    • 79' Warnock again gets down the right and his low cross finds Carew, but the striker cannot turn the ball inside the near post and the chance goes begging.
    • 78' O'Neill and Moyes are barking orders at their sides from the touchline as both teams seek the winner.

    • 65' Agbonlahor and Baines are furious with each other as they challenge for an aerial ball with elbows flying everywhere - it is becoming pretty scrappy now.
    • 64' Lucas Neill clears the ball away under pressure from Young as Warnock continues to bomb on down the Villa left.
    • 63' Petrov and Cahill clash in the Everton half and the Australian receives yet another ticking off from the referee!

    • 58' Agbonlahor wins a corner for Villa after a pacey run down the right and Warnock will drift this in.
    • 57' Sidwell plays an intelligent ball through to Young but Distin is again very sharply across to clear.
    • 56' Fellaini and Sidwell clash once more in midfield and the referee intervenes as they discuss the matter in an animated fashion!
    • 55' Rodwell collides with Petrov on halfway, but that was just clumsy from the Everton man as Collins lumps the free kick upfield.
    • 54' Ashley Young looks in trouble after that poor challenge from Cahill, and he limps along the touchline with the physio.
    • 53' Cuellar lumps the ball clear after Everton attack through Rodwell.
    • 52' Villa keep the ball patiently in their half, but with three forwards on the field, they get the ball upfield.
    • 51' Tim Cahill is shown a yellow card for a cynical trip on Ashley Young, who gets gingerly to his feet after having his run ended abruptly.

    • 45+2' The half-time whistle goes at Goodison Park and Everton have ended it on a real high courtesy of Bilyaletdinov's stoppage-time opener! The Russian was composed in netting the opener and Everton deserve their lead on the balance of play.
    • 45+1' GOAL!!! Cahill beats Dunne to the ball out on the right before his looping cross deflects off Yakubu and into the path of the waiting Bilyaletdinov, who coolly strokes his second Everton goal into the far corner!

    • 43' Cahill and Rodwell combine in the centre of midfield but the latter's through ball to Yakubu goes a stray.
    • 42' Petrov finds Heskey, but Villa's attacking play has lacked urgency so far and Everton have looked comfortable at the back on the whole.
    • 41' Baines is again quickly across to deny Young, with he and Milner swapping wings at will.
    • 40' Cahill drops deep for Everton to collect the ball and spray it around, but Moyes is urging him to play further forward.

    • 33' Warnock and Sidwell combine to good effect down the left before the latter drills a low shot wide.
    • 32' Both Martin O'Neill and David Moyes are anxiously patrolling the touchline as the match remains very finely poised.
    • 31' Another extremely soft yellow card is awarded, this time to Cuellar who simply stands his ground as Baines buys a free kick!
    • 30' Cahill jumps too early as a precise delivery is whipped in by Baines but Everton continue to look dangerous in the air.
    • 29' Heitinga dinks a delicate through ball to Yakubu, who meets it first time with a strong header but cannot direct it on target and Friedel has a goal kick.

    • 26' Young stands over the ball with Warnock and Milner before a dangerous free kick is finally taken.

    • 23' Villa play the ball around patiently at the back as they bide their time before launching another attack.
    • 22' Warnock is shown a yellow card for absolutely nothing - that was pure and simple mistaken identity as Sidwell fouls Rodwell!

    • 20' Joseph Yobo loses the ball to Sidwell but his shot then goes over.
    • 19' Baines's effort strikes the top of the wall, but from the rebound, Bilyaletdinov draws Cuellar into conceding another free kick.

    • 17' Johnny Heitinga concedes a free kick 35 yards away from his goal which Young whips in but cannot find the head of Richard Dunne at the far post - good opportunity.
    • 16' Fellaini is proving a real nuisance for Villa as he challenges for every aerial ball in their box.
    • 15' Bilyaletdinov takes the ball down smartly out on the left for Everton but his cross cannot find Yakubu.
    • 14' Fine trickery from Young down the left comes to nothing as Cahill shrugs him off the ball at the byline.
    • 13' Distin plays a raking long ball up to Cahill but it runs out of play tamely with the Australian unable to latch on to it.
    • 12' There is a delay for some jostling in the Villa box between Ashley Young and Tim Cahill before Fellaini heads over from another Baines corner.
    • 11' Baines whips in the resulting corner and finds the head of the dangerous Tim Cahill, but the midfielder leans back and his effort goes over the bar.
    • 9' Bilyaletdinov wins a corner with a bright run down the left, and that was good, inventive play from the Russian.

    • 7' Howard launches the ball forward from the back for Everton but Yakubu is not able to get his foot on the ball.

  3. Superb game....one that should have suited the neutrals. It was end to end football for most of the game and hard aggressive football reminisent of older days. Well done Messrs Neill, Carew, Cahill, Heitinga, Agbonlahor and Young for their determined graft. The game only being spoilt by a referee and his second. A good point won by both teams.
