- Well we are going to end our live comments here but stay logged onto eurosport.yahoo.co.uk because we will have all the reports, reaction, pictures, and aftermath from this sensational race. Thanks for joining us all season.
- The podium presentation going on now - Hamilton is not there of course but he doesn't care he is the YOUNGEST F1 CHAMPION of all time.
- Mixed emotions all around - that has to have been one of the most dramatic races of all time. Some of the home fans booing Hamilton which is a shame.
- Ferrari have won the constructors championship but that can not be much consolation at this stage.
- Just a couple of corners from the end Glock on his slicks just couldn't hang on so Hamilton was able to overtake him to take the championship!! The final standings is Massa, Alonso, Raikkonen, Vettel, HAMILTON!! Glock lost 18 seconds on the final lap.
END
HAMILTON HAS FINISHED FIFTH - HE HAS OVERTAKEN GLOCK - The Ferrari camp think they have won it but they are wrong - HAMILTON IS THE WORLD CHAMPION.
71/71
GLOCK HAS FADED - GLOCK HAS FADED
71/71 MASSA IS GOING TO WIN THE RACE - Hamilton is sixth!!
71/71 FINAL LAP - HAMILTON NEEDS A PLACE - HE NEEDS A PLACE!!!
69/71 Glock in fourth is on slicks though!!! But Hamilton needs to find a place....
69/71 VETTEL HAS OVERTAKEN HAMILTON!!!
69/71 Massa - Alonso - Raikkonen - Glock now fourth - VETTEL RIGHT WITH HAMILTON - two laps to go - Hamilton has fourth though.
68/71 THREE LAPS TO GO VETTEL IS CLOSING ON HAMILTON - if he overtakes Hamilton - Massa will take the championship.
67/71 HAMILTON IS STILL IN FIFTH - Vettel behind him - he just needs to hold position. He could do with some rain though.
67/71 MASSA COMES IN A LAP LATER THAN HAMILTON - there are others who have not come in though - it is all very confusing - the rain isn't that strong. We have FOUR LAPS TO GO.
67/71 HAMILTON AND VETTEL COME IN TOO
67/71 RAIKKONEN AND ALONSO both come in....
66/71 VETTEL HAVING A GO AT HAMILTON BUT HAMILTON IS DEFENDING THE RAIN IS GETTING HARDER - FIVE LAPS TO GO
65/71 Vettel right up on Hamilton now - and Heidfeld takes a gamble from 12th and changes tires. SIX LAPS LEFT
64/71 The drivers focus on the road - everyone else is looking at the sky - still not heavy enough to force anyone in.
63/71
Eight laps to go and it is starting to rain in the paddock - it is starting to rain!!
61/71 JUST 10 LAPS TO GO NOW - It is Lewis v the elements. Raikkonen starting to close a bit on Alonso. Vettel hasn't been able to get closer to Hamilton.
60/71 No change in positions - no rain either - but the clouds are getting darker.
59/71 If it does rain just before the end do you take a risk and try and stay out there? The rain might not come at all of course. Wow - the tension is building - 12 laps to go.
57/71 Kubica's radio now says "could rain in 10 minutes" - we could be set for some late, late drama - the race should go on for another 15 minutes or so.
56/71
ANOTHER TWIST!! A voice has just come on Alonso's radio "there may be rain" - oh my what fun could that bring?
55/71 Piquet and Coulthard still the only drivers forced to retire and that was on the first corner!! More good signs for Hamilton but let us not jink it.
54/71 Vettel is less than three seconds behind Hamilton - Hamilton can afford to let him pass though - the Brit is in fourth and I know we keep repeating it - but fifth is all he needs.
53/71 The standings with 18 laps to go and no more stops we reckon - 1. Massa 2. Alonso 3. Raikkonen 4. Hamilton 5. Vettel (who is closing down on Hamilton) 6. Kovalainen.
52/71 IN COMES VETTEL - just 6.4 seconds for the stop - but he comes back out well behind Hamilton - so Hamilton is now UP TO FOURTH - remember he only needs to finish in the top five.
51/71 JUST 20 LAPS TO GO - and dare we say it - as long as Hamilton doesn't have a technical problem he should become World Champion.
49/71 Vettel is closing a bit on Massa but that is because he has less fuel.
48/71 23 laps to go now...the race has settled down - Vettel is 19 seconds ahead of Hamilton with an extra stop to go - so Hamilton could earn another spot there. It looks now like the leaders are not going to stop again - only Vettel.
46/71 Massa looks all set to romp to victory - he is still going faster that Vettel and has a big lead now - but Hamilton does not need to do anything fancy - still very much in his own hands.
44/71 Raikkonen comes out ahead of Hamilton - so it is Massa, Vettel, Alonso, Raikkonen and then Hamilton - we know Vettel will need to stop at least once more - the others may have enough juice. Still looking good for Hamilton.
43/71 Raikkonen pits so Massa is back in front.
42/71 Alonso's pit team says "Vettel will pit again" in a way that suggests that they will NOT - can some of these cars last with just two stops. Kovalainen pits.
41/71 Hamilton comes out in sixth behind Vettel and Kovalainen and away from any big traffic - he will take that. Vettel out of sequence pit wise with the rest and of course Kovalainen will sacrifice himself.
40/71 IN COMES ALONSO AND HAMILTON - RAIKKONEN GOES for one more lap. Alonso with a short stop - Hamilton quite short too - 8.9 seconds - they will have to pit again too.
39/71 So Alonso leads from Raikkonen and Hamilton out on the track - and then comes Massa with an extra stop under his belt.
38/71 AND IN COMES MASSA FOR HIS STOP - and he is out in 9.4 seconds - he will need to stop again you feel - he can't have fuelled to the finish.
37/71 Glock takes 15 seconds in the pits and comes out in 14 and into a hell of a lot of traffic.
36/71 Another fastest lap from Massa AND GLOCK PITS.
35/71 Glock and Vettel are both behind Hamilton so they are the danger but Massa is starting to romp away - he looks to be doing his job.
33/71 And now Massawith the fastest lap - still waiting for the leaders to come into the pits for their second stops - that will be the next big moment.
32/71 Well now it is Timo Glock's turn to produce the fastest lap but Hamilton still has a bit of space on the German.
31/71 Another good sign Hamilton has just had the fastest lap - he looks to have got his tactics right here.
30/71 Massa getting close to the back markers so far. He is looking good but the problem for him is that it is all going to plan for Hamilton too.
29/71 With Vettel having made that stop Hamilton is now in fourth position so that gives him even more breathing space. Glock in fifth needs fuel too.
28/71 Kovalainen has cut a path up the seventh and he could soon be in a position to help Hamilton.
27/71 Vettel pits from second place - that seems a little early - that could be good news for Hamilton.
26/71 Glock is getting a little closer to Hamilton - he is the big danger to the Brit at the moment.
25/71 Hamilton remains fifth and out of trouble - Fischella, Trulli and Kovalainen battling for seventh.
24/71 Massa has now just had the fastest lap - Vettel still pushing but Alonso has dropped back a bit.
23/71 Still no change - they have just shown a clip of the Hamilton camp in the pits - some nervous looking faces.
22/71 Hamilton doing ok out there in fifth but he is not very fast - let us hope it is due to his fuel. He is over 17 seconds behind Massa.
21/71 Vettel has been faster than Massa on the last two laps and is closing on the home favourite.
20/71 Bourdais is attacking Fisichella who is starting to drop. But it is Trulli who then comes up ahead of Bourdais who is pushed off the track and he drops back a few places.
19/71 Massa, Vettel, Alonso - then a gap to Raaikonen and then Hamilton. Glock now just two seconds behind Hamilton after overtaking Fizzy.
18/71 Vettel has just had the fastest lap and he is getting closer to Massa and a voice on the radio says "no more rain expected."
17/71 Massa, Vettel and Alonso are close together with Alonso the fastest car out there - HAMILTON HAS A GO AT FISICHELLA - and he overtakes him!! Aggressive stuff but he is in fifth and that will be good enough.
16/71 Raikkonen has pulled a bit ahead of Fisichella - Hamilton right on the tail of the Italian - who would have thought a Force India would be in his way???
15/71 Massa looking good out there as Hamilton tries to get up close to Fisichella - another twist of course could be more rain?
14/71 Raikkonen is backing up the group of Fisichella and Hamilton so that Massa, Vettel and Alonso can go out ahead. Hamilton might have to get a little bit more aggressive. If the race finished now Massa would be champ.
13/71 So the standings are: Massa, Vettel, Alonso, Raikkonen, FISICHELLA (who was the first on slicks) and then Hamilton.
12/71 The conditions are tricky out there Hamilton takes Trulli who slips a few places after a little spin. Not easy on those slicks.
11/71 Trulli, Raikkonen and Hamilton all come in and there is no drama BUT the trio come out BEHIND Vettel, Alonso and EVEN FISICHELLA - Hamilton is down in seventh.
10/71 MASSA COMES IN - Trulli, Raikkonen and Hamilton will wait another lap though.
9/71 Vettel and Alonso both take a gamble and go into the pits early. Fisichella is starting to lap very well - time to get on slicks.
8/71 Hamilton getting closer to Raikkonen in third now - more and more cars are starting to pit expect the leaders soon.
7/71 Massa has extended his lead and Raikkonen is starting to challenge Trulli. Hamilton looks comfortable back in fourth. Webber up two to ninth and Roseberg who survived that opening incident is in the pits.
6/71 Hamilton is not keeping up with the top three - dropping closer to Vettel that could be a fuel issue. Massa has had the fastest lap.
5/71 Massa leads by 0.95 from Trulli but Hamilton is doing ok back in fourth with a bit of room to do his thing.
4/71 Back racing properly now as the safety car departs. Alonso and Kovalainen briefly swap positions. Fisichella has pitted onto slicks.
2/71 So a bit of calm around the track now - as the safety car takes charge. Vettel has moved up to fifth and Alonso stays sixth with Kovalainen dropping to seventh after protecting Hamilton at the start. Coulthard actually collided with Roseberg with Piquet involved in a different incident. Nakajima also out in the Coutlhard incident which seemed to be Roseberg's fault.
1/71
COULTHARD AND PIQUET ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AT THE FIRST CORNER - the safety car will have to come out already as a result and that means that David Coulthard's career is over - what a shame his final race lasted just one corner.
1/71
And Hamilton holds onto his position...he is through in fourth but Kovalainen has slipped back with Massa clear in front.
- Kubica has already pitted - he went out on dries and needs to change.
-
So hold onto your hats folks here we go with the start...this is for all the marbles.
- It looks like everybody has gone with intermediates and they are off for their formation lap.
- The safety car has just done the lap of the circuit and it is really inconsistent out there. Some parts of the track are wet and other parts dry. Cries of "ole, ole, ole" from the home fans - they are having fun out there.
- The word down on the grid says that there should be no more rain for 30-40 minutes? What to do? What to do? Race to start in seven minutes or so.
- The problem with going with intermediates here is that because the sun is so intense in Sao Paulo the track dries very quickly. It looks like that shower has passed but it was a very heavy shower. A big decision for the teams to make.
-
Did I say the weather was clear? Well the rain has just come out of nowhere and this is all happening just before the formation lap. The start has been delayed by 10 minutes so the teams can decide whether they want to change to wets or intermediates. What a twist because the sun should come back out very quickly.
- There was some fears that there could be a drop of rain today but the cloud overhead is breaking up all the time so we should have a clear race. That has to suit Hamilton as it is one less thing that could go wrong.
- The Brazil anthem just been played at the moment as we get closer to go time. The sun is shining at Interlagos.
- If Hamilton can avoid the disasters of last year he will become the youngest-ever world champion and Britain's first since 1996.
- Let's remind you of the grid: 1. Massa (Ferrari) 2. Trulli (Toyota) 3. Raikkonen (Ferrari) 4. Hamilton (McLaren) 5. Kovalainen (McLaren) 6. Alonso (Renault) 7. Vettel (Toro Rosso) 8. Heidfeld (BMW Sauber)
- Great excitement at Interlagos as you would expect. The vast majority of the crowd are going to be cheering for Massa who starts in pole. He needs to win the race or finish second or Hamilton is champion no matter what!
- Welcome to LIVE coverage of the Brazil GP! We will bring you lap-by-lap updates as Lewis Hamilton looks to clinch his first world championship by finishing fifth or better. The lights go green at 17.00 UK time - join us then!

Brawn you're the best. Even without Ferrari. Good luck.
Congratulation Jenson. All the way to the end. Better car next year.
It was just as well for Alonso that he didn't meet Sutil's car head on when it when it came back on to the track as there was potential for a fatal accident. It was probably the best race of the season by far.
It is unfortunate however, that the Brazilians are such bad losers. During his interview with Lee Mackenzie of the BBC, Lewis Hamilton was being pelted with objects. It was not his fault that Barrichello had a puncture to his left rear. His brilliant overtaking move down the pit straight was seen from various angles and I could not see how the McClaren had tapped the Brawn.I thought Vettel was fortunate to finish where he was given his blatant shunt on Kovalainen at the start which should have been investigated. Kobyashi was also fortunate as he was blatantly weaving Nakajaima came up from behind. Again there could have been a fatal accident.
Joe
i love kimi............
Congrats to all the drivers.
Very well done Jeson. Congratulation
FROM COLOMBIA.
Watchngi BBC3 highlights...
how wonderful a guy is Jenson. Well done to him. Brawny is in tears! Unreal. Mercedes have got F1 sewn up at the mo. Chuckle re Rubens being taken out by Hammy, so unlucky but it would not have made any difference.
Sublime driving.
Revised results after Kovalainen assessed a penalty of 25 second
for his unsafe release from the McLaren pits.
Kamui Kobayashi - 9
Giancarlo Fisichella - 10
Vitantonio Liuzzi - 11
Heikki Kovalainen - 12
all these bad losers moaning about a poor season they are probably ferrari or hamilton fans all i can say is take it like a man and be gracius in defeat.the best car and the best driver over this season won.
this is the worst year of F1; all the regulations just made the sport even worst than before
This season is WITHOUT A DOUBT the most BORING and predictable one in all my years as an F1 fan. It's hardly worth watching anymore.
I'm not impressed
Finally good race of Robert Kubica
Who is the real champion, for my money Hamilton he comes from the back of the field to finish third. that is the mark of a real champion
ohh sorry , Jenson i meant of course lol
Well done Jeson!
