    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this, plus every other Premier League game, from 00:01 on Monday (UK only). Thanks for joining me today. I predicted a low-scoring game, so how did that go? You can heckle me on Twitter - twitter.com/alexchick81
    • 90+4' Mark Clattenburg blows for full-time, and how's that for a statement of intent? City have absolutely destroyed United at Old Trafford. Incredible scoreline, and an astonishing capitulation from the champions.
    • 90+3' GOAL!! SIX!! INCREDIBLE! What an extraordinary result! Silva volleys an extraordinary, defence-splitting pass for Dzeko, who makes no mistake with his left-foot this time!
    • 90+3' Great chance for Dzeko!! Silva feeds him, there is still nobody bothering to defend and the City striker blazes over left-footed!
    • 90+2' Well, NOW there are some empty seats. Indicentally, there will be three minutes of added time.
    • 90+1' OH MY, IT'S FIVE! David Silva!! Dzeko slides it through to Silva who pokes the ball through De Gea's legs! Defenders not in picture...
    • 89' GOAL!! It's four! An odd, shambolic goal! Bary heads a corner across goal, Lescott pulls it back and Dzeko finishes from close range with his knee!
    • 89' Aleksandar Kolarov comes on for James Milner, who takes an absolute age coming off. Team player.
    • 88' City work the ball inside from the right with some futsal-style quick feet. Toure shoots from the edge of the box with the outside of his right foot, but sends his shot wide.
    • 87' United put a couple of dangerous crosses in from the right. Smalling heads the first one over, while Hart claims the second.
    • 86' Oh, here's a yellow. Richards booked for his challenge on Welbeck.
    • 85' Barry kicks the ball away after committing a foul. Clattenburg is not convinced it's worth a yellow despite the baying crowd.
    • 84' At least United have got City timewasting instead of simply lording it. Cold comfort, admittedly. Whistles as Nasri dallies over a throw.
    • 83' Welbeck hacks Richards, who has overcome a torrid start to have a great game. Yellow card. That was a Manc-on-Manc foul. Something of a rarity these days.
    • 82' Betfair make the draw 45/1, United 300/1 to win. So not very likely...
    • 82' What odds the mother of all comebacks? I'll tell you.
    • 81' GOAL! What a marvellous goal by Darren Fletcher! Welbeck to Rooney to Fletcher, who exchanges passes with Hernandez and sidefoots into the top right corner from the edge of the box. Probably meaningless, but a sumptuous goal.
    • 79' Nasri has replaced Aguero, who got a 'playful' belt round the head from Balotelli as he took his seat.
    • 78' The noisy neighbours are quite frankly pummelling United. Biff! Pow! Ker-thwack! Zork!
    • 77' Here come City on the charge again with a three-on-three... Aguero feeds Dzeko whose shot is saved by De Gea! Could so easily have been four.
    • 75' Dzeko fouls Jones, then does the whole 'brandishing a card' thing. Not sure why. It was a bad foul from the Bosnian. Maybe he was saying 'I deserve a yellow'.
    • 74' A high hanging ball in the United box falls for Silva whose (gasp!) technique lets him down and he sidefoots high over the bar.
    • 73' Welbeck lets fly from the edge of the box... it hits a defender and loops high in the air.
    • 72' A trickle of United fans are heading for the exits - though in fairness the vast majority have stayed for the final minutes of what is a fairly gruesome afternoon for them.
    • 71' Dzeko hits a low shot that takes a touch off Smalling and rolls inches wide of De Gea's goal. Has the Spaniard even made a save yet?
    • 70' That is a sensible (if disappointing) move. Off comes Mario Balotelli, who cannot resist having a pop at some United fans on his way off. Edin Dzeko is the new man.
    • 69' GOAL!! AGUERO MAKES IT THREE! Another brilliant, flowing move. Balotelli backheels for Milner who slides it down the right for Richards, and his cross is turned in from close range by Aguero. United cut to ribbons.
    • 67' Evra flies in on Barry with his studs up, and that could easily be another red card but referee Clattenburg settles for a yellow.
    • 66' I've got a match report to write on this. I know it's an enormous cliche but how do you not use the 'fireworks' line? Suggestions?
    • 65' UNITED: Jones and Hernandez on for Anderson and Nani. Howard Webb is the fourth official. Odd assignment for the best ref in the country...
    • 64' Silva crosses towards Balotelli, but Smalling makes a good clearance to deny the big man a hat-trick.
    • 63' Phil Jones is in his pants getting ready to come on.
    • 62' Anderson flies in and gets booked for a challenge - United doing everything in their power to break up the flow of the game.
    • 61' Well, you have to think that's game over. City two goals and a man to the good against a team who haven't really tested the keeper.
    • 60' GOAL! BALOTELLI AGAIN!! No comedy t-shirt this time! Silva and Milner work the ball brilliantly down the right, Milner crosses low to Balotelli at the back post and it's a simple finish. Wonderful goal, Silva pivotal with a gorgeous spin and lay-off to take Anderson out of the game.
    • 59' The Glazers (the kids, not Malcolm) are pictured in the crowd looking slightly concerned but mainly a bit baffled. They'll be private-jetting it off to Wembley after this to watch their Tampa Bay Buccaneers in action. Consequently, you can blame the Glazers personally if the pitch is a bit scruffy for England's friendlies next month.
    • 58' Rooney works half a yard of space for himself and fires a low shot straight into Hart's arms.
    • 57' Balotelli is not 10 yards away from the corner, which would be a spectacular way to pick up your second yellow card. Clattenburg tells him to scoot.
    • 56' Young dispossesses Milner and dribbles purposefully goalwards. He gets off a weak shot which is put behind for a corner.
    • 55' Balotelli spreads the ball wide right for Milner who fizzes in a cross that just evades the flying Aguero, who had assumed a karate-kick position.
    • 54' Chance for Young! Fletcher crosses low from the right and the England man makes a right hash of the shot, scuffing it into a defender. Should have done better.
    • 54' Balotelli crosses from the right for Aguero, who slips as he attempts to volley. The ball then drops for Richards, who blazes a laughably wild left-foot shot into the upper tier.
    • 53' The replay shows City had a good case for a penalty from that Anderson tackle on Richards.
    • 52' Tremendous trickery from Welbeck in the City box - but he's got no support, tries to go alone and loses out to Lescott.
    • 51' Down goes Richards under Anderson's tackle! Clattenburg makes a ball shape with his hands - Anderson might just have got lucky. Mind you, there wuold have been a riot had he awarded that.
    • 50' Phil Jones is warming up. Although he's not without defensive flaws, it was a surprise to see Jones on the bench today. Surely United would have been better off with Smalling at centre-back, Jones on the right and Evans on the bench? Though I suppose that's easy to say after Evans has been red-carded...
    • 49' Balotelli fires the free-kick low into the wall. United clear, and must now focus on erasing the deficit with 10 men. Yikes.
    • 48' The TV camera cuts to a colossally sullen Nemanja Vidic in the crowd. City now have a free-kick about three nanometres outside the box.
    • 47' RED CARD!! Jonny Evans is off for pulling Balotelli back when through on goal! It's a clear 'DOGSO' offence and that's a good decision. Balotelli was haring onto a lovely Aguero through ball. United in massive, massive trouble.
    • 46' We're back, and the second half is under way. It's City in possession, and neither manager has made any personnel changes.
    • 45+2' Reasonable interplay between Nani and Welbeck, but the move breaks down and that's half-time. Mario Balotelli has City halfway to a famous win. Back in a few minutes.
    • 45+1' One minute of stoppage time to play...
    • 45' United finally shuffle the ball into the box, where both Rooney and Nani fall over. The crowd demand a penalty, without being sure to which incident they are referring, and referee Clattenburg dismisses the appeals.
    • 44' City are back in numbers, as they have been for much of the game. They are terrifically organised when they don't have the ball.
    • 42' Rooney is dropping deeper and deeper in search of the ball. A sign that City are doing a good job of starving supply to United's front two.
    • 41' Kompany trips Welbeck, who is trying to sprint through the middle. That's a booking for the City captain.
    • 40' Young crosses deep from the left for Rooney, who plays it back for Evans - the defender takes a complete airshot and the ball pings away of his standing leg. A good chance, but Evans provided the execution of a man who has never scored for the club.
    • 39' United break with Welbeck who feeds Rooney down the left channel - but Rooney's technique maddenly lets him down and the ball scoots away towards the corner flag.
    • 39' Balotelli tries a Beckham-style semi-sidefoot and it thwacks into the wall.
    • 38' Do you remember that howitzer of a free-kick Balotelli scored for Inter in the Champions League? Similar range. Just saying...
    • 37' Richards appears to bring Fletcher down but referee Clattenburg waves play on. Then Anderson stands on Silva's foot and City have a free-kick 30 yards out. Lucky not to get booked.
    • 36' Rooney shifts the ball onto his left foot and lets fly. It's a pure strike on his weaker foot, but straight at Hart.
    • 35' Silva whips in a free-kick from the right. Toure attacks it at the far post but it whistles out for a goal kick.
    • 34' Hart gets a weak punch on the corner, which comes out to Anderson at the edge of the box. He gets a shot away but fires it straight at Hart.
    • 33' United shift the ball slickly down the left flank, and Young's cross is deflected for another corner.
    • 32' More smart defensive work by Silva, sliding in to block a Nani cross.
    • 31' Even without De Jong in that engine room, City have been relentless in their closing down of players and space. Toure and Barry doing a fine job.
    • 30' Eurosport-Yahoo! and Telegraph man Jim White on Twitter: "Get a fiver on Balotelli being sent off for another trivial yellow. My guess time wasting in the 80th minute..." Not that Jim's biased. @jimw1
    • 29' For all their possession, United have hardly threatened Hart's goal. That, obviously, will be a major concern for Fergie.
    • 28' Nani misplaces a through ball for Welbeck, who has been quiet so far. It would be no surprise to see Hernandez replace him at some point.
    • 27' Young delivers an inswinging cross from the left. Hart leaves it, and watches in momentary horror as the ball swerves a couple of feet wide of the far post.
    • 25' Silva and Clichy double up on Nani, and eventually they get the ball off him. That's not a side of Silva's game we see a lot of, but he did a good job there.
    • 24' The visiting fans are making a terrific noise, but the rest of Old Trafford is very quiet. They didn't see that coming. Balotelli has now scored in his last five games.
    • 23' Amazing from Balotelli, and an instantly famous celebration from the Italian. That was pretty funny, although it did come at the cost of a booking. City lead against the run of play.
    • 22' GOAL!! IT'S MARIO BALOTELLI!! Milner pulls it back to him at the edge of the box and Balotelli sidefoots the ball coolly into the bottom right corner! He stands there, stock still, and pulls his shirt over his head to reveal a t-shirt pleading: 'WHY ALWAYS ME?' Lunatic.
    • 21' This is better from City, as they build down the left with Clichy...
    • 19' Stifled penalty appeals as Kompany makes a lunging tackle on Rooney inside the box. The City captain timed it perfectly.
    • 18' Milner stays down after a challange, but United play on and the City man eventually gets reather sheepishly back to his feet and trots back to defend.
    • 17' Balotelli and Mancini have exchanged a few pleasantries - the manager unhappy about something, and his player responding in kind.
    • 16' Rooney tries to spread the ball to the right this time, but Clichy intercepts a ball intended for Nani.
    • 15' Like Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney loves that long, raking crossfield pass. He plays a beauty from right to left for Young.
    • 14' David Silva goes on a mazy but ultimately aimless run in the United box. He beats Fletcher no fewer than three times but cannot deliver useful ball.
    • 13' We have our first real Balotelli sighting, rolling around on the deck after Smalling goes through the back of him. We've reached the point when you're actively disappointed every time Balotelli doesn't do something crazy.
    • 12' 70 per cent possession for United, much of it down the left where Micah Richards is getting a real going-over.
    • 11' Barry tries to start a counter-attack with an early ball for Silva, but Ferdinand intercepts it and United are on the ball again. They have dominated possession early on.
    • 10' It is all United early on, as Smalling comes forward well down the right and wins a corner with his deflected cross.
    • 9' Referee Clattenburg scolds Milner at length but chooses not to book the midfielder.
    • 8' Another City foul on Young, this time by Milner who hacks wild and late (though there was not much contact).
    • 7' Rooney stands up a high ball to the back post - Anderson can only head it up in the air and out for a goal kick.
    • 6' Richards under pressure from Young early on - he commits another foul then concedes a corner.
    • 5' Anderson gives the ball away to Silva, and the Brazilian chases back to foul Aguero. Anderson has improved hugely in the last 12 months, but that wasn't great. It was rubbish, actually.
    • 4' Young blasts the free-kick into the first man - who was actually Nani - but it has far too much pace to give the Portuguese any chance of controlling the ball.
    • 4' Richards clatters Young just outside the box on the United left - Young himself will whip this free-kick into the six-yard box.
    • 3' Nani's early cross from the right bounces up and hits Welbeck on the inside thigh.. and he cannot control it.
    • 3' Nani goes up against Clichy, and takes the ball out for a goal kick. Clichy has been preferred to Kolarov today - I guess that's because of his extra pace going up against Nani.
    • 2' De Gea is closed down and forced into a hurried clearance. Some early Barca-style defending from the front by Aguero.
    • 1' We're under way! Mark Clattenburg blows his whistle and United kick off, playing from left to right as we see it.
    • 13:29 Cracking atmosphere inside Old Trafford. It's not always the case, but nobody is in any doubt about the importance of this game.
    • 13:27 So, the teams are out. City are still in their sky blue tracksuit tops, United stripped (not completely, of course) and ready for action. It's a mild afternoon in Manchester so I don't really see why the jackets are necessary. But I digress (and am starting to sound like Phil Collins)...
    • 13:25 A claimed in an earlier comment that Nani wasn't starting - that was the act of a madman. He's in the United XI, and he's strolling out onto the Old Trafford pitch. Nani plays.
    • 13:20 Says Twitter's @CarlosDollar: "It'll be a really good game I reckon, despite the fact that uniteds side looks really strong I'll go 2-2." Is your name a tribute to Kia Joorabchian?
    • 13:20 Fergie, talking to Sky, on Nemanja Vidic: "We just felt one and a half games, having been out six weeks before that, was a big ask." And on City: "Surprised." Apparently he didn't expect Aguero to start.
    • 13:15 And another gem from those brave Infostrada boys: 'City are only Premier League side this season that has not been behind at any point. United have trailed for 13 minutes' - against Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday.
    • 13:15 This from Infostrada: 'City failed to win in all four Premier League visits to Big Four clubs last season – losing three, drawing one, scoring a total of one goal. They have failed to win in their last five visits in total, and their last victory came in manager Roberto Mancini's first away match against one of these clubs - a 4-2 victory at Chelsea in February 2010.' That was the occasion of the Bridge/Terry handshake snub.
    • 13:10 On the comments board, Steve predicts: "Nani to score first and united to win 3-1." Possible... Meanwhile Mr Smith harrumphs: "And of what relavence is the firework incident to todays game YAHOO???" You think we shouldn't mention one of the players in today's match nearly burning his house down while launching fireworks out of his bathroom window? Really?
    • 13:05 Over on Twitter, @wadiaskov asks: "Your predictions, Alex?" I'm not a big fan of predictions, but I think we can expect a tight game (interestingly, Arsenal and Chelsea's visits to OT were almost comically open affairs) and possibly a 1-0 scoreline in favour of United. Let me know what you think.
    • 13:00 Confirmed City bench: Pantilimon, Kolo Toure, Zabaleta, Kolarov, De Jong, Nasri, Dzeko. A bit odd that De Jong would be taken out of the starting XI at the last minute, but stay on the bench... He might just have a slight knock, but in the crazy world of City we're practically obliged to draw wildly exaggerated conclusions. I think De Jong has refused to play. I really do. I don't.
    • 12:55 Clamoroso! Over in Serie A, half-time substitute Kevin-Prince Boateng has thundered in a hat-trick for Milan against Lecce. It's now three each and you can follow the rest of the game here.
    • 12:55 In other derby build-up news, the stats PROVE that City are better off without Carlos Tevez. Note: They don't actually prove it.
    • 12:50 It seems everyone has been having a go at putting a composite Manchester XI together this week. Here's our effort - City 6, United 5...
    • 12:45 Interestingly, Yaya Toure has come into the starting XI as a late replacement for Nigel De Jong. We're still waiting on the City subs, presumably as a consequence of that.
    • 12:40 MAN UTD: De Gea, Evra, Ferdinand, Evans, Smalling, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Young, Rooney, Welbeck... Subs: Lindegaard, Jones, Park, Hernandez, Berbatov, Fabio, Valencia. /// MAN CITY: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Barry, Toure, Milner, Silva, Aguero, Balotelli.
    • 12:35 Magnificently, Mario Balotelli starts for City just a day after reportedly setting his house alight with a firework. There is literally nothing that man could do that would surprise us anymore. Full story: Balotelli 'sets fire to house'
    • 12:30 Welcome to live coverage of the Manchester derby from Old Trafford! My name's Alex Chick - if you want to get in touch there's the comments board at the bottom of the page, or you can Tweet me if that's your thing. @alexchick81
