    • Wigan Athletic
    • Sunderland
    • 90+5' And that's it! Full time here at the DW. It's finished 1-1. Wigan will be happy to have come from behind, but they surely should have done better against 10 men.
    • 90+5' Diame is shown a yellow after falling over and trying to handle the ball.
    • 90+3' N'zogbia dribbles his way into the box! Beats one man then tries to shoot! But puts it into the side netting.
    • 90' Di Santo tries an effort from 20-yards but puts it miles over. Five minutes of added time have been signalled.
    • 88' Wigan are pouring forward looking for the winner here.
    • 86' Wigan win another free kick. This time Mignolet punches clear, but it only goes as far as Cleverley who shoots first time! Alcaraz gets a head to it and it's in!! 1-1 Wigan equalise! Mignolet perhaps should do better and he only succeeds in pushing the ball into the top corner with his save!
    • 84' Mignolet gets down well to save a shot which bounced just in front of him.
    • 83' N'Zogbia runs at the Sunderland defence but is body checked by Bramble. Wigan free kick from 25-yards.
    • 82' Bent beats Alcaraz in the air, and sets himself up, but he volleys miles over from 25-yards.
    • 79' Sunderland sub: Richardson is replaced by John Mensah
    • 76' It's gotten scrappy again. Both sides are flying into the tackles.
    • 74' Wigan sub: And Martinez hauls off Boselli and replaces him with Tom Cleverley.
    • 72' Lovely work from Di Santo down the left for Wigan, he floats a teasing cross across the face of the goal and Boselli is there at the far post! But he nods the ball wide! He really, really should have scored there! Unbelievable miss!
    • 71' The corner is again taken well by Mignolet.
    • 70' Better from Wigan. N'Zogbia combines well with Boyce down the right and they win a corner.
    • 68' Wigan are slow to get back into this, they look shell shocked.
    • 66' Oh my word! Sunderland have barely looked in it this half, and I was beginning to think bringing Gyan on had been a mistake, but what do I know?
    • 66' Brilliant from Henderson down the right! He dribbles past Figueroa with ease, then looks up and plays in a wonderful cross which Gyan throws himself at and volleys the ball into the back of the net! 1-0 to Sunderland! Completely against the run of play!
    • 63' Rodallega wins a corner from Richardson, who goes down to receive treatment. When he's back on his feet, N'Zogbia whips the ball in, and Mignolet misses the ball! He's a lucky boy though as the ref blows for a foul! That's his first mistake, otherwise he's looked very impressive.
    • 60' Richardson brings down N'Zogbia. The Wigan winger then whips a cross in but Mignolet again does well to claim the ball.
    • 59' Alcaraz wins the ball in the Wigan half and plays it to Boselli. A lovely turn gives him a sight of goal but he lashes high and wide from 20-yards.
    • 56' Wigan sub: Di Santo replaces Thomas.
    • 56' Rodallega, tricks his way past Onuoha and gets into the penalty area, he stumbles under one challenge, but manages to stay on his feet and lay it back to Diame, he feints a shot and slips past Henderson before stabbing the ball through to Boselli! Mignolet comes out and manages to get a hand on the ball, and Boselli stays on his feet! The ball eventually finds its way to the left hand side, and Figueroa shanks a cross out for a goal kick!
    • 53' Wigan sub: Ronnie Stam is replaced by Charles N'Zogbia.
    • 51' Sunderland win a free kick on the right but Malbranque's cross beats everyone. Throw in. They really need to make these set pieces count.
    • 51' It's all Wigan in this second half. Was bringing Gyan on a mistake? Their midfield has now been weakened to strengthen their attack and they're being cut to shreds.
    • 48' And Wigan finally cut Sunderland's defence apart! A quick interchange of passes creates space for Rodallega to run into and Thomas' perfectly weighted pass finds him! He shoots right footed and, it's in! No, wait, it's not! The few Wigan fans celebrated as if it was in, but it had rolled narrowly wide and hit the stanchion holding up the net at the back before rolling along the back of the net. Rodallega should really have put that away.
    • 46' And Wigan have a shot on target! Rodallega brings the ball down, in the process flicking it up into his own face, before lashing an effort with his left foot from 20-yards. Mignolet, at full stretch, dives to his left and catches the ball cleanly. Good play all round.
    • 45' And we're back underway, can Gyan make a big impact on his Premiership debut? He's definitely got the attributes, he's big, strong and decent in the air.
    • - Sunderland sub: Danny Welbeck is replaced by new signing Asamoah Gyan
    • - The most telling statistic though, is that there have been 17 fouls so far. Four players are currently on a yellow card, and if it continues the same way, I would be very surprised if there weren't more dismals before the end of the match.
    • - There's been just the one shot on target so far, from Sunderland, and even then it was not really worthy of the name as it just trickled through to Al Habsi. Wigan have had 7 efforts on goal, with not a single one of them on target.
    • 45+3' And that's half time! The scores here are still level, but Sunderland have been reduced to 10-men following Cattermole's second red card of the season.
    • 45+2' McCarthy does well down the right and beats Richardson before trying to whip a cross in with the outside of his right foot. It's cleared though.
    • 45+1' Another rare Sunderland attack, again down the right. The cross is not good enough though, and Al Habsi can collect under no pressure.
    • 45' Wigan are dominating proceedings now, but cannot make it count in the final third. Thomas crossed from the right and it's overhit, and goes out for a throw in.
    • 44' It has been all Wigan for the last 15 minutes, but now Sunderland break. Riveros wins the ball on the halfway line and continues unchallenged down the right as he waits for support. Bent and Welbeck charge into the box but Riveros can't find either of them with the cross and it's cleared.
    • 42' Welbeck fouls Stam and is booked. Wigan take the free-kick short but when they do eventually cross the ball, it is cleared.
    • 40' Mignolet, who has looked prettty impressive, collects the corner well.
    • 39' Appeals for a penalty from Wigan as Boselli goes down in the box under a challenge from Bramble. The defender then puts the ball out for a corner, which the ref signals for. I'm not sure about that one. I've seen them given, but it might have been harsh.
    • 38' It's all Wigan now, and McCarthy is pulling the strings. He plays a one-two with Thomas and then tries to bend on in from outside the area, but puts his shot just over.
    • 36' Diame charges into the box but is well tracked by Malbranque who tackles back. The ball rolls clear and Thomas has a go from 30-yards but booms his shot miles over the bar.
    • 34' Sunderland sub: El Mohammady is replaced by Riveros.
    • 33' Wigan keep the ball well for the first time since Sunderland went down to 10-men and Rodallega tries an effort from outside the box, but it's a tame one and goes wide for a goal kick.
    • 31' El Mohammady is down and requires treatment. I'm not sure what for there as he didn't appear to get touched by a challenge from Figueroa.
    • 29' 10-man Sunderland again press forward and a lovely turn from Malbranque creates space and he whips in a delicious cross which Bent just fails to get on the end of! Malbranque received the ball and just spun past Figueroa, and whipped the ball across the face of goal. Had Bent anticipated that earlier then he could have gotten on the end of that!
    • 28' Gouhouri brings down Bent and Sunderland have a free kick 25-yards out. Richardson lines it up but sends it into the bottom of the Sunderland wall, and the ball is cleared.
    • 27' Boselli is played in behind the defence by McCarthy, but is flagged offside as he goes to shoot. Mignolet came out really well and made a good save in any case.
    • 26' Wigan take a short corner, but when the ball does come into the box Bramble heads clear.
    • 25' Wigan push forward to try and make their advantage count, and Boyce crosses from the right and forces Mignolet to punch it out for a corner.
    • 24' Rodallega takes the free kick, and shoots from wide on the left. Over the bar and into the top of the netting.
    • 21' Cattermole can have no complaints there, that was a stupid challenge to make! He might feel harshly done by for his first yellow card, but his second yellow was completely justified. That's his second red of the season.
    • 20' The tackles are flying in now. Boyce is booked for taking out two Sunderland players with one tackle on the right hand side of the penalty area. From the free kick, Al Habsi claims the ball really well and releases Rodallega down the left! He charges forward, gets to the byline and.... is clattered over by Cattermole! That's a terrible tackle! A second yellow and he's off!
    • 19' Malbranque just fails to knock the ball past Alcaraz just outside the area, and complains to the ref that the Wigan defender had dived in with two feet. Nothing is given though as the ref waves play on.
    • 18' And there's the standard Lee Cattermole yellow card. In truth it was a bit weak as he just ran into Diame, but he had already committed a number of fouls.
    • 16' This has been a fairly scrappy affair so far, with both teams charging about and failing to string many passes together.
    • 14' El Mohammady gets down the right and whips a cross to the far post, which Richardson just manages to get a foot to, but can't force his effort on target. A corner is signalled, not sure that did take a deflection off a Wigan player, but it comes to nothing anyway as Al Habsi collects cleanly.
    • 12' Hendry Thomas receives a yellow card for impeding Bent in the Sunderland half. Poor free kick from Cattermole though.
    • 12' Malbranque bundles/jinks his way through two Wigan players on the right, before playing it back to Cattermole, who for reasons unknown, smashes the ball out for a throw in. No idea what he was trying to do.
    • 9' Lovely play from Rodallega who has started wide left. He cuts inside, and turns Stam inside out, before smashing a shot on his left foot, which Stam, stumbling over as he does, manages to get a touch on and force it wide. Corner to Wigan which is cleared well.
    • 6' From a Wigan clearance, the ball is allowed to travel all the way to Diame on the left hand side, who cuts inside into the area and lashes a shot across the face of the goal! Just wide of the diving Mignolet's right hand post!
    • 5' Good pressure from Sunderland and they've really come out of the blocks fast here pressuring the Wigan defence high up the pitch.
    • 2' Wigan force a throw in wide on the right, but it comes to nothing as a foul is called and Sunderland have a free kick.
    • 1' And we're off!
    • 14:55 Just minutes to go here at the DW. Sunderland have won just once away in 19 league games, but Wigan's home form has been dreadful and there have been 19 goals in their last 4 home matches.
    • 14:50 Sunderland's record new £13 million signing Asamoah Gyan is named on the bench, but it's Danny Welbeck, on loan from Manchester United, who will start up front alongside Darren Bent.
    • 14:50 Charles N'Zogbia fails to make the starting XI and has to make do with a place on the bench alongside new signing Franco Di Santo. Al Habsi continues in goal, with Kirkland returning to the bench.
    • 14:45 SUNDERLAND TEAM - Mignolet, Onuoha, Ferdinand, Bramble, Richardson, Malbranque, Elmohamady, Cattermole, Henderson, Bent, Welbeck Subs: Carson, Bardsley, Mensah, Zenden, Riveros, Colback, Gyan

    • 14:25 Sunderland are not exactly predictable either having lost to West Brom, and beaten Manchester City in their last two league games.
    • 14:20 Wigan have shipped 10 goals in their first two league games at the DW this season, but have also travelled to Spurs and won 1-0.
