    • Blackburn Rovers
    • 90+5' That chance is the final act of the match. No surprises at Old Trafford this evening, and United move back up to second.
    • 90+5' Obertan and Rooney link up down the left. Rooney's pass is helped across by Valencia to OWEN... Flashed wide of the far post!
    • 90+4' As it is we have Obetan and Evra keeping it in the Rovers corner. Eventually Evra is flagged for offside.
    • 90+3' If that goal had stood then we could have had a grandstand finish here. Oh well.
    • 90+1' GOAL!! McCarthy's shot is saved by van der Sar but it drops at the feet of Kalinic who scores... NO! The flag is up for offside against the Croatian! Replays show just how wrong the referee's assistant got that call... very!
    • 90' A minimum of four minutes will be added at the end of this match.
    • 87' GOAL!! Obertan leaves the ball for Anderson whose cross to the near post is steered past Robinson by Rooney to add a bit of gloss to the scoreline! It's not been a vintage performance from Rooney, but he's popped up with his eighth of the season.
    • 86' Evra trips Pedersen as the Norwegian skips forward through the centre circle. Emerton will send it forward... caught by van der Sar.
    • 84' Rooney's cross bound for Valencia is cut out by Givet.
    • 83' David dunn is replaced by Benni McCarthy with seven minutes plus stoppage time left on the clock. Can the South African snatch a late equaliser?
    • 82' What a miss from Obertan! Valencia finds Owen in the middle of the box, who helps it on to the French youngster and he fires wide from all of eight yards out! It's harsh to castigate a player on his Premier League debut, but he should have scored fromt here.
    • 79' Berbatov comes off to be replaced by Michael Owen.
    • 78' Diouf is adjudged to have handballed in midfield. Anderosn takes the free-kcik quickly.
    • 77' Rovers make the switch now, with Kalinic coming on for di Santo.
    • 76' Valencia looks to lead the counter-attack but Givet slides in to challenge him. The Frenchman has put in another impressive performance tonight.
    • 75' This time Samba hacks the ball away. Brown fires it back upfield and Chimbonda chests it back to Robinson.
    • 74' Obertan wins a corner, which Rooney will take. It's flicked on by O'Shea and Nelsen puts it behind for a corner from the other side. Anderson's corner is put behind for a third straight corner.
    • 73' It looks as though Nikola Kalinic is about to come on, presumably for di Santo.
    • 72' Blackburn string some passes together and have plenty forward, but Emerton's floated ball to di Santo at the far post isn't headed back across and United have a goal kick.
    • 70' Rooney wriggles free of Samba and heads for goal. He tries to slip a ball through for Berbatov, only for Nelsen to hold firm between the Bulgarian and the ball.
    • 68' Nice approach play from United as Valencia lays it back for Rooney, but the shot is blocked on the edge of the box.
    • 66' Anderson relases Obertan with a ball over the top and he's charging towards goal. Nelsen is the quicker and gets back to cover him, and Obertan eventually snatches a shot that right at Robinson.
    • 65' Anderson hits the deck in midfield but instead the referee gives Blackburn a free-kick for the Brazilian's initial foul on N'Zonzi.
    • 63' Obertan is ready to come on, and he'll replace Nani. The crowd seem to like this.
    • 63' Anderson digs a cross out but thei's no one in the area to get on the end of it.
    • 62' Valencia tries to lob a ball over the top for Berbatov, but Samba holds his ground and Robinson can come out to collect.
    • 61' Normal service has resumed, with United probing and prodding around and Rovers set up to resist them.
    • 60' Rooney tries to backheel Evra's ball into the path of Berbatov, but it doesn't come off.
    • 59' Gabriel Obertan, the young French winger who impressed on his debut at Oakwell in midweek, is warming up on the touchline.
    • 58' Allardyce throws on Gamst Pedersen in place of Andrews. Not sure if that move was planned before the goal, but on comes the man who struck twice the last time Rovers won here.
    • 56' GOAL!! Evra plays it in to Berbatov and the Bulgarian tees himself up and fires a brilliant volley on the turn past Robinson! A sublime goal from Berbatov.
    • 55' Blackburn have a rare foray forward in open play, and di santo links the play up well but then goes down clutching his face, just when he can be of use. He gets up sheepishly soon enough.
    • 54' Anderson fires a ball into the path of Evra, but there's just a little too much on the pass and the left-back can't bring it down to get the shot off.
    • 52' First spell of sustained possession from Rovers. It ends when Valencia sneaks in behind Givet and bursts forward, but can't decide whether to pass to Rooney, Berbatov, or shoot, and in the end plays a lacklustre ball to no one.
    • 51' O'Shea's cross is headed away and the ball runs back to van der Sar. Di Santo again charges down the keeper, who manages to make his clearance in time.
    • 50' Berbatov is finding himself having to drop deeper in search of the ball.
    • 49' Berbatov is onside as he receives the ball on the edge of the box, but his first touch takes him away from goal and Diouf ghosts in to dispossess him.
    • 47' United trying to start with mor eintent from the restart. Rovers continue to keep them at bay.
    • 46' No changes for either side at half time.
    • 46' United kick off the second half, attacking the Stretford End.
    • 45+2' Phil Dowd blows his whistle for half time. Sam Allardyce will be by far the happier of the two managers at the break.
    • 45+2' Dunn has the ball at his feet in the United area, but can't wriggle his way past the group of red shirts around him.
    • 45+1' Two minutes of added time to be played. Nani has sustained another nasty blow to the back, from the knee of Chimbonda this time.
    • 45' Carrick whips a ball forward that Rooney nonchalantly back heels intot he path of BERBATOV... the Bulgarian blazes his shot wide under pressure from Nelsen!
    • 44' The ball breaks for Rooney and Givet hounds him before bblocking the shot. Rooney wins a corenr, from which Nani heads well off target.
    • 42' Evra tumbles over Emerton in the Blackburn area... there are some half-hearted appeals for a penalty but Phil Dowd was right there and saw that Emerton was already on the ground when Evra came across.
    • 41' United play the ball around the edge of the Blackburn penalty area, but can't find a way through and Rovers repel the ball for now.
    • 40' United pour forward and Nani plays it out to Rooney, who squares the ball across for BERBATOV TO TAP IN!! Wait... it won't count... the flag is up against Rooney! He just strayed offisde as nani played the ball to him. A real let-off for Rovers.
    • 39' This time it will be Rooney to shoot... the ball flies high into the crowd.
    • 38' Chimbonda and Nani clash as they both go for the loose ball. Nani goes flying and Chimbonda goes into the book. A little harsh really, but it could get worse as United have another dangerous free-kick.
    • 37' Evra zips a ball to the feet of Rooney on the edge of the box, but the England man's touch escapes him.
    • 36' Brett Emerton gets a booking for kicking the ball away after the referee had blown up for a foul.
    • 34' Rooney lays the ball off to Berbatov, who strikes low from distance... saved two-handed by Robinson!
    • 34' Ryan Nelsen rises to meet dunn's cross... headed wide.
    • 33' O'Shea concedes a corner, giving Rovers a rare foray forward.
    • 32' A good spell from United, the first time they really got forward in numbers. Nani's shot looks as though it was deflected over, but the goal kick is given.
    • 31' United keep the pressure on and Berbatov's header is turned over the bar by Robinson! Finally, something for the crowd to shout about in this game!
    • 30' United attack from the other side now and Berbatov on the turn... Tackled by Givet on the penalty spot!
    • 29' Valencia can't decide how he's going to try and beat two men in front of him, and plays the ball back.
    • 28' Anderson wins a free-kick and takes it quickly. Spread out to Nani, who is tackled in the area by chimbonda and Robinson boots it clear.
    • 26' Nani's corner comes to the near post, and it's all Rooney can do to backheel the ball wide for a goal kick. A wasted set piece, really.
    • 25' Chimbonda jumps into the back of Nani as the ball comes out and gifts United another dead ball opportunity. This time Rooney taps it to Valencia, whose shot is blocked behind for a corner.
    • 24' Ryan Nelsen catches Nani in the backside with a flying knee! Anderson will send the free-kick into the box... Punched away by Robinson.
    • 22' N'Zonzi's header falls into the path of Diouf. The Senegalese knocks it round O'Shea but the Irish defender recovers well to block the shot.
    • 21' United take it short but, bereft of ideas, give it back to Rovers.
    • 20' Samba hauls Berbatov down and the Bulgarian wins the free-kick.
    • 19' Another tentative move forward from United ends with an overhit pass down the channel from Anderson.
    • 17' Robinson will fire forward a free-kick from his own half. Samba rises unchallenged to head across goal, but none of his team-mates can get on the end of it.
    • 15' Nani wins another free-kick on the left. His delivery is headed clear by N'Zonzi.
    • 14' More keep ball from United. Blackburn are doing their best to keep the home crowd quiet early on, as you'd expect from a visiting Allardyce side.
    • 13' Berbatov dinks a ball into the box. Samba swings at thin air and Valencia tries to pounce, but he snatches at it and the ball goes wide.
    • 12' United forced to play bac kto van der Sar. Franco di Santo is running his socks off up front on his home.
    • 11' Dunn tries to zip a ball out wide to Diouf, but it only gets as far as Wes Brown.
    • 10' Evra lofts a high ball to Valencia at the far post. The Ecuadorean cuts it back across goal, but the ball had already gone out of play.
    • 9' Samba and N'Zonzi both jump to challenge Rooney for a header, and N'Zonzi comes off worst after he's nutted by his team-mate! He goes off for treatment, but should be able to continue.
    • 8' N'Zonzi fouls Nani out wide. United send O'Shea and Evans up for it, but the delivery is claimed by Robinson.
    • 6' Blackburn knock the ball around confidently as they evade United's midfield chasers.
    • 5' nani shows a little too much of the ball to Chimbonda, who hacks it into the stands.
    • 4' Nani jinks his way into a shooting position, but his drive from distance is easy for Robinson.
    • 3' Again United struggle to clear their lines from the corner, but the ball eventually drops at the feet of van der Sar, who is wearing the captain's armband this evening.
    • 2' Dunn's free-kick is not fully cleared and Evans gets a knock to the face as he heads behind for a corner.
    • 1' Wes Brown bundles Diouf over in midfield. David Dunn will send the set piece into the box.
    • 1' Blackburn kick off to get this show on the road!
    • - The player's are coming out on to the pitch now. We're almost ready to get underway...
    • - No current Premier League referee has given United players more red cards than Phil Dowd (5); including two red cards in their defeat at Fulham last season – Rooney and Scholes. United have lost five of their 12 matches that Phil Dowd has officiated in the Premier League.
    • - However, United have shipped 11 goals in their 10 league games so far, their joint-third-worst defensive performance ever at this stage of a Premier League season.
    • - Blackburn have lost 11 of their 15 league trips to Old Trafford, winning only once; a 2-1 win in September 2005, courtesy of two goals from Morten Gamst Pedersen.
    • - United have taken 16 of a possible 18 points from their last six meetings with Rovers in the league, conceding only three goals in the process.
    • _ Chelsea's comfortable win at Bolton means that United won't go top with a win this evening. Three points would put them two behind the Blues and three ahead of Arsenal. Premier League table
    • - Vidic and Ferdinand are both injured, meaning it's Evans and Brown at centre-half.

  1. Well William, you clearly DON'T remember!
Dennis Law did NOT back heel United into the second division. United could have won that game 83-nil and still gone down.
Yet another urban myth (same as the one that says people from Manchester support City)! If you want to make a 'clever' comment, get your facts straight!

  9. No Rio Ferdinand = Cleansheet, as much as I love the guy I think it's time Evans is put down before him. Good performance, and I think It will be the same starting line up against Chelsea but with Vidic in for Brown, Giggs in for Nani and Fletcher in for Carrick.

But why isn't Zoran Tosic on the bench, he is quick, skillful and has a great shot. He almost scored against Barnsley from 20 yards with one of his first touches. Tosic Nani
