    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this match, along with every Premier League game, from 00:01 on Monday morning (UK only).
    • 90+4' FULL TIME. And one of the most ridiculous scorelines in the history of the Premier League is sealed. United win 8-2 as Rooney scores a hat-trick. Simply incredible.
    • 90+3' And Park fires one over the bar. Wow. I can't recall watching a game like this for quite some time. These teams are in theory supposed to be fairly evenly matched.
    • 90+1' GOAL! 8-2 Manchester United! Young with another screamer and it is eight. EIGHT. The most disastrous result of Wenger's career and Arsenal are in one hell of a hole now. United have been exceptional, but the story is Arsenal.
    • 90' We will have three minutes of added time at Old Trafford.
    • 89' Smalling fires in a wicked cross and Arsenal clear their lines. This could well have been double figures today.
    • 88' Rosicky chops down Young by the touchline as his frustration comes to the fore. Arsenal just need this to be over.
    • 86' Ramsey curls a shot wide for Arsenal. But if there is another goal in this game then it is coming at the other end.
    • 84' Van Persie and Walcott are spared further punishment when Marouane Chamakh and Henri Lansbury come on.
    • 83' "You're getting sacked in the morning" sing the United fans at Wenger. He isn't, but this is the lowest moment of his career in North London.
    • 82' GOAL! 7-2 Manchester United! Rooney bags a hat-trick when converting from 12 yards. A dismal, dismal afternoon for Arsenal.
    • 81' Penalty to United! Walcott fouls Evra!
    • 79' Can this get any worse? An absolute hammering, yet another sending off? Confidence through the floor? Arsene Wenger has real work on his hands and Arsenal are heading for one point from three games.
    • 78' Rooney takes the free-kick but he can't claim a hat-trick as the effort flies wide.
    • 78' Jenkinson has had a torrid afternoon, but then again so have the rest of his team-mates. Yet another suspension - a fourth of the season in the Premier League for the Gunners.
    • 77' Red card. Jenkinson shown a second yellow for barging Hernandez over on the edge of the box.
    • 75' Arshavin wants a penalty when going down under pressure from Jones in the box but quite rightly referee Web waves the protests away.
    • 74' GOAL! Manchester United 6-2 Arsenal! IT'S ON! Well, maybe not, but Arsenal get one back when a header from Jenkinson finds Van Persie in space and he lashes the ball home from close range.
    • 72' Koscielny misses at the back post with a header and he really should have scored. Arsenal really are a complete embarrassment today, it must be said. This is the lowest moment of Wenger's reign, no doubt about it.
    • 71' This is quite incedible. We mentioned the 2001 6-1 prior to kick-off and now we have that scoreline again.
    • 70' GOAL! 6-1 Manchester United! Dear God, what is this going to end as? Now it is Park with the finish as he receives a pass back from Young and slots the ball across the goal and in.
    • 70' Rooney strikes the post with a delightful chip! Arsenal are completely falling to pieces!
    • 69' Arsenal's defence has been a complete joke today. There is no other way to describe it really. Only Koscielny is a regular member of the first XI but still, you cannot defend like that in the Premier League, or any league.
    • 68' Nani off and Park Ji-sung comes on. Anderson replaced by Ryan Giggs.
    • 67' GOAL! 5-1 Manchester United! More lamentable defending from Arsenal allows Rooney to open up the defence with a pass through to Nani, who chips Szczesny in dismissive fashion. Rightly so.
    • 66' The margin is well deserved in truth. Arsenal have been an absolute shambles at the back and outclassed all over the pitch.
    • 64' GOAL! 4-1 Manchester United! Rooney scores with a second free-kick and that was truly magical. He knocks the ball to Young, and as Szczesny moves to his left, Rooney puts it the other side with a lovely curling finish.
    • 63' Djourou booked for hauling down Rooney. That was messy.
    • 62' Coquelin replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
    • 61' Huge chance for United! Young is denied by a fine save from Szczesny and when he gets the ball back and squares for Nani, his team-mate cannot finish.
    • 60' United's fans now find their voice after some sustained singing from the away contingent. United respond as Hernandez attempts to lob Szczesny from a tight angle, as Nani did earlier. The keeper saves.
    • 59' Lovely stuff from United. Cleverley plays a clever one-two with Hernandez to leave himself free in front of goal, but his finish is weak and low and Szczesny saves with ease.
    • 58' Arsenal have improved since half-time but United are still the superior side.
    • 56' A great chance for Arsenal. Arshavin gets in behind Jones and drives into the box, but then drags his shot wide of the near post when he should have tested De Gea.
    • 55' The Arsenal fans are in full voice, backing their team, which is heartening to hear. They haven't lost belief, and perhaps that has transmitted to the team.
    • 53' A lovely pass from Rosicky finds Van Persie and his fierce volley is well saved by De Gea at his near post. Encouraging for Arsenal though.
    • 51' Howard Webb stops play after Evra clatters into Walcott from behind.
    • 50' Nani gets in behind the defence but gets a rush of blood to the head and tries to chip Szczesny from a tight angle. He finds the roof of the net.
    • 49' A stray boot by Jenkinson catches Young on the knee and the England man is in some pain. He should be okay to continue though.
    • 48' Young forces Szczesny into a smart stop at his near post after more poor defending. Arsenal haven't learned their lesson then.
    • 48' It's been a bright start to the half for Arsenal, with Jenkinson looking to get in behind.
    • 47' Otto Rock gets in contact via Twitter: "The Prem League is the most exciting footy in the world right now. Manchester teams top of the pile."
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • - What a half! Send us your thoughts using the comments form below, or give me a shout on Twitter if you want. @tomEurosport
    • 45+3' HALF TIME. A glimmer of hope for Arsenal at the end but it was pretty brutal for much of the half.
    • 45+3' GOAL! Manchester United 3-1 Arsenal! Walcott pulls one back. Rosicky plays the England winger in and his low effort flies through the legs of De Gea. It was a good finish but the keeper should save it.
    • 45+2' Now Rooney attempts to catch Szczesny off his line from 50 yards or so. The Poland international catches the ball though.
    • 45+1' We will have three added minutes at Old Trafford.
    • 45' It is tough to see what Arsenal do from here. They have been so completely outclassed in every respect, and appear to have no belief whatsoever. This could end up a very bad scoreline indeed.
    • 44' That, by the way, was Rooney's 150th goal for Manchester United. He does enjoy a game against Arsenal, doesn't he?
    • 42' Ramsey gets a glimpse of a chance in the box but slips on the Old Trafford turf. Well, this is becoming pretty traumatic for the Gunners now.
    • 41' GOAL! 3-0 Manchester United! From the following set-piece, Rooney curls an brilliant free-kick over the wall and into the top corner. Szczesny gets a palm to the ball but it's not enough.
    • 39' Jenkinson hauls down Young as he attempts to race onto a high ball over the top.
    • 37' It's Nani who takes the free-kick though and his effort flies high into the stands.
    • 39' Djourou is penalised for coming through the back of Young and bundling the United man to the floor in a central position. This looks nicely placed...
    • 38' Arshavin now opts to shoot from 25 yards and flings his effort well over the bar. Poor.
    • 37' Arshavin gets away with a pretty reckless tackle on Young, considering he was already been booked. He should be off really.
    • 36' Here comes Chicharito... Javier Hernandez replaces Welbeck.
    • 35' Oh dear. Welbeck chases a ball over the top and the forward pulls up having done his hamstring. How unlucky.
    • 34' United are swarming all over Arsenal like ants at a picnic. That penalty miss seems to have sucked a fair bit of belief out of this inexperienced team.
    • 32' Rooney with a sumptuous cross for Welbeck, who sends a diving header wide at the far post. This is getting brutal for Arsenal now.
    • 31' De Gea with a double save! The Spaniard gets down low to save from Arshavin's straight drive and then prevents Van Persie from converting from a tight angle with his legs.
    • 30' This just sums up Arsenal. Comical defending, spurning a chance to get back in the game and then being completely outlcassed.
    • 29' GOAL! 2-0 Manchester United! Traore heads clear and Ashley Young takes possession of the ball from 30 yards. He jinks one way and then the other to find space away from Coquelin and then scores with a wonderful curling effort into the top corner. Sheer class.
    • 28' Well that might have been Arsenal's chance to get something out of this game gone. How disappointing for them.
    • 27' Penalty saved! De Gea throws himself to his right and produces a fine save to deny Van Persie from 12 yards.
    • 26' Evans is only booked.
    • 26' Penalty to Arsenal! Walcott brought down by Jonny Evans!
    • 25' What on earth are Koscielny and Djourou doing on a pitch if they can't even step in and head away when there is two of them against Welbeck? Honestly, that was so, so poor from two defenders who should know better.
    • 24' Chris Smalling drills a shot wide of the far post as United go in search of a second. They scent blood here. No doubt about it.
    • 23' That really was awful, awful defending from the two centre-backs. They were so weak.
    • 22' GOAL! 1-0 Manchester United! Such a soft goal. Koscielny heads clear from an Evra free-kick and Anderson collects possession. He lofts a cheeky pass over the top and both Djourou and Koscielny completely fail to deal with, allowing Welbeck to head past Szczesny.
    • 22' Evra races away down the left and Arsenal's inability to deal with the Frenchman sparks a heated argument between Walcott and Jenkinson.
    • 21' Coquelin produces a fine tackle in midfield and when the ball finds Walcott on the edge of the box, he makes space before dinking a cross into the middle of nowhere.
    • 20' Cleverley is forced to receive treatment as he is bleeding after being caught in the face by a stray arm from Rosicky. It wasn't deliberate.
    • 19' Van Persie swings in a corner from the right and Laurent Koscielny rises at the back post. However, his header flies high and wide.
    • 18' Jenkinson slips when shaping to cross. However, he recovers and does get the ball in the box, only to see no Arsenal shirts in the near vicinity. Since when did Arsenal get players in the box though?
    • 17' Nani absolutely embarrasses Arshavin with some Garrincha-style skill but the Russian recovers to turn the ball behind for a corner. Arsenal clear from the set-piece.
    • 15' Arshavin sends Jones sprawling when leaving his leg in as the United defender plays the ball away. That was a dirty challenge and Jones is down hurt. He hobbles away though.
    • 14' United construct a lovely passing move but fail to penetrate the Arsenal defence. Rosicky is then guilty of a poor pass as United threaten to test Szczesny again.
    • 12' Arsenal indulge in some intricate passing in and around the United box that results in Walcott dragging a poor shot wide of the post. Robin van Persie should have shot earlier in the move but took a touch too many.
    • 11' Cleverley gets a talking to from referee Howard Webb after a clumsy challenge on Aaron Ramsey in the centre of the pitch.
    • 10' Walcott concedes possession to Evra on the right and United find Welbeck, who tries to square for Young. His run into the box is blocked off by Francis Coquelin and Rooney goes to ground, but it was a good piece of work by the Arsenal man.
    • 9' Andrei Arshavin attempts to play in Theo Walcott through the centre but his pass has too much on it, even for the lightning-quick winger.
    • 8' The first good opening of the game. Welbeck runs off Laurent Koscielny to meet a through-ball from Ashley Young and fires his shot across goal and wide.
    • 7' Nani jinks inside Traore all too easily but his cross for Rooney is too high for the striker, despite his quite prodigious leap near the penalty spot.
    • 6' Carl Jenkinson tries an effort from 30 yards which is blocked. It's a big game for the man signed from Charlton this summer. He looked decent against Udinese in midweek.
    • 5' Now Rooney has hit first shot of the afternoon but Szczesny is equal to his drive from 25 yards. Arsenal are already under pressure, as expected.
    • 4' Phil Jones comes marauding forward, as is his wont, and finds Rooney. United turn back and buld from the back again and threaten to open up Arsenal for a second before Johan Djourou clears.
    • 3' Wayne Rooney muscles his way past Armand Traore on the right and pulls the ball back for Tom Cleverley, who sends a curling effort wide of the post.
    • 2' Well they haven't conceded yet, so it's not too bad for Arsenal.
    • 1' Inside 30 seconds and Wojciech Szczesny is closed down by Danny Welbeck when trying to clear. Luckily it's only a goal kick as it comes off the United forward last.
    • 1' KICK OFF!
    • 15.58 Right then, a repeat of that famous 6-1 in 2001, or perhaps Arsenal's most defiant performance in recent memory? Either way, this should be pretty special...

    • 15:50 Pre-match odds: Manchester United (1.50), Arsenal (6.00) and the draw (4.33)... Stat: Arsenal have taken 13 points from their last 13 games - the worst run under Wenger. The last time the Gunners had a worse run was in 1995.
    • 15:45 What do you make of the two teams? Injuries to Abou Diaby and Jack Wilshere and the departure of Denilson on loan have seen options in central midfield diminish sharply. This has not been helped by the recklessness of Arsenal's only two defensive midfielders, Alex Song and Emmanuel Frimpong, who have both picked up suspensions that rule them out of the trip.
    • 15:40 TEAMS: Man Utd: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Nani, Cleverley, Anderson, Young, Rooney, Welbeck. Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Berbatov, Giggs, Park, Hernandez, Fabio Da Silva /// Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Djourou, Koscielny, Traore, Ramsey, Coquelin, Rosicky, Walcott, van Persie, Arshavin. Subs: Fabianski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh, Lansbury, Miquel, Ozyakup, Sunu
    • 15:35 While United spent £50 million to bring in David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, Arsenal lost two of their star names - Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri - and are now left in a situation that sees them short of players just a few days before the transfer window slams shut. It looks set to be a very depleted side which Wenger names to run out today...
    • 15:30 For fans of video previews for huge Premier League matches, you are in for a treat... Video: Arsenal under pressure for United clash
    • 15:25 But aside from questioning Arsenal's trophy drought, Sir Alex Ferguson has also savaged Arsene Wenger's critics: "I would like to know who is going to replace him. The work he has done in the 15 years he has been at the club is the best in Arsenal's history. Yes, he has not won a trophy for six years but what does that mean? The quality of his side has not been reduced."
    • 15:20 Sir Alex Ferguson began the mind-games ahead of the clash by insisting he would never have allowed his club to go six years without a trophy. The Gunners have not won any silverware since 2005 when they claimed the FA Cup. On the prospect of going six years without winning anything, Ferguson said: "I wouldn't have allowed that to happen." Fergie: Arsenal trophy wait too long
    • 15:15 It seems churlish to suggest it with only two games of the Premier League gone, but Arsenal's trip to Old Trafford may well define how their season pans out. A team in crisis faces one brimming with confidence. While Arsenal gained some pride back by sealing a place in the Champions League group stages with a win over Udinese, their league campaign has yet to get off the ground.
    • 15:10 TEAM NEWS: Midfielder Darren Fletcher will return to the squad. The Scottish international has been suffering from virus which limited him to just two appearances between March and May last season and has so far kept him out of United's side this term. Rio Ferdinand and Antonio Valencia are back in training but Nemanja Vidic will be absent for another month.
    • 15:05 Arsenal trio Alex Song, Gervinho and Emmanuel Frimpong are suspended. Jack Wilshere saw a specialist on Friday but the club are still waiting for an update on his ankle injury which is expected to keep him out for three more weeks. Nicklas Bendtner is sidelined with an ankle problem and Sebastien Squillaci is also out, along with Kieran Gibbs (hamstring) and Abou Diaby (ankle). Defender Thomas Vermaelen will have a fitness test and Laurent Koscielny is back.
    • 15:00 Manchester United host Arsenal in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford with Arsene Wenger already under real pressure at the start of an already faltering campaign.
