Tottenham Hotspur moved up to fourth in the Premier League table after beating Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's in a classic 'game of two halves' contest. More
FT And there is the full-time whistle – Tottenham have moved up to fourth but boy did they make it hard for themselves in the second-half.
90+3 Dawson on for Dempsey.
90+2 The referee comes back to book Livermore after playing advantage.
90' Schneiderlin fires a bullet of a shot from 25 yards out and Sandro gets his HEAD in the way about six yards out. He gets straight back up too – hard as nails stuff.
79' Southampton make two changes – Guly and Ben Reeves are on for Davis and Fox.
78' Sigurdsson on for Defoe – Dempsey will move up front.
75' Vertoghen rightly booked for bringing down Mayuka.
70' Gallas now has to block a Lambert shot from close range after Mayuka's low cross. Breathless.
69' ANOTHER SOUTHAMPTON CHANCE – Rodriguez scuffs his shot wide of the target after Gallas failed to clear a Lambert cross properly.
66' GOAL SOUTHAMPTON!!! Rodriguez has got them right back in it. Fonte with a little backheel at the near post from a low corner from Lallana that is saved by Friedel but Rodriguez is then right there to smash it into the net. Game on!
65' YOSHIDA MISSES A SITTER!!! Fox with a great cross from the free, Freidel comes out and flaps at it and the Japanese defender rushes in and looks set to head it in but it goes off his shoulder and wide.
64' Booking for Sandro for an aggressive tackle on Davis.
63' Tottenham make their first change. Huddlestone off and Livermore comes in on. Straight swap.
61' Rodriguez races onto a cross from Lambert and heads it wide of the target. Not that close but encouraging.
59' First change Mayuka comes on for Puncheon.
54' Another great run from Lennon – he cuts in from the right to a central position then flicks it back out to the right for Walker who fires wide when he really should have done better.
48' Decent volley from Puncheon on the edge of the area goes wide after Vertoghen's defensive header. It goes wide but that is Southampton's FIRST attempt on goal.
46' We are back underway – no changes from either side.
HT A few boos from the home fans but just by a minority – Tottenham lead 2-0 at half-time and that's more than fair. Join us back here for the second-half.
39' GOAL TOTTENHAM!!!! Superb play from Lennon who runs forward and slips in Defoe – Defoe chips it by the keeper and the ball trickles towards the goal…Fonte runs back and just gets to the ball in time but Dempsey is there to then bundle home from two yards. No more than Spurs deserve.
28' Sandro again finds Walker in loads of space down the right and again Walker checks it back to Defoe on the edge of the area. Defoe has left his shooting boots at home again though as he blazes over. Spurs well on top now though.
15' GOAL TOTTENHAM!!! A superb header from Gareth Bale who comes in from the right to meet Huddlestone's cross and guide a header into the other corner of the net. Muted celebration against his former club but he has celebrated the birth of his daughter with a fine goal.
14' Interesting stat from Infostrada: Tottenham are one of two teams (alongside West Ham) yet to concede a headed goal in the PL this season, Southampton have scored five, only Manchester United have scored more (6) this season.
3' TOTTENHAM NEARLY TAKE THE LEAD! Yoshida with a defensive header when he didn't really know where he is…Boruc comes out and can't deal with it and it comes off Lennon and trickles just wide.

78′ We desperately miss Moussa Dembélé and Scott Parker. I was at the Chelsea game last weekend and a certain midfielder was desperately poor in both games, Huddlestone. He wouldn't be in the first 11 if the above mentioned were fit. Sandro played excellent in both games but one man cannot control the middle of the park all by himself. Can't wait to see them both fit and playing together. COYS
debbie you #$%$
A totally false position for Spurs in the League. They play rubbish football and manage to be 4th , if their players actually played as if they cared the sky's the limit. Perhaps they should be paid £250 a week and the rest in bonus and performance benefits.
why the f@ck cant saints play the whole game like they did the second half, stand your ground and close players down quicker and you get out of the s@it your in.oh and sack that useless #$%$ of a manager hes had his chance
Going Down?
This manager has to go
Look, I don't know how to say this but......does the ref stroke himself? He was a bit lively with the cards for one side....
poor old scummer. the only thing they have got to look forward to is the parachute payment !!!!
hard work for spurs as usual
When are Spurs going to play for 90 minutes???
a game of 2 halves again im going greyer every week kill off teams when youse can
bale has been missed
SORRY WRONG PAGE
DE GEA IS A LIABILTY Does he know that he is meant to stay on his feet and save using his hands, not using his feet and fall to the floor at the same time
walker has been poor this season to many mistakes
perhaps they could fine huddleston every time he takes a wild shot from 40 yards out
I do hope Defoe is OK after Lennon slipped into him!! Excellent comments by Yahoo once more:)
We had joy, we had fun, we had scummers on the run......
C'mon Lambert, pleeeeaaaase!
