    • 36' Chile taking a few chances at the back and Torres is levered off the ball by Arturo Vidal but no penalty.

    • 33' Iniesta draws players in and finds Villa who feeds Torres but his first touch in the penalty area is clumsy and Chile clear.

    • 25' GOAL SPAIN!! David Villa scores from 45 yards! Bravo needlessly comes racing off his line to deal with a long ball and Barcelona's new signing dispatches the follow-up into the empty net, even through he's virtually standing on the left touchline.

    • 11' Spain are cut open, a lovely step over from Beausejour who gets the return pass and he squares to Mark Gonzalez at the back post but he loses his footing and shins his effort wide from close range.
    • 10' Beausejour's cross from the left is cut out by Iniesta.
    • 9' Bravo is one of three Chilean players who ply their trade in the Spanish Leagues, Bravo with Real Sociedad plus subs Humberto Suazo (Real Zaragoza) and Fabián Orellana (Xerez CD).

    • 1' And we are underway!
    • 19:25 Referee Marco Rodriguez of Mexico leads the teams out.
    • 19:20 Chile’s only draw against Spain came in a 1981 friendly in Santiago de Chile. Their most recent meeting was in November 2008 at Villarreal’s El Madrigal when Spain triumphed 3-0. David Villa opened the scoring via a penalty kick and Fernando Torres and Santi Cazorla also scored.
    • 19:15 Their only World Cup encounter dates back to 1950. It was also the first meeting between these two. Spain won 2-0 courtesy of goals by Estanislao Basora and Telmo Zarra.
    • 19:10 The two nations have met seven times before, including once at the World Cup. Spain are undefeated in the series, having racked up six victories and one draw. Spain have outscored Chile 18-3 in the series.
    • 19:05 This is a matchup between two sides nicknamed ‘La Roja’. The Red versus The Red. Chile are the 'home side’ in this fixture.
    • 19:00 Group explained: Chile will win the group with a victory or a draw. They can also advance with a defeat, but that would depend on the final score in the Switzerland-Honduras match with the Swiss goal difference only two worse. Spain are guaranteed to go through with a victory, they can also advance with a draw if the other match is drawn or Honduras win and even with a loss if Honduras record a narrow victory.
    • 18:55 Jorge Valdivia replaces Suazo while Marco Estrada makes his first appearance of the World Cup as a replacement for holding midfielder Carlos Carmona, who is suspended.
    • 18:50 Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa left striker Humberto Suazo, who is not fully fit, out of his starting 11 and rejigged his formation to give it a slightly more defensive emphasis.
    • 18:45 Del Bosque also decided to deploy strikers David Villa and Fernando Torres in a two-pronged attack for a second straight game as Spain seek the victory that would send them through to the second round to face Brazil or Portugal.
    • 18:40 Spain coach Vicente del Bosque includes fit-again midfielder Andres Iniesta in his starting line-up. Iniesta, whose creativity may be the key to unlocking the Chilean defence, was an unused substitute in Monday's 2-0 win over Honduras after picking up a knock in the surprise 1-0 defeat against Switzerland.
    • 18:35 Teams - Chile: 1-Claudio Bravo; 4-Mauricio Isla, 17-Gary Medel, 3-Waldo Ponce, 8-Arturo Vidal, 11-Mark Gonzalez, 13-Marco Estrada, 18-Gonzalo Jara, 10-Jorge Valdivia, 15-Jean Beausejour, 7-Alexis Sanchez. /// Spain: 1-Iker Casillas; 15-Sergio Ramos, 3-Gerard Pique, 5-Carles Puyol, 11-Joan Capdevila; 14-Xabi Alonso, 8-Xavi, 6-Andres Iniesta, 16-Sergio Busquets; 9-Fernando Torres, 7-David Villa.
    • 18:30 It's make-or-break for Spain as they face Chile in Pretoria with their World Cup status on the line.

  6. For112. You have no idea of "geoploitics": Chile is also Spanish speaking + Latinamerican, like Mexico. They tend to have sympathy for each other and versus the former colonialists Spain. However, it would be the other way round if one of the teams wasn't spanish speakers. Anyway I think the referee, on the whole, had no influence on the final scoring.

    Torres,Busquetts ,Iniesta are consistent divers.
Torres clearly wanted the other player sent off!

This world cup shows how money corrupt football.
High paid players dont deliver,so they have to try to dive and dive and dive!

From Paul, on Sun 27 Jun 1:39
  8. Yes yes yes, the Spaniards are divers, the Italians are cheaters, Ivory Coast are butchers, Portuguese cheaters too, English are rubbish, brazilians are boring,....Let´s hope for Germany to win this!

  14. There was no tangle of the legs. Torres dived under no contact from Estrada in a deliberate attempt to get him sent off. Typical double standards. Everyone is all over the Italians but when other teams cheat, dive, playact, foul it's ignored especially now that everyone is aboard the Spanish bandwagon. Pathetic.

england fans wake up ffs your team is @#$% the premier league is @#$% thats why english teams dont win f all you muppets you are consistant tho always giving the rest of uk a good laff. b4 you go on about that you qualified etc there are over 50 million of u 9 million scots 3 million welsh and 3 million n iron so its not a shock also all the refs pander to u

From Steven, on Sat 26 Jun 12:39
  16. Typical English comments. When a fantastic country plays a little less than it should then you criticize. Every player on the English team played like they were third division substitudes whereas at least Spain, although not playing the best, create imagative football, that English players can´t even dream of. To sum up, English players and tactics have been far surpassed by the people that they dislike the most. I feel that England should loose and deservedly so.

    From marikita2002, on Sat 26 Jun 12:28
  17. Expecting a Mexican referee not to be biased to Spain is like expecting Cyprus not to vote for Greece and Latvia not to vote for Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Bottom line: Allocating him Fifa show they are incompetent and not fit to run the sport.

From lowessteven, on Sat 26 Jun 12:26
  18. the spanish dont care if you guys think the game was boring. they dont give a @#$%. all they wanted was the three points and i thought it was a great idea to keep passing the ball in their own half.who cares that you guys think the game was "boring". spain won and thats all it matters

From ACM 22, on Sat 26 Jun 12:04
  19. If Torres wasn't diving why didn't they show the replay on TV? Obviously not a red card, and it might be a conspiracy as well. How many Mexicans referee did you see refereeing tonight's game huh? Great play from the Chileans. They showed us true football spirit. No such thing as giving up although playing with a man down.

From arteyu, on Sat 26 Jun 12:02

Just luck and a favourable ref... their players are cowards.
