    • 90+4' The final whistle goes, and Spurs equal the Premier League record for the most goals scored in a single match, as does Defoe with his personal haul of five. Quite simply breathtaking.
    • 90+3' GOAL!! Too easy for Tottenham as Bentley gives it to Kranjcar, and the Croat turns and blasts in a shot right into the top corner! Surely that's it now. Surely.
    • 90' The fourth official signals four minutes of added time. Just put Wigan out of their misery, please.
    • 88' GOAL!! And another, this time for Bentley! The substitute hits and lovely bending free-kick that hits the bar and then rebounds in off the back of Kirkland's head! When it's not your day, it's really not your day!
    • 87' GOAL!! Erik Edman woefully miscontrols a long ball and Defoe pounces for his FIFTH of the match!! Is this really the same team that beat Villa and Chelsea earlier in the season?
    • 86' Bentley is obstructed by Edman and Corluka plays the quick free-kick to Jenas. Spurs are happy to bide their time their time in midfield.
    • 85' Mario Melchiot is replaced by Cho Won-Hee for Wigan.
    • 85' Tottenahm's first corner is headed behind for another, but this time Spurs can't work a chance. Bassong comes across the snuff out the Wigan break.
    • 84' Just before the corner is taken Jermaine Jenas replaces Palacios.
    • 83' Defoe is played clean through again and it could be FIVE... Boyce slides in to make a great tackle and concede the corner.
    • 81' Another change for Spurs now as Assou-Ekotto makes way for Sebastien Bassong.
    • 80' Scharner tries to bend a striker past Gomes but the Brazilian stretches to make the save.
    • 78' Tottenham make a change now as Lennon is repalced by David Bentley. A goal and three assists for Lennon is not a bad return after a month out injured.
    • 77' Palacios is down injured after Rodallega stepped on his ankle. Hard to know if he meant it or not, but either way Palacios is receiving treatment.
    • 76' Assou-Ekotto curls in a cross from deep for CROUCH... headed wide of the near upright!
    • 75' Lennon floats in a cross that Bramble clears away with a diving header. This match is going from one end to the other now.
    • 73' Rodallega fires another strike from distance that deflects behind for a corner. Wigan can't create a chance from the set piece and Spurs clear.
    • 71' Huddlestone and Krancjar run rings around Wigan as the former finds the latter and the Croat bends a curling effort just wide of the top corner.
    • 70' Rodallega fights his way to the byline but Gomes is down low to stop the cross getting to Scotland.
    • 69' GOAL!! Spurs come forward again and Corluka slides a ball into the path of Defoe who just can't miss at the moment and he fires in his FOURTH of the match!
    • 68' Dawson slides in to block a cross and concede a corner. Gomes punches away unconvincingly but makes up for it with his catch of the second ball.
    • 67' Roberto Martinez makes the game's first change. He brings on Jordi Gomez in place of Hendry Thomas.
    • 66' Scharner comes into the centre and fancies a second... this time he fires wide from outside the box.
    • 65' Defoe is away again, on his own... and offside.
    • 65 GOAL!! Crouch plays it out to Lennon on the right and he fires low into the far corner! Lennon certainly deserves his goal after setting up three. Spurs now 5-1 up!
    • 62' Defoe released into acres of space down the left, but he's offside.
    • 61' Crouch is at the far post with a header... Another good save from Kirkland!
    • 59' Defoe sends another cross to the far post but Crouch can't get to it.
    • 58' GOAL!! Spurs hit right back and it's a hat-trick for Defoe! Lennon cuts a ball back from the byline and Defoe once more blasts into the net from close range!
    • 57' GOAL!! That's a good start! Rodallega finds Scharner unmarked with a cross, and the Austrian blatantly controls with his hand before firing into the net! The referee has given it! Wonder where Scharner got that idea from?
    • 56' That quickfire brace from Defoe makes it pretty hard to see how Wigan can get anything from this one now.
    • 55' Kranjcar sends a ball to the far post and Crouch hits it back across goal. The ball deflects off of Kirkand and Bramble has to hack it away!
    • 54' GOAL!! Palacios plays a through ball up to Defoe that Boyce fails to cut out. Defoe takes the ball wide but fires a clinical shot across Kirkland and into the far corner!
    • 53' Palacios loses the ball in midfield but does well to win it back off Scotland.
    • 51' GOAL!! It's a second assist for Lennon as his curling low ball is hammered into the roof of the net by Defoe! That's seven goals in 11 Premer League appearances for the England striker.
    • 50' Hendry Thomas tries a pass back to Kirkland but concedes a corner. The short set piece doesn't quite work out and then Wigan defend stoutly.
    • 49' Defoe sends a looping header that lands on the roof of the net!
    • 48' Rodallega is fit to continue. The free-kick is floated in and Gomes comes out to claim and doesn't... the ball drops just wide of the open goal! Wigan want a corner, but the referee correctly gives Spurs a free-kick for a foul on Gomes.
    • 47' Palacios gives Rodallega a nasty nibble on the ankle, and the Colombian striker has stayed down. He looks in some pain.
    • 46' Wigan get the second half underway!
    • HT By the way, Kranjcar received his booking near the end of the half for a trip on Melchiot, which was perhaps a little harsh.
    • HT The teams are coming back out on to the pitch, we'll soon be off and running again.
    • 45+2' Tottenham can't work a chance from the corner and the whistle goes for half-time. An impressive showing from Spurs but Wigan are still in this game at the break.
    • 45+1' Defoe is fed out wide but turns back towards goal as though Bramble wasn't there. He lines up a strike... tipped on to the roof of the net by Kirkland!
    • 45' Lennon chips a ball to the far post that is over Crouch and Krancjar just can't make it there in time.
    • 44' It will be N'Zogbia to curl it round the wall... it's on target but an easy catch for Gomes.
    • 43' Palacios hammers the ball downfield but is penalised for obstructed Scotland. Wigan have a decent chance for a dead-ball strike here...
    • 42' Defoe does everything right as he checks on to his right foot but he blazes a shot into the crowd. It almost went out for a throw!
    • 40' Rodallega has a pop from distance but it was always going wide.
    • 39' N'Zogbia checks inside Assou-Ekotto and bends a shot just wide of the far top corner! Good effort.
    • 38' Scotland finds Rodallega with a clever quick ball but Woodgate is alert to the danger and intercepts.
    • 37' Corluka is caught in possession by Rodallega, but Palacios charges in to rescue his team-mate.
    • 36' Defoe is lurking as the long ball coems in but Bramble calmly heads back to Kirkland.
    • 35' Spurs have a free-kick on the right now. Kranjcar's delivery is turned away and Wigan have a throw.
    • 34' Defoe is through after a neat reverse pass from Kranjcar... he hits the bar!! Kirkland may have got a fingertip to it, if so then it was a great save!
    • 33' Robbie Keane gives his home fans a clap as he jogs up and down the touchline.
    • 32' Lennon pops up on the left now. Kranjcar finds Huddlestone who plays a through ball up to Defoe, who is offside again.
    • 31' The ball curls in and it's an easy catch for Gomes. The keeper throwd the ball straight to Edman who finds SCOTLAND... Saved by Gomes! He atoned for his error there.
    • 30' Corluka trips Diame on the left wing. Good set-piece opportunity here.
    • 29' Edman plays a ball down the channel and it's out for a corner. Headed away at the near post by Huddlestone and Scharner is offside when the ball comes back in.
    • 28' Woodgate is penalised for a foul in the centre circle. Wigan play it short and Palacios fouls this time, a little closer to goal.
    • 26' Huddlestone floats a free-kick to Crouch but his header can't find a team-mate. Spurs build another attack but Corluka's cross is out for a goal kick.
    • 25' Scotland turns on the edge of the and strikes... way over the bar and into the stands. Still 13 appearances and counting for his first goal.
    • 25' Defoe wins another corner off of Bramble. Played short to Lennon and then Kranjcar squares it for Huddlestone... drilled inches wide of the foot of the post!
    • 24' Melchiot curls a cross in but Corluka gets his head to it before Rodallega.
    • 23' Rodallega strides forward with intent but slashes his shot into the crowd.
    • 22' Diame sprays a decent pass out to N'Zogbia but again Kranjcar tracks back to help his defenders.

    • 13' Edman is not under any pressure but he still heads Defoe's cross behind for a corner.
    • 12' Lennon is on the edge of the box, but Crouch gets in his way as he comes back from an offside position.
    • 11' Huddlestone pings the ball out to Lennon, who whacks a first time cross over for Crouch. The looping header is too high for Defoe and Lennon's follow-up shot is saved and held by Kirkland. Wigan really under it now.
    • 10' Defoe is caught offside as he looked to turn and charge towards goal.

  17. Nine goals against any Premier team is an awesome result, and realise that, I was at the Spurs v Liverpool game and I agree we were lucky only to loose 2-1. I can't see Liverpool winning anything this this season, which is very disappointing, but a slight consolation is that we beat the mancs again, and if when we beat them again I'll be happy as a pig in poo. To be honest, and you have to agree, the mancs are gonna win @#$% all also.

  18. I love all the Chelsea & Liverpool fans going off on one about this result saying that theyd like to see Tottenham score 9 against teams like themselves, United etc and that Wigan are a 'poor' side - also telling them not to get too excited...

Wigan are SO poor infact that Chelsea lost 3-1 to them :-)....
And Spurs might not have got the nine goals against the Scousers, but at least they still beat you didn't they??

Well done Spurs, great result. From a Man United fan
