    • 30' Lowton does well to head clear from the resulting set piece, and Baines cannot pick out a blue shirt in the box.
    • 29' Bennett very clumsily brings down Mirallas on the edge of the Villa box outwide on the right, and that was a poor challenge. Baines will take it...

    • 23' Benteke almost restores Villa's lead as he again gets in beyond Heitinga, but his shot fizzes just wide!
    • 22' It was a very well taken goal from Anichebe, and a fine finish, but Clark should have done better and stopped him from turning so easily.
    • 21' GOAL!! Anichebe levels for Everton! The forward does superbly to hold the bal on the edge of the Villa box before spinning Clark with ease and driving a low shot beyond Guzan and into the far corner of the net! Everton are back on terms, and that was more poor defending.
    • 19' Pienaar lets fly with a dipping effort from range, and Guzan is forced to make a decent save to his left!
    • 18' Jagielka maraudes down the right and whips over a decent cross to the back post, but Osman cannot quite get on the end of it after drifting out to meet it.
    • 17' Agbonlahor is absolutely furious with the referee as he is penalised for tussling with Jagielka. He did seem to do little wrong.
    • 16' STAT: Everton have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 17 league matches against Aston Villa.
    • 15' Gibsons jinks inside a challenge from Bennett and blasts a shot wide, but Everton are looking dominant all of a sudden.
    • 14' The free kick from Baines sails high over the bar as he fails to get the dip required, and that doesn't trouble Guzan.
    • 13' Baines is in the thick of the play at both ends of the field, and he stands over another set piece now as Vlaar fouls Anichebe 25 yards out.
    • 12' Anichebe looks bright early on for Everton, and he charges down the right and gets in a cross for no one on this occasion.
    • 11' Everton are enjoying a very good spell of possession now with Villa pinned back inside their own half.
    • 10' The Toffees holding on to the ball more now as they push up down the middle through Pienaar and Darren Gibson, who is making his first start since Boxing Day.
    • 9' Distin and others pile into the box for a Baines free kick out on the left, but the defender overhits the delivery and it runs straight out of play.
    • 8' STAT: Everton’s win at Villa Park earlier this season ended a run of 12 Premier League games against the midlands’ side without a win for the Toffees (D8 L4).
    • 7' Guzan is really struggling with the sun in his eyes, and it's a surprise that he doesn't have a cap on. He has twice struggled with high balls in his box because of the sun.
    • 6' Everton are coming back into now with some good possession down the left through Baines and Pienaar.
    • 5' The pitch looks very poor indeed at Goodison, and the hosts have not made a good start at all.
    • 4' Fellaini very nearly restores parity for Everton as he skips past Ron Vlaar and slides a precise shot agonisingly wide of the far post with Brad Guzan at full stretch!
    • 3' What a start to the match from Villa, and Benteke kept his cool there with a very impressive finish. Heitinga had to do better, though.
    • 2' GOAL!! Christian Benteke puts Villa in front in just the second minute! It's a very composed finish from the front man as he beats Heitinga far too comfortably after receiving a pass from Weimann with his back to goal - he just slides the ball under Tim Howard!
    • 1' The match is under way! Everton keep the ball at the back very comfortably from the outset.
    • 14:55 Okay, we're all set for kick off at Goodison, and this is how the satchel swingers price the match - Aston Villa are rated at 15/2 to win, while it is 15/4 to end in a draw.
    • 14:50 Villa are level on points with both Wigan and Reading, lying in 19th place in the table. Southampton are three points better off in 16th, with Newcastle four off in 15th. Are you backing Villa to stay up this season, or will this be the year that they go down?
    • 14:45 The Toffees find themselves in fifth place on 41 points and will move into the fourth and final UEFA Champions League place with a win, coupled with a Tottenham loss or draw. For Villa, one win in their last 10 league games represents their worst run of the season and Lambert will be desperate for a win on Merseyside.
    • 14:40 David Moyes is already out on the touchline with a few members of his backroom staff, and he will be very confident of a win today against Paul Lambert's struggling side. /// @REALjamesterry says "Thank God no Bannan", and that is repeated by several others. What do others make of the two sides picked today? Get in touch...

  8. We blow a lead yet again, what can I say? A win is too much to ask for these days, especially when we're two goals up. According to the commentator we are supposed to be happy with this result. Really? I've never seen Villa ship in so many late goals (majority from set pieces) in one season in my life. The only comforting thought that I can take on now is that we have Benteke, who is absolute class. Our survival hopes are dim, but guess what fellow Villa fans, if we go down we won't be playing them rotten bluenoses, they are going down to League One.
