cudicini before going behind for a corner!
    • 85' Drog's trying to hobble off himself, but in the end he opts for the stretcher... for once, this one could be serious. Kalou comes on to replace him for the final moments of the game.
    • 83' Now Drogba goes down after scuffing a shot into the ground and wide of the mark! Oh dear, he's gone down and there'll be another delay.
    • 82' Off goes Bassong, to a rapturous reception... and on comes Kranjcar with Huddlestone to move into defence.
    • 79' Bassong is still down as the medics take their time preparing to lift him off the pitch. Better to be safe than sorry with neck injuries.
    • 77' Bassong has stayed down... there's a flurry of medical staff around him as a neck brace is applied... the pitch came up to smack him in the face as he fell and it doesn't look like he'll play any further part today.
    • 76' Anelka clashes with Bassong... could go either way so the ref decides to give a goal kick...
    • 73' Oooh! Mikel fires a lovely volley on target! Cudicini stretches to get there, but the ball squirms under his body and continues its path towards goal! Cudicini does well to scramble back and spare his blushes!
    • 70' Crouch fires over the bar now! He's keen to make an impact against the club he supported as a boy.
    • 68' Oooh! Palacios launches a spectacular volley from Crouch's knock down inches wide of the post with Cech beaten! Spurs deserve a goal...
    • 67' Peter Crouch makes an entrance... Defoe is the man to make way.
    • 65' Lampard steps up... against the wall! In fact, it hits Assou-Ekotto's outstretched arm! No penalty though.
    • 64' Drogba and Bassong enmark on some Greco-Roman wrestling on the edge of the Spurs box now... and referee Howard Webb awards a free-kick to Chelsea, even though he maybe should have played advantage.
    • 63' GOAL! ANOTHER FOR CHELSEA! It's Drogba! There's a real element of fortune to it as he runs onto Cole's long ball... he holds off Corluka until the Croat eventually slides in to make a challenge... but he succeeds in only diverting the ball past Cudicini who had come off his line to narrow the angle on Drogba! The striker simply nips round the other side of the keeper before applying the finishing touch into an empty net!
    • 62' Time for a change for Chelsea... Mikel comes on to replace Ballack.
    • 61' Bosingwa brings Cudicini into action again, the Portuguese cutting inside and letting off a decent strike that the keeper is forced to hold.
    • 59' That's harsh on Spurs, who just three minutes before the goal had a clear penalty claim turned down.
    • 58' GOAL! BALLACK MAKES IT TWO FOR CHELSEA! Anelka plays the ball across to Drogba who brings it down and fires goalwards... Cudicini saves, but Lampard retreives the ball and sends it back into the six yard box where Ballack slides the ball home! 2-0!
    • 56' Defoe now gets on the end of a Hutton cross into the centre! Corner to Spurs! Good little spell from the visitors!
    • 55' Keane hares off into the Chelsea box... Carvalho dives in and Keane goes to ground! But the ref waves play on! Surely a booking for Keane then? No! Replays show that it should have been a spot kick...
    • 53' Neat passing play by Chelsea fashions a shooting chance for Ballack... but he doesn't make the most of the opportunity and fires high into the stands behind Cudicini's goal.
    • 52' More lovely stuff from Drogba as he rolls Hutton... he tries to come back inside, but it doesn't pay off and the move breaks down.
    • 50' Drogba does really well to get to the by-line... positive run by the Ivorian, but his cross evades all in the box and the danger passes.
    • 48' On comes Alan Hutton to replace King, who really doesn't have any luck at all with injuries.
    • 47' King tries to turn, but he simply goes down in a heap... that's not good. He beats his fist into the turf and that'll be the end of his evening. Meanwhile Lampard fires wide of the mark as Chelsea take advantage of King's inability to get back.
    • 46' Here we go again! Back underway at the Bridge!
    • 45'+1 And there goes the half-time whistle to bring an end to the opening period, which has been open and entertaining. Chelsea take a 1-0 lead in with them at the break thanks to Ashley Cole's diving header!
    • 44' Drogba sends a free-kick into the wall as one minute of added time is announced.
    • 42' Lampard links up well with Bosingwa on the Chelsea right... he thinks he's won a corner as Assou-Ekotto slides in, but the linesman signals a goal kick!
    • 41' That's late from Palacios on Malouda as the Chelsea man looks to break... but he escapes a booking.
    • 40' Lampard hits the free-kick goalwards... it falls to Drogba, but it's as if he's not expecting it and he allows the ball to skid under his boot and out for a goal kick.
    • 39' Drogba hits the deck again, this time under a challenge by Defoe.... he's play acting again, and Terry realises it. The skipper has a word with him and tells him to get up. Free-kick nevertheless!
    • 38' Big hand ball shout in the Spurs box... turned down and Spurs break with Lennon! But he runs into trouble and Essien makes the crucial challenge!
    • 37' Defoe shows his frustration as he grabs Essien by the head... free-kick to the hosts...
    • 36' Jenas is put on the deck by Drogba... it's not serious but there's no need for Keane to put the ball out. But he does.
    • 35' That's a great challenge by Lampard to win the ball and set Chelsea off on another attack.
    • 33' Straight down to the other end and Defoe is upended by a strong challenge by Terry... the ref takes a long hard look at it, but opts to wave play on!
    • 32' GOAL! CHELSEA TAKE THE LEAD! And it's Ashley Cole who dives in to meet Drogba's bouncing cross to the far post with a header that flashes past Cudicini! 1-0 Chelsea!
    • 32' Malouda sends in a dangerous looking ball towards Ballack but Corluka is there to give him a nudge and head clear for Spurs!
    • 31' Defoe goes down in the centre of the pitch under a shoulder charge from Essien... no whistle and Chelsea can break...
    • 29' Defoe very nearly gets on the end of a pass through... just a slight deflection off Carvalho means he's wrong footed.
    • 28' Spurs are enjoying a bit of poessession in the middle of the park at the moment...
    • 26' At the other end, Malouda lets fly, but he snatches at his effort and it bounces well wide of Cudicini's goal.
    • 25' Now it's Palacios again who tries his luck from distance... but it's blocked before it can reach Cech in the Chelsea goal.
    • 24' Assou-Ekotto and Bosingwa tussle for a ball that is rolling out for a Spurs goal kick... the pair tumble to the ground but it's all handshakes afterwards.
    • 22' Brilliant from Anelka as he controls the ball on his thigh before unleashing a powerful shot from a tight angle that hits the side netting!
    • 21' Lovely stuff by Essien as he shows some nimble feet in the centre of midfield... he sprays it out to Bosingwa, but he turns inside and into trouble.
    • 19' Bosingwa again centres... but there's no one there this time.
    • 17' Lampard at the other end! Oooh! His header goes just wide! Great start to this game... real end to end stuff!
    • 16' JENAS! Oooh! Inches wide! What a strike... Spurs' midfielders are really getting forward well!
    • 15' Cole skips into the Spurs box at the other end... Corluka sticks out a boot... Cole goes down! But no penalty, and it's actually a decent challenge!
    • 13' HUDDLESTONE! Super strike from the edge of the box by the midfielder! Again Cech is forced into action! Corner to Spurs...
    • 11' Defoe is through here! Palacios threads it through for the in-form striker... but he hits Cech's legs! Real chance goes begging!
    • 9' Spurs looking to get forward now... but Corluka's ball forward goes all the way through to Cech.
    • 7' OFF THE BAR! What an effort by Bosingwa! Superb strike from just outside the corner of the box that rattles the angle of post and bar!
    • 4' Drobga is flagged offside as he looks to race onto a ball through... he doesn't look too happy about that one and replays suggest he may have a point.
    • 3' Nothing comes of the corner... but promising stuff from Chelsea so far!
    • 2' Chelsea start well... Bosingwa puts in a brilliant ball in the 'corridor of uncertainty'! But Bassong is there with a none too uncertain clearance! Corner for the hosts!
    • 1' Here we go! Underway at the Bridge!
    • - Teams: Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Ballack, Essien, Lampard, Malouda, Anelka, Drogba. Subs: Hilario, Ivanovic, Mikel, Kalou, Belletti, Hutchinson, Borini. Tottenham: Cudicini, Corluka, King, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Jenas, Huddlestone, Palacios, Defoe, Keane. Subs: Gomes, Hutton, Bentley, Crouch, Naughton, Giovani, Kranjcar. Referee: Howard Webb (S Yorkshire).
    • - Chelsea welcome back Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa as they were suspended for the midweek Champions League win over Porto.
    • - Joe Cole (knee), Yuri Zhirkov (knee) and Paulo Ferreira (knee) are all out with coach Carlo Ancelotti saving their return for next week's Carling Cup tie with Queens Park Rangers.
    • - Defender Alex is still struggling with a groin injury and also misses out.
    • - Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes stepped up his comeback from a groin injury by playing a friendly against QPR this week; however he is on the bench with Carlo Cudicini still between the sticks.
    • - Full-back Gareth Bale also played following an operation in June to repair a medial meniscal tear on his left knee - he doesn't make the squad though.
    • - Luka Modric (fibula), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) are still sidelined.
    • - Team news to follow as and when we get it.
    • - Spurs have won both of their away matches this season. They have not won their opening three Premier League away matches of the season in 18 years since winning their first three away games in old Division One in 1991-92.
    • - If they win today they will set a new top flight club record of 11 consecutive wins. They will also become only the fourth team in Premier League history to win 11 successive matches behind Arsenal and Manchester United.
    • - Chelsea have won their opening five Premier League matches of the season. If they win today they will be only the third team in Premier League history to win their first six matches of the season after Newcastle United in 1994-95 and themselves who won their first nine matches under Jose Mourinho in 2005-06.
    • - Tottenham have not won in their last 19 league visits to Chelsea, since a 2-1 victory in old Division One in February 1990. This is their equal-longest ongoing run without an away win against another PL team – they have also not won in their last 19 PL visits to Manchester United.
    • - These two sides have met 122 times in the league. Chelsea have won 51, Tottenham Hotspur 42 and there have been 29 draws.
    • - Chelsea can extend their lead at the top of the table with a result, while victory for Spurs will see Harry Redknapp's side draw level with the Blues on 15 points.
    • - Chelsea welcome Tottenham to Stamford Bridge as two of the top five meet in one of the most fiercely contested derbies in the country.

  5. John Obi Mikel is the worst player in England! Premier League Apps: 88; Premier League goals: ZERO! He's a talentless water-carrier and even the overrated water-carrier Essien isn't as good in the DM role as Makelele was! Ballack needs too much time and space and is really slow, awful and past it, far worse than Veron! Malouda had about 3 decent games last season, when the title had already been lost, and is very poor, Zhirkov can't fail to be an improvement on the left, if he ever plays again. Kalou isn't good enough and Anelka is a has been who was only good at Arsenal, 10 years ago! Chelsea have poor strength in depth, which will be highlighted when their Africans play in the African Nations Cup, or by injuries, and their young players aren't even close to making the team and usually leave on free transfers. TRUE.
