    • 46' Off we go then in the second half with Liverpool getting the ball rolling.
    • 45+1' There goes the whistle for the break. 0-0. A pretty disappointing half of football, it must be said.

    • 43' Johnson drives an effort wide of goal from distance as another home attack falls apart.
    • 42' Liverpool lead 8-0 in the shots on goal, but haven't looked particularly comfortable in finishing what has come their way.
    • 41' Can make out a few cheers from the Albion fans in the crowd. 0-0 at the break won't be too bad for them.
    • 40' Reid booked for a crunching late tackle on Suarez. Poor, poor tackle.
    • 39' Reid almost knocks the ball into his own net from the Shelvey cutback. So fortunate to avoid an own goal there.
    • 38' This game yet to truly come to life. Plenty of huffing and puffing, but neither side playing at the peak of their powers. Which suits West Brom more than Liverpool.
    • 37' Chance for Suarez from distance, but the finish leaves a lot to be desired as he thumps a shot well over the bar.
    • 36' McAuley deemed to be fouling in the heart of the Liverpool area. Looking a bit puzzled about that decision against him.

    • 34' Dorrans wastes the chance to apply some pressure when he lifts a cross straight out of play. Poor, poor delivery really.
    • 33' Johnson forced to head the ball behind his own goal under pressure from Brunt. West Brom have the corner here - only their second of the game.
    • 32' West Brom have scored 10 goals from headers this Premier League season. Only Man Utd have more - 13 goals. Liverpool have six.
    • 31' Olsson with a timely tackle on Suarez but he loses Agger seconds later. Somehow Agger manages to head wide when it looked easier to score.
    • 30' Strong header out by Olsson from Downing's corner. Carragher then using all his experience to head out the danger racing back.
    • 29' And right on cue. Downing earns another corner after another piece of probing play.
    • 28' Liverpool with almost 60 percent of possession. Downing finding some real joy whenever he ventures up the park. Ridgewell doesn't seem to have the legs.
    • 27' Yacob deemed to be guilty of a late one on Suarez. West Brom continue to be pressed back for most of this half.
    • 26' Another West Brom attack collapses with Ridgewell on the move before Morrison fails to keep the ball in play under pressure from Carragher.
    • 25' Long cutting an isolated figure as Downing thumps a shot at goal from 25 yards. Foster does enough to make the stop. Grabs the loose ball at the second attempt.
    • 24' West Brom struggling to get out here. Olsson guilty of losing Agger at that corner. Needs to be tighter marking than that.
    • 23' Agger with the header at goal from Downing's corner, but Foster swipes the ball over the bar. Brilliant goalkeeping.
    • 22' Enrique and Long colliding going for a loose ball before McAuley rises to head out the Downing cross. Liverpool have a corner.
    • 21' Olsson guilty of a bit of pushing in the home box from a corner. And Liverpool will have their free-kick in their own area.
    • 20' Olsson takes no chances as he empties the ball into the stands rather than knock it back to Foster. Liverpool pressing with Henderson to the fore.
    • 19' Clever, clever play by Suarez to get the ball across goal when a goalkick to West Brom seemed likely. Once again, West Brom do enough to clear after Agger had missed Downing's deep corner.
    • 18' Downing with more bright play to cut inside off the right wing. Shot is deflected wide and Liverpool have a corner here.
    • 17' Liverpool are the only club who have not won a Premier League match against a current top 10 team this season. Liverpool's seven points in 13 matches against top half clubs are second worst behind Wigan's six.
    • 16' Nice run and cross by Downing. Gerrard also involved, but West Brom manage to clear the danger. Decent piece of movement by Liverpool.
    • 15' Game just going through another lull here as Liverpool continue trying to playing this expansive game to keep the ball.
    • 14' 122 - Luis Suarez has had 283 touches in the opposition penalty area in the Premier League this season, 122 more than any other player - Robin van Persie, 161.
    • 13' Downing the latest figure to be caught offside. Sturridge forced to watch the action from the stands at Anfield this evening. Frustration for him.
    • 12' Liverpool looking sharp to retain the ball in tight spaces with Mulumbu pressing the ball hard.
    • 11' Gerrard decides to unload a shot from 25 yards out. Ball flies wide of the target. Much more like it from the Liverpool captain.
    • 10' Carragher showing his class with a fine clearing header under pressure from Dorrans. All a bit quiet in Anfield so far.
    • 9' West Brom have lost their last three Premier League away matches – their longest away losing run in two years since a five-match streak from December 20101 to February 2011.
    • 8' Shelvey nets for Liverpool after Foster failed to hold Johnson's volley, but the flag was up. Correct call, but poor goalkeeping by the West Brom keeper.
    • 7' Suarez caught inches offside, but there were a few more bodies offside alongside him. Good line held by West Brom.
    • 6' Mulumbu looks to pick out Long, who is just offside. And on we go here. Liverpool trying to get their range of passing going.
    • 5' Lucas guilty of bringing down Mulumbu, but Brunt's free-kick is headed clear by the red shirts. Bit of a sluggish start from both sides.
    • 4' Ball breaks to Suarez on the edge of the box, but the volley flies wide. Lovely pass from Gerrard in the midfield area.
    • 3' Reina out to collect a cross early on from Ridgewell after he dashed forward. Decent cross and excellent handling.
    • 2' Liverpool have kept seven Premier League home clean sheets this season – more than any other club in the division and two more than they had in the whole last season at Anfield - five. Steve Clarke scribbling down a few notes early on. Dorrans on the deck needing some treatment.
    • 1' And off we go. West Brom trying to get on the move early on.
    • 19:57 Teams out on the pitch, and we are almost ready to go here. West Brom will get the action off and running here. They know a win here would carry them above Liverpool.
    • 19:55 Jamie Carragher announced his retirement at the end of the season. He will play his 497th Premier League match, equal to Paul Scholes in eighth place of the all-time appearance-makers in the Premier League. Ryan Giggs leads with 611.
    • 19:50 Today Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation on 28 February. He was elected Pope on 19 April 2005, one month before Liverpool won the Champions League. Liverpool were ranked sixth in the Premier League on that day, WBA 17th.
    • 19:45 Brendan Rodgers on central defender Jamie Carragher, who will retire at the end of the season. "You see a lot of rash defending nowadays but he defends with great intelligence, he knows when to mark a man and when to mark space and understands the basic principles of defending. He is an outstanding leader and organiser in the team and to find someone with all those capabilities and has the heart the size of a lion is difficult."
    • 19:40 Steve Clarke: "Things have happened that haven’t been good for the club, but it’s important we don’t lose sight of where we are. We’re sitting with a good points total. “We are still in the mix and if we can pick up a couple of wins in the next three or four games we can start looking up the table and getting back to the position we were in earlier in the season and where we deserved to be.”
    • 19:35 Liverpool are likely to deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation after their rousing 2-2 draw at Manchester City last weekend with West Brom set to go with a similar looking arrangement as they support Shane Long on the counter attack.
    • 19:30 Former Liverpool assistant manager Steve Clarke makes two changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Tottenham eight days ago. DR Congo midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is preferred to Romelu Lukaku while Liam Ridgewell replaces the suspended Goran Popov at left-back. Peter Odemwingie remains frozen out of Clarke's squad. He was left out against Spurs after the collapse of his transfer deadline day move to QPR.
    • 19:25 Philippe Coutinho starts on the bench for Liverpool with Jonjo Shelvey replacing the injured Daniel Sturridge for the home side. Winger Raheem Sterling, who also withdrew from international duty last midweek, is fit but joins new arrival Coutinho in starting the match with a watching brief from the technical area.
    • 19:20 Teams: Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Suarez, Shelvey, Downing..subs: Jones, Wisdom, Skrtel, Allen, Borini, Sterling, Coutinho////West Bromwich Albion: Foster; Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell; Mulumbu, Yacob; Dorrans, Morrison, Brunt; Long..subs: Myhill, Lukaku, Fortune, Jones, Rosenberg, Tamas, Thomas.

  6. so much rubbish on here... Look at facts I sound like rafa... Lucas is too slow and slows the game down Henderson worked hard and played ok out of position downing did ok Johnson was appalling enrice thought he was playing for Newcastle so kept passing to black and white shirts agga cannot defend saurez is greedy and doesn't pass and dived for the pen. The Rodgers doesn't believe in the striker he bought borini so didn't play him and changes the structure of the team which had been playing well. The team should have been one change Borini for sturridge same formation as previously and even when he made subs he took of Henderson the only one with any energy in midfield. As for the ability to shoot and hit the target laughable

  8. A bad result after a good run of games and the hatchets are out in force, whos going to take over? Rafa? anyone who thinks liverpool are going to get CL this season is in dreamland, Rodgers is trying to rebuild get out of his way and he might just be able to after the flops Kenny blew all the shopping money on.

    From B, on Tue 12 Feb 10:09
  9. Having seen how the owners of Liverpool measured Kenny Dalglish and Steve Clarke's failure last season how are they going to measure Bodgers success having been beaten by the former assistant managers new team twice that's one hell of a message to the Liverpool owners. Certainly a case of "if it isn't broke don't fix it so it is" Liverpool's problem is they are not playing to win the ball is played the wrong way too many times I think Reina had the ball more than Foster did. While Bodger's wants Liverpool to play passing football this should not come at the price of not being able to put the ball in the oppositions goal, if he's around next season he'll have a few less games to sort things out as european football won't be on the fixture list and being only 13 points above the relegation zone could it be championship football next season

From GEORGE, on Tue 12 Feb 9:24
  10. woke up this morning after a wonderful dream----it was about the sacking of RODGERS and all the other team of driftwood getting fired. Sad, Sad, it was only a dream, but you live in hopes.

From Wilf, on Tue 12 Feb 9:22
  11. I don't think Rodgers has the nous to vary the team. He's young for a L'pool manager and this is not the time to experiment. Run rings round the top teams and lose to the lower. A failing of this side for seasons past. Please give us a Shanks.

From Henry Mayers, on Tue 12 Feb 8:52
  12. I think BR was misquoted before the game, he didn't say we can still get fourth, he said we can still get fourteenth. Fourteenth might be a bit beyond Liverpool but it never hurts to aim higher than your capabilities.

  15. Seddik: Come back stronger from defeats like rhis one? I hope you Jest, you have been saying this for 5 years and more, Liverpool are a VERY AVERAGE team and 5 or 6 players short of being in a position to reach a top four place. Looking at the game as an outsider there are many players just TURNING up, no passion, no pride and certainly no commitment to LFC, just turn up and draw their inflated salaries then off the the golf course or bookies.

From Sam, on Tue 12 Feb 3:03
  16. LIVERPOOL REALLY SUCKS !!!

  17. I funking hate it when I avoid any reports on the game, rush home ,make a cup of tea then sit down to watch a great game of footy.Instead i have to suffer through a pile of #$%$.I love LFC but I think I could play better than Enrique or Johnson did ....send 'em all home for a rest till the start of nxt season.AND AS FOR BORINI...does heeven know where the goal is..!!!!!
