    • 90+3' The full-time whistle goes at Anfield, and Liverpool have thrashed an off-colour Chelsea 4-1 courtesy of goals from Henderson, Agger, Shelvey and an own goal from Essien. Ramires grabbed one back for Chelsea and Downing missed a penalty. Di Matteo's side suffer a big blow to their hopes of grabbing fourth spot, and Liverpool are left to celebrate a fine win. Thanks for joining us.
    • 90+2' Agger heads wide of the far post as he dives to meet a cross from Carroll, and that is another reprieve for Chelsea.
    • 90+1' Liverpool break down the right through Sterling, and he is lightning quick as he finds Suarez, who wins a corner.
    • 90' There will be three added minutes at the end of this second half as Carroll is named the official man-of-the-match. Do you agree with that?
    • 89' Kuyt forces his way down the right and combines with Suarez, but it results in the latter slicing a shot narrowly wide of the near post!
    • 87' Lukaku takes the ball down the right for Chelsea, but he lacks support and invention from the byline.

    • 85' Lukaku continues to work exceptionally hard in attack for Chelsea, despite missing that chance.
    • 84' Sterling immediately gets in with yards of space, but he volleys wide on his left foot. What an impact that would have been!
    • 83' Raheem Sterling also comes on as Downing is withdrawn. His wait for a goal goes on after that missed penalty.
    • 82' Maxi Rodriguez waves goodbye to the Liverpool fans as he is subbed off, with Dirk Kuyt coming on in his place. He will seek pastures new in the summer.
    • 81' Dalglish looks poised to make a string of subs now as he has all of his replacements warming up.
    • 80' Skrtel fouls Torres 25 yards out, and Chelsea have another free kick which Malouda and Essien stand over...
    • 79' Suarez stands over a free kick on the edge of the Chelsea box, but his effort is blocked by the wall.
    • 78' Malouda fires a stray shot wide of the target in what is a rather speculative effort, and Chelsea are losing all hope here.
    • 77' Torres wins a free kick for Chelsea as he takes a long ball down in his stride and is fouled by Maxi, but the resulting set piece is wasted.
    • 76' Chelsea continue to stroke the ball around at the back, but the visitors are perhaps keen to just ensure that they do not concede further goals at the back with this scoreline.
    • 75' Carroll is left with few options outwide on the left, but he hooks a speculative effort agonisingly over the crossbar - what a fine attempt!
    • 73' CHANCE! Lukaku heads on target from close range, and it's a clear-cut chance for the striker after a fine cross from Malouda, but Reina makes a fine reflex save!
    • 71' Malouda whips over the free kick, but Skrtel clears with a powerful header.
    • 70' Ramires hobbles back to his feet and is moving very gingerly, but looks just about okay to continue.
    • 69' Agger is penalised for a clumsy challenge on Ramires, and that was a pretty crude lunge which earns him a yellow card.
    • 68' Chelsea build from the back once more, but it's slow going from the visitors as they confront a three-goal deficit.
    • 67' Romelu Lukaku comes on to replace the ineffectual Sturridge, and he provides Torres some support in attack.
    • 66' Di Matteo has most of his subs warming up vigorously now as he prepares to make a few changes. Who to bring off?
    • 65' Henderson is now booked for a late challenge on halfway, but Liverpool are swiftly back in possession.
    • 63' Carroll attempts an overhead kick in the Chelsea box as a high ball drops his way, but he is penalised for dangerous play with Terry nearby.
    • 62' What an awful mistake that was from Turnbull, who was hopelessly out of goal when Shelvey applied the finish.
    • 61' GOAL!!!! SHELVEY SCORES LIVERPOOL'S FOURTH! It's a horrendous mistake from Turnbull, who miscues a left-footed clearance, scuffing it straight to Shelvey who slams an emphatic finish into an empty net!
    • 59' Liverpool continue to battle away in midfield, and the hosts are thriving still with a two-goal cushion.
    • 58' Downing and Henderson keep the ball in midfield, and the pace of the game remains frenetic.
    • 57' Henderson wins a free kick at the expense of Sturridge, but Chelsea clear through Ferreira as Sturridge again takes the ball forward.
    • 55' Johnson maraudes down the right at pace before cutting back inside, but Essien and Romeu combine to clear the danger.
    • 54' STAT: In only two of the last seven clashes between these two teams in all competitions have both sides managed to get on the scoresheet.
    • 53' Suarez is very frustrated with the referee as he is penalised for a nudge on Ivanovic.
    • 52' Essien looks bright at the start of this second half, keeping the ball running in midfield and attempting to drive forward.
    • 51' Chelsea are buoyed by that goal back, and are enjoying a good period of possession in midfield.
    • 50' GOAL!!!! RAMIRES SCORES FOR CHELSEA! Malouda whips over a devilish free kick from the right which Ramires gets a touch on, and Reina is unable to prevent it from squirming through and into the net - a soft goal!
    • 50' Andy Carroll has scored three goals in his last five Liverpool appearances; the same number as he had managed in his previous 29 apps for the club.
    • 49' Shelvey fouls Ramires now as referee Friend is left to give him a final, final warning!
    • 47' Shelvey commits a foul on halfway as Chelsea have a chance to build at the start of this second half. Neither boss has made a change as yet.
    • 46' The second half is underway at Anfield, and many are asking why Carroll did not start in the FA Cup final on Saturday - Dalglish may well be left to rue that decision by the way he is playing this evening.
    • 45+4' The half-time whistle goes at Anfield and, astonishingly, it is 3-0 to Kenny Dalglish's side with Chelsea absolutely stunned! An own goal from Essien was followed by goals from Henderson and Agger, with Terry having a nightmare at the back. It could have been four, but for Downing hitting the post with a stoppage-time penalty. Phew! Get in touch with your reaction on Twitter...
    • 45+3' HE'S MISSED IT! Downing steps up to take the spot kick, but side-foots it against the post with Turnbull sent the wrong way! Still no goal for Downing this season...
    • 45+2' It will be Downing to take it after referee Friend has placated the Chelsea players...
    • 45+1' PENALTY! Ivanovic very cynically elbows Carroll in the chest as the Liverpool forward looks to latch on to a cross-field ball inside the Chelsea box, and it's a penalty!
    • 45' There will be two added minutes at the end of this first half, and Liverpool are back in possession in the Chelsea half.
    • 43' Malouda whips the ball into the box, but a powerful header away from Carroll clears the danger.
    • 42' Torres wins a corner at the other end with a driving run down the left, and Agger turns the ball behind with a safety-first approach.
    • 41' What an effort from Downing! The winger unleashes a dipping volley from 25 yards which beats Turnbull and hits the crossbar - what a very fine effort!
    • 40' The home fans are absolutely loving this and continue to jeer Torres every time he receives the ball - which has not been very often so far.
    • 39' Chelsea are unable to get out of their half at the moment as Liverpool continue to apply the pressure, with Suarez and Carroll combining superbly.
    • 38' Liverpool pile forward once more as Carroll holds the ball up and wins an attacking throw in down the left.
    • 37' Chelsea win a corner as Malouda makes some ground down the left, but Liverpool clear with ease and the hosts are brimming with confidence as they break at pace.
    • 36' STAT: Liverpool have conceded fewer shots on target against them than any other team in the top flight this season (126).
    • 35' Suarez is causing real havoc as he jinks between challenges from Essien and Terry before firing a low shot wide.
    • 34' This really is a torrid first half from Chelsea, and Liverpool continue to pile on the pressure with Downing charging down the left and shooting wide.
    • 33' Carroll attemps a through ball to Suarez as he finds space once more, but this time his strike partner is caught offside.
    • 32' Carroll drives a low shot on target as he finds yet more space at the expense of his marker Terry, but this time Turnbull saves comfortably.
    • 31' So, time to cast your vote: on a scale of 1-10, how well is John Terry performing?
    • 30' It was actually Agger who headed home from close range, with Carroll providing the assist. What a dismal opening this is from Chelsea!
    • 29' GOAL!!!! AGGER MAKES IT THREE! This is unbelievable as Daniel Agger makes it 3-0 within the opening half hour of this match! The corner is whipped over with Andy Carroll evading Terry to head back to Agger from the back post, and the defender heads home from close range!
    • 28' Liverpool have a corner kick now as they continue to pile on the pressure with Chelsea really struggling early on.
    • 27' That was truly awful from Terry, slipping to commit such a crucial error, and Chelsea are reeling now.
    • 26' In six of the last seven meetings between these two teams (in all competitions), the winning side have scored exactly two goals.
    • 25' GOAL!!! HENDERSON MAKES IT TWO! Again, it is Terry: the Chelsea captain slips crucially as a through ball comes almost straight to him, and Henderson is afforded a simple run at goal and he keeps his head to beat Turnbull with a composed finish!
    • 23' Chelsea are really struggling here, and Terry is summing it up. The captain is not coping at all well with Liverpool's approach play.
    • 22' Essien gets the ball down and sprays it around from deep, and he will be desperate to make amends for that own goal.
    • 21' John Terry is having an absolute nightmare so far in this match, and has been nutmegged three times: twice by Suarez, once by Carroll.
    • 20' Liverpool have scored with only 8.8% of their shots at goal in the Premier League this season; the lowest proportion in the top-flight.
    • 19' GOAL!!! OWN-GOAL FROM ESSIEN! It's all Suarez as he scampers down the right and cuts back from the byline, beating Bertrand and Terry with consummate ease, before Essien turns the ball into his own net from a yard out!
    • 17' STAT: The Reds have scored only 11 goals in their last 10 Premier League home games against Chelsea.
    • 16' Ivanovic hits the bar! The imposing defender leaps high to head powerfully against the near post from Malouda's corner, and that's very unfortunate for the visitors.
    • 15' Straight up at the other end, Malouda sees a fierce shot deflected behind for a corner kick. Can Chelsea use this set piece effectively?
    • 14' Carroll attempts a rather delicate and audacious chip over Turnbull's head, but he overhits it slightly and the ball goes over the bar - an interesting attempt!
    • 13' Paulo Ferreira is booked for a cynical trip on Suarez as the Liverpool forward flies through on goal but is unable to take the ball forward.
    • 12' Malouda stands over a free kick 25 yards out on the left, but his delivery is comfortably cleared away by Agger, who releases Downing.
    • 11' Ivanovic apologises to Torres after lumping a long ball out of play from the back, and Essien is also frustrated with that. /// Dollar reckons that points do not matter to Di Matteo any longer this season with the CL final so soon.
    • 10' Henderson and Maxi combine once more in midfield, but they end up turning back to goal as Chelsea provide real pressure through Romeu and Essien, in particular.
    • 9' STAT: 49% of the goals Chelsea have conceded have been shipped in the last 15 minutes of Premier League games this season. /// Monster asks the question: Do you think Chelsea can make it into the top four despite having their focus on the Champions League final? Discuss...
    • 8' CHANCE! Suarez flies forward at pace and beats Terry with alarming ease, but he lacks composure and drags a poor shot wide of the far post in very hasty fashion!
    • 7' Liverpool keep the ball at the back with ease before Agger brings the ball forward superbly, only to lose it to Bertrand.
    • 6' Malouda goes down clutching his head under a challenge from Shelvey but Liverpool play on until Downing loses the ball. /// Alexander thinks Dalglish has got it wrong, while Ryan Parsons thinks it will be 2-1 to the Reds. Monster F1 is questioning Di Matteo's confidence in putting out such a weakened team.
    • 5' Romeu finds Torres, who is jeered as he loses the ball to Skrtel who then finds Reina. Liverpool can finally enjoy some of the ball at the back.
    • 4' Liverpool have won five of the last seven Premier League meetings between the teams, and the last three in a row.
    • 3' Carroll fouls Ivanovic in the box, and a decent opening is wasted as a deep cross comes over from Maxi.
    • 2' Suarez, who was very isolated for much of the game on Saturday, gets his first touch of the game as he links up with Maxi Rodriguez.
    • 1' The first half is underway at Anfield, and Chelsea immediately get the ball down and stroke it around at the back with Romeu dropping very deep to link the play. /// Monee_11 reckons it will be 3-1 to Liverpool, while Andrew Bischoping thinks Lukaku should get more time.
    • 19:55 It's time for some predictions: what do you think the scoreline will be this evening, and who are you backing to get on the scoresheet? Also, do you think Di Matteo and Dalglish have picked the right line-ups for this evening's clash? Get in touch with me on Twitter!
    • 19:50 Liverpool defender Daniel Agger believes the club is heading in the right direction and has targeted two wins from the team's two remaining games. "There's not much more to say right now. We are all just so disappointed," he said. "We have got two games left in the season and we have got to try and win them. That is how we will start to move forward." Agger quotes in full
    • 19:45 Juan Mata has urged Chelsea not to throw in the towel on their top-four dream. Mata said of the clash at Anfield: "We have to win and still believe in playing the Champions League next year." The Blues' hopes of finishing third or fourth looked doomed after Wednesday night's defeat to Newcastle that left them four points adrift with just two games remaining, but other results have kept their hopes alive. Read more
    • 19:40 Chelsea are desperate to apply further pressure on Newcastle and Tottenham above them as Di Matteo's side chase fourth spot and Champions League football. They currently sit four points behind Newcastle and five behind Spurs with this game in hand. Meanwhile, Liverpool are down in ninth and can move above Fulham on goal difference with a win. Premier League table
    • 19:35 Former Kop idol Fernando Torres returns to Anfield for the first time since his £50 million departure in January last year as one of eight changes. With his team the outsiders to finish in the top four, manager Roberto di Matteo makes numerous alterations to the team which won the FA Cup against the Reds on Saturday as this month's Champions League final against Bayern Munich is his primary focus.
    • 19:30 Liverpool make four changes from their team, with captain Steven Gerrard absent from the squad but Wembley goalscorer Andy Carroll returning to the line-up.
    • 19:25 LIVERPOOL: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Downing, Henderson, Shelvey, Maxi, Suarez, Carroll. • 19:15 Just days after winning the FA Cup against Liverpool, Chelsea face the same opponents at Anfield as they chase fourth spot in the Premier League table.

  8. Best joke I heard this month. Referee went into the Chelsea dressing room before the cup final and told the players that anyone trying to man mark Andy Carroll would be booked for time wasting. Surpassed by the claims of Carroll for england after this. Same people who believe Stuart also no goals Downing should play at Euro 2012. I'm not watching it if they do.

Liverpool are a team going backwards. I'm sure the new owner is horrified at the lack of diversity in this team. This is not the 70's, 80's or 90's. Liverpool were once a great side. Kenny Daglish strikes me as a man stuck in a time warp & a deep seated racist. No Black players in his first team other than Glen Johnson?. That is a disgrace. I suppose the only good thing about it is that after the vast amount of money that he has wasted & the fall out from the Suarez incident, Liverpool look likely to be irrelevent for the near future. Meanwhile, all the other teams who celebrate diversity are enjoying success. Yes, Liverpool won the Carling Cup, pretty much a nothing cup nowadays, look at there position in the league. Gerrard will retire soon. Reina will jump ship for some real action soon. Carroll?, 35 mil?. I don't think so!. Liverpool finishing below Everton for me will be great, considering a team with no money has far more diversity in their first team than a team that wastes it with prime candidates for the BNP.

  15. Good sensible comments at the sensible and realistic end of season. Liverpool deserved better than 8th place and will be better next season. AVB destroyed Chelsea's season. RDM has done excellently with a mediocre side, held together by the golden oldies, who were so unfairly berated by those who don't know better. The Drog, Ashley Cole, Petr Chech, Lamps, JT, Ramires and Mata have performed wonders ably supported by Ramires and Mata and lately the unlikely twins Kalou and Mikel. Disappointed that Essien has lost it and Romelu, Malouda, and Sturridge especially are not playing out of their skins with a CL place up for grabs. Need some new youn hungry players in the mould of P Cisse. The Europa league might be a better tournament for a team in transition to cut their teeth as the Mancs Real, Barcelona and the Milans will certainly improve their awesome squads in the summer.
