    • 90'+4 The whistle blows to signal the end of the match - and what cracking entertainment we've had in this one! Neither side can argue with a point here this afternoon.
    • 90'+4 Last chance of the match will be for Burnley, with Nugent chasing a long ball... he cuts inside... BUT GREAT TACKLE! It's Wayne Bridge, whose perfectly-timed challenge prevents a likely-looking winner!
    • 90'+3 Gudjonssson can't get to the ball from McDonald and the danger is over for City.
    • 90'+3 City's free kick is well cleared and McDonald comes up on the break...
    • 90'+2 Carlisle goes in the book for hugging Bellamy to the ground.
    • 90'+1 Great save by Jensen from Petrov's scurrying and shot on the right... City are desperate for the three points!
    • 90' Four extra minutes to play! Is there a final twist?
    • 89' Wright-Phillips dances into the Burnley box, but his shot is blocked... it comes out and falls for Bridge, whose powerful effort ricochets off a cluster of white shirts... nervous times for both sets of fans now.
    • 88' The equaliser was against the run of play, but after Burnley's first-half dominance you can't begrudge them the equaliser... assuming they hang on!
    • 87' Burnley come again, Nugent crossing from the right for Fletcher, who chests the ball down - AND McDONALD IS THERE TO PUMP THE BALL INTO THE NET! IT'S 3-3!!!!
    • 86' Burnley get back in the City half once more, but every time they move up they are quickly hustled off the ball. Lescott made a terrific tackle there.
    • 85' A slightly unlikely penalty shout for City as Craig Bellamy charges into Steven Caldwell's back, falls over, and then demands retribution. The referee is having none of that one.
    • 83' Tyrone Mears jumps clumsily into Wright-Phillips - there's a head clash, and the Burnley man goes in the referee's book.
    • 82' City's comeback has been impressive in this second half, with their endlessly talented team finally looking like a team rather than individuals.
    • 81' Ireland passes the ball out to Petrov, whose ball in - half shot, half cross - whips straight across the goal just too far in front of Adebayor. The striker looked offside even if he'd got to that one, though...
    • 80' Another break is on for City now, Ireland marshalling the ball through the middle...
    • 79' Burnley start building a move up the right, but Wright-Phillips puts in a pair of well-timed tackles to regain the ball for City.
    • 78' The corner comes in and Clarke Carlisle accidentally thighs it towards his own goal - but a superb leap by Nugent sees him clear the ball off the line!
    • 77' Bellamy has switched to the right temporarily, and makes a dangerous looking run in from the right - and shoots.... winning a corner.
    • 75' Tevez won't be happy at being subbed - he'd looked lively in this second half after an anonymous opening period, and will have wanted to make up for that glaring miss.
    • 74' Hughes brings off Tevez, Petrov coming on in his place.
    • 73' Bellamy's cross is straight at Tevez, who must score... BUT MISSES! The Argentine makes contact but lofts his effort over from just inside the six-yard box!
    • 72' City come up the left now, with Bellamy on the ball...
    • 71' Burnley keep probing for gaps, but are too wary of leaving more holes in their own defence.
    • 70' It's Chris Eagles, the man who made Burnley's second goal, coming off to be replaced by David Nugent.
    • 69' Burnley boss Coyle is readying another change...
    • 68' Burnley seem to be running out of ideas now...
    • 67' Almost a fourth for City as Wright-Phillips once again puts in a cross from the line, pulling it back to Tevez - who drills a low shot that's well saved by Jensen.
    • 65' The counter fizzles out as Fletcher snatches at a long-range attempt rather than hang on to he ball and stay patient.
    • 64' Burnley are dispossessed again and Wright-Phillips comes up the right, but his cross is cut out - a counter attack is one...
    • 63' Burnley's fresh legs immediately see them renew their charge upfield.
    • 61' First changes of the match sees Bikey replaced by Kevin McDonald, and Blake come off for Joey Gudjonnson.
    • 60' Credit to Burnley, they've picked themselves up and are trying everything to get back in this.
    • 58' CITY SCORE AGAIN!!!! AND IT'S CRAIG BELLAMY! Stehen Ireland releases Wright-Phillips on the right, and his cross back cuts the Burnley defence clean open... leaving Bellamy to fire in unopposed from 15 yards!
    • 57' City come again with Bellamy delivering a ball for Adebayor, but his shot is poor.
    • 56' Burnley had just started getting comfortable in their lead again - how will they react to the equaliser?
    • 55' City win a free kick - AND IT'S AN EQUALISER!!!! It's Kolo Toure who scores after the free kick is played across the six-yard box from the far post!
    • 54' Sensible reffing there. Some would have sent both players off.
    • 53' HANDBAG ALERT! Zabaleta and Stephen Jordan get into a major argument over a tackle in the box, and press foreheads together in a frenzy of shouting fury. Zabaleta taps Jordan round the face. The referee gives both a stern talking-to, but keeps cards in pocket.
    • 52' Caldwell takes the free kick but squanders it with a misdirected pass.
    • 51' Free kick to Burnley after Zabaleta is penalised for a tackle.
    • 50' Most of the City team look like they're going to throw everything at this, but the strikers look strangely uninterested.
    • 49' Impressive running up the right by Tevez, but when he cuts the ball back in to the box at last it's cut too far back for Adebayor. Ireland gets on to it as it's cleared by Burnley, but fires wildly over.
    • 48' Tevez's free kick is neatly controlled and on target, but heads for the centre of the goal and is caught with ease by Jensen.
    • 47' Wright-Phillips makes another lively run and Bikey glances him to the floor! Free-kick right on the edge of the Burnley box... Tevez shapes to hit it.
    • 46' We're back in action in Manchester, with no half-time subs to report.
    • - The Clarets haven't exactly pulled their hosts to pieces, but they've taken their opportunities superbly. City are a bit lucky to be back in the match at all - and you have to feel sorry for the Beast. He was well placed to stop the shot by Wright-Phillips even after the deflection, but the wicked spin put on the ball by the deflection curled it round him perfectly.
    • 45'+2 The whistle goes for half-time.
    • 45'+1 Adebayor latches on to a long ball and volleys goalwards - it's just over the bar, but he's waved offside anyway. Why do players always look aggrieved by the decision even when their shots have missed anyway?
    • 45'+1 Two more minutes to play...
    • 45' Adebayor passes to Tevez in the box, and the Argentine turns and shoots... but it's weak, along the ground and straight at the keeper.
    • 44' That'll be a tough one to concede for Burnley - pure rub of the green - but it makes up for Lescott's bad luck with inadvertently conceding that penalty earlier on.
    • 43' Lovely run in from the right by Wright-Phillips puts him past two players... he's a chance to shoot - AND IT'S IN!!! The shot is at the near post, but a cruel deflection off the legs of Stephen Jordan curls the ball perfectly around the unfortunate Jensen!
    • 43' Toure gets on the end of the corner but can only head the ball into the air, and Bikey punts the danger clear.
    • 42' City come again, and win a corner...
    • 41' City's free-kick into the Burnley half puts them into the attack - and Bellamy beats the offside trap! He shoots from a tight angle on the left... on target, but a great save from Jensen!!!
    • 41' The ball is cleared and Bridge breaks, but is brought down by Eagles with some judicious shirt-tugging.
    • 40' Wayne Bridge concedes a corner to Burnley...
    • 39' Great work from Elliott and Bikey on the right - and it's almost three for the Clarets! Fletcher gets head to the ball but can't control his header from the edge of the six-yard box!
    • 38' A magical ball into the box from Stephen Ireland finds Wright-Phillips, who lofts a perfect first-time volley over Jensen and into the top corner... but the flag goes up! That would have been a beautiful goal...
    • 37' City continue to push and now win a throw by the right corner flag.
    • 36' Owen Coyle is walking up and down the touchline like a nervous father, unsure of whether to tell his men to lock it down or just keep hitting on the break like they have been.
    • 35' City's fans are sitting in stunned silence at the moment. They simply can't believe that they are two down, despite City having played most of the football.
    • 33' Fletcher looked three miles off-side when he tapped in, but the replay shows that the linesman's decision was absolutely sound. What a great start for the visitors!
    • 32' AND NOW THE SECOND GOAL IS THERE!!!!! BURNLEY ARE 2-0 UP! It's Eagles who delivers the ball past Give - who moments earlier had made a reaction save off the line from a deflected Eagles free kick - and Fletcher runs in unopposed and just onside to tap in to an empty net!
    • 32' ALMOST TWO FOR BURNLEY!
    • 31' Now Bellamy goes into the book for a later slide on Eagles - it's a little rough on the Welshman, who made only the slightest of contacts with his man and very nearly got the ball.
    • 30' Burnley man Bikey deserved to go in the book for that one - and should thank the tricky City winger for jumping. If he'd caught him with that one, he'd have been straight off the pitch.
    • 29' Wright-Phillips is forced to jump over a ridiculous two-footed flying lunge by Andre Bikey. Yellow card.
    • 28' Corner cleared straight out by a Toure header.
    • 28' Nice work by Chris Eagles, the midfielder rounding Barry and having a good crack with his left foot that deflects off for a corner.
    • 27' Lescott gets in front of the defender to head the ball, but under the pressure from his marker can only nod it off to the right.
    • 26' Gareth Barry takes the free kick...
    • 25' Wright-Phillips is causing Burnley all sorts of trouble on the right flank for City, and hard-man Stephen Jordan resorts to an elbow in the back to stop him - no card, but a warning to the Clarets' skipper to cut that sort of thing out.
    • 24' Adebayor charges forward onto a promising-looking ball through, but he's mistimed his run fractionally and is caught offside.
    • 23' The penalty decision was tough to argue with, incidentally - Lescott didn't know much about the ball hitting his hand, but his arm was raised high and to his right giving the ref little option.
    • 22' Miscommunication between Tevez and Ireland sees a promising City move break down just outside the edge of the box.
    • 21' The corner ends up on the far side of the box with Wright-Phillips, who passes to Adebayor - and the striker wins another corner.
    • 20' City push straight back upfield and win a corner through Bellamy...
    • 19' ALEXANDER SCORES FROM THE SPOT!!! IT'S 1-0 TO BURNLEY!
    • 18' Burnley come up and Mears crosses - it hits Lescott on the hand - PENALTY!!!!
    • 18' Brian 'The Beast' Jensen misses the corner to give Toure a look at goal, but the opportunity surprises the defender and he misses the ball.
    • 17' Nice run in the box from Wright-Phillips ended by a brutal but effective tackle by Jordan. Corner to City.
    • 16' City are pressing consistently at the moment, clearly keen to keep their five-match unbeaten run going.
    • 15' It's cagey stuff so far, though City are looking the tidier of the two teams.
    • 14' Ireland lofts a good-looking ball up for Bellamy, but Welshman's first touch gives the ball up to Caldwell.
    • 13' Nice one-two up the right between Zabaleta and Wright-Phillips looks promising, but Zabaleta runs in to the back of Stephen Jordan. He claims obstruction, to no avail.
    • 12' Burnley come forward again, but City close the gaps well at the back and there is now ay through.
    • 11' Great chance for City - Bellamy wrong-foots the Burnley defence and backheels to put Adebayor through - but the ball runs to a defender! What a missed opportunity!
    • 9' City hit on the counter-attack and Tevez opens up space to have a shot from long-range, but it's one that Jonny Wilkinson would have been proud of, flying fully 20m over the centre of the goal.
    • 8' Alexander whips the free-kick in low... AND BLAKE GETS TO IT! He hits the lovely effort that is low and powerful, but runs just the wrong side of the post. Given was stranded there, he would not have stopped that one.
    • 7' Alexander wins a free kick out on the right as the Clarets move forward.
    • 6' The pace of the match is a little sleepy so far.
    • 4' The ball is whipped in and ends up going to Robbie Blake - who tries an OUTRAGEOUS bicycle kick with the ball 12ft off the ground!! He does well to make contact, but the ball goes off for a goal kick.
    • 3' Burnley finally make a foray into the City half and Kolo Toure concedes a corner.
    • 2' City push forward again, but Burnley block off the trouble - still, a lively start for Sparky's men.
    • 1' The match gets under way, and straight away Wright-Phillips gets into the box and has a crack at goal from a tight angle on the right, into the side netting.

  1. As every City fan now knows "There's nothing quite like a McDonalds" lol!
    P. S. You cannot buy good team play

From STUART, on Mon 9 Nov 16:52
  2. No tactics, no team play, no basics, no nothing other than individual effort.

Hughes has had £220+ million + 16months and things are worse.

No more time, no more excuses

    Sack Hughes now.

From paul g, on Sun 8 Nov 21:48
  3. Toure, Adebayour....on your face

From aLaMaK, on Sun 8 Nov 14:18
  4. No it's not allabout the money, but there's very little Knee-jerk calls for sacking from true Blues. Give it time you numpties.

Yet another poor defensive display from us, versus a much better one from the opposition, basically.
Not sure about Lescott and I was one who said play him WITH Dunne - forcing Dunne's hand has been by far the worst club decision.

Let's not get carried away though - our game in hand is against EFC and puts us back in the top 4 with a win - and you can bet your bottom dollar that Lescott will be up for that one!

Put it down to a lacklustre performance from us - but all credit to a very spirited Burnley sidewho played like it was their cup final!

Hey Scouse Bay what you doing on here talking sh1te. Manchester city will be lucky to make the top six. Manchester United will come back strong in the second half of the season as usual.
