NITE.. NITE.

Eagles had to change or they were dead magoo; Frey, Henley, Leadon and Meisner could only go so far, they brought in Felder to add a bit of weight, and found themselves too heavy for country and too country for heavy. Leadon was always and ever a bluegrass player, and he had had enough so Walsh had the rep and panache to take them forward; they needed a bit of theatre, they always took themselves too seriously.

As I say Lys, very eclectic in my tastes of music!
Blues beats all! Maybe the Blues meets me at my personality!
Any Johnson stuff would be welcome!

The Eagles were fantastic Lys! However, when Joe Walsh joined them for the album 'On The Border' their music changed! Walsh was a 'writer'!

Must asdmit that Dr.Hook was way up there!

BTW Magoo, I've got all Robert Johnson's stuff ;-)
You are welcome to it. I cut my teeth on blues and bluegrass!

Yep, I'm with you there magoo, but Eagles, (Best live band on the Planet), never appeared until '72-'73. I seen them support Neil Young in the Greens's Playhouse 1973.
Longbranch Pennywhistle, Burrito Brothers, Poco, Orleans, Pure Prairie League, Gram Parsons Byrds etc all predated them.
ELO were much later, (after The Move), It was a wonderful time for live bands.

Lys,
I was/am very eclectic in my musical tastes! I went with the times! However, my heart was with E.L.O., Eagles, etc
I'm a lover of the Blues! Robert Johnson didn't sell his soul!

Nah, you're kidding me on magoo, that wasn't music, Pure Prairie League, Crosby Stills and Nash, Flying Burrito Brothers, Ten Years after, Cream, Badfinger, Blue, Zappa, Fleetwood Mac, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Hook, Family, Wishbone Ash.... you only listened to that 'other stuff' when you were on to a ride....LOL

Lys,
When you 'thought' you were 'big', what was the music at the time? Bay City Rollers?

magoo, I was never that fashion conscious.... lol... but to be truthful, that was about the time when I was going to be a rock star, and was touring with a band, so I never got to too many games. I found out very quickly though, that one of the prerequisites to being a rock star at that time, unlike today, was that you had to have a wee bit of talent, and not just good looks and a charming personality..lol... so we flopped. Still practising though; the first Darby and Joan boy band and I'm right in there...LOL

Lys,
Ma Da took me to Celtic Park when I was 5. We were playng Dundee Utd and I could swear that Utd wore white tops and shorts with tangerine socks! Ring a bell?

Hoopy days Lys! Hoopy Days!
Can you remember when the Peoples Republic of China made a tour of england then came to Celtic Park? They played Middlesboro just before playing us!
6-1 to the tic!
The biggest cheer was when 'they' scored!

.... one strange thing that sticks in my head though magoo was that I always thought that the referee was a ringer for Jock Stein...lol.... oh don't ask!!!

Never been in a crowd like that in my life magoo, the game was a bit of a blur though, I had been in the Prince Charlie since about 4:30 that day, I worked in Queenslie at the time, I never made it to work the next day; in fact I never made it home 'til the Friday. My Maw thought I had been murdered, and I remember ending up with my eye in a sling after the oul man scudded me for worrying her to death.... ah... happy days!!

Lys, ya auld chef! No doubt you'll remember the best team in Britain [Leeds] coming to Celtic Park and we humped them! Bremners goal was a beauty!

the shoot out was comedy gold, you got me a couple of years ago with that one,i argued with you about not being something and you let me rip and then said i asked you a question and did not say you were. dinner time.

From memory, Rangers played a European tie in the early 60's, yes I'm THAT old, down in England. As is normal for Rangers fans wrecked the place and the English papers headlines were that they were like an army of marauding huns, and it just stuck!

sorry john g you've lost me there, chief!
