    • 90'+4 There goes the final whistle! And it ends 1-1!
    • 89' Four minutes of added time to be played.
    • 86' Wolves make two more changes... off goes Kightly and Ebanks-Blake as Halford and Iwelumo.

    • 82' PENALTY TO WOVLES! Sidwell hauls down Kightly after a lovely back heel from Milijas and the hosts have a golden opportunity to level!
    • 79' GOAL! THE DEADLOCK IS BROKEN BY AGBONLAHOR! It's a great turn and finish from the England striker, having been fed in the box by Heskey! Craddock is left for dead and Agbonlahor fires home to put Villa into the lead!
    • 76' Milijas replaces Edwards as Wolves look for some inspiration in the final quarter hour...
    • 75' Sidwell! No! He strikes it goalwards but Dunne gets in the way! That was a certain goal with Hennessey in no man's land having flapped at a cross!
    • 75' Young delivers it but Elokobi is there to head clear!
    • 74' Agbonlahor sends over a cross-shot that Hennessey is forced into tipping over the bar...
    • 72' 'Welcome to the game, Mr Heskey' says Craddock, who piles into the recent arrival and gives away a free-kick.
    • 71' Villa make a change... goal-shy Heskey on for Carew.
    • 71' Young goes shoulder to shoulder with Zubar... but there's only one winner in that battle... Zubar stands firm and it'll be a goal kick.
    • 70' Twenty minutes left and still no breakthrough...
    • 70' Dunne rises to meet the dead ball... but he can't direct his header on target...
    • 69' Doyle goes in on Cuellar... and the ref judges it to have been a foul... free-kick Villa.
    • 67' Looks like Wolves are going to make a change... Iwelumo is getting his shin pads on...
    • 64' Oooh! This is more like it from Villa! Agbonlahor feeds Young, who strikes a crisp effort just wide of the post!
    • 63' Super ball in by Young... Hennessey doesn't really know whether to come or stay on his line... but it doesn't matter in the end as Agbonlahor can't get there.
    • 61' Another card now, this time for Zubar for a late challenge.
    • 60' Warnock is booked... that's for a bit to much abuse directed at the linesman as he 'disputed' a corner.
    • 57' The ball falls to Castillo on the edge of the area! But he miskicks completley and the chance goes begging!
    • 56' Edwards cleverly plays the ball off Warnock and Wolves have a corner!
    • 55' Castillo tries to feed Doyle... just cut out in time!
    • 54' Here's the first yellow card of the day... it's shown to Carew for a sliding challenge on Elokobi.
    • 49' Young breaks for Villa now after Petrov wins possession in the middle of the park... the winger cuts inside but his eventual shot is woeful and goes high and wide of Hennessey's goal frame.
    • 47' Sidwell! Ooh! Another half-chance! And again it's not taken! His free header is weak and poor.
    • 46' Back underway at Molineux! And the pitch is bathed in bright sunshine!
    • 45'+3 There goes the half-time whistle! And the teams head in at the break locked at 0-0.
    • 45' Two minutes of added time to be played at the end of the first half...
    • 44' Young and Warnock link up well to create a crossing chance for the full-back... but Hennessey claims again.
    • 43' Ebanks-Blake has a free header at the back stick! But he doesn't really get much on it and his effort bounces wide of the mark! Poor defending from the visitors...
    • 39' Milner then causes trouble at the other end with a ball into the mixer... Agbonlahor is there or thereabouts, but Wolves clear in the end!
    • 38' There is danger! Berra rises to direct a header down across the face of goal... Ebanks-Blake attempts a spectacular overhead kick, but it won't sit down for him and his effort goes over the bar!
    • 38' Edwards wins a corner off Dunne... could be danger here...
    • 37' Henry's having a great game... he takes the ball off Carew with a great sliding challenge and Wolves win back possession!
    • 36' Great interception at the other end from Castillio as Cuellar looks to feed it through for Carew.
    • 35' OFF THE LINE! Milner hacks clear from Doyle's effort! It isn't the best header... in fact, it looks like it hits his shoulder, rather than his forehead, and in the end it's an easy clearance to make.
    • 33' Ebanks-Blake cuts inside and lets fly! But he slips on the greasy turf as he shoots and the ball spins away to safety.
    • 32' Sidwell loses out to Doyle in midfield and Wolves can break... but Dunne holds firm this time and the move breaks down.
    • 30' Hennessey flaps a little on the corner! But it's too high for everyone... the Wolves keeper sustains a cut to his eye though and will need a little patching up before he can continue.
    • 29' Villa come again soon enough and win another corner... the ref wants a word with Elokobi and Carew before it's taken...they're jostling for position on the goal line...
    • 28' Sidwell intercepts Castillo's attempted clearance... it falls to Milner, who looks for Sidwell, who has continued his run into the box! But it doesn't reach him and Wolves can come away with it.
    • 26' Great noise from the stands still... they're not letting the weather dampen their spirits...
    • 24' Collins crunches into Ebanks-Blake with a tremendous challenge! That's a real derby tackle! Hard but fair.
    • 23' Milner feeds Carew in the box, with the Norwegian's back to goal... he goes down under a challenge from Berra... but the ref's having none of it.
    • 22' This is some good build up from Wolves now... Kightly, Doyle and Castillo are all involved... but it comes to nothing in the end.
    • 21' That's poor from Warnock though... all the way through without finding a Villa head.
    • 20' Villa break and win a corner as Berra heads behind...
    • 19' Castillo! Ooh! He takes advantage of a slip by his marker to let off a shot! Great block by Collins!
    • 18' Henry again breaks up a Villa attack, this time with an excellent sliding tackle to deny Sidwell a chance close in!
    • 17' Sidwell lashes an effort over the bar from 25 yards out as Milner takes a knock... he'll be okay though...
    • 16' But the delivery from Kightly is poor and Friedel is able to claim without any fuss.
    • 15' Warnock gives Edwards a nudge in the back and Wolves have a free-kick, near the corner flag on the right hand side...
    • 13' Henry now delivers a decent ball into the Villa box... Berra's there to meet it! But his header goes wide of the far post! Chance none the less...
    • 12' Henry gets a deserved round of applause for some typically dogged tackling in the centre of the park...
    • 11' Cuellar gets forward now and delivers a ball into the box... but it's slightly overhit and the ball sails all the way through.
    • 10' The rain is teeming down at the moment... that'll make for a nice, slippy surface.
    • 8' Kightly wins a corner for Wolves now... Friedel gets up well to claim it though.
    • 7' Ebanks-Blake skips past Collins and he has a chance to play it in for Doyle! But the ball gets stuck in his feet and the opportunity goes begging!
    • 5' And the crowd is responding to the eventful opening... great atmosphere at Molineux.
    • 4' Cracking start to the game! Chances at both ends... and some pretty poor defending too.
    • 3' Chance at the other end as Doyle muscles through! Big penlaty shout as Dunne grapples with the Wolves striker! Credit to him, he tries to stay on his feet but he wants a penalty in the end! Referee Peter Walton waves play on!
    • 2' Wolves will have to sort out their defending if they are not to be embarrassed today... that was shocking.
    • 1' Agbonlahor breaks through early on! Friedel pumps a long ball forward... no one deals with it and if goes all the way through for the Villa striker! But his effort on target is tame and Hennessey is able to make hte save!
    • 1' Here we go! Underway at Molineux!
    • - Villa boss Martin O'Neill sticks with the side which drew with Everton last weekend.
    • - So, Wolves make one change, with Segundo Castillo was restored to the starting line-up in place of Greg Halford.
    • - Today's referee is Peter Walton (Northamptonshire).
    • - Aston Villa: Friedel, Cuellar, Collins, Dunne, Warnock, Milner, Petrov, Sidwell, Ashley Young, Carew, Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Luke Young, Delph, Heskey, Reo-Coker, Gardner, Clark
    • - Wolverhampton: Hennessey, Zubar, Craddock, Berra, Elokobi, Edwards, Henry, Castillo, Kightly, Ebanks-Blake, Doyle. Subs: Hahnemann, Stearman, Keogh, Halford, Jarvis, Iwelumo, Milijas
    • - This is also O'Neill's best ever record after eight matches as a Premier League manager - bettering his 15 points from eight Premier League matches as Leicester City manager in 1997-98.
    • - Villa have picked up 16 points from their opening eight Premier League matches this season. This is their best ever points total at this stage of a season under Martin O'Neill and best in ten years since 16 points from eight matches in 1999-00 under manager John Gregory.
    • - And Mick McCarthy's side head into the game without a win in their last three games. Their only win in their last seven was 2-1 against Fulham on September 20.
    • - Wolves have not won in all four previous PL matches against Birmingham opposition - losing twice to Aston Villa and drawing twice with Birmingham City during the 2003-04 season.
    • - These two sides have met 98 times in the league. Wolverhampton Wanderers have won 33, Aston Villa 43 and there have been 22 draws.
    • - Villa can take advantage of the early kick-off to jump into fourth place with victory while Wolves can put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone with a win.
    • - Aston Villa make the short trip to Molineux to face Wolves in the early Premier League kick-off.

  4. This will be a bit controversial on here, but here goes. Why is Ashley Young still being picked in the first team for Villa? He is not providing good balls for Gabby or Carew, or anyone else. He's lost his touch and is not what he was last year.
Maybe a dropping might remind him of what he's in the team for.

  10. I don’t agree with the criticism of Sidwell’s tackle. If you look very closely he was very, very unlucky because he actually got a touch on the ball before the penalty. Also if you are all to quick for asking of his head, then you should also ask for Gabby’s head too. As in my opinion, he missed a sitter in the first attack of the game.

From Bmedia, on Sat 24 Oct 2:45PM
  20. really disappointing result for villa. if they are to challenge for top 6 they need to learn how to beat teams like wolves, no point beating chelsea one week only to throw it away the next. As a villa fan i fear they will not finish in top 6 because they will drop to many points against bottom half of the table teams.
