- The big question ahead of qualifying, is can Toyota repair the problem which led to Timo Glock, the fastest man in the session, beaching his car following what looked to be an electrical fault? The team say they are unsure at present - they have two hours to change that! Rejoin us then for qualifying, where Jenson Button in particular, will need to improve.
- So at the end of free practice 3, Glock leads Massa, Rosberg, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Piquet, Kubica, Nakajima, Trulli and Heidfeld. Jenson Button is down in 15th, one place ahead of his Brawn team-mate Rubens Barrichello.
- Out of nowhere Robert Kubica stole into seventh from obscurity, with Felipe Massa taking second and Nico Rosberg third.
- With soft tyres, Alonso goes 13th, while Glock has a real problem with his Toyota as he holds on to top spot with a 1:32.605.
- Massa, currently running on the super-softs, goes second while Toyota apparently have no idea what caused the problem which forced Glock to pull his car aside.
- Nico Rosberg steals back into second place behind Glock, while Fisichella goes 13th.
- Piquet looks to be on a good lap, while his team-mate Fernando Alonso is still loitering in the pitlane.
- Glock is throwing his arms about in dismay at his problem, which looks to have been electrical, and costs him another hot lap on the softs, for now.
- Raikkonen edges faster than his team-mate Felipe Massa into third, while Timo Glock beaches his car and climbs out of it to push with a steward.
- Raikkonen is on a very fast lap on soft tyres, like most of the drivers at this point.
- Kovalainen improves to fourth on the soft tyres, while his compatriot Raikkonen, heads back out.
- Indeed, Glock goes fastest on the super-soft tyres, recording a 1:32.605 time in his Toyota, who tested here in pre-season lest we forget.
- Hamilton has been the quickest through each of the sectors incidentally, while Timo Glock looks to be on a flyer.
- Turns nine and 10 are continuing to present a copious amount of problems for the drivers, particularly the very tight 10th.
- Kimi Raikkonen requires his Ferrari to be seen to, while Massa spins on turn 10 yet again.
- Button and Barrichello, the Brawn duo, are languishing down in 12th and 16th respectively, with work to do.
- Nakajima loses a rear wheel insert as he endures a slow lap, while Hamilton presses for another hot lap with soft tyres.
- Massa jumps significantly up into second behind the flying MacLaren, recording a 1:33.770 in his Ferrari.
- Webber moves up four places into 12th with a 1:34.840, while Hamilton makes another gain to 1:32.970
- The Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen goes second fastest with a 1:34.070, while Buemi moves up two places into seventh.
- Kovalainen has pitted, while Mark Webber is looking ominous in his Red Bull, on course for a good lap.
- A gain for Piquet gives him fifth position, before he locks his breaks on the start of the subsequent lap. Alonso makes a small gain, but he is on hard tyres.
- Kimi Raikkonen looks to be on another quick lap, with the fastest first-sector time so far.
- Fernando Alonso is still down in 20th spot, but don't read too much into that. If you followed yesterday's session, the Renault driver came from nowhere to clinch the second fastest time.
- Hamilton now pits, leaving just Kovalainen, Piquet, Trulli and Fisichella who are yet to rejoing their team in the pits so far.
- Timo Glock nips back into the pits to change the tyres on his Toyota, while Kovalainen goes fourth in his MacLaren.
- Now Hamilton continues his 'productivity', recording the fastest lap of the session at present, with a 1:33.999.
- Vettel locks his brakes as he slows down on his current lap, while Fernando Alonso, who finished second in yesterday's session, pits after a brief foray on the track.
- Jenson Button goes fifth with his latest lap of 1:34.619. The Brit's Brawn team-mate Rubens Barrichello is languishing down in 11th.
- Hoorah! Kovalainen finally makes his belated bow, while Adrian Sutil looks to continue his promising form as he begins a hot lap in his Force India.
- Lewis Hamilton describes his performance thus far in Bahrain as "consistent and productive", and he backs that up in part, with a second fastest lap.
- Glock goes fastest with a 1:34.115, with Sebastian Vettel in second. Lewis Hamilton enters the fray.
- And Buemi goes third with a sharp lap, while Button can only muster a time worthy of tenth spot.
- Buemi, Button and Nakajima now head out, with Nico Rosberg setting the second fastest lap so far. Still no sign of Heikki Kovalainen.
- Piquet pips Glock to second fastest, before the Toyota driver goes top with a 1:34.386. Trulli sets the third best time at this early stage.
- And Kimi Raikkonen sets the current fastest lap, with a 1:34.935, while Timo Glock takes second.
- Massa records a sluggish 1:36 lap, with Trulli, Glock and Raikkonen in hot pursuit.
- Felipe Massa, who was 16th fastest yesterday, is on the first timed lap of the session in his Ferrari.
- All but the stricken Kovalainen have completed their installation laps, with MacLaren's Martin Whitmarsh citing a minor engine problem which is being corrected.
- Massa has had more problems today, locking up on his initial lap, and running wide on turn 10, which he is not alone in having done so far on this circuit.
- Only Rubens Barrichello and Lewis Hamilton to head out, as the rest have either finished their installation lap, or are currently on one.
- Heikki Kovalainen is having his MacLaren pushed back into the garage after he was left stationary on the edge of the pitlane.
- Adrian Sutil was a surprise seventh fastest in yesterday's practice session, and he will be looking to replicate that today, as half of the drivers are straight out onto the track.
- Free practice three is underway, as the Force India of Giancarlo Fisichella leads us out.
- The track temperature at the Sakhir circuit is a staggering 47 degrees, with an air temperature of 36 degrees in Bahrain. The drivers are receiving some intensive fan treatment before they begin practice.
- This final free practice session represents the last opportunity for the teams and drivers to prepare in earnest for qualifying at 12.00 UK time on the Sakhir circuit.
- Welcome to the third session of free practice at the Bahrain Grand Prix, with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg having topped the previous two respectively.

McLaren are fast, no doubt about that. Ferrari, still slow, but their goal is to gain at least one point. The question about McLaren and the others is: are they fast on a short term or they can keep up to Brawn, Red Bull and Toyota all the race?
