    • 90+5' Full-time at the Emirates, and Blackpool have been handed a lesson. It finishes 6-0. Welcome to the Premier League.
    • 90+4' Wilshere tries a shot from long range - this one is blocked.
    • 90+2' WILSHERE!! Races on to a through ball, tries an overly delicate finish and succeeds only in stubbing his toe!
    • 90+1' Corner played to Fabregas at the edge of the box... he volleys goalwards but it is deflected over!
    • 90' Four minutes of added time to play.
    • 89' Arsenal play the corner short to Clichy, who tries a spectacular effort... it flies high over the bar.
    • 88' Slid in from the right by Baptiste and Ormerod tries to force it goalwards... the ball flies over.
    • 86' Another Van Persie corner from the Arsenal right... this time it is defended better.
    • 84' Great skill by Vela to beat his man, but the shot ends up in the crowd.
    • 83' GOAL!!! Chamakh has his goal!!! He heads down from the corner, Adam and Gilks both hesitate and the ball bounces into the roof of the net.
    • 83' Vela runs from left to rigth across goal and shoots... deflected for a corner.
    • 82' Adam's corner is wasteful, and curls straight out of play for a goal-kick.
    • 81' Adam delivers a free-kick into the Arsenal box... headed over his own bar by Sagna.
    • 79' Another poor pass by Chamakh, trying to find Sagna running down the line. He does look out of sorts...
    • 78' Rosicky plays it to Vela inside the box, and he inexplicably tries another pass instead of shooting. Arsenal officially trying to walk it in.
    • 77' Fabregas lofts a cross for Van Persie, who attempts an extravagant volley but does not make proper contact. The injury at least seems to have subsided.
    • 76' Van Persie retakes the field, but he is not moving well. Let's hope he shakes it off.
    • 75' Alarm bells for Arsenal - Van Persie is down and feeling his left leg. Let's hope this isn't serious...
    • 74' Controversy at Goodison - find out what's going on there... Everton v Wolves
    • 73' Over-elaborate from Van Persie, who turns beautifully to beat his man, but plays a silly ball to the feet of a defender instead of shooting.
    • 71' There are good games breaking out all over the place in the Premier League. Latest scores and scorers
    • 70' Van Persie lobs a cross with the outside of his left foot... cannot quite find Fabregas.
    • 69' Adam jinks away from a couple of challenges but the ball is soon back with Arsenal. And they are so assured in possession it is quite a job taking the ball off them.
    • 67' The pace has gone right out of the game. It seems both sides would settle for 5-0 at this point.
    • 66' Standing ovation for hat-trick hero Theo Walcott, who makes way for Carlos Vela.
    • 64' The introduction of Fabregas and Van Persie just seems cruel, although it has lent this game the air of an exhibition game.
    • 62' Arsene Wenger reacts to that miss by bringing on Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie. A nice luxury... Diaby and Arshavin come off.
    • 61' OH THAT'S AWFUL BY CHAMAKH!! Arshavin plays a perfect cross from the left and Chamakh misses a staggering open goal from a couple of yards! Atrocious!
    • 60' Ironic 'Ole's greet every successful pass from Blackpool. Which is about three.
    • 58' GOAL!!! HAT-TRICK FOR WALCOTT!! So easy!! He collects a Diaby through-ball, makes a diagonal run and finishes low into the left corner!
    • 57' Blackpool: Brett Ormerod and Ishmel Demontagnac for Marlon Harewood and Gary Taylor-Fletcher. Why not?
    • 57' Arsenal have six players forward, and Wilshere manages to play a pass to the only area where there are no red shirts.
    • 56' Blackpool just cannot keep hold of the ball and are withstanding wave after wave of attacks from the home team.
    • 55' Want to see a picture of Marouane Chamakh getting hacked by Alex Baptiste? Here you go
    • 54' Rosicky feeds Diaby, who drags a shot wide from the right side of the box. So many options for Arsenal in the attacking third.
    • 52' Harewood crosses for Taylor Fletcher who controls and shoots - blocked by Song.
    • 50' Ian Holloway has a resigned look on his face. Possibly not the first time we'll see the words 'Holloway' and 'resigned' in close proximity.
    • 49' GOAL!!! Sagna races down the right, pulls it back to the penalty spot and Abou Diaby sweeps the ball home! 4-0!
    • 48' Cesc Fabregas is warming up on the touchline. Not sure Arsenal will be needing his services this afternoon.
    • 47' Walcott's on it already, sprinting towards the right edge of the box... Keinan dispossesses him.
    • 46' Blackpool kick the second half off. I'm surprised Ian Holloway didn't send them back out with WWI-style tin hats. Cannon fodder.
    • 45+3' Three-nil at the break, and Arsenal are in complete control. They have blitzed Blackpool, who are down to 10 and just hanging on.
    • 45+2' Arsene Wenger is looking very relaxed, and well he might. It's totally one-sided.
    • 45+1' Two minutes of added time to be played.
    • 45' Here come Arsenal on the counter-attack with men over... but for once Walcott sends a pass astray. That could and probably should have been four.
    • 44' Ironic cheers go up from the visiting fans as Blackpool win a corner.
    • 43' Clichy crosses from the left for Chamakh, who prods the ball goalwards forcing a good save from Gilks.
    • 42' Walcott has another crack, and Gilks makes a decent diving save.
    • 41' Arshavin chases a through ball but Gilks races out and just beats him to it.
    • 40' This is quite uncomfortable viewing. Blackpool can no longer get out of their own half, and have a VERY long 50 minutes ahead of them.
    • 39' GOAL!!! WALCOTT MAKES IT THREE!!! That was like Didier Drogba at his best! He recieves Wilshere's ball with his back to goal, turns and fires a low shot past Gilks!
    • 38' CHAMAKH!! Receives a through ball from the electric Walcott and fires straight at Gilks from close range. Walcott is having a belting game...
    • 37' Blackpool: Debut for defender Dekal Keinan, replacing another debutant Ludovic Sylvestre. They had to, really...
    • 36' Vaughan attempts an extravagant crossfield pass that Walcott nearly intercepts and runs clean through...
    • 35' Arshavin slips a delightful through ball to Diaby, but the Frenchman strays offside.
    • 33' Well, that is a big talking point. Under the rules of the game, that was a red card for Evatt, however harsh it seems. But it was never a penalty, and it really could be floodgates time...
    • 32' GOAL!!! Andrei Arshavin converts the penalty, side-footing into the bottom right corner!
    • 31' And it's a penalty even though the initial contact was outside the box!
    • 30' RED CARD IAN EVATT!! He is sent off for fouling Chamakh when clean through!
    • 29' WALCOTT!!! Blazes over from the edge of the box with Chamakh and Arshavin screaming for it inside him!
    • 27' The crowd is just a little subdued. That Taylor-Fletcher chance aside, it has been pretty easy going for Arsenal so far.
    • 26' Diaby strides foprward majestically before second guessing himself and turning in circles. Really frustrating play, and something the midfielder does a lot.
    • 25' The only other goals of the day have come at the Britannia, where both have been scored in slightly odd style... Stoke v Tottenham
    • 24' Brilliant through ball from Walcott to Chamakh, who drags his shot wide of the left post when played clean through - a poor miss.
    • 22' GREAT SAVE GILKS!! Walcott clips a cross from the right for Arshavin, whose powerful shot on the slide is palmed away!
    • 21' Blackpool look to play the ball out from the back, which is good to watch but not necessarily the wisest move.
    • 19' Greedy from Rosicky, who twists and turns at the edge of the box before taking on a shot and firing over.
    • 18' Arshavin appears to knock the ball out off Baptiste but referee Mike Jones says goal kick. Not sure about that one...
    • 17' On closer inspection, Song's barnet is not an afro - it's very perky dreads.
    • 16' Baptiste with a late, clumsy challenge on Chamakh... a free-kick, which Walcott puts over.
    • 15' What a chance for Gary Taylor-Fletcher!! Crainey crosses from the left and the forward rises high above Clichy at the back post but heads wide!
    • 14' Bacary Sagna is clutching his right shoulder, and goes off for treatment...
    • 13' Ian Holloway looks more peeved than ever. He mentioned the possibility of losing 8-0 here and if Arsenal keep putting together moves like that, well...
    • 12' GOAL!!! Pure Arsenal!! A magnificent passing move from left to right involving Chamakh, Arshavin (twice), Rosicky and Theo Walcott, who sidefoots into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box. Brilliant.
    • 12' Blackpool free-kick 35 yards out... Adam delivers to the back post, but floats the ball out of play.
    • 10' Harewood pick it up in the left channel, cuts back and works it to David Vaughan who shoots straight at Almunia!
    • 9' Wilshere sticks his foot in to win the ball in midfield. The ref lets that one go but there's a touch of Scholes about the way Wilshere tackles.
    • 8' Given away to Chamakh in the Blackpool box, he tries to set up Rosicky... but it's a very poor pass from the Moroccan.
    • 7' Anyone who uses the words '38 cup ties' needs shooting in the ears, but Blackpool are certainly battling like their very lives depend on it.
    • 6' Blackpool have set their stall out to close down, apply pressure and dare Arsenal to pass the ball around them. Which they probably will.
    • 4' Alex Song is in as an emergency centre-back with Laurent Koscielny suspended. The Cameroonian is rocking a sizeable afro.
    • 3' Early touch for Jack Wilshere, who finds Bacary Sagna on the right before receiving a return pass and giving the ball away.
    • 2' Arsenal seeing plenty of the ball as you'd expect, until Alex Baptiste robs Tomas Rosicky and tries to start an attack the other way.
    • 1' We're under way at the Emirates! Arsenal kick off, playing from left to right. And it's actually not that easy to tell the teams apart at a glance...
    • 14:59 Blackpool are wearing an away strip of white shirts and orange shorts. Arsenal in red and white. And there's the first shot of that oddly famous Blackpool kid in the crowd...
    • 14:58 The teams are out at the Emirates! A good turnout, and something like 3,000 Blackpool fans in the away end - a little orange enclave in North London.
    • 14:55 Arsene Wenger has admitted speculation over Manuel Almunia's future might be affecting performances. That and being rubbish... Wenger reveals Almunia concern
    • 14:50 So no start for either Cesc Fabregas or Robin van Persie, but both can be summoned off the bench if necessary. Blackpool's only change is the selection of debutant Ludovic Sylvestre in place of Brett Ormerod.
    • 14:45 Ian Holloway has been in exceptionally downbeat form this week for a man whose team are second in the league. Grim outlook for Holloway
    • 14:45 Bournemouth confirmed yesterday striker Brett Pitman has failed to agree terms over a move to Blackpool. A club statement said: "Brett travelled to the North West to discuss personal terms but failed to agree a deal." Pitman rejects Blackpool
    • 14:40 Arsenal and Blackpool have met 72 times in the league. Arsenal have won 38, Blackpool 13 and there have been 21 draws.
    • 14:40 It is 13 years since a promoted team won their first Premier League match of the season and went on to be relegated – both Bolton Wanderers and Crystal Palace in 1997.

On the same weekend Blackpool drew 1-1 at Cardiff City in the bottom division of English league football - current Blackpool striker Brett Ormerod played for the Tangerines in this match.
    • 14:30 BLACKPOOL: Gilks, Baptiste, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Sylvestre, Vaughan, Adam, Grandin, Harewood, Taylor-Fletcher... Subs: Halstead, Eardley, Ormerod, Basham, Edwards, Demontagnac, Keinan... Referee: Michael Jones (Cheshire)

  10. Walcot has done the team proud. This time around, don't let the trophy slip like last season. Its a warning call to all teams visiting Emirates to prepare for baptism.Keep the fire in you alive!

  11. Dont be ignorant, 10-men or not arsenal still would have won. Blackpool possessed no attacking threat even with 11..

From Luke, on Mon 23 Aug 6:46
  12. this walcott is so selfish ,he had several occasions to give the ball to CHAMAKH and he never did !
he prefer kill birds by sending a impossible occasion in the sky!
he's to selfish and the only ball he gave him where impossible to play!
hopefully on 10 shots he score 3 times (at least!).
he's got to improve his collective side deeply!

  14. What I witnessed at the magnificent Emirates Stadium was a worthy championship side playing one of Europe's best teams! Not a lot 'Pool could do about it . Blackpool went through their well-rehearsed routine. It could have been Blackpool at QPR at the beginning of last season.
But you don't carve out a draw so easily against the likes of Arsenal with their youthful, mobile, skilful, accurate and very very 'quick' movers! It's not just Walcott (who could probably run in the Olympics and not come last.)
Arsenal, if they keep this squad together, look good for a number of years.
The future?.................. Blackpool must plan long-term and use their new-found money wisely to shake off their 'lower league' structure. I expect that's how Burnley and Hull might be thinking too.
It might be time for a small group of Prem teams to be promoted to a new 'Euro-League.' Get your Eurostar season tickets, Arsenal fans, you'll be one of them!
As for me, I will be behind my team every week. MK Dons, Tuesday; Fulham, Saturday. I wonder if the new, East Stand, seats will have foam, like Arsenal's?
     Blackpool Forever!

  18. i watched the match and i think both played nice football. I have high hopes for blackpool, and sincerely hope they stay up. But talking about arsenal, its good they won this game.. but I wander how they hal survive against Man U, Chelski and the likes? at least, last season they choked in the big games.. and chamakh didnt really impress me today. Also, almunia did ok, but then again, he didnt have much he could fail on today. But i like Arsenal and hope they break this ManU, Chelski monopoly this season.. would be refreshing for the prem leauge
