    • 90' Full Time. 3-1. Manchester City have every reason to be disappointed. Racing on the other hand will be heartbroken. That late Caicedo goal consigns them to 4th place in Group A, with Paris St Germain pipping them to 3rd place by virtue of goal difference. Hard luck to the Spanish side who played well tonight. Thanks for joining us here on Eurosport.
    • 90' I speak too soon. Caicedo bags himself a goal. Zabaleta does well on the right, he puts in a low centre which Caideo slots into the bottom corner. Heartbreak for Racing, that means that they just miss out on qualification for the next stages on goal difference.
    • 90' Fernandes does well on the right-hand touchline and his low cross is cleared for a corner. The corner sails well over everyone. That sums up Man City's night really.
    • 90' Three minutes of added time.
    • 83' The impressive Pereira is cheered by the home fans as he leaves the pitch to be replaced by 'Juanjo'. That's like two names in one!
    • 83' Ben Haim does well to thwart a break from the home side, forcing an interception. It was three against two there.
    • 80' Kompany booked for a nasty challenge on Lucen. Garay is also booked for his part in the resulting exchanges. The players ignote Lucen, who rolls around in agony and chose to look menacingly at each other and loiter with intent.
    • 78' Caicedo shows some silky skills. He dances through the Racing defence on the left before squaring to...no-one. Good play by the subsitute though.
    • 76' Colsa comes off, milking the applause, to be replaced by Lacen.
    • 74' Ched Evans is replaced by Caicedo. Caicedo is a very big unit!
    • 72' Kompany shows some intent, breaks into the box and tries a one-two with Darius Vassell. The ball strikes the Belgian International's hand and the referee awards a free-kick to the home side.
    • 69' Serrano is hacked down by Zabaleta. That was a poor tackle and the ref is right to issue him a yellow card. City are clearly frustrated, that is not the first tackle in anger they've put in tonight.
    • 65' Manchester City have...A CORNER! Hamann gets up high, but totally mistimes his leap and barely makes contact with the ball.
    • 62' A chance to make it FOUR goes begging. Tchite races through on goal, rounds Schmeichel, who does a great impression of an NFL linebacker missing a tackle, but can only shoot wide with the goal at his mercy. I don't think Joe Hart will have too many worries about competition for the goal-keeping jersey- Kasper Schmeichel has been eccentric at best.
    • 58' Elano shoots from all of 30 yards but it barely reaches the goal. Mark Hughes is clearly not impressed as he replaces the Brazilian with Vincent Kompany.
    • 54' It's THREE! The home fans at El Sardinero are going wild! Serrano crosses from the left, Marcano heads it back across the face of goal and VALERO applies an acrobatic finish from close range. Man City all over the place at the back.
    • 51' Man City are certainly keeping the ball a bit better. Still no end product.
    • 46' A bit of handbags at ten paces attracts the attention of most of the players on the pitch and the referee has to be diligent in managing the resulting melee. I don't know what all the fuss was about. Elano and Luccin still seem to be giving each other 'adoring' glances.
    • 45' I tell a lie...Stephen Ireland, who has been in fine goal-scoring form this year, replaces Robinho.
    • 45' The second-half begins. Neither side has made any changes.
    • 45' Half Time. Racing deserve their two-goal lead, in truth, they could be three or four to the good. If Mark Hughes has a hair dryer, I suggest he uses it to give his players the famous 'treatment'. Man City have been off the pace so far tonight and will need to improve greatly in the scond half if they are to make an impression here tonight.
    • 44' Great work from Munitis. He drives infield from the right hand side before slipping in a ball for Serrano, who lets his team-mate down by shooting high and wide.
    • 42' Scrappy end to the first-half as the midfield battle becomes fairly rugged.
    • 39' Jonathan Pereira feels he should have had a penalty after a collision with Schmeichel on the edge of the City area. To be fair he was caught by the Danish keeper who took a boot to the mouth for his troubles. The refere waves away the penalty shouts, giving a corner instead. Good decision for me.
    • 36' Racing playing all the football here. Munitis crosses to Tchite who shows great technique, but his well-struck volley is straight at Kasper Schmiechel.
    • 34' That looked like a decent shout for a penalty. Vassell challenges clumsily from behind as Serrano makes his way into the area. Perhaps on reflection he got a little of the ball, only a little mind.
    • 29' Gol, gol, gol. Serrana plays a lovely one-two with Jonathan Pereira and latches on to the return ball before poking the ball calmly past the oncoming Schmeichel and into the net. 2-0.
    • 28' Zabaleta cuts in from the left and powers a fairly decent 25 yard effort at goal which drifts just over the bar.
    • 27' The referee is getting in the Christmas spirit and dishing out his cards tonight! Didi Hamann is the latest to go in the book for an innocuous challenge on the left-hand touchline.
    • 26' Robinho hasn't showed up yet. With one of the first touches I can remember him having he skips in from the left and prompty gives the ball away...
    • 23' Elano drives into the box and wins a corner. Racing's manager is getting fairly animated on the touchline. He need not worry too much, the corner is high, harmless and cleared easily.
    • 21' Racing in front and looking comfortable. They break quickly down the right and Micah Richards has to be alert as he clears the danger with a diving header.
    • 17' Racing take the resulting free-kick quickly and Schmeichel can only parry a low cross from the left to Pereira who bundles home from five yards.
    • 15' Ben Haim is booked for throwing out an arm and catching Munitis, who falls theatrically.
    • 13' Valera finds himself on the end of a great ball into the box, but the defender does not quite get enough on his header and Schmeichel saves.
    • 12' Despite having two attempts at the Free-Kick, Garrido makes no impression on the Racing goal.
    • 11' Elano again the architecht as he curves a ball into the path of Evans who is hauled down by Marcano, and the Spaniard is quite rightly booked. Free Kick about 25 yards out.
    • 4' Elano lofts a delightful ball through for young Ched Evans, but Coltorti is quickly off his line and collects the ball cleanly.
    • 1' We're underway. Racing immediately put a dangerous looking ball into the City box, but the men in Sky Blue clear their lines.
    • 1943 Some team news for you: Kasper Schmeichel replaces Joe Hart in goal, and Tal Ben Haim replaces Richard Dunne at the back. Brazilian sensation Robinho starts, although he might noty feel totally at home in the wet and windy conditions tonight.
    • 19.41 Hello and welcome to this UEFA Cup Group A clash between Manchester City and Racing Santander. We're at Estadio El Sardinero tonight and Manchester City will be looking to cement their position at the top of Group A with a victory.
