Papiss Cisse benefited from a linesman error to score one of the goals of the season as Newcastle overcame Southampton 4-2. More
90+4' All over then! A 4-2 win for Newcastle. Probably flattered the home side, but the three points fall to Newcastle. Thanks for joining us today.
87' Ramirez has picked up a yellow card. Not sure what that was for. Dissent perhaps.
86' Anita is going to take over from Gouffran here for the home side.
82' Debuchy caught offside after setting off too soon. Bit of a late flag by the linesman.
79' Southampton so unfortunate to be 4-2 behind as Rodriguez departs to be replaced by Jason Puncheon for the visitors.
78' GOAL! A Hooiveld own goal gives Newcastle a 4-2 lead. Fox hammers the ball off the Dutch defender and the ball flies back into the net. Surely game, set and match now.
76' Cabaye departs to be replaced by James Perch for the home side. Standing ovation for Cabaye.
73' Sissoko on the run before Yoshida is penalised for a late challenge. Yoshida booked for his failure to make the tackle.
67' GOAL! Cabaye sends the penalty to the right of Boruc as the Poland goalkeeper dived left. Newcastle back in front at 3-2. Very harsh on Fox and Southampton.
66' PENALTY TO NEWCASTLE! Debuchy hits the hand of Fox with a cross and that is a spot-kick to the home side.
64' Looks like Southampton are going to shuffle their pack here with Gaston Ramirez set to replace the former Rangers midfielder Steven Davis. There comes the change.
56' Shaw departs for Saints to be replaced by the Scotland full-back Danny Fox.
55' Gouffran is caught offside. Newcastle have hardly threatened in this second period. Has been all about Southampton's response to trailing at the break.
51' Southampton looking for a third goal. Lallana again with the cross and trickery. Brilliant move, but Lambert nods inches wide.
49' GOAL! Lambert levels for Southampton! His 100th goal in English football. Brilliant finish from 12 yards out. Lovely pass from Lallana.
47' Superb diving save by Elliot to dive to his left and nudge away the swerving free-kick over the wall from Lambert. Brilliant effort.
46' Southampton get the second half off and running then.
45+3' There goes the whistle for the break. Newcastle have recovered strongly. They lead 2-1 at half-time with that wonderful strike by Cisse.
45+1' Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa takes over from Coloccini for Newcastle United. First enforced change of the day for the home side.
43' Lallana caught offside from Lambert's pass. Southampton have lost their way in this match.
41' GOAL! Cisse thumps a volley over Boruc from 25 yards out. Brilliant strike from Elliot's long free-kick down the park and Newcastle lead 2-1. What an effort that is.
39' Shaw into the book for a late challenge this time on Gutiérrez - a second yellow card for Southampton in his first half.
37' Lambert caught offside after setting off too soon. He has faded from the game since the early moments, a symptom of Southampton's lack of chances.
32' GOAL! Sissoko tucks the ball into the net after Gouffran's shot was blocked by Boruc. Bit of good luck to break to the midfielder, but Newcastle get the reward for some incessant attacking play.
24' Jonás Gutiérrez sent tumbling to the deck by Rodriguez, who picks up a booking for that challenge. Poor late tackle by him.
22' Lallana caught offside at the other end. And on we go with Southampton holding this 1-0 lead midway through the first period.
18' Cisse turns in the box, but can only knock the ball wide from Gouffran's pass. Superb play by Sissoko. Bad miss in the end by Cisse with Boruc's goal exposed.
14' Sissoko thumps a shot at goal from 25 yards. Was swerving wide, but Boruc takes no chances as he dives to tip it wide of his goal.
3' GOAL! Schneiderlin turns in the heart of the Newcastle box to hammer Lambert's header down into the net. Lovely ball in by Cork to Lambert and the home side are caught cold.

My mate who is a Toon fan says Southampton should have had a point here !!
monday 25/2/2013. yahoo confirm le toon win 4-2 also reports coming from wearyside that the doctors are dishing out more anti-depressant drugs and sick notes than the usual monday rush.everywhere on wearyside is shut and the backlanes have only the usual mad barking dogs and burnt out sofa's or cooches as the local's call them. all hospitals have been put on alert for wife bashing and self harming cases to rise.
st james park not sports direct areana
I wonder if Adkins would have removed Shaw and relace with Fox. I think not. The POX got it very wrong today
go back t clinging to your trees now you mackems... :) R.I.P Matin O'Neil. lol
What a great managerial decision to bring on fox, gives away a penalty then helps score an own goal.........priceless
the championship awaits .....
LOL im Sitting here in Rio de Janero and we have only played 19 mins, finnaly we get the correct score now i can go and have a few beers, Toon army no the move. i have pressed submit but that might be another two hours time you get to see this.
oh eye ,flattered nrewcastle look at the stats you have at the top of the page, more posession ,more shots on goal, more goals and a contender for goal of the season, who writes this #$%$for yahoo, its all #$%$
No wonder most of my younger friends no longer use Yahoo. The game has finished an hour ago and they are still showing Sothampton winning 1 nil
thought the toon played at st,james park
thought this finished 4 , 2
Whats happening ,seems we are still above the Toon according to Yahoo!!!
Are your pigeons flying from St James's or have they stopped off for lunch in the Bigg Market???. hell even SKY could get the scores on screen quicker than you lot.
What a shame the toon lost 1-0 ,i was fully expecting them to win 4-2 with perhaps a penalty and an own goal rounding off the match at SJP .............................well thats my betting slip torn up and thrown in the bin........
Are you staffed by mackems Yahoo? It would certainly explain the poor service.
It's 5 past 4, the match finished ages ago but according to Yahoo we are still losing 1 nil. Get a grip Yahoo either improve this service or withdraw it altogether. Great result for the Toon. It was important for us to get something today and to move up the table. But why oh why do we not start matches until we have conceded. Both halves saw the Saints score early on. Mr Pardew please take note. The Saints showed enough today to be confident of avoiding the drop. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
No update since 19 min. Can't get the radio com. The scores on the left say 0-1, 2-2 and 4-2. Get your act together please.
I fancy Newcastle to win 4-2! Yahoo to catch up - eventually...?
Get a move on! newcastle beat Southampton 4-2.
