    • - England dominate that group, the only blot on the copy-book the unlucky loss at Ukraine, click here for final standings!
    • - For a comprehensive photo gallery of that match, click here!
    • 90+3 That's the final whistle! An easy win in the end for England as they make it nine wins out of 10 in their World Cup qualifying campaign. Normal service resumed after the Ukraine defeat!
    • 90+1 Kashevski is somehow called onside racing clear on the left, he looked three or four yards off to me, but his cross is poor and England clear.
    • 89' Harsh free-kick awarded against Milner after he worked well to win it back on the left. Beckham and Milner have really made a difference, different types of player to Lennon and SWP but with no lesser impact.
    • 88' Beckham has it on the edge of the box, it opens up for him and he drills a low shot past the keeper but off the left-hand post and away! England hit the woodwork twice in a minute.
    • 87' Lampard chases Beckham's ball on the left, he cuts it back and Milner on it, he beats one man, the another with a super step-over and he must score but the finish across the keeper comes off the inside of the post, across the line and clear! What poor luck!
    • 86' SWP and Beckham combine and England win a free-kick but half-cleared, still with England though.
    • 85' Barry wide to Cole who crosses for Crouch again but Verkhovtsov gets a head on it and Belarus survive.
    • 84' The crowd are singing God Save The Queen now as England wind this match down, a nice easy win.
    • 83' BELARUS SUB: Kashevsky on for Bordachev.
    • 82' Johnson now on the right after some lovely passing from England, a good cross for Crouch but just ahead of him.
    • 80' Barry plays Beckham into trouble but wins it back. Now long to SWP on the left who cuts inside, now Lampard wide to Milner with a deep, dangerous cross for CROUCH but the keeper tips it away just in time!
    • 79' Beckham gets down the right and puts in a cross that wreaks havoc and the loose ball almost drops to Lampard but he cannot quite get his foot around it and Belarus clear.
    • 78' ENGLAND SUB: Milner, who is clever and good enough to play anywhere, comes on at left-back for Bridge, who is limping.
    • 77' To anyone who doubts Crouch, his 18 goals for England have come in 17 starts and 18 sub appearances. Only two of them came from the bench. That means 16 goals in 17 starts. That is very, very good, by any standard.
    • 76' Cole is now in space on the right, the left-back is nowhere and he drills a low shot which the keeper parries but there is Crouch again for his second tapping in from close range waiting to pounce on the rebound! 3-0, and Crouch's 18th goal for England.
    • 74' Good stuff from England as Crouch flicks it wide, Barry to Lampard on the left with a good hanging cross but the keeper gets there before Cole flying in.
    • 73' Foster comes for a right-wing cross that was always too deep for him but Beckham comes to the rescue, tracking back to hammer it away from Rodionov and out for a throw.
    • 71' This match is in a somewhat expected lull now, Belarus have not quite given up but England are killing this game in Italian fashion.
    • 69' Kalachev to take this from the right, a deep delivery knocked back towards goal but Foster is fouled.
    • 68' Terry again with a sliding tackle covering Bridge at left-back after he gave the ball away. Bridge then slides in and gives away a free-kick.
    • 66' Terry slides in to snuff out a break down the Belarus right. ENGLAND SUB: Cole on for Agbonlahor. Now THAT is a big strike pairing, average height of around 6'5"...
    • 65' The corner goes far post and Foster cannot reach it through the crowd of bodies but eventually cleared.
    • 64' Lovely one-touch play from Belarus, Kornilenko backheels it to Omelyanchuk for a brilliant give and go and he hammers it into the top right but a brilliant one-handed reflex stop from Foster! Super save! Coner.
    • 62' England have stepped back a little and are letting Belarus come at them, which makes for some pretty enough passing but beware the break!
    • 60' Agbonlahor harasses the fullback into an error and wins a corner on the left. Well played from the Villa man. Beckham takes it short to SWP on the edge of the box and he drills it through a crowd of players AND UNDER THE KEEPER'S OUTSTRETCHED ARM FOR 2-0! Keeper should have stopped that but Sweepy doesn't care, he gets a goal that swings the wide-man pendulum back in his favour!
    • 59' ENGLAND SUB: Beckham, who has an excellent beard, comes on for Lennon, who surely has done enough to edge SWP out in future games.
    • 58' The crowd roar their approval as Beckham warms up. Crouch almost releases Agbonlahor but Belarus are back in numbers to crowd him out.
    • 57' Crouch gives the ball away as Belarus attack, Omelyanchuk some way out tries a shot which takes a deflection that wrong-foots Foster but well done the Manchester United keeper to readjust his feet and grab it with both hands.
    • 56' Lampard takes but punched clear. Much more like it from England at the start of this second half.
    • 55' Great run from Lennon on the right, he skips past three players before going down, looked like a nudge maybe but he gets a corner.
    • 54' Johnson pops up on the right centre and puts in a good cross diagonal for Crouch who is offside, marginally if at all.
    • 53' Decent move from England but Lennon's ball to Lampard is intercepted and Belarus play the ball out of defence. Back with England though, Bridge forward to SWP but he mis-controls. A late tackle from Kornilenko on SWP and it is a yellow card.
    • 52' SWP gets up, he got some studs accidentally in the back during that passage of play. Good manners from Belarus again to give the ball back to England after play restarts.
    • 51' Lennon is pretty much everywhere, buzzing around and harrying the Belarus players. The visitors have been camped in their half thus far this half, implying a word from Capello at the break. Belarus do break through, Shitov on the right, SWP chases him but gets hurt making a tackle, play on as Belarus try to work a chance but eventually Terry puts it out and SWP can get treatment
    • 50' Lampard puts the corner in, Barry rises but cleared and they can break here but Lennon does well to intercept for a throw.
    • 49' Lamaprd to take then and he dips a really nice shot up and down over the wall that the keeper palms over for a corner.
    • 48' Crouch knocks it down and Lampard bursts towards the area and slides Agbonlahor in, he is hauled down as he played the one-two and a free-kick. Lampard is annoyed as he had run through on goal.
    • 47' Lampard wins a free-kick in the England half, put long but Crouch beaten to it.
    • 46' Second half underway, an England move breaks down and Belarus counter, which is itself stopped by Terry.
    • - Beckham, Milner and Upson have been warming up so expect some kind of cameo from at least one of them this second half. No changes though!
    • - Click here to see Peter Crouch score England's 4th-minute opener.
    • - Click here for pics of England v Belarus from Wembley.
    • 45+2 Half-time, England lead 1-0 and decent value for it through that early Peter Crouch goal.
    • 45+1 Johnson does well to slip the ball wide to Lennon who has pace to burn, loads of space and he picks out a good fizzing cross to CROUCH WITH A DIVING HEADER BUT WIDE OF THE NEAR POST!
    • 45' One added minute being played.
    • 44' Promising England move breaks down as the visitors clear but Kornilenko's attempted give-and-go with Kutusov fails, back with Foster.
    • 43' England are back in control now after Belarus' little spell of possession dominance, knocking it about nicely as they patiently work an opening.
    • 42' Great run by SWP down the left, holding off several challenges before feeding Barry, who loses the ball and chops down Shitov.
    • 41' Lampard swings it in from the right, headed clear but knocked back in by Crouch AND TERRY TRIES A SCISSOR KICK but blocked by the defender.
    • 40' England finally get to build something as Yurevich gives away a free-kick with a clumsy challenge on Lennon on the England right.
    • 39' England have barely had a sniff for the last five minutes and even when they intercept SWP gets tackled and the counter is nullified.
    • 38' Several red shirts are around this as they take it short, a step-over and Omelyanchuk shoots but straight down the throat of Foster.
    • 37' Johnson somewhat telegraphs a crossfield pass to SWP and Kalachev intercepts, starting a move that eventually yields a free-kick around 25 yards out.
    • 36' Belarus break, Kornilenko with a one-two and Kutuzov is in but his shot is blocked and England clear. The visitors are playing quite well now.
    • 35' Johnson defending on halfway as he robs Belarus man Bordachov and slips it in for Crouch, who holds it up for Johnson but eventually Belarus get bodies back and clear.
    • 34' Careless from Johnson giving the bal to Kalachev who slips a great ball in for Kornilenko clean through but just beyond him and England survive!
    • 33' Wright-Phillips looks a bit out of place on the left, losing control of the ball but then winning a free kick.
    • 32' Great ball crossfield to Lennon but even his rapid legs can't get him to it, out for a goal kick. The pace of England's wide men allows them to switch the play very, very quickly.
    • 31' Agbonlahor wins a throw when he has no right to, hassling the full-back
    • 29' The corner is half-cleared and put back into the box by Barry but Terry is offside. England get it back though as the keeper Zhevnov makes an error, putting a back pass into touch. Quick throw from Lennon releases Johnson, he cuts inside AND JOHNSON IS IN but he slips as he shoots with his left and it spins well wide of the far post. Unlucky as any good contact there would have made the keeper work.
    • 28' England have a corner on the right which Lampard is over to take.
    • 27' Wright-Phillips gets it from Bridge after a surging run from his City team-mate. SWP then over-hits it but almost gets on to the loose ball before Belarus clear.
    • 26' Wright-Phillips gets down the left but his cross is blocked and Belarus clear. Some good possession for the visitors eventually goes to waste on the left.
    • 25' Long ball looking for Crouch but he is under pressure and the ball bounces off the top of his head and into the keeper's arms.
    • 24' Super play as Kornilenko is played in following some clever passing but Johnson races across to intercept just as the Belarus striker prepares to shoot and England clear.
    • 23' Kornlilenko is down in the England half but the ref waves play on with Belarus in possession, he gets up eventually as Terry heads Kalachev's cross clear. Still with the visitors though, who may not be the highest-ranked team around but they can certainly pass the ball.
    • 22' Decent corner but Barry's header is straight at the keeper.
    • 21' Free-kick to Belarus around 40 yards out, Sosnovsky to take, short and Omelyanchuk crosses but England clear, Barry to Agbonlahor who races clear, he runs away from the Belarus defence on the right, he cuts inside, beats the defender and drills it in low, good block but the England man is on to the loose ball and behind for a corner before he can shoot!
    • 20' Zhevnov is down injured after that knock, getting treatment in the box.
    • 19' Crouch plays a super ball into for Agbonlahor, he is crowded out of it but Lennon picks it up on the right. Five red shirts swarm in on him so he plays it back to Johnson who swings over a dangerous cross but Wright-Phillips barges the keeper Zhevnov and the ref blows for a foul.
    • 18' Barry quickly plays it long for Agbonlahor but his former Villa team-mate is offside.
    • 17' England playing it around at the back patiently enough, Barry switches it to the left, Agbonlahor cuts inside, now Lennon but Kalachev clears from Johnson.
    • 16' Crouch gets forward down the right and crosses first time but Verkhovtsov gets ahead of Agbonlahor to clear.
    • 15' Another corner to England which Lampard will take from the right, an excellent delivery TO CROUCH DEEP WITH A POWERFUL HEADER BUT WIDE!
    • 14' Super play by Barry, beating two men then backheeling it to Lennon. The move breaks down as Agbonlahor is tackled.
    • 13' Drop ball in the middle of the park after a clash of heads, Belarus give it straight back to Foster in sporting fashion.
    • 12' England are piling it on now, the ball spins to Crouch in the box, he goes down claiming a penlalty, not realising it was his strike partner Agbonlahor who tripped him.
    • 11' Lampard to take, this is a real goal-scoring opportunity but he disappointingly fires straight into the wall.
    • 10' Good pressure from England, the cross from the left is cleared, now Barry surges forward to beat two men and find Crouch, he looks for Lampard and is fouled when challenging for the loose ball. Free-kick England right on the edge of the box!
    • 9' Belarus clear the corner and they can break here but Kalachev can't get past Johnson and England have it back.
    • 8' Some great one-touch passing by Belarus in the England half but Kutuzov cannot control it and England break, Bridge crosses but cleared, out to Barry who the crowd urge to shoot but he cleverly spreads it wide to Lennon who wins a corner. Good game at this early stage.
    • 7' Agbonlahor with another burst down the left but even he cannot get there this time, goal kick.
    • 6' Low free-kick aimed to the near post, it skips away from Barry and Kornilenko tries to finish but puts it wide! Good chance for Belarus, awkward corner to deal with.
    • 5' Corner to Belarus which Bridge heads clear from under the post, Omelyanchuk has it and shoots a daisy cutter from range which takes a deflection off Terry and spins out for another corner.
    • 4' Bridge inside to Barry on halfway, he slides an excellent through ball that frees Agbonlahor who gets clear of Verkhovtsov with his superb pace and he hits the byline to drag the ball back TO CROUCH SLIDING IN TO KNOCK THE BALL PAST ZHEVNOV FOR 1-0! Crouch scores AGAIN for England.
    • 3' Kornlilenko swings it high and far post to Kalachev but Johnson intercepts, heading back to Foster.
    • 2' Agbonlahor wins a free-kick on the left, Lampard to take as Ferdinand and Terry get forward.... Poor delivery headed clear but it drops to WRIGHT-PHILLIPS WITH A RIGHT-FOOT DRIVE but wide!
    • 1' Match underway at Wembley!!
    • - England have serious problems in goal, it seems. Foster has been in poor form for Manchester United but still is third in line to the number one jersey. Should Joe Hart be given his chance? Is Paul Robinson a serious contender again? Or are English keepers just genetically dodgy? Have your say below!
    • - So, in spite of everything, Ben Foster gets another chance in goal for England, with David James not fit enough to replace the suspended Green. As predicted, Bridge, Crouch and Agbonlahor are in for Cole, Heskey and Rooney, while Gareth Barry replaces Michael Carrick - who was ineffectual against Ukraine. Perhaps surprisingly, Shaun Wright-Phillips comes in for Steven Gerrard, with Aaron Lennon switching to the left. James Milner will be disappointed not to get a start.
    • - Referee: Lucilio Cardoso Cortez Batista (Portugal)
    • - Belarus team: Zhevnov, Kulchy, Yurevich, Sosnovskiy, Bordachev, Verkhovtsov, Omelyanchuk, Shitov, Kalachev, Kornilenko, Kutuzov; Subs: Amelchenko, Kashevsky, Lantsevich, Kovel, Rudik, Krivets, Rodionov
    • - England team: Foster, Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, Bridge, Lennon, Lampard, Barry, Wright-Phillips, Crouch, Agbonlahor; Subs: Hart, Upson, A, Cole, Milner, Carrick, Beckham, C, Cole
    • - There are more pressing issues at stake today, with several European teams fighting to win their groups and seal automatic qualification or finish second and make the play-offs. Click here for our LIVE World Cup qualifying scores and scorers
    • - Click here for photos from Wembley as they come in.
    • - The main purpose of this match for England boss Fabio Capello is to see how his squad players fare in the absence of Robert Green (suspended) and the injured Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard. A new strike duo of Gabriel Agbonlahor and Peter Crouch will start, while Wayne Bridge should get a run out with Ashley Cole given a breather. More on that here!
    • - England, as everyone knows, were confirmed Group 6 winners after spanking Croatia 5-1 last month. They lost to Ukraine at the weekend, results which mean Ukraine and not Croatia enter the play-offs as both, as expected, won earlier at weak opposition today. Belarus finish fourth. Group 6 details

  1. There is 1 person who is known to be a greatest Critic of Beckham... former Arsenal player Brian Glanville (HE writes columns in SPortstar Magazine)... HE points out some shortcomings of BEckham which are always Right on mark and I also want to see how he overcomes those in the World cup..

If Capello uses Beckham as a sub then can he perform against the Big teams??? He hasn't that much Quality in play as other Midfield players of England(not in terms of passing but in pace and dribbling ability).. as we know since Ac Milan is now struggling in terms of football they play can he imply himself there in coming January...???

And lastly i hate to hear the apathy of Capello towards Owen.. Since Owen is rediscovering himself in United now.... i think he should be CAlled back to the Squad...U never know.. he could be the HIghest Scorer in World Cup...

  2. It hurts me to say this but Stick Insect did well last night in scoring two goals. Poaching goals always looks so easy but there's a knack to being in the right place and it looks like he's got it when others, with more footballing skills, don't.
I think , and this is sticking a bit I'm sorry, Crouch has to go to SA.
He takes loads of abuse from fans around the Country and is never going to win Spurs or anyone else the Premier title but, in an England shirt, his record is , cough , pretty good.
Beckam's 30 minute cameo proves that he has a role as an impact sub but he was rightly embarrassed at winning the MOM award. I'm not sure that any single player deserved that accolade ( ? ) although SWP's industry was noticeable as was JT's immense presence at in the back 4.
Foster deserves a mention in dispatches too for a fine save when he could have been forgiven for falling asleep at the wheel he was that busy.

For a start Spain are the best team in the world, Brazil have gone downhill and are nt that great. Argentina are rubbish now and may not even qualify, Italy are a pile of @#$%. France and Germany are average. Portugals only good player is ronaldo and they might not qualify aswell. England are not great but they are doing well under capello and on paper their team is insane. And we did win the world cup in 1966 so shut your mouth

England is no good....they will never win the world cup anyway....They are the most overated team in the history of sports....English soccer is only good because foreign players play there....England is not even top 5 in soccer...Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Germany and France are defentely better....Spain, Netherlands, Portugal are just as good...England is lucky to make the top 10 ranking.
