    • 45+1' Half-time, and Kazakhstan lead Republic of Ireland 1-0. They fully deserve to be ahead from captain Kairat Nurdauletov's 37th minute header. Ireland have been one-dimensional and frankly awful.
    • 45' One minute of added time, and O'Shea fouls Shmidtgal on the halfway line.
    • 45' O'Dea sticks his leg into the goalkeeper's knee, and deservedly gets a yellow card.
    • 44' McGeady's corner comes out to Whelan, but Shmidtgal charges the ball down.
    • 44' Kazakhstan are just putting the men behind the ball, and Ireland are so one-dimensional with their long ball. But Keane wins a corner.
    • 43' Kirov heads away a McGeady cross from the left meant for Walters.
    • 41' Konysbayev forces a low save from Westwood, then Nuserbayev hits the follow-up onto the post. He was offside playing the second ball, though.
    • 40' O'Dea concedes another foul, this time near the centre circle. Shmidtgal's free-kick is cleared by Walters.
    • 38' No complaints about that. Kazakhstan have been on top for the last 20 minutes. Richard Dunne was missed in the centre of defence with that free-kick. You'd imagine the Honey Monster would have dealt with that cross.
    • 37' GOAL: KAZAKHSTAN 1-0 REPUBLIC OF IRELAND. A beautiful delivery from Shmidtgal and the captain Kairat Nurdauletov flicks the ball over Westwood and into the corner of the goal.
    • 36' Konysbayev is tripped by Ward on the right.
    • 35' Anatoli Bogdanov clears an O'Shea cross. Not a great delivery, but good to see O'Shea trying to get into the game on the attacking front.
    • 34' St Ledger makes room to get on the end of McGeady's floated corner, but is unable to get any power on the header.
    • 33' Ward's cross gets a deflection and it is Ireland's fifth corner.
    • 32' Nuserbayev sets up Shmidtgal on the left. He cuts inside but his shot is blocked by O'Dea.
    • 31' Kirov is able to head away McGeady's free-kick at the back post, under pressure from O'Dea.
    • 30' Ulan Konysbayev trips McGeady on the left wing, and another chance for Ireland from a set-piece.
    • 29' Nuserbayev leaves a boot in on O'Shea, and gets a yellow card.
    • 28' McGeady does brilliantly to get in a cross from the left, which Keane heads wide after an unseen shove from Rozhkov.
    • 27' Interestingly, neither St Ledger nor O'Dea went up for that free-kick.
    • 26' Whelan sends it to Cox, who puts the ball in towards O'Shea at the far post but it is cleared.
    • 25' Walters win a free-kick on the left, 35 yards out on the left.
    • 24' Ward steers a header back to Westwood, but there is little doubt that Kazakhstan are playing the better football now after a nervy start.

    • 22' Sean St Ledger climbs all over Ostapenko 40 yards out. Ostapenko's header from Shmidtgal's free-kick loops up and is caught by Westwood.

    • 16' Nuserbayev tries a reverse pass to Ostapenko which is just cleared by an Ireland boot.
    • 15' Shmidtgal gets the ball down the left and arrows in a lovely ball that is crying out for a header but no Kazakhstan attacker is there in the box.
    • 13' Rozhkov tries a long ball but Darren O'Dea is able to head back to Kieren Westwood.
    • 12' Free-kick to Ireland that is wasted by McGeady and Glenn Whelan, who dinks the ball up far to close to Sidelnikov.
    • 11' Tanat Nusrbayev drives through the centre but his ball into he right channel just evades left-back Aleksandr Kirov.

  3. why is trappatoni still in a job, after the terrible­ showing at the euro's why has he not down the­ honourable thing and stepped down or even for that­ matter why has the fa not sacked, how can he possibly­ take the team forward, what is anyone expecting? its a­ joke, even if we get through the qualifers, i for one­ wont be bragging about, im sure we'll be the first­ one's home again.

  7. Pathetic from Kazakhstan players. They were rolling on­ the pitch, faking serious injuries just to steal some­ time. Eventually it didn't pay. But to be honest­ Irish team didn't show much commitment and passion.­ I hope they'll improve before next fixture.­ Greetings from Poland.
