    • 88' Yaya Toure feeds the ball to Kolarov, who fires a cross miles over the bar and out of play.

    • 86' City back in possession as they have spent the entire second period. The home fans slowly begin to depart the stadium.
    • 85' Villa can't wait to get off this park here as Tevez almost connects with Kolarov's cross. A real rout.
    • 84' Maicon picks out Sinclair with a ball into the area. Just over the bar. Superb stuff again from Maicon.
    • 83' Holman thumps a shot inches over the bar from Holman's pass. So unfortunate. Really got hold of that effort.
    • 82' Bowery has been thrown on to replace Benteke for these final few moments.
    • 81' Nasri picks out Maicon, but the move breaks down and Villa will have a goalkick.
    • 80' Barry off the park needing treatment before Kompany clears a free-kick from the middle of his area. Benteke then guilty of a handling offence.
    • 79' Barry on the deck here. Bit of blood spewing from his mouth out there.
    • 78' Christian Benteke clashes with Gareth Barry. Seemed to be an accidental elbow in the side of the face. Barry needing some treatment.
    • 77' Chance for the sixth goal, but Guzan makes a fine save to nudge the shot over the bar from Sinclair's shot.
    • 76' Dzeko taking the ball for a run across the park before Yaya Toure whacks the ball straight into the arms of Guzan.
    • 75' Silva is going to depart the scene to be replaced by Scott Sinclair.
    • 74' Plenty of time here for City to add a few more goals. Certainly wouldn't bet against it. Villa utterly deflated.
    • 73' GOAL! Nasri cuts the ball across goal for Tevez to net his side's fifth goal of the day. A 5-0 lead now for City.
    • 72' Kolarov takes over from Clichy for the home side.
    • 71' City spreading the ball from flank to flank. In no rush to go anywhere with it. Maicon flicks the ball over the bar. This game well and truly finished.
    • 70' Christian Benteke sees a shot come back off a blue shirt. Villa's attacks few and far between here.
    • 69' Maicon trying to pick out Dzeko at the back post, but just overcooks the attempted cross. Villa looking utterly demoralised.
    • 68' Sergio Aguero scored his sixth ever Premier League double for Manchester City. His only previous hat trick came in their 3-0 home win against Wigan in September 2010.
    • 67' Aguero given a standing ovation as he departs to be replaced by Edin Dzeko for the home team.
    • 66' GOAL! Aguero drives the ball through Guzan at the near post. Suddenly the floodgates have opened. Not sure what the goalkeeper was doing. Think it was a deflection. A 4-0 lead now.
    • 65' GOAL! Tevez sends Guzan the wrong way from the spot and City lead 3-0. Two bad calls by the assistant referee has buried Villa alive in this match.
    • 64' ANOTHER PENALTY TO CITY! The same linesman has awarded a penalty for a handball against Barry Bannan handling on the deck. That looked to be a poor decision too.
    • 63' Silva picks out Augero in the middle, but he can't finish the cross. Christian Benteke back to win the ball in the air from Silva's corner.
    • 62' Weimann furious as he is replaced by Brett Holman. He is furious about that decision. And probably with some justice. Was a hopeless call.
    • 61' Ireland departs to be replaced by Albrighton for Villa.
    • 60' Aguero gives Vlaar the slip, but Villa clear the cross. Going to be a change coming here for the visiting side.
    • 59' Christian Benteke tries to win the ball from Clichy, but City will have the throw-in.
    • 58' Sergio Aguero scored his 25th Premier League home goal for the club. The only player with more is Carlos Tevez (34).
    • 57' Vlaar rolls the ball to Guzan in the Villa goal. City heading back to the top of the Premier League as we stand in this contest.
    • 56' Weimann knocks a shot wide from distance. He was the man who the assistant referee felt had handled it. Replays don't suggest it was a handball.
    • 55' Long, long way back now for Villa against the Premier League champions. That goal may well have buried their hopes for the day.
    • 54' It has been given as a handball that was never a handball. Shocking decision. Aguero slips the penalty low to the left of Guzan. Bad blunder by the linesman and the referee.
    • 53' Vlaar back in the middle of the box to clear the corner from Silva's corner, but a linesman has awarded a penalty to City.
    • 52' Vlaar with a vital tackle on Aguero as he prepared to pull the trigger. Superb little pass from Silva.
    • 51' Tevez goes for goal. Really got hold of that shot, but the ball fizzes wide of the target.
    • 50' Maicon drives the ball against Bannan as City earn another throw-in here deep in Villa territory.
    • 49' Bannan forced to track back to win the ball from Maicon, who is certainly moving well today. Looking to add some bite to these City attacks.
    • 48' David Silva scored his first Premier League goal since April 11. The club have won each of the last eight Premier League matches in which he has found the net. Doesn't make good reading for Villa.
    • 47' Maicon dinks the ball into the middle, but Vlaar is well positioned to head clear. City right back on the attack at the outset of this second period.
    • 46' We are off and running in this second period with City holding this 1-0 lead.
    • 45' There goes the whistle for the break! A 1-0 lead for City at half-time.
    • 44' Tevez sets up Silva, whose shot is blocked by Guzan. Solid piece of goalkeeping. We are into one minute of time added on.
    • 43' The home fans happy enough then to see that ball hit the back of the net. Will that break the Villa resistance? Visiting manager Paul Lambert trying to rouse his troops after losing that goal.
    • 42' GOAL! Silva tucks a loose ball home from two yards out after an almighty scramble in the Villa box. Not the prettiest goal, but City will take it. They lead 1-0.
    • 41' Tevez sees a shot deflect into the side netting. Neat piece of play by him. Think Guzan got a hand to that ball.
    • 40' Agbonlahor trying to give Kompany the slip before Maicon helps out his defence to make sure Benteke can't cause any havoc.
    • 39' Villa lettng City play in front of them as Nasri sees a pass fly out of the net. Mancini decides to write down a few notes.
    • 38' Tevez tries to give Clark and Stevens the slip. Shot saved by Guzan, but the offside flag had already been raised.
    • 37' An offside flag goes up against Benteke after Kompany had stuck his head on Bannan's delivery.
    • 36' Yaya Toure takes out Ireland with a cynical challenge. Fortunate to avoid a yellow card for that one.
    • 35' City doing plenty of huffing and puffing, but Villa keeping this plan together well. Working manfully to close down legroom on the edge of their own area.
    • 34' Yaya Toure arrives late to meet Nasri's corner, but Vlaar is marking well to ensure he can't get a free header. A goalkick to Villa as the ball drops wide.
    • 33' Lowton knocks the ball behind his own goal from Clichy's cross. That will be a corner to the home side.
    • 32' Maicon pulls the ball across the face of goal, but can't find Tevez or Aguero. Vlaar well positioned to clear up the danger.
    • 31' Vlaar slides the ball through to Agbonlahor from deep, but his control eludes him. Ball out for a goalkick to the home side.
    • 30' Aguero spins outside of the visiting area, but ends up dinking the ball straight through to Guzan.
    • 29' Clark gets his head on the Maicon cross. Loose ball breaks to Nasri, but his shot is safely in the arms of Guzan.
    • 28' Villa playing a very dangerous game here. Really need to get up the park as City keep coming at them.
    • 27' Toure fancies his chances from distance, but is always leaning back as the shot flies harmlessly over the bar.
    • 26' Silva nudges the ball to Tevez, who can only fire the ball wide of goal. A lack of noise in this stadium today. For some reason.
    • 25' Toure tries to place the shot in the corner, but Vlaar stands tall to make sure that effort can't trouble Guzan.
    • 24' Clichy has rejoined the action. For how long is anybody's guess. Guzan empties a long ball down the park.
    • 23' Ireland back to win the ball from Tevez, but City are quickly onto the second ball. Villa soaking it up before hitting on the break.
    • 22' Agbonlahor unloads a shot at goal from distance. Ball deflects into the arms of Hart.
    • 21' Maicon sweeps in a cross, but headed out by Vlaar. Not the greatest of balls into the middle of the Villa area.
    • 20' Nastasic rises to head over the bar from a corner. Meanwhile, Clichy is off the park needing a spot of treatment.
    • 19' Clichy drives the ball at goal, but Guzan does just enough to keep it out. Solid run up the park by Yaya Toure. City have a corner here.
    • 18' Hart forced to claw out the corner from Bannan. Villa starting to come to life after a sluggish start to the day.
    • 17' Hart with a brilliant stop to keep out the header from Benteke. Brilliant stop and a lovely cross from Stevens.
    • 16' Maicon taken out of the action late by Agbonlahor. Poor challenge. Maicon firmly on the offensive out there today.
    • 15' Silva with the delivery, but far too easy for Guzan as he comes off his line to clasp the ball with some ease.
    • 14' City bound up the park to win their third corner of the afternoon at the other end.
    • 13' Hart forced to save from Kompany after Lowton had thrown over a lovely cross. Offside flag goes up seconds later. Almost an own goal.
    • 12' Nastasic blocks the shot by Benteke after City had broken up the park at some speed. Better from Villa on the counter attack.
    • 11' Not sure how much action Hart is going to see today. This is almost like a training exercise. Attackers against defenders.
    • 10' Nasri slides in Silva. All so easy for City. Maicon then drives the ball into the area, but no takers on hand. Excellent delivery from Maicon.
    • 9' Nasri picks out Aguero in the middle. More frantic stuff from Villa before Bannan does the clearing up work. Solid defending by Clark.
    • 8' Villa just hanging on at the back. Not really going anywhere with it. Have a goalkick that is launched forward by Guzan.
    • 7' City keeping the ball with some ease as you would expect. Villa thump a long ball long down the park.
    • 6' Aguero seemed to be fouling Stevens in the box before Tevez nods over the bar. That would have been an interesting call if that had counted.
    • 5' Lowton cuts out the cross from Aguero. A corner to City. The home side well and truly on the front foot.
    • 4' Looks a lovely November day to stroke the ball around this lush surface. A real bowling green of a pitch for this time of the year. City taking time to introduce each other to the ball.
    • 3' Maicon on the run up a flank with the ball, but Stevens is across quickly to make a timely tackle.
    • 2' Maicon makes only his second Premier League start for Manchester City, after their 1-1 draw at Stoke City on September 15.
    • 1' We are off and running then in this one at the Etihad Stadium.
    • 14:55 Out come the teams. City are looking to leapfrog United at the top before the Red Devils face Norwich later today, while Villa are keen to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom three. They could even be sucked into the relegation zone today if Reading beat Everton and the Villa lose. Table
    • 14:52 A nice sunny day in Manchester - what is left of it - but the pitch is already consigned to shade.
    • 14:50 Paul Lambert: "I've been in the game long enough to know it can be naughty at times and Christian [Benteke], you hardly get two words out of him, let alone a full article. A lot of it has been misconstrued. I think it is naughty what the journalist has done. I am happy to reassure Villa fans that the big guy is more than happy. He's only been in the country a couple of months. He is 21, learning his trade, and whatever happens to him in the future will happen." Benteke: I thought Villa were a London club
    • 14:45 Roberto Mancini: "People have been asking about my mood and if I have been upset. But I had a meeting last week and that was the only reason I didn't come to the press conference ... Mario didn't play (against Spurs) because it was my choice. I have 20 players and if there are some players that don't work well, they don't deserve to play. There were other players that worked better than Mario and they deserve to go on the bench." Platt mask cannot hide Mancini's real thoughts
    • 14:40 No team has prevented Manchester City from scoring in their last 37 Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium. City results and fixtures
    • 14:35 Aston Villa have scored just six goals in their last 14 Premier League away matches.
    • 14:30 Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 35 Premier League home games, a run that started with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa in December 2010. Victory away at Sunderland last time on the road end a run of 13 Premier League away games without a victory for Aston Villa (D5 L8).
    • 14:25 Balotelli has scored six goals in four appearances against Aston Villa in all competitions and four in two in the Premier League - but still he is overlooked. He will not be a happy man. Player profile
    • 14:20 Aston Villa's starting XI is the same as that which went 2-0 up against Manchester United last weekend. They ended up losing 3-2.
    • 14:15 Manchester City make two changes from the team that beat Spurs, with Maicon starting at right-back in place of Pablo Zabaleta and Samir Nasri featuring in midfield - Aleksandar Kolarov drops out for him. Mario Balotelli does not even make the bench, but Joleon Lescott does after a back problem. James Milner (hamstring), Jack Rodwell (hamstring) and Micah Richards (knee) remain absent but left-back Gael Clichy has made it despite a back injury which kept him out of France's match with Italy. Paper Round: Balotelli wants City exit
    • 14:09 TEAMS: Manchester City: Hart, Maicon, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy, Yaya Toure, Barry, Silva, Nasri, Tevez, Aguero. 2. @Peejay Looked like we were heading for a good thumping anyway but.... as I said at 1-0 there is always a chance! Even you gotta admit that. No doubt Man C will be there at top season end ...........Villa need our billionaire to dip into his wallet! or we are gona go down.

  3. @ Chew (57). Firstly, you lost by 5 goals not 1. A bad decision from a linesman did not cost you the game. Secondly, where is your team in the league? Exactly.....!! I have no grudge with Villa, quite the reverse, they've usually played good, attractive football. However, for whatever reason, they are just not playing well enough. 9 points from 12 games (and a goal difference of -12) tells its own story. Good luck to you for the rest of the season but don't kid yourself that you were "robbed" by a dodgy decision.
