    • 90+2 It's all over! What a day to be a Blackpool fan, they have thrashed Wigan 4-0!
    • 88' Will Kirkland still be between the sticks next week? They have Ali Al Habsi on loan from Bolton on the bench today.
    • 87' The Blackpool fans are in good voice - and so they should be.
    • 85' Kirkland makes a point blank save from Jason Euell as the Blackpool sub found himself unmarked from a corner. The rebound falls to Euell, but he can only put the ball over the bar.
    • 80' Blackpool are keeping possession well. They are seeing out the clock here.
    • 79' In all the excitement, I forgot to tell you about a sub. Blackpool have replaced Taylor-Fletcher with Jason Euell.
    • 78' The Wigan fans are leaving in their droves. I think there will be more visiting fans left at the final whistle.
    • 75' It has been a nightmare afternoon for Kirkland and it just gets worse. Baptiste attempts to swing the ball in toward the penalty spot, but he mis-kicks it and sends it flying toward Kirkland's near post. He gets a hand to it but can only push it into the net. Awful.
    • 75' Gooaallll! 4-0, Baptiste has got it!
    • 74' From our friends at Opta: Gary Taylor-Fletcher has become the 11th double-barrel named player to score in the Premier League.
    • 73' Commentator's nightmare - James McCarthy and James McArthur are on the same pitch, on the same team.
    • 72' Wigan sub: Victor Moses has picked up an injury - looks like the groin - and he has been replaced by James McArthur.
    • 71' Marlon Harewood is sitting on the bench with an ice pack on his ankle. Blackpool fans will be praying that their new hero isn't too badly injured.
    • 68' Boselli with a header again, but this one is easily gathered by the keeper. Last season's Copa Libertadores top scorer has looked good in the air today.
    • 67' Blackpool are caught napping on the corner as it is taken short. The ball is swung in and the Argentine Boselli rises highest to flick a header onto the bar!
    • 66' Rodallega side foots an effort at goal and forces Gilks into a smart save to tip the ball over the bar.
    • 62' Stam has been getting forward a lot, but his cross towards his team mates this time is straight to Gilks.
    • 61' Match image. Blackpool celebrate a brilliant first half.
    • 60' Blackpool sub: A sublime debut from Malon Harewood comes to an end - he is replaced by Chris Basham.
    • 58' Blackpool's first sub: Ludovic Sylvestre has replaced Brett Ormerod.
    • 56' Adam drives a cross toward Harewood, but Alcaraz sends it out for a throw in. Or at least it should have been a throw in. Despite the ball going out at least six yards from the goal line - a corner was given. Bizarre.
    • 54' Rodallega hits a frustrated effort right footed at goal and straight down the throat of Gilks.
    • 53' Stam hangs a ball in toward Boselli who nods the ball down inside the box only to find that there are no team mates to finish the move off.
    • 52' From our friends at infostrada: Blackpool become the 2nd team in the Premier League to be at least 3 goals up at Wigan at halftime . Liverpool led 4-0 at the break in 2006.
    • 50' Ronnie Stam threads a ball toward Rodallega, but Craig Cathcart is there to snuff out the danger.
    • 48' That was a poor decision; Gohouri was level with the defensive line as Ben Watson's free kick was knocked in.
    • 47' Goal for Wigan! But no, the referee's assistant's flag is raised to chalk off Gohouri's header!
    • 47' Unsurprisingly, Roberto Martinez has made a couple of changes at the break. Ronnie Stam has replaced Emerson Boyce ,while Hendry has repalced Mohamed Diame.
    • 46' Blackpool get the 2nd half underway.
    • 16:03 The players are back out on the pitch.
    • 45+2 Referee Halsey brings the first half to a close. Blackpool are in dream land!
    • 45+2 Alex Baptiste should have made it four! What a break from Wigan. Ormerod knocks the ball to the back post to Grandin who nods the ball into the path of Baptiste who cannot quite prod the ball into the back of the net.
    • 44' Blackpool are top of the league!
    • 42' What a move from Blackpool! A cross field ball is played to Harewood who jumps up and nods it in field to Ormerod with his back to goal. He lays it off to Elliot Grandin who rolls his right foot over the ball and drives a low left footed drive in on goal which Kirkland does well to save - but the rebound falls straight to Harewood and he slots into the empty net via Kirkland!
    • 42' Gooaalll!! 3-0, Harewood grabs his second!
    • 39' Harewood drives the ball in toward Ormerod inside the six yard box, but the veteran striker cannot shake off the attention of Alcaraz.
    • 38' Fantastic play from Harewood! The ball is played into him with his back to goal. He holds off Alcaraz's attention, turns and launches a low, dipping drive across the goal and into the back of the net. The ball moved at the last second and Kirkland could only get his fingertips to it.
    • 38' Gooaaallll! Harewood makes it 2-0.
    • 34' Lovely one touch play on the edge of the Blackpool box puts in Fugueroa who tries to pull the ball back to the awaiting Rodallega, but a crucial interception sees the ball knocked clear. Best piece of play from Wigan so far.
    • 33' Blackpool immediately go on the attack through Taylor-Fletcher. Who, after waiting for team mates, crosses high and into the hands of Kirkland.
    • 32' Rodallega shoots the free kick low at goal, but straight into the wall.
    • 31' Baptiste pulls down Rodallega as the ball is played in long toward the Wigan forward. That was only half a yard away from being a penalty. As it is, Wigan will have a free kick in a dangerous position.
    • 30' Moses shoots wildly wide. That shot smacked of frustration.
    • 29' Fantastic play from Blackpool. They look as though they are going to score on every attack.
    • 27' So, so close to 2-0. Harewood is put in one on one and is tackled just as he is about to pull the trigger. The ball rebounds off of Kirkland and into the path of Ormerod who taps the ball toward goal, but the ball deflects off of the helpless Harewood!
    • 25' Moses is causing a lot of problems and he moves in to the penalty area as he dribbles away from two defenders who are pulling him back. Referee Halsey calls play back much to the anger of the Moses and the home fans.
    • 23' The ball is cleared easily from the free kick.
    • 22' Ian Evatt takes down Moses on the edge of the box and that earns him a booking and will give his team a difficult free kick to defend.
    • 20' Though the goal was chalked off, it must be said that it was a brilliant move from Blackpool to create the chance. They are playing some brilliant football.
    • 19' Taylor-Fletcher is furious with the officials and he has every right to be.
    • 18' The ball is in the back of the net and it is Taylor-Fletcher again! But it is ruled out for offside! However, he was FOUR YARDS ONSIDE - Ormerod was standing offside in the middle but was not interfering with play. Terrible decision.
    • 17' Superb start from Blackpool and they are very good value for their lead.
    • 15' Marlon Harewood fizzes in a beautiful ball into the corridor of uncertainty and arriving late at the back post is Taylor-Fletcher who knocks the ball into the empty net!
    • 15' Gooaaallll! One nil to Blackpool! Gary Taylor-Fletcher puts the visitors one up!
    • 15' Beautiful weather in Wigan today. Chris Kirkland is wearing his cap. He always seems to have that cap on.
    • 12' First booking of the new season goes to Steve Gohouri who trips Gary Taylor-Fletcher as he charges through the midfield.
    • 11' Blackpool talisman Charlie Adam swings in a free kick toward Antolin Alcaraz which is very close to finding the target.
    • 8' A low corner is met left-footed by Moses and Gilks saves well down low.
    • 7' Blackpool have sold out their end of the ground - Wigan have of course not sold out the rest of the stadium.
    • 4' Nice build up play from Wigan sees the ball arrive at the feet of Victor Moses who snaps a low shot at goal which is easily saved by Matt Gilks.
    • 3' The ball is pinged in from wide and immediately pinged across the face of goal toward Brett Ormerod who misses the ball six yards out! The ball is played in again and Ormerod has an even easier chance which he again completely misses! Wigan defend desperately to just about get the ball behind for a corner. And from that corner Marlon Harewood heads narrowly over the bar. Cracking start from Blackpool!
    • 2' Wigan are wearing blue and white shirts, blue shorts and white socks. Blackpool are wearing tangerine shirts, white shorts and white socks.
    • 1' Wigan kick off. We are underway!
    • 14:57 The teams are out on the pitch. A new season of Premier League football at the DW Stadium is just a few minutes away.
    • 14:55 A special mention to today's referee Mark Halsey who has been out of football for a year due a battle with throat cancer. Welcome back Mark!
    • 14:50 Ian Holloway had a busy day on Wednesday as he signed five new players. Three of those players make their debut today. Marlon Harewood starts up front, Craig Cathcart will slot in at centre nack and Elliot Grandin will play on the wing.
    • 14:45 So four of Wigan's new signings start today. Antolin Alcaraz and Steve Gohouri form a new centre back partnership; James McCarthy slots in to the midfield and Mauro Boselli starts up top.
    • 14:40 Blackpool: Gilks, Baptiste, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Taylor-Fletcher, Adam, Vaughan, Grandin, Ormerod, Harewood /// Subs: Rachubka, Eardley, Basham, Euell, Sylvestre, Edwards, Demontagnac
    • 14:40 The team news is in! Wigan: Kirkland, Boyce, Alcaraz, Gohouri, Figueroa, McCarthy, Diame, Moses, Watson, Rodallega, Boselli /// Subs: Al Habsi, Thomas, Gomez, McArthur, Scotland, Stam, Golobart
    • 14:35 Here is a stat which Wigan will be desperate to change: The Latics conceded 79 PL goals last season – only relegated Burnley (82) conceded more in the division in 2009-10. This was also the most goals ever conceded by a PL club within the season without getting relegated.
    • 14:30 Wigan have lost 2-1 in their three of their last four opening weekend matches. But these silly stats don't mean anything do they?
    • 14:25 Blackpool are of course managed by Ian Holloway and I highly recommend having a listen to any interview involving him. He is as daft as a brush.
    • 14:20 This match was supposed to be a home opener for Blackpool, however, due to work taking place on the east stand and a temporary cash flow problem for the club, the match has been switched to the DW Stadium.
    • 14:15 These sides met in the League Cup second round last season – Blackpool winning 4-1 at home in August 2009.
    • 14:12 Welcome to a new season of Premier League football at the DW Stadium. Today visiting Wigan Athletic are Premier League new boys Blackpool.
