    • Bolton Wanderers
    • 90'+4 THE WHISTLE GOES!!!! That's a win for Bolton that Pompey will be kicking themselves about - they matched their visitors for most of the game, but a few moments of lost concentration mean that they are still without a point after five matches in the season.
    • 90'+2 There's injuries and time-wasting all over the pitch now...
    • 90'+1 Four extra minutes to play, and now Kaboul gets a yellow for a ludicrous trip on Muamba.
    • 89' That was a proper goalmouth scramble before Cahill nodded it looping into the bottom right corner, and James can't quite get to it! There's a suspicion of off-side about it, but the goal will stand!
    • 89' Bolton win a long throw and Samuel puts it in... AND CAHILL SCORES!!!!! THAT WILL SURELY BE THE WINNER!!!!
    • 86' Chance for Kevin Davies... AND IT'S DEFLECTED OVER!!! Kaboul just got his leg in the way to send the ball over just as it looked as if the Bolton striker had to score!
    • 85' It could go either way now... impossible to call this one as the chances keep on coming...
    • 84' Webber makes a nice run and tries to put Piquionne through - but the Frenchman can't get his header on target!
    • 82' Danny Webber comes on for Portsmouth - straight onto the pitch after only signing the other day. Tommy Smith makes way.
    • 81' WINNER FOR BOLTON? NO!!! Gary Cahill is clear in on goal six yards out, but miscontrols and ends up fouling Ben-Haim. Davies pops it in from the deflection, but the whistle has gone, and what a missed chance for the visitors!
    • 80' From the clearance Bolton push forward and win a free kick on the left, but the ball is cleared.
    • 79' Yebda takes, but it's headed clear.
    • 78' Pompey come up the right flank once more and win a corner...
    • 77' The kick comes in from Yebda and BROWN GETS TO IT... but has smashed it so high and wide it's almost in the Solent...
    • 77' Pompey have a throw-in that Vanden Borre takes - the hosts end up winning a free kick...
    • 76' The change finally comes, and it's Tamir Cohen who comes off for Gavin McCann.
    • 75' Vanden Bore now makes a run and puts in a cross from the right, but it's cleared byu Steinsson.
    • 74' Bolton getting ready to make another change and it looks like McCann will come on...
    • 73' It's impossible to say which way this one's going to go - it's been a real thriller and there's plenty of drama left to come.
    • 72' Yebda gets in on the action straight away, putting in a delivery from a free kick that Cohen clears.
    • 70' for Bolton, Ricketts and Mark Davies come off for Ivan Klasnic and Chris Basham.
    • 69' A pile of changes on both sides: Yebda comes on to replace O'Hara, an odd choice for Pompey to take off probably their most effective player.
    • 68' Kevin Davies latches on to a lose ball from Kaboul, and there's danger - but the chance goes begging as nobody can get to his ball.
    • 67' Taylor's corner is cleared back to him; he crosses back in and Kevin Davies gets on to it but can only head limply at James.
    • 66' Bolton finally get back up the other end of the pitch and force a corner...
    • 65' Gary Megson is furiously making plans for changes as his side are well on the back foot now.
    • 64' Pompey win a throw and come into the box again, and Cahill has to make a great saving tackle!
    • 63' Pompey come again and it's another great move up the right! They want all three points now!
    • 65' GOAL FOR PORTSMOUTH!!!! BOATENG!!!! A great opportunitst goal from the debutant as O'Hara's bicycle kick is blocked and falls to the German, who fires through a string of bodies and past an unsighted Jaaskelainen! It's 2-2!!!
    • 60' Nice run up field by Boateng and he gets a shot away, but it's well stopped in the bottom left corner by Jaaskelainen.
    • 59' Taylor is put through into the left half of the box by Davies - but he can't quite get his body around the ball and balloons it over.
    • 58' Boateng, Knight and Davies are having a few words after a foul by Mokoena - the ref comes in to calm things down.
    • 57' Brown picks up the ball from a Samuel clearance - and he thumps a powerful shot that loops off one of a group of white shirts and loops just over the top corner!
    • 56' Things are just slowing down a little now, as the two sides keep things a little cagier than they had...
    • 55' Pompey come upfield again and Samuel is forced to boot the ball clear with all the paanche and sophistication of a toddler playing the drums.
    • 53' A bit of treatment now for Zat Knight who is hurt in a clash with Piquionne and will be coming off to be looked at on the sidelines.
    • 52' Brown charges in to the box to get on the end of a cross from O'Hara on the left, but Jaaskelainen takes a great catch to keep things safe and tidy.
    • 51' Boateng jumps for a header as a ball comes in from Belhadj down the left - but the striker is penalised for a push on Samuel.
    • 50' O'Hara takes, hits it well, but it's just over the bar.
    • 49' Pompey push forward now and it's a massively dangerous spot, 5 yards out and just on the right...
    • 48' Kaboul fouls Tamir Cohen and it's a dangerous spot, but the ball is taken well by James.
    • 47' Penalty shout for Pompey! Zat Knight passes back ridiculously to Jaaskelainen, and Smith is right there - he goes down and thinks he's been fouled! The crowd shout for it but that would have been a bit much for the ref to have given.
    • 46' Straight away Bolton win a free kick up on the left - the ball is in from Davies by cleared out by Vanden Borre.
    • 46' We're back in action at Fratton Park.
    • 45'+2 The whistle goes - and what a half we've had at Fratton Park! Both sides will be thrilled with the sheer volume of chances they've created, and though Portsmouth will be a little disheartened to be trailing they can't argue with eitehr of the Bolton goals. The way the hosts have been making chances, however, they have what it takes to get right back into this. Great entertainment so far - let's hope the second half brings more of the same!
    • 45'+1 Belhadj goes down in the box chasing one of those long balls in and tries to claim the penalty, but it was just a coming together of two players who were watching the ball and didn't spot each other.
    • 45' The players look all-in already after an extraordinary 45 minutes of football, and the long balls up field lead to goalmouth scrambles at each end - but no clear chances.
    • 44' Still breathless, end-to-end stuff! First Bolton come upfield, and as Pompey clear the danger they hit back on the break AND SMITH COMES WITHIN A WHISKER OF SCORING! The ball whizzed right across the goal and that could have been an equaliser.
    • 43' Pompey come back up the pitch and Mokoena has a long-range crack, pulled with to the left.
    • 42' You can understand Ben-Haim's tackle - Davies was sure to score had he not brought him down - but Belhadj should have been covering the man.
    • 42' TAYLOR SCORES FROM THE SPOT! The former Pompey man coolly slots home into the bottom left corner as James dives the wrong way.
    • 40' PENALTY SHOUT FOR BOLTON!!!! AND IT'S GIVEN!!!!!! Kevin Davies comes in to the box and is hacked down!
    • 39' It's been a half of two halves this afternoon with Pompey now looking much the more inventive of the teams at the moment - but Bolton were all over them for the first 20 minutes.
    • 38' Pompey come forward again and force Taylor into conceding a free kick at the corner flag - delivered in well by O'Hara and Steinsson clears off the line from Tommy Smith! Great chance for the new signing to open his account!
    • 37' We're straight up the other end as Pompey hit on the break - AND BOATENG IS FREE TO SHOOT! But it's a disappointing effort that floats well over the bar.
    • 36' Bolton come up again and it's Taylor who ends up with the half-chance - but again he mis-kicks and the opportunity is wasted.
    • 35' In 630 minutes of Premier League football before today these teams had musttered just three goals between them - but now they've had two in half an hour! Whatever happens with the result this could be a shot in the arm for both teams.
    • 34' Bolton are hanging on the ball a little better now - cautious, but clearly trying to take some of Pompey's momentum away from them.
    • 33' The ball is delivered in but ehaded well clear by Ben-Haim.
    • 32' Bolton have been on the ropes for 10 minutes but come forward now and Kevin Davies forces a corner.
    • 31' Kaboul turns provider now - and puts a great ball in from the right for Piquionne WHO HEADS JUST OVER THE BAR!!! Yet another great chance for Pompey, and this game has absolutely caught fire!
    • 30' Bolton push back up, but Pompey break on the counter-attack and Piquionne makes a great run up the right - he gets the ball across to Boateng but it's hit a little too hard and misses its target.
    • 29' Another corner - O'Hara takes again and KABOUL GETS TO IT AGAIN!!! BUT HE MISSES BY AN INCH!!!! Right at the far post, Jaaskelainen misses the punch clear and Kaboul so nearly grabs a second but his header glances aside!
    • 28' The ball is headed clear by Kevin Davies, and Ben-Haim has a crack - but the ball is deflected just wide.
    • 27' That was almost Pompey's first effort on goal - but they're already pushing up again and win another corner.
    • 26' The cross comes in AND KABOUL HEADS IT IN!!!! FABULOUS EQUALISER!!! Great delivery from O'Hara and Kaboul's inhuman jump let him thunder an unstoppable header down and low into the net!
    • 25' Vandedn Borre puts a ball in from the right and wins a corner... O'Hara will take.
    • 24' Pompey start coming back a bit, probing for space - but there's now way through for them at the moment and they resort to long balls in.
    • 23' Bolton regain possession and force a corner that's played well back as they look for a way through. Muamba fouls Kaboul, though, and Pompey breathe again.
    • 22' Davies comes up the right flank for Bolton, and is left alone to deliver a lovely ball straight to Taylor on the left of the box - Taylor connects well but the shot is half a dozen yards wide of the right post.
    • 21' Smith puts a ball in from the right after being put in by Kaboul, and Piquionne almost gets to it - just a glancing header though and it's out for a goal kick.
    • 20' Pompey try hanging back and keeping the ball a little better - not a bad idea for the hosts, who are struggling to cope with their opponents at the moment.
    • 19' Taylor takes the corner, but it's well cleared by Ben-Haim.
    • 18' Jloyd Samuel wins a corner from Brown as he tries to cut back in to the box...
    • 17' Bolton don't look like a side that have struggled for goals so far - they keep on pushing up well.
    • 16' Bolton win a throw on the right and it's delivered in long by Ricketts - Cahill ends up on the ball but is dispossessed.
    • 16' Mokoena makes a charging run up the right, but the difference so far is that Pompey just haven't got the ball into dangerous areas like the visitors have.
    • 15' Bolton are thrilled with the play, and with his blood up and confidence high Cohen has a pop from 40 yards - but he skies and slices well wide to the left.
    • 14' COHEN SCORES FOR BOLTON!!!! A mirror image of the Taylor chance, Cohen picks the ball up from a Davies pass on the left and buries the ball perfectly in the top-left corner! Fabulous strike from the Bolton midfielder and James han no chance.
    • 12' AMAZING MISS BY BOLTON! Steinsson puts Matthew Taylor clear in on goal after a wonderfully-timed move, and Taylor has the goal at his mercy from the right-hand side... but totally miskicks from 15 yards, missing the goal by 20 feet! What a cruel miss!
    • 11' Long shot from O'Hara soars well over the bar.
    • 10' Bolton power back up the pitch and win a free kick on the right following a Belhadj run - delivered nicely by Matthew Taylor and Cohen heads it... but just wide!
    • 9' O'Hara takes the corner and Smith ends up having a bicycle kick attempt that flies over the bar.
    • 8' Smith wins a corner down the left side after some great interplay between O'Hara and Boateng opens up Bolton. Pompey are looking solid.
    • 7' Another good run from Boateng down the left, well stopped by the corner flag by Ricketts - but the striker is proving a handful.
    • 6' Nasty clash in mid-air there as Boatteng and Davies both go up for the ball, landing fairly awkardly from a great height - luckily, each man just seems winded rather than hurt.
    • 5' First decent chance of the match - and it falls to Bolton as Steinsson's cross finds Davies nicely, but the striker's header is too straight to trouble David James.
    • 4' Boateng tries to make a run down the left but Michael Ricketts covers back and tackles brilliantly.
    • 2' Portsmouth make an early foray up the pitch into the penalty area but the Boateng runs out of space.
    • 1' And there we go! The match kicks off, and it's Pompey who gain possession.
    • - The players have gone through the line-up and shaken hands, and are now taking their places on the pitch...
    • - The referee today is Chris Foy - the official that Alex Ferguson gave both barrels to following the Community Shield.
    • - Kanu scored that winner in April, and has actually scored against Wanderers the last two times they've visited Fratton Park. Despite that good record, he's on the bench today, with new boys Frederic Piquionne and Tommy Smith leading the line.
    • - Both sets of fans are looking more or less equally worried as we approach kick-off - but it's great to see the support that teams can still pull in despite such poor starts to the season. Last time the two sides played, incidentally, was back in early April, right here on the south coast. Portsmouth won 1-0 that day with a goal from Kanu.
    • - It's a breezy, sunny day at Fratton Park - the players are out on the pitch and jogging around in their warm up for all the world as if it's a relaxed kickabout on the beach.
    • - There will be some new faces to keep an eye on today: for Bolton, it'll be the first start for Croatian forward Ivan Klasnic since he moved from Nantes. Portsmouth - one of the busiest sides during the transfer window - will give debuts to Tal Ben-Haim, Jamie O'Hara and Kevin Prince-Boateng.
    • - Let's look on the bright side, though: good news is that either one or both sides will be delighted by the end of the afternoon as they are certain to pick up their first point (or points) of the season!
    • - ...so in other words, will it be the leaky defence or the impotent attack that proves the decisive element?
    • - It should be a fascinating match today. You've heard of the irresistible force meeting the immovable object? Well, this is sort of the exact opposite, because while Bolton have failed to score in six of their last nine league matches, Pompey have kept just three clean sheets in their last 23 home games.
    • - Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Ricketts, Knight, Cahill, Samuel, Steinsson, Cohen, Davies, Muamba, Taylor, Davies.
    • - The teams are in now - and Pompey keeper David James makes his return from injury, as widely expected. Portsmouth: James, Vanden Borre, Kaboul, Ben-Haim, Belhadj, Mokoena, Brown, O'Hara, Boateng, Smith, Piquionne.
    • - Bolton have not scored in their last four Premier League away matches, since a 4-3 defeat at Chelsea on April 11. This is their longest run without an away goal in three years since April 2006. If they fail to score today it will be their longest run in five years since a Premier League club record six away matches without a goal from April to Sept 2003.
    • - Portsmouth have lost their opening four matches of the season. It is eight years since a team lost their opening four matches of the Premier League season and avoided relegation, Middlesbrough in 2001-02. If they lose today they will become only the third team in Premier League history to lose their opening five matches of the season. Sunderland (2005-06) were relegated in last place in the table after losing their first five matches.
    • - Portsmouth and Bolton Wanderers have met 90 times in the league. Portsmouth have won 31, Bolton 39 and there have been 20 draws.
  • Summary

    • 89' Bolton win a long throw and Samuel puts it in... AND CAHILL SCORES!!!!! THAT WILL SURELY BE THE WINNER!!!!
    • 86' Chance for Kevin Davies... AND IT'S DEFLECTED OVER!!! Kaboul just got his leg in the way to send the ball over just as it looked as if the Bolton striker had to score!
    • 81' WINNER FOR BOLTON? NO!!! Gary Cahill is clear in on goal six yards out, but miscontrols and ends up fouling Ben-Haim. Davies pops it in from the deflection, but the whistle has gone, and what a missed chance for the visitors!
