A defensive masterclass from West Ham denied Liverpool victory in a well-contested Premier League clash at Anfield. More
90+5 There's the whistle - West Ham still haven't won at Anfield since 1964 but that is a very good point.
90+2 Gerrard lofts a ball wide to Suarez, who brings it down and drives a low shot at the near post but Jaaskelainen bats it behind for a corner!
86' GREAT SAVE REINA! Collison with the power header yet somehow Reina claws it off the line! CORRECTION - not a Reina save but off the line by Lucas!!
85' O'Brien is booked for timewasting at a throw.
84' WEST HAM SUB: Pogatetz comes on for Tomkins.
83' INCHES WIDE BY AGGER! Another deflection, so a corner. Fantastic low drive.
82' Tomkins is back on his feet but can barely limp off. West Ham have a throw deep on their right as Pogatetz strips off.
77' Liverpool on the attack again as Sturridge hits a low shot at Jaaskelainen following good build-up play from Gerrard.
76' Collison on he right, he picks out Jarvis who decides not to cross but to slide it to an unmarked Taylor, whose low shot is blocked. Dangerous break West Ham!
71' LIVERPOOL SUB: Henderson off for Assaidi, a more direct wide option.
70' Gerrard goes down under a challenge from Tomkins, a corner is the decision but it looked a clumsy challenge! He did get the ball with his other leg though so I suppose it's a good call!
68' Gerrard finds Coutinho on the left, he takes on Demel and fires a superb drive across goal but it takes a deflection to fly just wide! What an effort! Corner.
65' Gerrard and Henderson combine, now Johnson but his cross is cleared. Now a clear handball by Suarez on the edge of the box, the ball drops to Gerrard whose cross is poked home by Sturridge! No goal, flag up for offside, which spares the ref some blushes as he missed a clear handball!
64' Tomkins goes down in the Liverpool box but no penalty! He's still down as Liverpool break, Coutinho releasing Suarez who wins a corner. No, offside. Enrique did seem to kick Tomkins! Should have been a penalty!
63' WEST HAM DOUBLE SUB: Nolan and Vaz Te off for Collison and Matty Taylor.
60' ACROSS THE FACE OF GOAL AND INCHES WIDE BY SUAREZ! Superb effort from an impossible angle on the right wing, so quick and through the legs of Jaaskelainen and shaving the far post.
56' OFF THE LINE BY TOMKINS! How did Liverpool not score? First Suarez has an effort blocked - it was one of those backheeled crosses he likes - and Gerrard arrived to beat Jaaskelainen with a drive but the defender was there to beat it away!
55' Great run by Jarvis to leave Carragher for dead but Agger with a superb interception! Cole was there!
52' SHOULD HAVE BEEN 1-0! Gerrard rolls back the years with a surging run down the right but somehow Suarez fails to convert his low cross! Demel with the interception! Corner.
50' Agger picks the ball up some way out, he hammers a trademark left-footer towards goal but Collins blocks. Liverpool claim handball but that was never a penalty.
46' The second half is underway!

45+2 Not sure what West Ham are complaining about - looked a clear corner to me! - but it's goalless at the break anyway.
45+1 Corner Liverpool that Tomkins protests. Jaaskelainen flaps wildly at it, Sturridge on the right has a dig but the keeper recovers to save! The second cross almost loops in but Jaaskelainen gets a hand on it and, as Demel hacks away for another corner, the ref blows for half-time!
39' Liverpool counter, Gerrard in to Coutinho, he picks out Sturridge who can shoot but miscontrols! He manages to squeeze it out to Gerrard on the right, whose low cross is blocked for a corner.
32' Mix-up in the Liverpool defence and Cole is in but Agger flings himself at the rasping half-volley! Miraculous block, he came from nowhere!!
27' Sturridge leads a counter with his first touch, although his second takes it wide of Suarez. The Uruguayan keeps it in and plays a one-two off a Coutinho backheel before driving a low finish that Jaaskelainen saves! Great football from the South American duo!
26' LIVERPOOL SUB: Downing is not all right to continue and Sturridge, surprisingly dropped, makes his entrance.
25' O'Neil takes the corner, half cleared by Carragher but O'Neil has it back on the right. He feeds Diame, who dribbles from the corner flag towards the edge of the box, bursts past Gerrard and Downing and blasts a rising drive inches over! What a run from Diame!
21' Downing is limping about a touch, and Sturridge is warming up.
17' Johnson gets around O'Brien and there appears to be a trip but Johnson goes down in installments and the ref decides it wasn't a foul! Just outside the box, looked like a wild lunge from O'Brien but not sure if there was contact!
15' Downing runs at O'Brien, good skill as he cuts it back, Henderson gets hold of the loose ball and returns it to Downing but West Ham scramble it clear!
11' Good tackle by Demel on Suarez as West Ham are forced to resist some early Reds pressure. Collins had earlier blocked a Suarez shot, the home fans claiming handball but nothing doing.
7' Liverpool with a lot of possession but so far West Ham have narrowed the game well. Coutinho finds some space on the edge of the box though, but his low shot is well held by Jaaskelainen.
4' Gerrard with a super through-ball but Coutinho is just offside, half a yard.
1' The first half is underway!

63′ The douchebags on this site need to think before they write. From what I see, Liverpool played excellent football but West Ham parked the bus, and produced a "defensive masterclass". This does not mean we are bad, or that BR is bad. It simply means that we need to carry on giving 110% and improve. Yes, unlike most fans, I can admit that although we are going in the right direction, there is still much to do.
You aint that good by a long chalk ever saints found that out ha ha
123.Horrific result for Anfield, especially when Spurs and Everton lose 2 points. How are we supposed to make back to champions league let alone chance to win epl. YOU NEVER WILL WATCH THE HISTORY CHANNEL
Horrific result for Anfield, especially when Spurs and Everton lose 2 points. How are we supposed to make back to champions league let alone chance to win epl.
We all need Brendan Rodgers to reconfirm his earlier statement that Liverpool's target was Champion's League. And may he also tell us which Champion's League he meant at the time.? I have said it now for the past three years and got it right every time and I am going to say it now even if this season still has over a month left to go that I can't see how Liverpool will make any progress next season, first, if they rely on the same crop of players and secondly, if they don't buy the right type of players during the summer and thirdly if they fail to get rid of all the dead wood and replace them with at least players that are capable of coming in for any first team player in cases of injuries, suspensions etc; and finally, the manager needs to do less talking and bragging and concentrate solely on how to get Liverpool out of the deep hole it has been for the past few years. Expecting a different result next season with these same players will be tantamount to madness. Let me put it in a plain language even if I anger my fellow supporters in the process that Liverpool are several years away from becoming a top four club and it will be a while before we will be seen in the Champions League. Yes, you have every right to disagree with me but I will ask you to study Liverpool history over the past 5 years at least and you will see why I have little or no hope for LFC next season.
anyways evra is a #$%$.cck and henderson to go play for manure
get henderson and brenden rodgers out take downing with u as well
Skrtel was probably Looserpools man of the match today (& he was on the bench 'til about 4.30 )
On this showing the Anfield yanks will hopefully give Rogders a new 5 year contract £80m to waste , er - spend on some foriegn soccerball players, from some of those Your-rope Soccerball teams (is that near France? ) Going backwards. 4th place !! 4th bottom more like .........

Dippers still behind the mighty Everton 3 points and they got game in hand.
Todays phallic few who made stupid, immature and general idiotis comments are; no-one-is-no-one, windswept, Peter, NEIL, Ne, david, John, Anthony, Victor Meldew lol, David & MikeT.
Men of the match were Collins and Jääskeläinen, without them it would have been at least 4-0 to us...
If Everton had beaten Spurs- like Liverpool did- they could have been two points farther away from LFC. We ran into a parked bus today. But the red machine is coming. Even in our worst season, we'll finish above them.
It felt like a defeat.
