    Time:90'
    • Portsmouth
    • Manchester United
    • 90+1' UTAKA!!! Volleys acrobatically into the ground and Kuszczak makes an instinctive save to tip it on to the bar!!
    • 89' O'Hara tries to lob Kuszczak from the edge of the box, but the ball drops just over.
    • 87' GOAL!!! RYAN GIGGS!!! His 100th Premier League goal, and it's a superb free-kick! He curls it around the outside of the wall and into the bottom-left corner past the unsighted Begovic.
    • 85; Utaka upends Evra at the edge of the box - it's a foul and a yellow card. And a booking for Kaboul, presumably for backchat.
    • 83' Utaka crosses from the Portsmouth right, and Brown clears. It realy is very wet here.
    • 81' Portsmouth change - Tommy Smith on for Dindane.
    • 80' Anderson! The ball drops to the Brazilian at the edge of the box and he fires just over.
    • 78' Portsmouth change - John Utaka for the ineffective Hassan Yebda.
    • 76' Manchester United change - Anderson replaces Michael Carrick.
    • 74' Vidic slides and lets Boateng in on goal... KUSZCZAK SAVES AGAIN!
    • 72' Valencia and Rooney exchange passes on the break for United, but the Ecuadorian is held up and Pompey get some numbers back.
    • 70' United have taken the intensity down a notch and now Portsmouth are showing more attacking intent. The visitors should be fresh as they fielded a shadow side against Besiktas on Wednesday.
    • 68' Boateng and Dindane both see efforts blocked and Pompey want a penalty for handball against Brown - referee Dean says no!
    • 66' United want another penalty as Giggs slips, but the ref says no dice and the Welshman flashes a sheepish grin as he went to ground very easily.
    • 64' Giggs!! Has a great chance to make it four as a cross comes to him at the back post, but he hits a weak, low shot and Begovic does well to save.
    • 63' There's the change - Kanu replaces Piquionne who has done little except win that dodgy penalty. And Gary Neville has been booked, presumably for chatting back to the ref.
    • 61' Giggs swings in a corner from the United right, which Piquionne heads clear. United well on top now.
    • 60' Boateng gives a 30-yard shot the full gun, but it whistles harmlessly over Kuszczak's goal. Portsmouth are getting Kanu ready to come on.
    • 58' Valencia accelerates inside from the right, shimmying past two players but then shooting well wide with the outside of his right foot.
    • 56' Dindane heads over from the edge of the six-yard box... Boateng tries to gee the crowd up, while Rooney may well be thinking about doing a Defoe.
    • 54' GOAL!!! Rooney completes his hat-trick, sliding the penalty to Begovic's left - United are in danger of running away with this.
    • 54' PENALTY UNITED!! Ryan Giggs is tripped/bundled over by Piquionne right at the edge of the box and Wayne Rooney has a chance to complete his hat-trick! That was the biggest foul of the three, but hardly a stone-waller.
    • 53' Valencia nearly threads a brilliant diagonal ball to Rooney, but the ball is put out for a corner. Rain starting to fall at Fratton Park.
    • 52' Portsmouth work the ball around patiently, but eventually O'Hara tries a killer ball and Evra intercepts.
    • 50' Portsmouth's second-half gameplan must now be torn up as they must now throw bodies forward in search of a second equaliser.
    • 48' GOAL!!!! WAYNE ROONEY!! Fletcher chips down the right channel for Giggs, who lobs a simple ball to his left to Rooney, who stays onside and tucks the ball low past Begovic! Lovely goal, United restore their advantage.
    • 48' Boateng has been very lively this afternoon, and looks one of very few good signings made by Pompey this term.
    • 46' The second half is under way! No personnel changes from either side - United still operating with one up front; they have Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen on the bench.
    • 45+2' That's the end of a pulsating, controversial first half! It has been tremendous entertainment, and Gary Neville gives the ref an earful as the teams go off at the break.
    • 45+1' Vidic is skating on thin ice, as he is penalised for bundling Dindane over. A dangerous free-kick for Portsmouth... Kaboul shoots, and it bounces into the arms of Kuszczak.
    • 44' Flashpoint! Fletcher and Boateng grapple on the floor and both teams come piling in! Referee Dean keeps his cards in his pocket and it's a Portsmouth free-kick which comes to nothing.
    • 42' The visitors are completely bossing possession now, but Piquionne robs Evra and sprints down the right. He crosses towards Dindane and United scramble the ball away! Now United attack, and the ball is set up for yet another Scholes strike that scoots a foot or so wide of the left post. Great match!
    • 40' United are camped inside the Portsmouth half but the home side are doing a good job of denying them space. Scholes misplaces a long, diagonal pass and it is back with Pompey.
    • 38' Yellow card Nemanja Vidic for sliding through Dindane. Looking again at the penalty, Vidic and Piquionne were holding each other's shirts - might the foul have been given for that? If so, it is still ridiculous as the Frenchman was just as guilty of holding.
    • 37' CHANCE FOR PORTSMOUTH!! Dindane comes away on the break and plays it to Boateng, who sends a return pass into the box and Dindane heads wide from around 12 yards!
    • 35' Here come United on the break with Valencia, who plays it inside for Fletcher, and teed up for SCHOLES!! His shot is deflected out for a cormer.
    • 32' Kevin Prince Boateng... SCORES!! He places the ball into the bottom left corner past Kuszczak! Portsmouth on terms, United are furious! The first penalty was soft, the second was bizarre! Fergie is serving his touchline ban and that has to be good news for the fourth official's eardrums.
    • 31' (Apologies for the infrequency of the comments - we're suffering with some technical problems that mean each comment takes about three minutes to save.) PENALTY PORTSMOUTH!! That one is baffling! There was a high ball into the box that Kuszczak punched away but not even a hint of a foul!
    • 27' Portsmouth have a free-kick 30 yards from the United goal on the right side - O'Hara to take it. It's a dangerous left-footed delivery and the ball bounces around the United box... but is scuffed wide for a goal-kick.
    • 25' Rooney with the penalty... SCORES!! He tucks the ball into the right corner - Begovic dives the right way but cannot get there! The visitors lead, but Portsmouth have a right to feel slightly aggrieved.
    • 24' PENALTY UNITED!!! Rooney goes down under Brown's challenge and Mike Dean points to the spot! That's a bit soft to be honest...
    • 21' EVRA!!! Picks the ball up from Giggs and skips inside towards the edge of the box before LASHING A SHOT!! It flashes a foot or so wide of the left post.
    • 19' Valencia collects the ball on the right side of the box. He has Brown and Fletcher to aim at in the middle but his cross is behind both of them (an unlikely attacking duo, it must be said).
    • 17' ANOTHER KUSZCZAK SAVE!! O'Hara hits a dipping volley from the edge of the box and the Polish keeper produces more heroics to tip the ball over! Vidic fails to clear the corner and the ball comes to Kaboul, who heads into Kuszczak's arms! United are all at sea!
    • 15' Dindane again! The Ivorian goes for goal from 25 yards, but drags his shot wide to the left of the target. A bright spell for Portsmouth here.
    • 14' Chance for Dindane now! He gets goalside of Vidic but Kuszczak denies him with a superb point blank save! A real alarm for the champions.
    • 12' Boateng barges Valencia over and United have a free-kick just outside the right corner of the Pompey box - Giggs stands over it, and Hreidarsson heads out for a corner. Giggs plays the corner to the edge of the box for SCHOLES!!! Hits a venomous first-time shot just over! Great hit.
    • 10' A Carrick pass deflects off ref Mike Dean into the path of Giggs, who swivels and clips a diagonal cross into the Pompey box... claimed by Begovic. There would have been no end of controversy had that led to a goal.
    • 8' Boateng is fouled just inside the United half and Pompey look to build their first attack... it is sent high into the United box and Kuszczak makes a solid catch.
    • 5' Uncertain goalkeeping from Kuszczak, who waits for the ball at the edge of his area then makes a last-second decision to come out of the box and head the ball away!
    • 3' Portsmouth are in their blue, white and red home kit. United are in red shorts with black shorts and socks.
    • 1' Game on at Fratton Park! Wayne Rooney is immediately on the attack down the United left but he is 'dealt with' by Younes Kaboul.
    • - Avram Grant takes to the Fratton Park dugout for the first time - his last meeting with Alex Ferguson came at the 2008 Champions League final.
    • - It's a day of unfamiliar goalkeepers, with Asmir Begovic standing in for the injured David James.
    • - No Dimitar Berbatov for Manchester United today - Wayne Rooney plays as a lone striker. And Tomasz Kuszczak gets the nod ahead of Ben Foster with Edwin van der Sar missing.
    • - TEAMS: PORTSMOUTH: Begovic, Ben-Haim, Kaboul, Wilson, Hreidarsson, Piquionne, Yebda, Boateng, Brown, O'Hara, Dindane... Subs: Ashdown, Utaka, Vanden Borre, Smith, Hughes, Kanu, Belhadj... 1. Man U, always getting penalties like peanutes. The ref got paid. @#$% Portsmouth they put good match but their striker Dindane didnt have killer instinct.

  3. Portsmouth should have never had a penalty. What the hell kind of call was that??? It was ridiculous! There was absolutely no foul whatsoever, and absolutely nothing happened where the official could make any sort of case for why he made the call! Of course, I'm not complaining, but it really should have been 4-0. But still, congrats Rooney on your hat trick, and congrats Giggs on a well deserved century.

  4. Man Utd are a great team to watch but please cut out all yout whinging - every decision yesterday was met with a shed load of it - Pompey played well first half but United turned it on second half and Giggs/Rooney are awesome players - as for the ref - spoilt a good game - Chris-Pompey fan

  5. What an excellent welcome for Avram Judas Grant! Portsmouth is going to be bountifully rewarded with a relegation for letting us the fans down by signing a professional back-stabber as the new coach.

  6. With so many questionable decisions by Match Officials. There is no wonder Managers, Players and Supporters become frustrated. So, why don't we have an opportunity to rate the performance of the Referee?

What a useless Manager he is, overpaid, without any football judgment and boring.
He will be responsible for the downfall of Portsmouth.

  13. I think Kuszcak is really good in the game...He manage to save almost all the dangerous strike from Pompey...But seriouslly, last night game not really ok. The team still like jelly...They need to be more settle down with passion and desire for winning...Not played with their emotion like Fletcher...Even Vidic also need more concentration in defend...

Anyway yesterday win is more like a boost for the boy...Come on United, the season is still ticking...Let show the Blues or Pensioners some football...

  14. Man U did not play well yesterday. The actual score should be MU - 1 Pompy - 0. Carrick was not in the game, the few minutes that Anderson play was much better then what Carrick have contributed. Fletcher was allowing his emotion to rule his brain. Vidic was just putting in blind tackles ( He should come back to being his own self). When he first join MU he was very good at what he was doing. He read his opponent very well before he makes a tackle and he is very cool. But of late he spend more time arguing and complaining. Come on guys u are supposed to be pros. u are all worth millions in football and yet all of u do not seem to understand that once the ref. made a decision it can never be reverse. So why not just shut up and get on with the job. That way not only can we stay focus we will also not be on the wrong side of the ref. I love Man U very much and am sad to see us getting all work up every game over petty things that at the end of the day we would not help our cause.

  15. AVRAM GRANT MADE A STATEMENT THAT HE HAS A VERY SECRET TALMUDIC TACTIC UNKNOWN BY ANYBODY.
HE SAID THAT DURING THE GAME,THE WHOLE TEAM WILL DANCE NAGYLA WITH SPECIAL STEPS IN ORDER TO CONFUSE THE ADVERSARY.ALSO,HE SAID THAT WHEN HIS TEAM HAS THE BALL,THE PLAYERS ENCIRCLE THE PLAYER WITH THE BALL UNTIL THEY REACH THE BOX AND PLACE A VERY EFFECTIVE SHOOT IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEND DUE TO THE DANCE AND DEADLY EFFECT OF THE BALL!
REGARDING TODAY'S GAME I SUPPOSE GRANT DID NOT HAVE TIME TO IMPLEMENT THE NEW SCHEME.I AM VERY CONFIDENT THAT WE WILL SEE THE NEW ERA OF THE GRANT TACTIC NEXT GAME!!!
