    • - So, Chelsea go three points clear at the top of the Premier League table, at least for a few hours, thanks to goals by Drogba and Malouda!
    • 90'+5 And there goes the full time whistle! All over at the Britannia! And Chelsea leave it very, very late to pick up all three points!
    • 90'+4 GOAL! CHELSEA TAKE THE LEAD! IT WAS COMING! MALOUDA FINDS THE BACK OF THE NET! Simonsen should have done better, but it's delight for Chelsea and heartbreak for Stoke!
    • 90' FIVE minutes of added time to be played! Incredible!
    • 88' Still no way through for Chelsea, despite incessant pressure!
    • 85' Hacked clear by the Stoke defence! Are they going to hold on for a great point?!
    • 84' Just over five minutes remaining and still Stoke hold firm. But Chelsea have a free-kick in a dangerous position now.
    • 83' Belletti comes on to replace Mikel as Chelsea look to find a way through with time ticking down.
    • 81' Tuncay looks to hit Chelsea on the break with a strong run against Terry... but the England skipper stands firm and the visitors come away with the ball...
    • 80' Bosingwa delivers a centre now.... Shawcross takes no chances and heads behind. How many corners is that for Chelsea now this half? Perhaps double figures.
    • 79' Drobga puts the ball back to Lampard, but desperate defending from Faye denies Chelsea the lead! Real backs-against-the-wall stuff!
    • 78' Oooh! Simonsen comes to Stoke's rescue with a great save low down to his right to deny Essien!
    • 77' Wilkinson goes into the book as he flies into Essien... you might call that tenacious. You might also call that dirty.
    • 76' A quarter of an hour remaining, and Stoke really aren't getting a look in at the moment.
    • 75' Brilliant from Drogba! He takes the ball down on his chest at the back stick but he can't quite find the back of the net because Faye blocks bravely!
    • 74' Lampard lashes over the bar from the right side of the box... still no breakthrough for the visitors.
    • 70' It's all Chelsea at the moment... Essien now fires over the bar, but they're getting closer...
    • 69' Neat stuff from Chelsea in the Stoke box involving Bosingwa, Drogba and Lampard, but the latter's final effort is deflected wide!
    • 66' Bosingwa cuts inside and sends an effort bouncing wide of the mark!
    • 65' Time for Kitson to depart too... on comes Tuncay in his place!
    • 65' And Essien also enters the fray for Chelsea, at the expense of Ballack.
    • 64' Whelan makes a mistake at the back... Lampard nearly capitalises! But Shawcross comes over to mop up the danger!
    • 63' Anelka comes on to replace Kalou as Chelsea make their first change of the day.
    • 63' Huth sustained a bloody nose in that chance... he'll be fine after a change of shirt.
    • 62' Stoke win another corner from a Delap long throw... HUTH heads over the bar! He was a bit unsighted, but he should maybe have done better with that!
    • 59' Delap is booked now for a few nips on the ankles of Mikel...
    • 58' Oooh! Kitson heads on target from the corner! But Cech pounces on it to make the save!
    • 58' But Stoke come again and they win a throw! Delap takes it, and Cech is forced to punch behind for a corner!
    • 57' Stoke have a free-kick now, 30 yards out... Whelan whips it in, but Malouda is there to head clear for Chelsea.
    • 56' Simonesen claims a Malouda corner and he looks to set off a swift break for the hosts...
    • 53' Cole piles in on Fuller again...that's a bad challenge as the Jamaican looks to break quickly.... and Cole picks up deserved yellow... "Ashley Cole, you're a (rhymes with merchant banker)" is the shout from the Stoke fans!
    • 50' Lovely ball in by Bosingwa, who got past Collins all too easily. But it's just over the head of Drogba.
    • 49' Chelsea have started this second half really brightly... you get the feeling it will have to be a monster effort by Stoke from now on if they are to get something from this game.
    • 48' Another chance for Chelsea as Ballack nods down to Drogba! But he blazes over the bar! Cracking start by the visitors!
    • 47' Oooh! Nearly a goal right from the off as Kalou breaks down the Chelsea left... but his ball towards the near post is claimed by Simonsen! Good football from Chelsea there...
    • 46' Here we go again! Back underway at the Britannia Stadium! No changes to tell you about.
    • 45'+8 Finally, the half proceedings are brought to a close, with things level at 1-1 after Drogba cancelled out Faye's opener.
    • 45'+7 Oooh! Cole gets to the by-line before delivering a cross towards the near post! Hacked clear by Faye!
    • 45'+6 Terry's back up now, and he'll be back on soon enough. Lampard and Kitson are spoken to by the ref as things get a little heated.
    • 45'+5 Terry goes into the book for a foul on Kitson... and Stoke have a free-kick... Terry goes down though, and he looks to be in some discomfort.
    • 45'+4 Clinical from Drogba... and it's no less than Chelsea deserve, given their possession this half.
    • 45'+3 GOAL! DROGBA EQUALISES! Fantastic strike from the Ivorian as he turns onto Lampard's cute pass through which finds the Stoke defence wanting and blasts past Simonsen! 1-1!
    • 45'+2 MIKEL! Ooh! That's the nearest Chelsea have come to scoring this half! But it's well blocked by Huth!
    • 45' Chelsea in possession as the board goes up to signal eight (eight?!) minutes of added time to be played. Tony Pulis and Peter Reid find that rather amusing.
    • 44' Cole collapses under a Fuller challenge... Terry comes racing over to give the Jamaican some verbals, but it was nothing more than a foul and JT should really calm down.
    • 43' Great turn by Kalou from Lampard's ball through, but he's pulled up for a foul. It's not been the Ivorian's day so far today...
    • 42' Lampard delivers it... but it flicks off a Stoke head and out the other side for a Chelsea throw.
    • 41' Sorensen won't make it until half-time... he comes off clutching his hip. On comes Steve Simonsen, who will have to defend a corner as his first act.
    • 40' Super stuff from Drogba, who takes the ball on his chest in the box... Huth comes across to slide in and put the ball behind for a corner!
    • 39' Delap launches another bomb into the Chelsea box... Cech claims as Kitson falls over. Absolutely no question of a penalty, despite loud appeals from behind the goal.
    • 38' Sorensen is now holding his hip... but for the timebeing he's still on the pitch and it looks like he's going to try to see out the half.
    • 37' Oh dear, Bosingwa gets pulled up for a foul throw. Schoolboy error from someone who should know better...
    • 36' Sorensen has a problem with his hamstring here... he signals to the bench and it looks like he's going to have to come off.
    • 35' Fuller tries to get on a long ball forward... this time Terry deals with it, nodding to Ivanovic to his right, who clears up field.
    • 34' Drogba now gets himself into a shooting position but his effort is way over the bar!
    • 33' Cole nearly levels things up straight away! Malouda plays in the England defender, who lets fly with his left foot! Sorensen gets behind it well to make the save!
    • 32' GOAL! STOKE TAKE THE LEAD! Whelan centres... Cech comes way off his line then decides not to, while Terry allows Faye a free header to nod past the keeper who is stuck in no-man's land! Terrible defending! But what a goal for Stoke! 1-0 to the hosts!
    • 32' Whelan takes it... but Cech is there again to punch clear.
    • 32' This is better from Stoke now as Fuller wins a corner off Cole!
    • 31' Ivanovic isn't having the best of games... he lumps a long ball forward to no one in particular and the crowd cheers as the ball bounces out for a goal kick.
    • 30' Sorensen takes a real chance by turning inside Drogba in his own penalty area! He gets away with it - this time!
    • 29' Bosingwa gets a word from the ref now as he throws the ball away with Stoke wanting to take a throw quickly.
    • 28' Fuller goes down heavily now as he clashes with Ivanovic and Mikel... it's a foul, but nothing more.
    • 27' Delap with another chance now to launch a long throw... but it's too close to Cech, who claims under no pressure.
    • 26' Lampard now tries to recreate his goalscoring form of midweek with a snap shot from 25 yards... but he can't and the ball tamely bounces wide of the mark.
    • 26' Chelsea maintain the pressure though... but Ballack spoons one over the bar. And the crowd let out a huge ironic cheer.
    • 25' That said, the Stoke keeper has to be alert here as a shot takes a deflectiona and balloons up over him... he has to backpeddle, but is able to make the save. The whistle goes anyway for a foul by Kalou who was challenging him.
    • 24' Chelsea are still dominating possession, yet they are still to trouble Sorensen.
    • 23' Oh dear, that's poor from Bosingwa as he sends a cross from the Chelsea right sailing into the stands behind Sorensen's goal.
    • 22' Cole gets booed now as he gets a touch of the ball... bit harsh really, Shawcross deserved that booking.
    • 20' Good defending this time by Ivanovic as he outmuscles Fuller down at the by-line... no mean feat.
    • 18' Whelan takes the free-kick but it's cleared... moments later Shawcross flies in on Cole, who follows through onto the Stoke man's boot. Ouch. Yellow for the Stoke player!
    • 17' Delap launches a long throw, but it doesn't get very far as Kalou jumps up in front of the thrower and heads clear! Hilarious! But Kalou isn't laughing as he gets shown a yellow card!
    • 16' Fuller goes down now under the challenge of Cole... the crowd don't like that one... but the referee signals a throw-in and nothing more.
    • 15' Stoke get a taste of their own medicine now as Ivanovic launches a long throw into the box... headed away by Faye, but to the delight of the vociferous home crowd.
    • 14' Ballack whips a ball in now, but it's headed clear by Shawcross, one of that central defensive trio.
    • 13' Off goes Beattie... and on comes Fuller, who sees some action a little quicker than he thought he would.
    • 12' It looks like that will be Beattie's last involvement... he went down heavily after that shot... looks like his ankle. He's in real pain and surely he'll have to come off.
    • 11' Oooh! Real chance for Beattie as Ivanovic makes a total hash of clearing a long ball forward... it bounces against his chest, straight into Beattie's path! But he snaps at it and hits it first time wide of the post!
    • 10' The ball is played up towards Beattie by Shawcross now... but the target man can't make anything of it...
    • 9' The resulting corner isn't as good and Cech claims easily.
    • 8' Drogba is forced into heading Whelan's ball into the box behind for a corner!
    • 8' Free-kick now to Stoke and there could be danger here with Huth and Collins in the side...
    • 7' Chelsea are enjoying a great deal of the possession at the moment, but so far they're yet to test Sorensen in the Stoke goal.
    • 6' Chelsea are going for a 10th consecutive win today which will match a record set by Jose Mourinho's side in 2005-6.
    • 5' The noise around the stadium is incredible as the home crowd get well behind their team!
    • 4' Malouda chips forward towards Drogba, but the Ivorian goes down under the challenge of... well, no one in particular... but he stays down nonetheless and calls on the Chelsea physio. The crowd don't like it.
    • 3' Whitehead is caught in possession by Lampard and Chelsea come again...
    • 2' Wilkinson draws a big cheer as hacks clear but Cole picks the ball up on the left before playing a one-two with Lampard and sending over a dangerous looking ball into the middle. Cleared by Collins!
    • 1' Here we go! Underway in the Potteries! Chelsea kick-off, playing right to left, as we look at it.
    • - Here come the teams to a rapturous reception at a sun-soaked Britannia!
    • - Chelsea can go clear at the top of the Premier League with a point today - at least until Tottenham play Manchester United in the late kick-off. Premier League table
    • - For Stoke, Collins does indeed get a debut, as does Robert Huth, while James Beattie plays up front alongside Dave Kitson in a surprise 3-5-2 formation. Ricardo Fuller starts on a strong-looking bench for the Potters today which includes Ireland's midweek goalscorer Liam Lawrence, Tuncay and Mathew Etherington.
    • - Well, having said that, Chelsea name four changes, with Ivanovic coming in for Carvalho while Mikel, Malouda and Kalou replace Essien, Deco and Anelka.
    • - And today's referee is Mike Dean (Wirral).
    • - And Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Ashley Cole, Mikel, Ballack, Malouda, Lampard, Kalou, Drogba - Subs: Hilario, Essien, Carvalho, Sturridge, Belletti, Anelka, Hutchinson
    • - The teams are in... here's how Stoke line up: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Huth, Abdoulaye Faye, Shawcross, Collins, Delap, Whitehead, Whelan, Beattie, Kitson - Subs: Simonsen, Higginbotham, Lawrence, Fuller, Pugh, Sanli, Etherington
    • - Don't forget, you'll be able to follow all the goals from every Premier League game as they go in today right here!
    • - More concrete team news as and when we get it...
    • - Chelsea are likely to name an unchanged side - why would they? - while Stoke boss Tony Pulis may give a debut to Danny Collins, signed from Sunderland on deadline day.
    • - Under Carlo Ancelotti, Chelsea have been one of the standout teams of this season so far but with two wins and a draw from four games, Stoke have marked themselves out as no pushovers - particularly at the Britannia Stadium.
    • - The last three Premier League goals scored by the strike partnership of Nicolas Anelka (2) and Didier Drogba (1) have each been assisted by the other player.
    • - Chelsea have won their last nine Premier League matches. If they win today it will equal their top flight club record of ten consecutive victories, set by Jose Mourinho's side from November 2005 to January 2006.
    • - Stoke have kept seven clean sheets in 11 Premier League matches at home in 2009 and conceded four goals, fewer than any other side in the division this year.
    • - Chelsea are unbeaten in their last six league matches against Stoke, winning the last five, since a 3-0 away defeat in the old Division One in April 1975.
  • Summary

    • 90'+4 GOAL! CHELSEA TAKE THE LEAD! IT WAS COMING! MALOUDA FINDS THE BACK OF THE NET! Simonsen should have done better, but it's delight for Chelsea and heartbreak for Stoke!

  17. As someone who is not a supporter of any of the big 4 and not a fan of conspiracy theory i must say that it sucks that the big 4 seem to benefit more from extra minutes and crucial decisions. In the interest of the whole game i like to see the monolopy challenged but if there wealth is not a big enough advantage the decisions also go there way, i can only think that the referees are too concious of the financial implications of upsetting them. Still dont worry us under achievers will get our chance to get behind the likes of Lampard and Gerrard at the next world cup and share in the big 4 flavour , oh , i forgot 2006, couldnt score from 12 yards..great stuff
