    • 90+2' It's a siege of the Everton box now as O'Hara's cross is headed clear.

    • 90' Louis Saha trots off to a fine ovation from the travelling fans and Jo replaces him. Meanwhile Danny Webber is on for Portsmouth.
    • 89' YEBDA!!!! Heads goalwards and Baines clears it off the line!!
    • 88' A cynical pullback from Joseph Yobo, and that's a yellow card for the Nigerian.
    • 87' Howard palms the corner to safety... the ball comes back in but the keepers makes a good save low down at the near post.
    • 86' O'Hara's corner is not properly cleared and Kaboul follows up with a powerful shot from distance... deflected for a corner.
    • 85' Play restarts with a drop ball and it is played back to David James.
    • 83' Heitinga is down injured but Portsmouth play on... eventually Alan Wiley stops play. It looks like Heitinga caught a flailing hand in the face.
    • 82' Jack Rodwell goes into the book.
    • 81' Kanu comes on for Michael Brown with 10 minutes to go.
    • 80' Everton win a corner on their left, and there is plenty of jostling in the area.

    • 61' Bilyaletdinov collides with Kaboul, and this game is in danger of getting a bit nasty.
    • 60' Pienaar is carried off on a stretcher (although he is sitting up) - Diniyar Bilyaletdinov replaces him.
    • 58' Pienaar comes back on and is immediately fouled... he stays down and there are some sharp words between the two sets of players.
    • 57' Pienaar is struggling and limps off for some treatment. He would be a big miss for Everton.
    • 55' Baines tees up a free-kick for Rodwell whose long-range shot is blocked. The ball is still with Everton but Pompey stand their ground very well.
    • 53' Smith looks for the overlapping Kaboul down the right but he overhits his pass and the ball goes out for a goal-kick.

    • 51' BEN HAIM!!! He meets an inswinging free-kick with a glancing header and Howard saves with his left shoulder!!
    • 49' Everton have hardly been out of their half in the second period, and this is an encouraging start from Paul Hart's men.
    • 48' Portsmouth have a handball shout against Cahill turned down by Alan Wiley. That would have been harsh on the Everton man.
    • 46' Portsmouth get the second half under way, but the atmosphere around Fratton Park is quite subdued - it is like they have been kicked in the stomach so many times they now believe defeat is certain. Can their players prove them wrong?
    • 45+2' Half-time, and Everton lead by a goal to nil. Portsmouth have done well, but are being made to pay for another individual error.
    • 45+1' Everton deliver a corner from the left and Cahill meets it with a solid header that is straight at James.
    • 44' Baines clips a cross in from the Everton left but this time Kaboul is more solid and heads to safety.

    • 42' Boateng has another crack, this time from just outside the box. But he is off balance and his low strike presents Howard with an easy save.
    • 41' James comes to claim it, he drops the ball but it lands at his feet and he smothers it at the second attempt.
    • 41' This game is really starting to open up now as Everton win a corner on their left...
    • 40' Boateng control inside the Everton box and ignores two team-mates to go himself; he spins past Distin but blazes his left-foot shot from a tight angle.
    • 38' Fellaini!! The ball is clipped in with James scrambling, but the Belgian's low header is saved by the goalkeeper's feet! Great opportunity for Everton.
    • 37' Everton corner now - they are so dangerous from set pieces - but the delivery is short and Pompey survive with ease.
    • 36' Another Baines cross comes on from the left and Kaboul heads clear for a throw.
    • 34' A slick move from Portsmouth culminates as Smith plays in Dindane brilliantly and the Ivorian's shot forces an excellent save from Howard! Best chance of the game!
    • 33' Baines delivers the free-kick and James makes a towering leap to punch the ball away. Good goalkeeping.
    • 32' Dindane barges Baines after the Everton man has passed the ball, and Portsmouth concede another unnecessary free-kick.
    • 30' Pienaar drags a low left-footed shot from the edge of the box and sends it well wide.
    • 29' Pienaar's cross from the left finds Cahill, but the Australian cannot control his header and sends it flashing over the bar.
    • 28' Howard drops a Portsmouth cross from the right but reacts well to hack the ball away before it falls to a blue shirt.
    • 27' Kaboul's shot is deflected towards the left corner off the top of the wall and Howard comes out of his area to whack a clearance out for a Portsmouth throw.
    • 26' Portsmouth free-kick at least 30 yards out - it will have to be some strike to beat Tim Howard from here.
    • 25' Heitinga hits the free-kick straight into the wall - not the best effort from the Dutch international.
    • 24' Mokoena slides in late and unnecessarily on Saha, and this looks a promising position for Everton.
    • 23' A sign of how uneventful this game has been - even a major satellite broadcaster is prepared to admit the first quarter as been "not the most riveting".
    • 21' Saha tries an ambitious shot, juggling the ball 25 yards out before swivelling and hitting a 25-yard half-volley that whistles a yard or so over!
    • 20' Boateng goes down clutching his knee after an aerial challenge, but a few seconds of the magic spray look to have done the trick and the German should be OK to continue.
    • 19' Baines to Pienaar, inside to Fellaini who attempts a one-two with Saha but the return pass is too heavy.
    • 18' Dindane gets to the ball just ahead of Distin and helps it forward, but his touch is a little heavy and it runs through to Howard.
    • 17' Pompey are passing the ball around confidently as Sulaiman Al-Fahim and Peter Storrie look on from the expensive seats.
    • 15' O'Hara crosses from the left, looking for Brown in the middle, but it is too close to Howard who catches easily.
    • 14' Smith crosses low from the left, and Everton cut it out. But Portsmouth are on top at the moment.
    • 13' Long ball over the top for Smith, who has made a lively start... but he cannot bring the ball under control and sends it out for a goal kick.
    • 11' Portsmouth are well in this game, and they will tell you they have not played as badly this season as their record suggests. Reason for optimism?
    • 10' Boateng plays a superb reverse pass to Dindane cutting inside from the left... he shoots from the angle but sends it wide!
    • 9' CAHILL!! Attempts an ambitious left-foot volley from long range, and James dives to his right to make an acrobatic save, before scrambling to dive on the rebound.
    • 7' Heitinga is beaten on the dribble again, Boateng's cross is cleared as far as Brown, whose low volley is cleared from the edge of the box.
    • 6' Baines takes's the game's first corner, curling it in from the right... O'Hara heads it away at the near post.
    • 5' Leighton Baines is well forward down the Everton left, but he is adjudged to have fouled Boateng and James thrashes the free-kick upfield.
    • 3' Cahill takes on a long shot, but hits it low and straight at James without much power. An easy save.
    • 3' Heitinga hesitates at the back for Everton, nearly presenting a chance to Smith and then O'Hara, but the Dutchman's team-mates are covering well.
    • 2' Pienaar crosses right-footed from the Everton left and nearly finds Louis Saha in the box, but the Frenchman is beaten in the air.
    • 1' Game on! Everton kick off, playing from right to left in black kit with pink trim. Pompey are in blue shirts, white shorts and red socks.
    • - The teams come out on to a sun-bathed Fratton Park pitch, and the crowd are in superb voice despite the club's woes.
    • - Sylvain Distin starts for Everton against his former club, while another ex-Pompey man Yakubu must make do with a place on the bench.
    • - Everton are finding their feet after an uncertain start to the season. Captain Phil Neville is their latest injury absentee but they have a high-class replacement in Johnny Heitinga. In-form Louis Saha continues as a lone striker ahead of Tim Cahill.
    • - Six games and six defeats have made Portsmouth almost unbackable favourites for relegation, putting Paul Hart's job on the line. To make matters worse, rumours are circulating that chairman Peter Storrie is ready to walk away from the club. Worrying times at Fratton Park.

Everton are a small club are they did you know they have spent more seasons in the top flight than any other club.
Arsenal contrary to popular opinion have been relegated even though they have been in the 'First Division' a long time they were only promoted before World War One
when the league was extended and they never actually finished in a promotion spot.
