Liverpool claimed a valuable 1-0 win over struggling Southampton in their Premier League clash at Anfield. More
90+3' The full-time whistle goes at Anfield, and Liverpool have claimed a very valuable three points with a 1-0 victory over Southampton. Daniel Agger's 43rd-minute header has proved enough for Brendan Rodgers's side, with the only downside being the yellow card for a handball by Luis Suarez which rules him out of the match with West Ham. Thanks for joining us.
90+1' What a chance for Suarez! The forward is put through with just the keeper to beat, but he slides his shot wide in very tame fashion - what a miss!
86' Lucas's return comes to an end as he is replaced by Jamie Carragher.
79' The booking means that Suarez will now miss the trip to West Ham.
78' Suarez is booked for a blatant handball as Gerrard roars through and plays the ball back into his path, and that was a poor reaction from the forward.
76' Puncheon comes off as Jay Rodriguez is introduced for Southampton.
70' Southampton also make a change as Jack Cork is taken off, and Steven Davis is introduced.
68' It is actually Joe Allen who makes way as Jordan Henderson comes on as a sub.
66' What a chance! Enrique makes a lung-busting run from the left flank, and he plays a slick one-two with Suarez before driving a low shot agonisingly wide of the far post!
46' The second half is under way at Anfield, and neither manager deems it necessary to make a change.
45+1' The half-time whistle goes at Anfield, and Daniel Agger's header in the 43rd minute separates the sides. Liverpool deserve their lead, and Southampton will have to improve markedly in the second half if they are to haul themselves back into the match.
43' GOAL! Liverpool take a deserved lead as Johnson dinks over a fine delivery from the right byline, and Agger stoops to head into the top corner of the net with Gazzaniga left helpless! Liverpool deserve their lead, and it's been coming.
41' What a free kick from Suarez, who is denied by the crossbar as he beats Gazzaniga with a very fine strike from 25 yards!
35' Shelvey unleashes a blistering drive from the edge of the Southampton box, and his effort rattles against the crossbar with Gazzaniga comprehensively beaten!
19' Gerrard comes close for Liverpool as he meets Johnson's cut-back with a powerful shot, and Luke Shaw does very well to block the ball away at the near post with Gazzaniga struggling to get across to it!
9' It's a real chance for Glen Johnson as he ghosts in at the front post, but can only glance his shot wide from close range after meeting a fine ball from Suarez!
1' We're under way at Anfield, and Southampton, all in white, enjoy some good early possession in their own half.

HAND OF NOB. This not the first time in his career Suarez has attempted a cynical handball. He's a DISGRACE to our club.
I like the look of Lambert, maybe he deserves a few seasons in the prem
FowlerLegend; you are a disgrace to be using his name with your defeatist atitude, go and watch tennis
A great game I thought, Liverpool very exciting to watch but we all know that a proven striker playing alongside Suarez would make Liverpool very affective. Postive points; Lucas nearly fit, Enrique persists in turning into this player with confidence, I saw a few great first touches from him, A great back four, Agger & Skrtel are top drawer, You can't fault Shelvey [The Ogre], for his enthusiasm, his confidence is coming. Negative points; Reina still looks a little nervous at set pieces, Allen still can't tackle but is getting better, Sterling needs to learn what to do with it in the final few yards, 2 cases of dithering yesterday, but he's getting there and maybe he's playing up front on his own against West Ham...
For the love of Liverpool, why is Joe Allen and the likes of Henderson and Downing still featured? Joe Allen is hopeless in midfield, letting go the ball so easily almost ALL the time. Henderson you're neither 'here' or 'there' - if you;re going after the ball, lad, by all means - you hesitate like a pregnant pig! Make yourself useful, claim dominance in your zones. No point having 10 Liverpool players in a zone without opponents, is there? Really? Joe Allen? He has not contributed much so far. It is only hindering better players like Suso and Sahin from playing. José Enrique is better off on the left wing back instead of a full left back. Apart from that, not much to be done apart from battling on forward to meet the crossed and convert those glaring chances to goals. But really, please don't play Joe Allen. No impact.
It's a pity suarez is banned for the west ham game and we now don't have any decent strikers to replace him for the game. Fowler back to Liverpool anyone?.He still plays you know
what a relief - 3 points on the board - need to now win the next few games and slowly climb up that table.
Ok lets look at solutions - how do we tackle a very confident West Ham with no strikers? Any ideas?
FowlerLegend overweight 45 year old manc = fact.
I really do detest our wastefulness in front of goal - no composure, no thinking, no calm - everybody seems to panic when there is time to think and the shot is not instinctive.
YES GET IN COME ON YOU REDS
vfhjnmhjh
Suarez is absolutely hopeless with one on ones - he misses them all - he is simply not a clinical striker
Sterling you ditherer
Come on guys , hold on this is not time to be weak , push that ball and take it right to the opponents , you can do it , come on guys,
Suarez misses the game at West Ham. We'll lose this for sure.
