  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Stoke City
    • Wolverhampton Wanderers
    • 90' And that's it. 2-2 the final score. Wolves coming back from two down to claim a point. The result isn't really of benefit to either team, but the way Wolves forced their way back into contention means that they will depart from the Britannia Stadium as the happier of the two sets of teams
    • 90' Stoke failing to get the ball down and play it, and they've cheaply given the ball away to Wolves. Their counter-attack through Doyle is smartly snuffed out by Sorensen, however.
    • 89' As things stand, Wolves have to be the happier of the two teams here. They're starting to cling on a bit though.
    • 88' Four minutes of stoppage time have been shown. Not sure where that time has come from to be honest?
    • 87' We're now into the final five minutes of normal-time, can either team secure that all-important winner?
    • 84' Zubar steers the ball back to Milijas down Wolves' right-flank but the midfielder's first-time shot is high, wide and not very pretty
    • 82' Nenad Milijas' delivery into the Stoke box is met by Henry but he is flagged offside. True end-to-end stuff now
    • 81' Golden chance for Stoke as an unmarked Abdoulaye Faye heads over from a Liam Lawrence corner. Tony Pulis is truely enraged with that
    • 80' Such passion being shown by both teams as they go for the jugular in search of the win. But... no real clear-cut chances to speak of since that equaliser from Wolves - both teams sloppy in their delivery and balls around the box
    • 79' Delap made way for Lawrence by the way
    • 78' Dreadful cross from Kightly on the right which evades everyone and loops harmlessly behind the Stoke goal.
    • 77' Final substituiton for Stoke, Liam Lawrence is on. Can he inject a bit of passion back into his team?
    • 77' Wolves force a throw-in down the right after Faye bundles the ball out. Good position this, and from the throw-in a flick-header from Stearman is gathered by Sorensen
    • 75' The home fans looking a little perplexed at their team's second-half display -there's been no fluidity. Mind you, Wolves have been lacking that spark since equalising aswell.
    • 73' The game is now swinging from one end to the other. And it's time for Stoke's second substitution with Riccardo Fuller coming off for Tuncay Sanli
    • 70' Final substitution for Wolves, Iwelumo leaves the pitch and is replaced by Stefan Maierhofer
    • 68' Substitution for Stoke - James Beattie coming off and it looks like Mamady Sidibe will be joining the action
    • 67' Delap to launch another throw into the box, but to no avail, and Wolves can break here, but Ryan Shawcross gets across quickly to rob the ball from Doyle's feet. Crucial interception
    • 66' Stoke come close, but Wolves defend well. Blocking both Fuller and then Beattie's attempts from close-in
    • 64' Wolves' tails are now firmly up - very uncharacteristic of Stoke to have given up their lead in this way. Who knows which way this match will turn next!
    • 62' Wolves have turned it round and it's that man Jody Craddock who thumps the second corner past Sorensen with his head from close-in. Captain's impact, hey?
    • 61' GOAL FOR WOLVES!
    • 61' Looping corner for Wolves. And it looks like Berra heads over, but another corner is given...
    • 60' Wolves coping with Delap's missiles a lot easier now. When the ball eventrually comes back into the box, Beattie is strecthing but unable to steer the ball into the Wolves goal from a couple of yards out.
    • 58' Very scrappy at the moment, and Tony Pulis is looking on with some concern. Iwelumo goes in a little heavy-handed on Faye, and Stoke get the free-kick to clear deep inside their own penalty area.
    • 57' And to complete Elokobi's day he's now been subbed for Wolves for Richard Stearman
    • 55' Iwelumo bemoans the lack of service into his feet, and from that Stoke can break but Beattie's foot to the ball is collected by Hennessey
    • 53' Wolves continuing to burst forward. Kightly's cross from the left is dealt with by Sorensen
    • 52' Elokobi's day goes from bad to worse, as the right-back is given a yellow for a clumsy challenge on Etherington
    • 50' Stoke just need to take stock of things here. Rory Delap launches his throw-in into the Wolves box but Hennessey is on hand to comfortably claim
    • 49' I should also say that Milijas provided the goal for Craddock. Great impact from the sub
    • 49' Wolves with some fantastic attacking intent in this half. With McCarthy's words still ringing in their ears, Milijas sends in a free-kick which Sorensen claims after back-pedalling. Doyle had got the free-kick after a fantastic burst of pace. Much better from Wolves already
    • 48' Nenad Milijas came on for Castillo at half-time for Wolves
    • 47' Well what a start to this second-half for the away team! But was Craddock off-side when he got the final touch? In any case, it's given. A looping cross into the box, Sorensen flapping, and Craddock tucks home.
    • 47' GOAL FOR WOLVES!
    • 46' And we're now underway in the second half as Wolves kick off
    • 45' And that is half-time. I should also poitn out that David Edwards received a booking for dissent shortly before Etherington's goal. Wolves with it all to do...
    • 45' Wolves keeping possession and Castillo's ball into the box is knocked down by Doyle, but Stoke react quickly to the danger and clear before he can get a shot away.
    • 45' That second goal has woken up Wolves and, lets be honest, they needed to. But on two occasions Thomas Sorensen is able to gather calmly under relativley little pressure.
    • 44' And we will have three minutes stoppage time at the end of this first half.
    • 43' Matty Etherington rifles the ball into the top of the net after Wolves fail to deal with Delap's missile throw. Great technique that, on the turn from just outside the penalty area. Worrying signs for Wolves
    • 43' GOAL FOR STOKE!
    • 42' Chris Iwelumo is adjudgesd offside after linking up well with Doyle. Perhaps Wovles brightest move of the half that.
    • 41' Wolves trying to patiently play the ball through now, and Mick McCarthy looks increasingly worried by his team's lack of incisiveness
    • 39' Delap and Etherington have been causing the Wolves backline all sorts of problems through the match
    • 38' Hennessey launches the ball at the Stoke goal and Thomas Sorensen gets nowhere near claiming it, but gets the benefit of the doubt from ref Foy as Iwelumo is adjudged to foul the Dane. Let off Stoke's normally solid keeper.
    • 36' Wolves finding it very difficult to cope with Stoke's piercing missiles into the box, and when they do break Doyle has insufficient support and is crowded out comfortably
    • 35' Throw-in for Stoke on the right which Delap launches into the box but Craddock is first to the ball.
    • 33' Michael Kightly receives the first booking of the match after hauling down Etheringtron out on the left-flank
    • 31' The looping corner is comfortably dealt with by Hennessey. Wolves looked to break through Kightly but Stoke are quick to track back and retrieve possession
    • 30' Wolves on very rocky ground at the moment. As Ronald Zubar is forced to concede a corner under pressure from Etherington
    • 29' Hennessy pulls off a brilliant reflex save to deny Beattie, who has been everywhere so far. Another exceptional cross from Etherington - those two linking up nicely
    • 28' A totally useless shot from Segundo Castillo. He was fully 35 yards out and off balance. Lets just say the finish left a lot to be desired...
    • 26' Riccardo Fuller is played through but loses the ball between his feet, but Beattie is quick to react unfortunately for him he blazes over after trying to sidestep the Wolves defence from close-in
    • 25' Wolves haven't created much since going behind. They look like they've resorted to route-one football and Iwelumo and Doyle upfront have just not got going.
    • 23' GOAL CORRECTION And for the goal, it appears that Elokobi got the final touch, so it was an own-goal that put Stoke ahead. My apologies to Beattie fans out there, but that's what has been called...
    • 21' The game has been stopped for several minutes, although Beattie now looks ok after receiving treatment, as he rejoins the action
    • 20' Tony Pulis looks on with a grave face as Beattie lands awkwardly after jumping for the ball. Ouch!
    • 18' Stoke in the ascendency now. They have a free-kick out on the left but the delivery from Etherington is poor.
    • 17' James Beattie makes up for Fuller's error and continues his hot streak in front of goal, evading both Berra and Craddock to slot home Matthew Etherington's pin-point cross
    • 17' GOAL FOR STOKE!
    • 15' Rory Delap launches the ball in and Ricardo Fuller heads over unmarked. Wasted opportunity for Stoke
    • 13' And Wolves stick the ball in the net but it's been ruled out. Castillo clipped the ball in, and I think the ref blew for an infraction by Christophe Berra. That's the closest we've come to a breakthrough at the Britannia Stadium
    • 11' Andy Wilkinson blazes over as Wolves scramble to clear the ball from their area
    • 11' ... but he drills the ball straight into the wall and the appeals for hand-ball against Karl Henry are waived away by Foy. Although, on second viewing, it did look like his hand was high and with intent.
    • 9' That's a poor challenge again from Berra on Whitehead. Giving Stoke a great opportunity to score with the free-kick just outside the peanlty area. James Beattie shaping up...
    • 8' Stoke looking a little rattled in these opening exchanges, Wolves are certainly disrupting their rhythm and creating the odd opening when they seize possession
    • 6' Edwards is starting to prove to be a menace down the right-hand flank for Wolves. He's unable to find Doyle but forces a corner, from which the delivery is poor and wasteful
    • 5' Ricardo Fuller goes down in a heap, after a strong challenge from Christophe Berra. On the replay Berra shown to have been nowhere near the ball.
    • 3' Stoke force a corner, and from the delivery the ball is scrambled away by Craddock. Wolves really under pressure there, no one stood up to the plate
    • 2' Good move from Wolves. Segundo Castillo skipping through the stoke midfield before setting up Michael Kightly who blasts straight at Sorensen from just outside the area.
    • 2' Rory Delap launches one of his trademark long throws into the penalty area but its safely gathered by Wayne Hennessey
    • 1' And we're now underway with Stoke attacking from left to right
    • - And the teams are now making their way on to the pitch. Massive game this for both sides - Stoke looking to cement their top 10 position, while Wolves be looking to move clear of that perilous relegation zone.
    • - Wolves could provisionally move up to 11th with victory this afternoon, and if results go their way. Plenty of incentive for Mick McCathry's boys then, after the manager said this week that his team would follow 'their own instincts' to ensure the club are not one-season wonders in the top flight.
    • - And I'll just point out that today's referee is Chris Foy from Merseyside
    • - Stoke will be looking to build on their impressive premier league campaign thus far. Their only three defeats this season have come against Big Four teams - Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United - and hopes are certainly high amongst the home crowd today, as we steadily approach kick-off
    • - And for Wolves, Stefan Maierhofer is available following a one-match ban, but has to be content with a place on the bench. Kevin Doyle and Chris Iwelumo start in attack, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake makes way in the starting XI. On-loan defender Michael Mancienne is available again after recovering from illness, but isn't part of today's squad.
    • - And here is the team news. For Stoke, goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is recalled despite his replacement, Steve Simonsen, performing heroics against Spurs last weekend. Mamady Sidibe is on the bench following his recovery from a knee injury, and is joined there by Tuncay Sanli. But defender Robert Huth is still suspended.
    • - Stoke have shipped a league-high 45 per cent of their goals against) in the final 15 minutes of their games (five conceded in this period).
    • - Stoke have won only once in their last seven meetings with Wolves.
    • - Welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League game between Stoke and Wolves.

I just hope that Wolves can emulate what Stoke have done and consolidate their place in the Premier. It's about time we had more Midland teams in the top flight. If the Baggies can keep up their current form they'll be back next season and we can all look forward to some tasty derby matches!

Unfortunately some people can't stop themselves swearing. Maybe we should all be aware that kids come on these forums as well - they are, after all, open to everyone. It doesn't do Wolves or any other team's image any favours when people who support them start using abusive language towards others - no matter which team they support!
