Aston Villa had a first win in nine league games as Christian Benteke and Charles N'Zogbia netted in a 2-1 win over West Ham. More
90+5' FULL TIME. Goals from Benteke and N'Zogbia give Villa a vital win that moves them into 17th place and out of the bottom three. Westwood's late own goal made things interesting at the end.
90+5' Now Guzan tips a Diame header over the bar!
90+4' HUGE CHANCE! Guzan makes a great reaction save at his near post when Nolan rifles a shot at goal!
90+2' Clark is cautioned for handball and West Ham have a free-kick in a good area...
87' GOAL! Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham! Late drama! Cole curls in a free kick and the luckless Westwood flicks it on with his head and sees the ball loop over Guzan and in.
86' Chance for West Ham! Villa fail to clear from a free-kick and the ball bounces out to Vaz Te, who hits the ball into the turf and sees it deflect behind for a corner. Vaz Te is then penalised for a nudge when the ball comes in.
85' N'Zogbia has taken a knock and Yacouba Sylla is on following his arrival on deadline day.
79' GOAL! Aston Villa 2-0 West Ham! N'Zogbia punishes West Ham when he curls home a beautiful free-kick from 25 yards. The wall didn't jump but he judged his curling, dipping effort superbly.
78' Reid goes into the book for a petulant reaction to a free-kick being awarded when Tomkins pushes Bent in the back. Reid slammed the ball into the ground.
76' West Ham throw on Carlton Cole for Mark Noble.
74' GOAL! Aston Villa 1-0 West Ham! Benteke steps up and is cool as you like as he waits for Jaaskelainen to move and then slots the ball the opposite side.
74' Loads of contact - Clattenburg made the right decision. Benteke to take...
74' PENALTY TO VILLA! Mark Noble brings down N'Zogbia with a clumsy challenge!
72' Baker fells Cole with a terrible tackle by the right touchline. No surprise to see his name go in the book.
68' The ineffectual Matt Taylor is replaced by Vaz Te.
67' OFF THE LINE! Sharp reactions from substitute Bent as he sticks out a leg to prevent a goal-bound effort from Carroll sneaking in after the big striker holds off two markers to meet a corner.
65' Benteke spreads the ball left to N'Zogbia and he jinks inside Pogatetz before lashing a fierce effort wide of the far post from 20 yards. That was a good chance.
64' Double change for Villa as Weimann and Bowery are replaced by Darren Bent and Simon Dawkins on for his debut.
63' Demel delivers a cross from the right and Guzan gets to the ball just ahead of Carroll. The ball is punched out to Nolan and he sees his low effort blocked.
55' More fine defending as Clark this time clears from his own six-yard box from Taylor's cross. Guzan is rather unconvincing from the resulting corner as he fumbles. But Villa clear, and when West Ham assault the box once more, Clark makes another excellent clearance with Tomkins ready to tap in behind him.

45+4' HALF TIME. Dreadful stuff, with Weimann missing a huge, huge chance for Villa.
44' Pogatetz pulls back N'Zogbia in full flight and it's no surprise to see the book come out.
39' Vlaar gets free from a corner and he thumps the ball into the turf and up, watching it spin over the bar at the near post. A decent effort that.
37' Lovely work from Ciaran Clark as he makes an important interception to stop Joe Cole from converting from close range for West Ham.
30' Ashley Westwood tries to get a pass away in midfield but referee Mark Clattenburg gets the way, giving West Ham the ball. They work it to Diame, who fires into the side netting from a tight angle.
25' Meanwhile, Demel is indeed on to replace the injured O'Brien.
3' HUGE MISS! Benteke cuts in from the right and drills a weak shot at goal. Jussi Jaaskelainen somehow fumbles the ball though and it pops out for Andreas Weimann, who has to just tuck it away. Incredibly he misses! That is a shocker!
1' KICK OFF! Villa play in their traditional claret and blue, with West Ham in a light blue change kit.

68′ What on earth were Noble and Tomkins thinking of?. You can't do dumb stuff like that in the Premier League and get away with it, especially that close to goal, and Carroll, admittedly great in the air, but with the ball at his feet, next to hopeless. Geez, I can't wait for his loan spell to end. I think the whole team, including Big Sam, need an imagination transplant coz the ones they've got are non-existant. Perhaps Frank Lampard could come back when Chelsea contract expires as he's still scoring more goals than any of our strikers!
The Fat Controllers' post match interview on the Beeb was proof that he doesn't know what he's doing. I watched live on Sky then watched the highlights on MOD - just to reaffirm how bad the Hammers had played!
What do we have to say about this thrashing of West Ham by common Aston Villa. Now who is Sam Allarydce going to blame, referee, Ferguson or Old traford? Results of matches show who a good or bad managers is. All those managers who accuse ferguson do it out of envy. One more thing, how many minutes did they play? 5 good minutes and against Arsenal, 12 minutes, that is not Ferguson time. Stop the hate of Man U and feel good. The more Man U have haters the more they progress.
So Sick what are you on man, we have only been bad really the last 2 seasons, so ok under Houllier we were poor until last few games which pulled us clear, and we actually finished 9th so don't think that was to bad, then the 3 previous seasons we finished 6th 3 times in a row, its only the last 2 seasons we have been bad, sorry mate check your facts but your wrong.
who is going down with QPR and wigan? oh please Newcastle
Benteke is really a very good player Look at the belgians in the PL Kompany, captain of Man City. Vermaelen, captain of Arsenal, Lukaku, one of the best players of West Brom, Vertonghen and Dembele, one of the best players of the Spurs, Hazard, one of the best players of Chelsea, Fellaini and Mirallas, one of the best players of everton. Mignolet(sunderland), one of the best keepers of the PL; Belgium got avery good national team.
By the way, Nzogbia has seemed like a different player these last few games, so i have to ask why he has been abysmal for the last year and a half.
Vital win. Come on villa!! Can i just say that Benteke is a top top player and has rightly being getting a lot of credit, but Guzan deserves a special mention because he has been consistently brilliant all season and deserves to be recognized for the top keeper he is.
so david gold is pleased with the progress that sam has made, am i missing something here, or are we talking about the same team, they are total rubbish, an embarassing bunch of miss hitters , new contract, i wouldent give him his bus fare home.
carrol is useless
good on yer Villa and I am West Ham supporter ... WE ARE PONE
Erm... I don't remember seeing Agbonlahor playing today, much less scoring! Get it right guys!!
FULL TIME. Goals from Benteke and Agbonlahor give Villa a vital win...... Agbonlahor wasn't even in the team line up......Yahoo your pooh!
all right Sam .. WHO KILLED THE ROBIN ?....
FULL TIME. Goals from Benteke and Agbonlahor give Villa a vital win? They cant even get the players who played and scored right
Get F**** act togegther Hammers. Loosing to bunch of no hopers like Villa is S**T.
Now all we have to do is beat either Man C or Arsenal for it to count.
Massive Win for the Real claret & Blue
Great to get 3 points but we conceded from a set piece again. Still need to get a bit of steel in defence.
Two poor sides. Both should be in the Championship!!!
