    • 40' Into the final five minutes of the half.
    • 39' Swiss have plenty of possession, but no purpose to their play.

    • 10' Inler finally gets s shot away, but drags that wide of the target.
    • 9' Swiss making a surge forward here after a period of possession.
    • 8' The Swiss coach Hitzfeld is well wrapped up on the touchline. This match is not exactly one to warm the soul.
    • 7' No shots on goal yet.
    • 6' Honduras are a side of limited ability, but the Swiss are not overflowing with natual goalscorers. Might not be one for the purists here.
    • 5' Crunching tackle by Palacios on Huggel. Lucky to avoid a booking there.
    • 4' A booking for Thomas for a late tackle on Gokhan Inler.
    • 3' This stadium was built in 1952. Not a full house in here tonight.
    • 2' Switzerland have lost their last two matches against Central American teams, against USA (0-1) and Costa Rica (0-1).
    • 1' We are underway here. What a night in prospect.
    • 19:25 The teams are trotting out here for the last night of the group stages.
    • 19:20 Switzerland broke the World Cup record for most minutes without conceding a goal against Chile. They kept a clean sheet for 558 minutes before conceding against the South Americans, breaking Italy’s record by nine minutes.
    • 19:15 Honduras have not scored a goal in their last four matches. Their last goal was scored by George Welcome in a 2-2 friendly draw against Belarus on 27 May.
    • 19:10 Switzerland are led by a German head coach in Ottmar Hitzfeld at the World Cup for the first time since 1938, when Karl Rappan held the reins.
    • 19:05 This is Honduras’ second World Cup. After drawing 1-1 with Spain and Northern Ireland and losing 1-0 against Yugoslavia in 1982 and two losses in this edition Honduras are still looking for their first World Cup victory
    • 19:00 These teams have never met before in an official match. Honduras have played 15 matches against European opponents, winning only three (Denmark, Latvia and Slovenia). They never beat a European team at the World Cup.
    • 18:55 Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda makes six changes to the side that lost 2-0 to European champions Spain last time out. Prolific striker Carlos Pavon is again named as a substitute.
    • 18:50 Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has put his faith in strike pair Eren Derdiyok and Blaise Nkufo. Team captain Alexander Frei will start on the bench, while Tranquillo Barnetta replaces the suspended Valon Behrami. Imposing centre back Philippe Senderos remains sidelined with an ankle injury so Steve von Bergen continues to deputise.
    • 18:45 Honduras can only qualify if they beat Switzerland by at least two goals and if Chile beat Spain by at least two goals. Goal difference and goals scored will then be the tie-breakers between Honduras and Spain. If both Spain and Switzerland win, three teams finish Group H on six points and goal difference will be the first tie-breaker followed by goals scored.
    • 18:40 The referee is Hector Baldassi of Argentina.
    • 18:35 Teams: Switzerland: 1-Diego Benaglio; 2-Stephan Lichtsteiner, 13-Stephane Grichting, 5-Steve Von Bergen, 17-Reto Ziegler; 7-Tranquillo Barnetta, 8-Gokhan Inler, 6-Benjamin Huggel, 16-Gelson Fernandes; 19-Eren Derdiyok, 10-Blaise Nkufo. It's a toss up as to who I'd like to see win USA vs. Ghana tomorrow night because the Yanks have really fought to get where they are, and were admittedly, cheated of goals along the way, but it'd be great if an African team could win.

  17. Vamos catrachos! Would be nice to see the 'new guys' take home some points. They've really only begun putting players in Europe's top leagues. Beating Mexico & the US shows they have some talent. Palacios is on Madrid's radar. Not a contender to win in the next 2-3 cups, but they could make some noise in Brazil if they continue to develop higher level players. I don't think European countries are growing in football the way South and Central America continue to develop.
