    • FT But there is no drama - Inter and Jose Mourinho have to settle for a draw to start the defence of their title, but in truth, Sampdoria were full value for that point.
    • 90' Three extra minutes for either side to find a winner.
    • 88' And then at the other end Ibrahimovic puts a perfect ball into the box for Luis Jimenez, but the Chile international can only flash his header over.
    • 87' Cracking drive from the edge of the area by Palombo and Cesar has to make his best save of the match to keep the sides level.
    • 85' This match seems destined to be a draw at this stage. Standing ovation for Delvecchio as he is replaced by Dessena.
    • 80' Change for Samp Campagnaro off - Lucchini on.
    • 78' Superb cross from Maxwell down the left and a rather nervy chest from Pieri sees the ball out for a corner.
    • 77' Inter doing more attacking now since we have been back level but Samp love to play on the break too.
    • 76' Yellow card for Marius Stankevicius for a late challenge.
    • 72' Inter have brought on Crespo and Jimenez with Figo and Muntari making way.
    • 71' Great chance for Sampdoria to go in front as Delvecchio cuts the Inter defence with a great ball through to Cassano - it looks like the Italian international is clear but he can never get the ball under control and the chance goes.
    • 68' SAMP ARE LEVEL!!! - Stankevicius with a cross to the back post - Maicon gets to the ball ahead of Franceschini but he can't clear it and it falls to Delvecchio just a couple of yards out and he taps in to equalise.
    • 65' Again good play from Cassano down the right but when he cuts the ball back he can't find a blue shirt. Inter then counter with an attack of their own but Muntari's shot is blocked.
    • 64' Mancini's debut comes to an end - he is replaced by 18-year-old Mario Balotelli. Decent debut by the former Roma man - he looks to have an understanding with Ibrahimovic already.
    • 62' Sampdoria appeal for a penalty as they think an Inter hand touches the ball after a corner is whipped in but it is hard to see anything there.
    • 60' Inter with a free-kick 35 yards out. Ibrahimovic tries a shot but it hits the wall - it then falls to Cambiasso in the box but his effort is also blocked quickly.
    • 56' Maicon with a run down the right before chipping a cross into the box - Zlatan gets there first but off balance he can only screw his shot well wide.
    • 54' "It's just like watching Chelsea" - Sampdoria just can't seem to break down this Inter side. And the champions are happy enough to sit on their 1-0 lead. Not pretty to watch but effective if you are a Chelsea...I mean Inter fan.
    • 52' Figo has committed a good few fouls today and one too many in the referee's book. He is booked for a trip on Franceschini but it is probably more persistent fouling.
    • 48' Muntari with one of his trademark shots from distance but Mirante was watching it all the way.
    • 47' A little spell of Samp pressure to start the half gets the crowd into things.
    • 46' And we are back underway in Genoa.
    • 45' And there is the half-time whistle - in typical Mourinho style Inter lead at the break.
    • 44' Sampdoria with a free kick around 30 yards out - Palombo manages to curl it round the wall but not so well that it then curls on target. Cesar looked to have had it covered.
    • 41' Samp continue to have the better of the play but Julio Cesar has still yet to have been forced into a meaningful save.
    • 37' Samp will feel hard done by but how many times have we seen this? A Mourinho team sneaking a 1-0 lead away from home despite not playing well? It has happened far too many times in the past for it to be simply coincidence or luck.
    • 34' Replays suggest that Zlatan might have used part of his hand to control the ball. Meanwhile, Mourinho's reaction to the goal? Well he just sat there with a smug grin on his face.
    • 33' BUT NOW INTER HAVE THE LEAD - superb stuff from Ibrahimovic as he again plays a one two with Mancini this time on the edge of the box, he then guides the ball past his defender Campagnaro and Mirante - a bit of a mis-kick but still a fine goal.
    • 30' Inter starting to get a bit more possession now but again still no chances.
    • 27' A rare Inter attack on the counter as Mancini plays a one-two with Ibrahimovic but then the Brazilian produces a poor low cross that could even clear the first man.
    • 24' And now Cassano tries an effort from distance but again it was hide and wide - but still Mourninho can't be liking what he is seeing here.
    • 22' A short Samp corner is worked back to Franceschini who curls a sort of shot/cross to the back post but it goes over the bar.
    • 20' 20 minutes in and it has to be said that Inter have been second best despite a bright start.
    • 19' Nice turn and shot from Sammarco inside the Inter box - his shot was too straight but Julio Cesar still spilled it before finally gathering the loose ball.
    • 16' The first significant moment of Sulley Muntari's Inter career is a poor challenge on Marius Stankevicius and he gets a yellow card for his troubles.
    • 15' Maxwell storms into the box down the left - he checks back to Ibrahimovic but under pressure the Swede can't get a shot on target.
    • 13' After their bright start Inter are now on the back foot - Sampdoria have just had a couple of corners that the champions didn't look all that convincing in clearing.
    • 9' Samp looking dangerous on the break again - good cross from Stankevicius on the right finds the head of Delvecchio. Just a little but behind the attacking midfielder though and he can't get any power on it - Cambiasso is able to guide the ball back to Julio Cesar.
    • 6' And the first shot actually comes from Samp as Cassano comes in from the right and fires over the bar. The Italian international looking sharp again. He finally sorted himself out here in Genoa last year after an awful spell at Real Madrid that was dogged with weight problems.
    • 5' Sampdoria having to do a lot of work just to get the ball back in this early stages - the crisp passing from Inter continues, they have hit the ground running. However, again, Mirante still hasn't had to make a save.
    • 3' Some lovely midfield inter-play from Inter to start this game - they are dominating possession but no chances as of yet.
    • 1' And off we go the Mourinho era at Inter is underway.
    • - Samp in their usual funky blue home shirts - Inter wearing white.
