Nikica Jelavic ended Newcastle's hopes of a Champions League place by helping Everton to a 3-1 win on the final day of the Premier League. More
90+5' There goes the final whistle! A 3-1 win for Everton with Cahill off the park.
90+4' Cahill has been sent off for something or other with Cabaye also going to be booked. Bit of bedlam here. He has been sent off for grabbing Cabaye by the neck.
81' Jelavic departs for Everton to a standing ovation. On comes Stracqualursi.
80' Krul keeps out a blistering free-kick from Gibson before the ball lands back in his paws from Cahill's effort. We remain at 3-1 in Everton's favour.
79' Change for Newcastle as Tiote departs to be replaced by Ameobi.
76' Newcasle haven't give up the ghost as Howard claws out a header by Cisse. Claims that it went over the line from Ryan Taylor's cross, but nothing doing.
72' Another change for Everton as Tim Cahill is wheeled on to take over from Phil Neville.
70' GOAL! An own goal by Hibbert as he nods the ball beyond Howard. A 3-1 lead now for the home side.
68' Offside flag goes up against Cisse after Ryan Taylor tried to pick him out.
67' A change coming for Everton as Distin is wheeled on for Heitinga. A standing ovation from the fans.
66' Taylor looking for Cisse in the middle, but an offside flag goes up. Everton fans in full voice.
64' GOAL! Everton lead 3-0. Heitinga pops up unmarked to head home only his second Premier League goal from close range.
63' Suddenly Newcastle find a way through to goal as Ba forces Howard to make a superb stop.
60' Howard seems to have some sort of muscle injury. Bit of a delay in the match for treatment with 30 minutes or so to go.
48' Golden chance for Cisse at the outset of this second half. What a chance that is, but the forward mishits his shot as it falls wide.
47' Ryan Taylor and Sylvain Marveaux are on for Newcastle in place of Perch and Santon. No surprise there.
46' We are ready to go at the start of the second half. Everton get the ball rolling.
45+3' The whistle sounds for the break. A 2-0 lead for Everton at half-time. Meanwhile, Cabaye goes to give the ball boy a hug at the break after pushing him over. A forgettable first half for Newcastle.
45+2' Baines is booked for a late shoulder challenge on Gutierrez.
42' Cisse thumps a shot wide of goal. Great chance, but he slices it wide. Expected that to hit the back of the net from the edge of the area. Not his day so far.
33' Chance for Gutierrez at the other end. The possibilities opened up for him there at the edge of the home box, but he screwed the shot wide. Should have done better.
32' Cracking effort from Gibson as he lets fly from distance. Inces wide of Krul's right-hand post.
26' GOAL! Jelavic scores for Everton. Newcastle all over the place at the back. Krul made a stunning save, but the forward nailed the rebound for a 2-0 lead. Bad call though by the referee as he used his arm.
21' Pienaar drives a shot against the outside of a post after a Baines free-kick had caused havoc in the area.
20' Baines with a fine cross into the middle. Jelavic just offside as he raced away too soon from Coloccini.
17' GOAL! Pienaar sends a shot swirling into the net from distance. Ball deflects off Williamson before flying over Krul. Massive deflection and the home side have the lead.
13' Neville picks out Fellaini with an excellent cross. Header just floats over the bar from inside the visiting area.
11' Another stupid tackle in this game as Tiote takes out Fellaini with a late tackle from behind. No lack of fervour early on here. He is booked.
8' Heitinga is going to be booked here for a crunching two-footed tackle on Cisse. Lucky to avoid a straight red for that one. Pretty wretched tackle.
2' Howard makes a save from Coloccini in the opening seconds. Seemed to hit off the frame of Cisse who didn't know much about it. Lovely free-kick by Ben Arfa.

45′ Cuttlefish, Yes we got beat, but where did we finish? 5th, where did Sunderland finish? 13th. That is awful. Bottom half of the table, and worse than we did on our promotion season. Seriously you come on here to gloat!! You sad mackems make us Newcastle fans laugh out loud.
Anonymous, hmm can't even use a nickname. Newcastle no doubt will see one or two players leave, but then will be replaced. No player has said they want to leave, in fact most have said they want to stay. However, we do know our chairman has a history of selling if the price is right, but then so do other clubs. Hopefully, this time he will fight the urge to sell our top players.
I guess next season will be a lot of move out player from Newcastle like Demba ba, Papiss cisse, Ben Arfa, n maybe Tim krull... At least thats what Newcastle can do feed another club for cash...
In the end ,the result didnt matter as totnum did the biz as expected aganst the av ver sav verners .
oh well 5th isn't bad, its still above chelsea
There are some sad assed buggers on here true Newcastle did well with what they got a good start means everything, but Evertons form since January has beeb a revalation jelavic's Signing a Moyes masterpiece Bring on the new season and lets get stuck in early well done you blues great season of entertainment......oh and where did the reds finish?????/

The Geordie lads like Everton because in their words "we are a true traditional Club" well done to both sets of fans today on the fantastic support.
Joseph, and your shyte and no better than the relegated team's.
Didnt I say you are average and very lucky to be where you are !!
cuttlefish: I see your lot did the usual thing today. No big change at your club. Relegation next season, goodbye and good riddance to the dirtiest team in the EPL.

Tnia: Grow some then walk away quietly.

DEREK: Deluded champion of the world, muppet alongside all the other jealous mackem inbred muppets.
I see Tom has decided Newcastle are everyones second team, what a deluded chump he is. Todays result dosen't lie, but the position of their place in the league is a lie and one of the biggest flukes in the business.
I was really looking forward to wearing my vintage Newcastle Brown shirt next year and explaining to my fellow Canadians that there are other British teams that play in the Champions League besides Chelsea, Man U. and Arsenal. Most Canucks don't even realize there is a competition for the top four spots since they have been locked down for so long. Maybe next year. Away the lads!.
Anthony -63- did you write that before the OG? cos I was with you 100% until 74 mins - Now it doesnt seem such a great idea, maybe if we're still 2 ahead & the pen is in injury time. Gutted for Tony Hibbert tho, he doesn't desaerve to be remembered just for never scoring
Well done Everton, a well deserved win today.
Newcastle you have been fantastic entertainment this season, it's a shame it couldn't be a fairytale ending for you, but you are everybodies second team in the country now for sure. If Ashley and Pardew can maintain their investment banking approach to football, and sell high, and buy quality low... then I think Newcastle can be much more than a one season wonder. I think the key now is Newcastle don't get to big for their boots, they sell maybe one or two of their now very high priced players, and in return, they wheel and deal and bring in 4,5 players to strengthen the squad, all with potential, and they bank the rest of the cash. If I were Ashley or Pardew right now... I'd be seriously considering selling Krul who has a value of about £15-18 million, and you can replace keepers easier, a cheap one like Kuzcak from United who has ability, or Joe Lewis who has something to prove and can step up. With that £15-18 million, I'd try and sign maybe Victor Moses for a good 6-8 million, he's a player whose value could rocket. I'd try to get in Dempsey or Hoilett on a free, those would be fantastic signings, but tough. Soloman Kalou would also be very good on a free. And then I'd look to sign a big central defender on the cheap, but plenty of potential, maybe one of these obscure French players the Toon are so great at signing.
