    Time:90'
    • Wolverhampton Wanderers
    • Stoke City
    • 90+4' A short free-kick from Wolves ends the game - they have an opening win, the first in their last three Premier league seasons. They lost the other two.
    • 90+3' The home fans jubilant as the clock moves past three minutes and Stoke cannot get the ball in play...
    • 90+1' Three minutes to be added on. Pulis wants more than that...
    • 90' David Jones cuts in from the right and bends a shot just wide of the far post! Great effort - that would have put the game to bed. Wolves still lead 2-1...
    • 89' Wolves doing well to keep the ball well away from their goal.
    • 88' Wolves' last change: Greg Halford on for Keogh - again a sub taken off!
    • 87' No joy again as the home team hold firm. Huth concedes a free-kick.
    • 86' It is cleared but soon enough Delap has a further chance on the other side. They'll allow him time to get there and take it, no doubt about that.
    • 85' Another set-piece from the touchline. If Mick McCarthy told his players to avoid conceding these, that advice has disappeared from his players' heads at present...
    • 84' Delap throw headed away... all Wolves' players back.
    • 83' Time running out for City, who have not won in their last 13 top-flight visits to Wolves - and don't look likely to today. At least they've scored, something they failed to do in their last five here.
    • 82' Take a bow, Marcus Hahnemann. The hard-man keeper is crunched by Tuncay as they go for a loose ball - a result of poor defending by Wolves - but with Henry and co ready to give the Turk a piece of advice, he gets straight up and gives the striker a hug. He was going for the ball.
    • 81' Whipped ball to the near post by Jarvis - well held by Sorensen.
    • 80' Nerves on the pitch too as the rain continues, though not as bad now.
    • 79' There are over 27,000 inside Molineux today. Are they to see Wolves' second win in eight home league matches against Stoke? This result would also see the home side go five home league matches unbeaten - that run is already their longest at Molineux since an eight-match streak in 2003-04.
    • 78' Another booking for Stoke as Whitehead takes out Jarvis from behind.
    • 77' Full-back Elokobi smashes a shot wide of the post.
    • 76' A rugby tackle from Huth on the touchline! He was beaten by Jarvis and resorted to despicable tactics. The home fans are understandably annoyed and it leads to the first yellow card of the afternoon. How has it taken so long, given the hard nature of proceedings?
    • 74' Wolves hit the woodwork! Stephen Ward's volley somehow tipped on to the bar by Sorensen! The ball then strikes Higginbotham on the hand - but the ref does not point to the spot!
    • 72' Wolves change: George Elokobi on for Van Damme, who has enjoyed a decent debut.
    • 71' Jarvis's kick is low and poor. Stoke cannot retain the ball though.
    • 70' Huth with a high foot and Wolves will bend the kick right into the danger area.
    • 69' The home keeper again with safe hands following a corner.
    • 68' Tuncay blazes a volley way over as the rain begins to well and truly hammer down.
    • 67' Stoke's final change: Whelan replaced by Michael Tonge.
    • 66' The sun was out a couple of minutes ago - and it is now well and truly hidden by stormclouds with the rain lashing down as it was earlier!
    • 65' Jarvis gives his defence some respite with a low cross which Robert Huth belts clear before the midfielder bends a shot past the top corner with his left foot this time.
    • 64' Deeper from Etherington and another corner is awarded on the opposite side. Wolves defend it... pressure building on them.
    • 63' A deflected Whelan shot gives the Potters a corner...
    • 62' Delap getting more and more chances to create for Stoke. The latest long throw is headed towards the top corner by Shawcross, caught by Hahnemann.
    • 61' Stoke boss Pulis has warned Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti off Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, according to one paper. Transfer round-up
    • 60' Etherington left a loose pass as Tuncay opts for a backheel... and the left winger loses the ball with a poor pass. Wolves win a free-kick off him.
    • 59' He's still finding his range - this one is longer and Hahnemann claims under little pressure. Stoke beginning to exert some now though.
    • 58' Delap with another chance to sling in a throw.
    • 57' There is a fan from the US who is looking for a team to follow. Why not put the case of your own team to him? Message boards
    • 56' We may have a game on our hands now. The away supporters certainly think so.
    • 55' GOAL FOR STOKE! 2-1 to Wolves now! Delap's hurl wins a corner which Etherington bends in flat - and Faye rises highest to nod in.
    • 54' Etherington on the left seems undecided about who to look for with his cross, and is lucky to have the chance to get past a defender and cross. Throw-in for Delap...
    • 53' Wolves have seen more of the ball in this half too, but are yet to create any further chances.
    • 52' Kenwyne Jones emerges from the tunnel on crutches and sits on that bench too. He is returning to the club where he scored three goals in 13 league matches in 2005.
    • 51' Stoke change: Tuncay on for Sidibe, a sub for a sub! He doesn't seem too annoyed, taking his place on the bench.
    • 51' Stoke drew 2-2 against Wolves at the Britannia Stadium last season after going 2-0 up – the only time they have ever lost a two-goal lead in the Premier League. Can they repay the favour today?
    • 50' Henry has space in abundance on the right and fires a low ball towards the near post, hoofed away.
    • 49' Wolves change: Fletcher cannot run off an ankle knock and is replaced by Andy Keogh.
    • 48' Two early digs from the Wolves, the first from Fletcher whose rising drive from distance is just over.
    • 47' There didn't seem to be goals in the offing today: Wolves picked up only 21 home points last season - only relegated Portsmouth (19) won fewer at home. They also scored only 13 goals at Molineux, fewer than any other club at home. Stoke meanwhile scored 10 away goals in the league last season - the equal-fewest in the division with Pompey.
    • 46' Wolves in old gold get us back underway. Stoke now attacking the goal to our right.
    • - No changes at half-time.
    • 45+4' Wolves deserve their 2-0 lead at the break. Stoke are unbeaten in their last five league matches against their hosts - but have it all to do if they are to extend that run.
    • 45+3' Jarvis with a chest down and volley that is blocked as Stoke hang on to their - er - two-goal deficit as the half draws to a close.
    • 45+2' Matt Jarvis released by a Fletcher backheel near halfway... the striker is on top of his form.
    • 45+1' Fuller threatens to create from inside the box on the right, but Hahnemann claims comfortably.
    • 45' Three minutes to be added on at the end of the first half.
    • 44' Etherington receives the ball from Sidibe but loses the ball as he looks for a cross.
    • 43' Fletcher looking good value for that £7m! He skips past a tackle into the box but is just muscled out. Higginbotham made contact with his legs but he stayed on his feet...
    • 42' The Wolves faithful in good voice. They have that winning-in-the-first-game-of-the-season feeling... and the sun is still out for them.
    • 41' Pulis patrolling the touchline. He will have a team talk to produce if Stoke are to pick themselves up from these blows in the second period.
    • 40' At the other end Fuller leaps to head for goal, but instead of making contact with the ball manages to do so with a Wolves head. He is down and on comes the physio.
    • 39' ANOTHER GOAL FOR WOLVES! 2-0! Berra on the right by-line gets a cross over Sorensen - it loops after a deflection - and Fletcher is on hand at the back stick to bundle it in with his head from half a yard out.
    • 37' WHAT A GOAL FOR WOLVES!!! Brilliant free-kick from David Jones! The kick is just to the right of the centre of the area... Karl Henry taps the ball back, he flicks it up and volleys it in off the bar with his preferred left foot!
    • 35' Dean Whitehead chops Kevin Foley on the edge of the box - just outside. That could have been punished with a card... but Probert keeps them in his pocket.
    • 34' What's happening in the second tier? Championship latest
    • 33' Wolves with two chances to take the lead! Fletcher lays the ball off for Ebanks-Blake on the volley - via a possible hand from Ryan Shawcross - and the latter frontman cannot quite finish with Sorensen diving out to meet him; then Fletcher with some neat footwork to earn space for a shot from 12 yards, blocked well.
    • 32' Fuller has the ball at his feet inside the other penalty area. His ball across is poor and clerared for a throw-in.
    • 31' Christophe Berra and Faye given a talking-to as they tussle before the kick comes in... eventually the second ball in is headed some way wide by Craddock. Craddock is making his 200th league appearance for Wolves.
    • 30' Fletcher has Ebanks-Blake in the box after he pulls out to the left... he cleverly wins a corner.
    • 29' Etherington with a cross from the left which Marcus Hahnemann catches cleanly some way from his goal.
    • 28' A Stoke attack comes to nothing as Fuller makes a mess of controlling the ball.
    • 27' The fans are getting involved verbally as the two sets of players continue their battle in midfield. And the sun has come out!
    • 26' The kick is headed away.
    • 25' Etherington with one of those creative moments to reach the byline and cross towards the penalty spot... headed behind by a defender, and not far wide of the post! Corner.
    • 25' The home team battled successfully against relegation last season. Can they survive again? Wolves team page
    • 24' Pass-and-move football from Wolves, who are thwarted following a cross from the left.
    • 23' Glenn Whelan with another heavy challenge. Wolves too are getting stuck in.
    • 22' Fletcher back on after the physio looked him over.
    • 21' There's a swirling wind around Molineux which is making good football hard to produce. Stoke may be hard, but they also have occasional moments of class - usually at home though! Stoke team page
    • 20' Fletcher with a clever turn and is smashed by Abdoulaye Faye! He got the ball but, as Tony Pulis's sides tend to do, he went in hard - and took more after it had gone. We'll give Faye the benefit of the doubt.
    • 19' Van Damme with a good cross for £7m man Fletcher, who steps back to volley over the bar. More promising from the Wolves.
    • 18' Wolves with a spell on the ball. Stoke have been on the backfoot for the last few minutes.
    • 17' Sylvan Ebanks-Blake looks for Fletcher but their fledgling partnership is yet to fire and the pass is cut out.
    • 15' Jones was devastated on the touchline. He looked lively in the opening minutes of the game and hit the woodwork for his new club.
    • 14' Stoke change: Sidibe for Jones.
    • 13' Mamady Sidibe is getting ready to come on in his place.
    • 12' The striker seems hurt and is seen to for a long time before they get him off the pitch. He remains on the floor as play resumes.
    • 10' Kenwyne Jones hit with a hefty tackle from Craddock and is staying down.
    • 9' Check out what is happening around the country in today's Premier League matches: Latest scores
    • 8' Wolves have the ball in the net, but it won't count. Stephen Ward crossed and Fletcher jumped into Thomas Sorensen - it was a foul - before David Jones slammed home.
    • 7' It is headed away easily at the front of the box. Home man Jelle Van Damme is also bloodied after an early challenge.
    • 6' Stoke having the better of the attacking ball. They win a throw-in... and a bloodied Rory Delap is over to take the first long throw of the campaign.
    • 5' Quite a niggly opening, with Lee Probert giving several fouls already. No cards as yet though.
    • 4' Steven Fletcher loses out in a tussle with a Stoke defender. The Potters always difficult to break down.
    • 3' Kenwyne Jones bursts free down the right and will get a shot in from an angle... off the crossbar!!
    • 3' Matthew Etherington's cross is nodded away at the back post.
    • 2' Ricardo Fuller wins a foul after skinning Jody Craddock.
    • 1' We're underway with the home side kicking from left to right.
    • 15:00 A huddle from the Wolves boys prior to kick-off.
    • 14:55 The teams emerge to an ovation from the fans.
    • 14:50 The first game of that new top-flight season is finished - Spurs v Man City. Hart hands City point at Spurs
    • 14:45 There is excitement and anticipation inside Molineux of the type that can only mean one thing: the start of a new season.
    • 14:40 Jelle van Damme and Steven Fletcher are both in the first XI for Wolves as they make their debuts but Steven Mouyokolo is missing. Stephen Hunt is also not yet fit enough to begin his Wolves career.
    • 14:35 In the build up to this game Wolves manager Mick McCarthy paid tribute to Stoke counterpart Tony Pulis. McCarthy salutes Pulis' achievement
    • 14:30 Today's referee is Lee Probert from Wiltshire.
    • 14:25 So Stoke City give a debut to record signing Kenwyne Jones who has taken a significant pay cut to join the Potters.

  1. I love this, stoke fans moan about the hard takles put in by wolves, but isn't his supposed to be amns game - thats what stoke said last year. play it hard, but fair, let the refs make the decissions, and fans leave the bitching to the terraces, this should be for comments, not biggotted views.
what wew want is consistency from the refs, then bad tackles will get punished, and cheaters will be found out!

  2. The only dirty tackles I saw at first came from the home team. What a surprise that when we start to give back what we had received (the tackle on jones for starters was a bad one)that idiot probert gets his home shirt on when the home woosesstart baying for blood. By the way Yim Yams we can only get better if thats the best you can do then I would be worried!
