Martin O'Neill has condemned sick chants directed at Newcastle's Steven Taylor and police are also investigating claims Demba Ba was racially abused on Sunday. More
90+4' There goes the final whistle! Nobody could find the winner in stoppage time. Pardew punches the air towards the travelling fans. Newcastle will be happier with the point.
88' A booking for Cabaye for another late challenge on Rose. Sunderland fortunate to be level, but they will take this all day long.
87' GOAL! An own goal off Ba and Sunderland level late in the game. Would you believe it? O'Shea met the free-kick with his head from Larsson. Hit off Ba. Massive own goal. No chance for Krul who was heading in the other direction.
86' Williamson with a bit of a cynical challenge on Saha. Will take that booking at this stage of the contest.
85' Obertan arrives to replace Ben Arfa for these final five minutes.
84' David Vaughan takes over from Johnson for the home side. Last throw of the dice perhaps? This has been a miserable afternoon for the Blacks Cats.
83' Larsson sees a cross blocked by Simpson. Throws in a corner. Breaks to Saha at the back post, but he somehow manages to knock the ball into the side netting from five yards out.
80' Coloccini is going to depart the action to be replaced by Steven Taylor for the visiting side.
67' Coloccini has collected a booking for a spot of dissent with Sunderland awarded a free-kick 25 yards from goal.
63' Sunderland going to finally shuffle their park as Sessegnon departs to be replaced by Saha.
46' Newcastle get the second half off and running. All to play for in this second period.
45+3' There goes the whistle for the break! Apart from the red card, Newcastle will be happy with how things are going. They lead 1-0.
42' Johnson slides the ball through to Fletcher, but the offside flag is raised. More frustration for the home side.
38' Glorious chance for Ba in the box! Smashed the volley at goal from Coloccini's initial shot. Couldn't get over the ball as it flies over the bar.
36' James Perch takes over from Shola Ameobi. That decision probably coming down to Ameobi being booked already.
22' RED CARD FOR TIOTE! Late tackle on Fletcher. That is a harsh decision.
8' Stephane Sessegnon sees a deflected shot spin into Fletcher's path, but the Scotland striker is narrowly offside.
3' GOAL! Cabaye drives the ball into the corner of the net, and the visiting side are ahead. A 1-0 kead as the ball broke to Cabaye off Mignolet's save from the shot by Ameobi.
1' Sunderland get the match off and running here.

84′ The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go,but not sunderland.
Hope Tiote is proud of himself lost the toon 2 points and denied Shola getting his customary goals against the mackums. He has played 7 games this season and has amassed 5 yellow cards and 1 red. Alan drop him to the reserves and dont recall him unless he can play three games without a card. i he cant by the jan window get rid he is a liabilty.
Cannot believe how many think that was not a red card, even Shearer said it was and I don't think he's biased towards Sunderland! The game was a complete mirror image of the last game so a cannot see how any one can gloat about it.
Ye have to admit ,it was an extremely sportsmanlike gesture from demba ba , puttin the ball in to wa own net like that . Seconds before , hed looked at the misery written all over the home fans faces . Just goes to show, we can be neighbourly and benevolent ,even at wer own expense. Even after Tiote had held oot the hand of friendship and gone for a cuppa to reduce the Newcastle reserve team to ten men ,we were still too much fer Sunderland .
Newcastle did well.. Sunderland and the ref were lousy..
has anyone else heard O`Niel is set to resign, seem after the interview for tv he went away and hinted to a reporter
Sunderland is a joke. Newcastle down a man winning almost the entire game and score for the old #$%$... Well sunderland can only score from pk's own goals and keeper blunders in the tyne wear derby. And, that red card was #$%$.
My oh my, that girl joseph really does post nothing but moans, moans, moans, moans, moans, moans, moans, the poor little scrubber.
153, we arent over the moon at all,we didnt play well and still got a point, yes happy to get a result as you were against our 10 men last season,Oh thats different is it? As for cant give tickets away,31,000 NUFC v Bordeaux says it all !!! Put your hand over your gob !
How do you make out the ref was on SAFC side? Tiote had to go,Cabaye is a dirty sneaky Frog,Williamson body checked Saha, and the other 2 booked for dissent ,sheer arrogance ! Four bookings and a sending off ,no wonder you were top of the disciplinary table last two years !! Shocking ! Guttierez diving about when touched on the arm ! the ref gave NUFC a free kick ! Fact is,NUFC got off to a good start cos McLean slipped for them to score, then it was backs to the wall for you and we couldnt break it down until the 85th min !OK due to an own goal but we were piling the pressure on then ! McLean, Johnson,Sessegnon, were pi55 poor again, Rose was our best player, and I must say Colo was class. Honourable draw !!
I'm very proud of Newcastle! Lets face it Sunderland will never have a better chance to beat us, a ref biased in their favour and NUFC down to 10. Anne x
God we were lucky to atain a point. Ses is way out of the game, and the team looked lost of ideas, saha made it look better after he came on, johnson was showboating
This won't do. What's the matter with you? All it takes is faith and trust. Oh! And something I forgot.
This game was ruined by a one sided ref who favoured Sunderland. He was shocking and ruined what could have been a good game. It was 10 v 12. It Tiote's tackle was a straight red, so was the kick to Shola's chest. Newcastle should also have had a pen due to a handball by one of the Sunderland players, but then we were never going to get anything from this ref.
Katherine, 157,we had 10 men last season and you couldnt stomp all over us !! You should be ashamed of yourselves Ha Ha !!
Sorry make that 4 bookings for Newdirtycastle ! Demba Ba he scores when he wants !!
Well, well, the ,dirty stinkin, divin, cheatin Magpies found out what its like to play with 10 men after the animal was sent off and another 3 booked and once again the Argie divin about like he's been shot !! Once again the hump the ball to Shola and Ba boys get out of jail with a backs to the wall performance !
What a derby. Everyone leaves mildly satisfied. Cabaye's goal was superb. Foul by Tiote was a yellow at best. Ba's own goal was fantastic if you're a Sunderland fan. I'm not. Can't wait for the return match at St. James.
yea!
