    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this match, along with every Premier League game, from 00:01 on Monday morning (UK only).
    • 90+5' FULL TIME! What a result!
    • 90+4' Nice approach play from City as Lallana tries to prise open the visiting defence. No luck though.
    • 90+3' The Southampton fans are bouncing up and down now - they are confident there won't be any late drama.
    • 90+1' Milner swings in a cross from the left but it drifts out of play as City waste another opening.
    • 90' Zabaleta gets in behind and wins a late corner...
    • 89' Apparently we are going to have five added minutes.
    • 88' Ward-Prowse with a fine challenge on Kolarov to half the City left-back, who looks incredibly frustrated with himself.
    • 86' Boruc comes to punch away from a Maicon cross. He has had a decent game - in fact all the home players have.
    • 85' City really have been so, so poor today. My post-match ratings are going to be fun.
    • 83' Southampton fans are bringing out the 'oles' for every completed pass. Always a risky strategy of course.
    • 82' More last-ditch defending from Southampton as Yoshida gets the ball away. They will have to be at their most alert in what remains of the game.
    • 81' What a fantastic cross from Kolarov on the run, but Dzeko can't get a firm head to the delivery from the left and Southampton survive a scare.
    • 80' A change for Southampton as James Ward-Prowse, the talented young midfielder, replaces Davis.
    • 78' Stat from Infostrada: "City’s last 7 PL defeats have all been by a 1-goal margin. The last occasion they lost by more was in a 3-0 PL defeat at Liverpool in April 2011."
    • 76' Kolarov breaks down the left and fires in a low cross, but a crowd of red shirts converge and help Boruc smother the ball.
    • 74' Maicon comes on and he replaces Silva. A puzzling decision to say the least.
    • 73' Jack Cork gets a sight of goal from 20 yards and balloons a shot high into the air and over.
    • 72' Meanwhile, City are getting Maicon ready.
    • 71' Fox has had to be removed due to a back injury and Frazer Richardson is on in his place.
    • 70' Toure is in Atkinson's book for a kick at Schneiderlin.
    • 69' Aguero feeds in Dzeko and after holding off a challenge he wins a corner. Southampton clear again though when the ball comes in.
    • 67' Manchester City now have no centre-back on the pitch as Lescott has been replaced by Aleksandar Kolarov. The Serb joins Zabaleta and Clichy in a back three, with Garcia pushing forward.
    • 66' Schneiderlin now rifles a shot wide of the upright as City prepare to make a change.
    • 65' Lovely from Jay Rodriguez as he skips around Barry, who has had an awful evening.
    • 64' Incredible to think that by the end of tomorrow, Manchester United could be 12 points clear at the top of the table.
    • 62' Lallana is on and surprisingly it is Puncheon whom he replaces.
    • 61' Oh dear. City have a free-kick and Toure rolls it in short, before it is rolled back into his path. However, his shot is awful as the ball flies high into the air.
    • 59' Southampton are readying Adam Lallana on the sidelines.
    • 58' Stat from Infostrada: "Man City's Gareth Barry scores his 2nd own goal of the season after also netting in the League Cup 4-2 3rd round home defeat v Aston Villa."
    • 56' James Milner replaces the ineffectual Nasri and immediately drives a shot wide of the post.
    • 55' WHAT A SAVE! Barry pops a pass over the top for Aguero and he spins to take his shot early, but Boruc prevents it from sneaking in when throwing out an arm.
    • 54' Two deliveries from Davis put City under more pressure, and now Lescott has to clear from his own six-yard box. City are a complete shambles.
    • 53' Southampton threaten again but Davis can't quite find Puncheon with his pass to the right of the box. Then Lambert fails to get on the end of a cross.
    • 52' Stat from Infostrada: "Southampton are unbeaten in all 5 PL matches when leading at half-time this season – 3 wins and 2 draws. City have won just 1 of their 3 PL matches when losing at half-time this season. They beat Tottenham 2-1 at home on November 11th after being 1-0 down at the interval."
    • 51' Clichy goes into the book for a petulant reaction to being penalised for a foul.
    • 50' hat was a quite stupendously stupid own goal. What on earth was he trying? He wasn't even under that much pressure.
    • 49' GOAL! Southampton 3-1 Manchester City! You will not believe this goal. Lambert puts in a cross from the left and for some reason, Barry passes the ball straight into his own net. An absolute shocker.
    • 48' SAINTS GO CLOSE! Lambert runs in behind Garcia and waits for support. He finds it in Puncheon and lays the ball off, but the midfielder opts for power over accuracy and the ball flies over.
    • 47' Davis gets an early shot away but it takes a touch off a City player and loops up nicely for Hart.
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • - What did you make of the first half? Let me know on Twitter now. Follow Tom Adams (tomEurosport) on Twitter
    • 45+3' HALF TIME. Southampton feel they should have had a penalty but it's a good first half nonetheless for the home side who lead through goals from Puncheon and Davis.
    • 45+2' Rodriguez bursts into the box and Toure barges him over - it looks a clear pen, but Atkinson isn't having any of it.
    • 45+1' Silva gets on the end of a cross from Samir Nasri but his touch has no power behind it and Boruc takes it easily.
    • 45' Schneiderlin gets to the back post to meet a deep, deep cross but his first time effort flies wide of the near post.
    • 44' We are going to have two added minutes in the first half.
    • 42' Southampton have another corner and this time they take a more conventional approach, which concludes with Puncheon driving a shot wide from the edge of the box.
    • 40' Southampton were punished there for trying to be too elaborate from the corner. They got a bit cocky and City made them pay.
    • 39' GOAL! Southampton 2-1 Manchester City! Southampton try to do a Beckham-Scholes from the corner but City intercept before Danny Fox can hit it on the volley and break quickly. Dzeko leads them off and Silva then plays in Zabaleta. His square pass finds Dzeko, who accidentally dinks the ball over Boruc and in when trying to stab it home at the near post.
    • 38' Clyne works a bit of space on the right and his shot careers off a City shirt and behind for a corner.
    • 37' Javi Garcia with an error now as he fails to clear properly. This has been a very poor display from the champions.
    • 36' Stat from Infostrada: "City last came back from two goals down to win a PL match in February 2005 when 2-0 behind at Norwich, they won the match 3-2. "
    • 35' Yaya Toure knocks into the back of Nathaniel Clyne as his frustration gets the better of him.
    • 34' Zabaleta swings in a dangerous cross that for a second looks to be heading inside the post. However, it curls out of play.
    • 33' Rodriguez goes close! City fail to clear when the striker first drives into the box and when the ball is poked back into his path, Rodriguez curls the ball just wide.
    • 32' Morgan Schneiderlin pops a pass into Puncheon and he gets a quick shot away. However, the effort is blocked by a City shirt.
    • 31' City still struggling to muster any kind of threat here. Mancini will have to tear into his players at half-time.
    • 29' Aguero strikes the free-kick but catches the top of the wall.
    • 28' Hooiveld trips Dzeko right on the edge of the box and City have a free-kick in a very dangerous position.
    • 27' Lambert is the first player booked for a pull on Joleon Lescott. It was very blatant.
    • 25' Stat from Infostrada: "Steven Davis scores his second goal for Southampton and his first since scoring in this season’s opener at Man City on August 19th."
    • 24' City have it all to do now, but Southampton don't look as though they will be easing off at all.
    • 23' Hart largely avoids criticism by virtue as his status as his country's number one but he hasn't had a great season, has he?
    • 22' GOAL! Southampton 2-0 Manchester City! It's a clanger from Hart. Lambert cuts inside Clichy and fires in a firm effort that the keeper drops. Steven Davis follows in to tuck the ball away, but dear oh dear, what a gaffe.
    • 21' David Silva has the ball in an advantageous position high on the left but can't find a team-mate with his cross.
    • 19' Stat from Infostrada: "City have gained 16 points from losing positions this season, the 3rd best record in the PL. However, Southampton have dropped the most points from winning positions this season – 24. This includes dropping 5 points in the previous two matches."
    • 18' Danny Fox flings in a deep cross but Gael Clichy is there to head away under pressure from Puncheon.
    • 17' Aguero has looked the most lively for City but that's not difficult.
    • 16' Nice work from Aguero as he holds off Hooiveld and whips in a dangerous loss cross. However, there isn't a single City shirt attacking it.
    • 15' City are lacking any kind of energy at the moment and their performance has been very disappointing.
    • 13' Stat from Opta: "Manchester City have won nine and lost none of their 10 games against teams currently in the bottom eight places in the Premier League table."
    • 12' Lambert gets away from Javi Garcia all too easily following a long ball from the back from Jos Hooiveld but he can't quite get on the end of it.
    • 11' Southampton boss Pochettino has made much of his desire to have his team playing in a more upbeat fashion, with a focus on pressing. It's certainly doing the business today.
    • 10' Stat from Infostrada: "Jason Puncheon scores his second goal in his last five PL apps. Also scored in 2-2 draw at Chelsea on January 16th."
    • 9' Here come City as Aguero gets a shot away from 20 yards. Boruc takes it easily though.
    • 8' What a turn up for the books. Southampton in front - could they get their first win under Pochettino?
    • 7' GOAL! Southampton 1-0 Manchester City! Puncheon puts Southampton in front. The winger robs Barry of possession and plays in Rodriguez, who is denied by Hart. However, the ball rebounds to Puncheon and he slots it away.
    • 6' Rickie Lambert meets a deep cross to the back post with a downwards header but can't pick out a Southampton shirt.
    • 5' Not a particularly thrilling opening to proceedings, it must be said.
    • 4' Jay Rodriguez makes a spurt through the middle as the ball comes in from Jason Puncheon but Joe Hart is off his line quickly to take the ball.
    • 3' Artur Boruc comes to the edge of his box to head away after City plant a ball over the top of the defence.
    • 2' A nervy start from City as Pabo Zabaleta is put under pressure by Jay Rodriguez.
    • 1' KICK OFF! Southampton attacking left to right in their home red kit.
    • 17:30 Out come the teams and it is a nasty evening in Southampton, with the pitch a bit of a state too.

    • 17:20 Martin Atkinson is today's referee. He has only sent-off one player in 28 matches across all competitions this season.
    • 17:15 Manchester City have won nine and lost none of their 10 games against teams currently in the bottom eight places in the Premier League table so should fancy their chances
    • 17:10 Roberto Mancini: "I don't think in these last two years there is a team that has played better than us. Manchester United is a strong team, Chelsea is a strong team but I think in the last two years Manchester City is the team that has played better in the Premier League. We are a strong team. We have been unlucky because we lost two or three players in January for the African Cup."
    • 17:05 Mauricio Pochettino: "I want to point out the great willingness the team has shown, and the willingness to accept the new management. We see the team in a really good light. We've deserved a better reward from out play up to now. The team has showed in the last few weeks that they can beat any team."
    • 17:00 Luke Shaw and Gaston Ramirez are both missing for Southampton with slight knocks. In come Danny Fox and Steven Davis.
    • 16:55 Interesting move from Manchester City as they play Javi Garcia as a makeshift centre-back. Yaya Toure is back in the team after his trip to the African Cup of Nations. Carlos Tevez has been pulled out of the matchday squad for family reasons.
    • 16:50 TEAM NEWS: Southampton: Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Fox, S. Davis, Schneiderlin, Cork, Puncheon, Lambert, Rodriguez. Subs: K. And why didn't the Man ure fans ever say "Of course city lost, they don't spend silly amounts of money on players like United do" And now the boot is on the other foot, old whiskey nose Sir Alex wants financial fair play...lol you are havin a laugh ain't you? 6. Good win but.....Southampton for the League NEVER HAPPEN not the Premier League There is something sadly missing at Manchester City at the moment it seems to me none of the (out field) players are safe and any of them could go the same way as Mario Balotelli then again they new on joining the club only eleven could play and they would need to fight for their places

  20. Just this week, Mancini and his his players were talking about how it will take only two matches lost by United for the title race to be opened again. May be they didn't realize it was not just down to two matches. At 9 points gap, if United need to win 10 matches, City need to win 13 matches to be level. If it becomes 12 points gap, they will need to win 14 matches if United had to win 10.
