    • 85' The goal scorer Suarez is replaced by Alvaro Fernandez.

    • 82' Lugano is penalised for a push.
    • 81' Barrera turns behind for Uruguay's fifth corner.
    • 80' A cross from the right is deflected and loops invitingly into the arms of Muslera.
    • 79' Hernandez is Mexico's big hope who recently transferred from Guadalajara to United after his sudden emergence this year with 10 goals in the Clausura championship. A sharp-witted penalty box predator nicknamed "Chicharito" after his stocky father "Chicharo" (a small, round, green vegetable), who played for hosts Mexico at the 1986 World Cup. His grandfather Tomas Balcazar played at the 1954 finals.
    • 78' Hernandez is booked for blocking off Victorino with his arm.
    • 77' Alvaro Pereira is replaced by Andres Scotti - a striker for a defender.
    • 76' Giovani's cross is missed by Hernandez but flicks off Lugano for a corner.
    • 75' Rodriguez flings himself at a cross from the right but heads over.
    • 74' Barrera forces a corner.
    • 73' That means a three goal turnaround is needed in the next 20 minutes or so.
    • 72' Good news for Mexico as Florent Malouda scores for France.
    • 71' Long ball in the direction of Forlan but he can't control.
    • 70' Barrera bursts down the right but his cross is cut out.

    • 67' Fucile hauls over Giovani and sees the first yellow card of the match.
    • 66' That would have settled Mexican nerves but it is still only 2-0 in Bloemfontein.
    • 65' Rodriguez with the miss of the tournament. Barrera curls a delicious cross from the right only for the unmarked defender to head wide when unmarked in the middle of the goal from six yards.
    • 64' Almost an immediate impact from Manchester United new boy Hernandez as he produces a superb pass to put Giovani through but again a superb saving tackle from Fucile denies the Mexican.
    • 63' Mexico make their final change with Blanco replaced by Javier Hernandez.
    • 62' Salcido trips himself up and has the temerity to complain when he is not awarded a free-kick.
    • 61' Match Image Suarez celebrates with Forlan
    • 60' The last three countries to keep three clean sheets in the group stage were Italy (1990), Argentina (1998) and Switzerland (2006). Uruguay 30 minutes away from joining that group.
    • 59' Barrera with a wild, wild effort that screws off the outside of his boot.
    • 58' Hector Moreno is replaced by midfielder Israel Castro with Marquez dropping into the back four.
    • 57' Alvaro Pereira's deep cross just eludes the full-back Maximiliano Pereira who was up in the penalty area.
    • 56' Perez makes a hash of Forlan's corner but he gets just enough on his punch to clear the danger.
    • 55' A superb save, diving low to his right, by Perez to push away Lugano's header before the follow-up shot is blocked.
    • 54' Salcido brings down Cavani and Uruguay can put the ball into the penalty area.
    • 53' Lovely backheel from Franco but Giovani slips at the moment of truth in the penalty area.
    • 52' Uruguay high on confidence - their 3-0 win against South Africa was their biggest World Cup victory since beating Scotland 7-0 in 1954.
    • 51' The game is opening up with lots of room in midfield.
    • 50' Purposeful run from Cavani but he fails to make clean contact with his shot from the right side of the penalty area and that's easy for Perez.
    • 49' Rodriguez running to take a throw-in, they are showing urgency although a further two goal swing is required to eliminate them.
    • 48' Mexico on the front foot at the start of the second-half but Giovani's shot is charged down.
    • 47' Blanco's curling free-kick floats into the arms of Muslera.
    • 46' Pablo Barrera has replaced Guardado at the break.
    • 45+1' HALF-TIME! And what an intriguing proposition we have, Group A boiling up nicely.
    • 45' Uruguay win their second corner but headed clear at the second attempt.
    • 44' The live group table means Mexico and South Africa are level on four points with the hosts' goal difference -1 and the Mexicans on +1.
    • 43' Superb counter-attacking started when Forlan won the ball back for his side.
    • 42' GOAL URUGUAY! A cross from the right by Cavani and Luis Suarez is totally unmarked six yards out to head home. He beats Perez at the near post.
    • 40' Uruguay have kept two clean sheets in a row. They have never kept three consecutive clean sheets at the World Cup.
    • 39' Another shot from distance is way over the top, this time from Carlos Salcido.
    • 38' Match Image Perez makes a save
    • 37' Perez is back on.
    • 36' Remember a further three goal swing is required to deny Mexico and four to knock out Uruguay.
    • 35' South Africa now 2-0 up against France.
    • 34' Nine shots so far in an entertaining encounter.
    • 33' Blood streaming from the face of Diego Perez after a clash with Guardado and the Uruguay man is forced off to change his shirt.
    • 32' The last time Uruguay reached the last 16 at the World Cup was in 1990, also under coach Oscar Tabárez.
    • 31' Match Image Blanco jumps for the ball with Lugano and Victorino
    • 30' A vital saving tackle by Jorge Fucile, just as Giovani was about to pull the trigger. The full-back was initially outmuscled by the Mexican who could have got his shot off if he was prepared to use his right foot.
    • 29' Forlan beats one man but Marquez curtails his run.
    • 28' Forward by Blanco to Giovani in the penalty area but the Mexican is penalised after being outmuscled by Lugano.
    • 27' Another hopeful long range shot from Cavani poses no threat to Perez.
    • 26' Mexico have not been eliminated in the group phase since 1978, a run of five appearances without a group phase exit.
    • 25' France are now down to 10 men after Yoann Gourcuff's sending off.
    • 24' Perez makes a complete hash of a routine chip from Forlan but luckily the ball doesn't fall to a blue shirt.
    • 23' What a strike! Andres Guardado unleashes a 35-yard thunderbolt which comes off the underside of the crossbar. Fernando Muslera was totally beaten.
    • 22' Alvaro Pereira clean through on goal but he screws his shot wide from the left channel with Forlan screaming for a square pass. Hector Moreno did just enough to put him off with a sliding tackle.
    • 21' And South Africa have taken the lead in the other match in the group. LIVE Coverage
    • 20' Nice exchange from Dos Santos and Andres Guardado and Mexico win a second corner.
    • 19' Forlan's corner is met by the stooping Victorino but he is unable to keep his header down. The defender was unmarked - a second good chance for Uruguay.
    • 18' Suarez pulls the ball across to Cavani with his back to goal but stout defending from Rodriguez denies him a shooting chance.
    • 17' Remember both teams are through with a draw, in which case Uruguay will win the group. Mexico, as runners-up, would then likely be faced with a rematch against Argentina, who ousted the Mexicans in the last 16 in 2006.
    • 16' A lovely dink over the top from Blanco to Franco in the penalty area but the former West Ham striker fails to shoot early and the ball runs away from him.
    • 15' Guillermo Franco goes down on the edge of the penalty area after a collision with Mauricio Victorino but the Mexican player ran into the defender.
    • 14' Forlan chips in a free-kick from the left but Perez punches clear with authority.
    • 13' Suarez attempts an audacious curled chip from 25 yards but easy for Perez.
    • 12' A dodgy backpass puts Oscar Perez in trouble and he has to hack clear with Edinson Cavani lurking.
    • 11' Any talk of a preordained draw look to have been quashed by a lively opening 10 minutes.
    • 10' Carlos Salcido's low cross across the face of the goal is turned behind for a corner by the sliding Lugano.
    • 9' Diego Perez warned after a tackle on Blanco from behind which again the veteran makes the most of.
    • 8' Giovani Dos Santos' cross from the right is just over the head of Blanco who goes down a little theatrically under the slightest touch from Lugano.
    • 7' Best chance so far after Francisco Rodriguez totally misreads a long ball but Luis Suarez misses the far post from the right channel.
    • 6' Maximiliano Pereira tries his luck with a 40-yard free-kick, way over!
    • 5' The most recent match between the sides was at the 2007 Copa América. Mexico won 3-1. Sebastián Abreu put Uruguay in front, but Mexico countered with goals from Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Omar Bravo and Andrés Guardado. Uruguay’s Diego Lugano was sent off on 36 minutes.
    • 4' A shot by Maximiliano Pereira from 30 yards is wide left.
    • 3' Mexico have tremendous support in the stadium and are making themselves heard.
    • 2' An early blast at goal from long range from Rafael Marquez is way over the crossbar.
    • 1' And we are underway in the final group games!
    • 14:55 The teams are out before a crystal blue sky in North West Province of South Africa.
    • 14:50 Mexico and Uruguay have once at the World Cup. In a 1966 group phase fixture, the two negotiated a goalless draw.
    • 14:45 Mexico and Uruguay have met 17 times before, Mexico have won seven and lost three. There have been seven draws.
    • 14:40 Extra pressure for today's referee Viktor Kassai from Hungary.
    • 14:35 Of Mexico's starting 11 Gerardo Torrado, Francisco Rodriguez, Guillermo Franco and Hector Moreno are all on yellow cards and would miss the next game if booked, while for Uruguay, captain Diego Lugano and Victorino are in the same boat.
    • 14:30 A win for either side could mean the other's elimination depending on the score in the France v South Africa match being played at the same time. France's best hope would be for Mexico to lose but that would mean they would still have to overcome a four-goal deficit. For South Africa, it is even worse as they have a five-goal deficit. Follow all the action in Bloemfontein
    • 14:25 Uruguay and Mexico will be certain of qualifying if they draw their encounter but Mexico may have a vested interest in trying to win as that would make them group winners and thus avoid meeting the Group B table-toppers, probably Argentina, in the second round.
    • 14:20 Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez replaced Diego Godin with Mauricio Victorino in defence.
    • 14:15 The 37-year-old scored from the penalty spot in the 2-0 defeat of France last week, while Aguirre also brought Andres Guardado in for Efrain Juarez, suspended after picking up two yellow cards.
    • 14:10 Mexico coach Javier Aguirre brings Cuauhtemoc Blanco into his starting line-up and the forward will captain the side.
    • 14:05 Teams - Mexico: 1-Oscar Perez; 5-Ricardo Osorio, 15-Hector Moreno, 2-Francisco Rodriguez, 3-Carlos Salcido, 18-Andres Guardado, 4-Rafael Marquez, 6-Gerardo Torrado, 17-Giovani Dos Santos, 9-Guillermo Franco, 10-Cuauhtemoc Blanco /// Uruguay: 1-Fernando Muslera; 2-Diego Lugano, 6-Mauricio Victorino, 4-Jorge Fucile, 16-Maximiliano Pereira, 15-Diego Perez, 17-Egidio Arevalo, 7-Edinson Cavani, 11-Alvaro Pereira, 9-Luis Suarez, 10-Diego Forlan.
    • 14:00 Welcome to our coverage of the World Cup Group A match between Mexico and Uruguay at Royal Bafokeng in Rustenburg.
  • Summary

    • 87' Perez has to scramble across his goal to push Cavani's long-range dipper around the post.

  3. very good, 2 Latin America in Last 16.... if RSA win by 4-0, Mexico is out.... close call... luckily RSA win 2-1. I expect a draw between Mexico & Uruguay, in fact a win by Uruguay. If RSA really win 4-0 over France. Uruguay indirectly send Mexico home.... If this really happen, I don't support Uruguay in Last 16...
I don't remember which World Cup, the German win 1-0 over Austria (their fren) and send Algeria home, so that both friends German and Austria both qualify for last 16...
