  1. - Thanks for joining us. F1 returns in three weeks for the German GP at the Nurburgring; in the meantime you can follow all the plotting and intrigue on uk.eurosport.yahoo.com.

  2. 60/60 Barrichello third ahead of Massa, Rosberg, Button, Trulli and Raikkonen. Lewis Hamilton 16th.

  3. 60/60 SEBASTIAN VETTEL WINS!! A perfect performance from the German - how about that for a statement of intent? Mark Webber makes it a Red Bull one-two!

  4. 60/60 Final lap for Vettel - he has been absolutely masterful this afternoon. It's now or never for Button in his quest for fifth.

  5. 59/60 The dirty air from Rosberg's Williams is keeping Button at bay - frustrating stuff.

  6. 57/60 Button is just 0.8 seconds behind Rosberg the flags are waving, the horns are sounding. Meanwhile, Vettel is well on his way to a crushing win.

  7. 56/60 The crowd are making a real racket as Button chases down Rosberg. Fifth might bit be a great result, but you never know what an extra point might mean at the end of the season.

  8. 55/60 You know what? Button might just get Rosberg. He is only 2.5 seconds behind with six seconds to go, and is catching him quickly.

  9. 53/60 Jenson Button, belatedly, is the fastest man on the track, but it is a long way to Nico Rosberg.

  10. 52/60 How they stand: 1-Vettel, 2-Webber, 3-Barrichello, 4-Massa, 5-Rosberg, 6-Button, 7-Trulli, 8-Raikkonen, 9-Glock, 10-Fisichella.

  11. 50/60 Button pits for the second time and re-emerges in sixth place.

  12. 49/60 Massa is in sixth ahead of Rosberg after that little reshuffle, with Button and Glock still to pit.

  13. 48/60 Webber pits, and comes back out into second place. What a race for Red Bull.

  14. 47/60 Vettel has pitted, Webber leads provisionally but needs to take another stop.

  15. 46/60 Massa pits from fifth place... a relatively good afternoon so far for the Ferrari.

  16. 45/60 Hamilton actually spun, and did well to return promptly to the track. Jenson Button is on course for three points, which could be crucial to his world championship bid.

  17. 44/60 Hamilton runs off! The champ pushes too hard and that will cost him some places. Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger doesn't look best pleased. She should elope with Vettel...

  18. 42/60 Sebastian Vettel leads by 17.8 seconds from Webber, with Barrichello another 19 seconds adrift. Nico Rosberg is on target for a superb fourth-placed finish.

  19. 41/60 Vettel is just cruising this. Phenomenal effort, and Webber has equally clear track ahead of him in second.

  20. 40/60 Not much movement, although we have the drama of another set of pit stops. You know, if you conisder that drama.

  21. 38/60 Heikki Kovalainen has too much damage to the back of his car and he is forced to retire.

  22. 37/60 There is shrapnel on the track in the shape of Bourdais's front wing. That could easily cause a puncture.

  23. 36/60 Both Bourdais and Kovalainen make their way into the pits for running repairs.

  24. 35/60 WALLOP!!! Bourdais runs into the back of Kovalainen after the McLaren man swerves across. The Toro Rosso man has lost his front wing and Kovalainen has a left rear puncture.

  25. 33/60 It doesn't say much for this race that the most compelling battle is right at the back of the field, but there you go.

  26. 32/60 Alonso gets his revenge on Hamilton, clawing his way back in front of his arch-rival.

  27. 30/60 Hamilton makes a move on Alonso... gets him!! Now he has a go at Piquet. The crowd are on their feet at last. That was to take 17th place, it should be remembered.

  28. 29/60 Vettel has slowed significantly, and his crew are telling him to preserve his tyres. The German is now lapping over a second slower than earlier in the race.

  29. 27/60 How they stand: 1-Vettel, 2-Webber, 3-Barrichello, 4-Rosberg, 5-Massa, 6-Trulli, 7-Raikkonen, 8-Button, 9-Nakajima, 10-Fisichella.

  30. 26/60 Barrichello has slipped back and is now four seconds behind Webber. Button, meanwhile, is complaining of understeer.

  31. 25/60 Felipe Massa is up to fifth after that 23-lap opening stint. Good stuff from the Ferrari man.

  32. 23/60 Hamilton.... brilliant move on Heidfeld, going round the outside of the German at 190mph! Wow!

  33. 22/60 The leader Sebastian Vettel comes in and has enough time for a cup of tea before going back out. He is well on his way to a crushing victory. He rejoins well in front of Massa, the last major player who has not pitted yet.

  34. 21/60 In comes Webber - can he get back out in front of Barrichello? YES!! Barrichello is all over the back of the Australian but there is no way through!

  35. 20/60 Now Barrichello comes in... Webber has stayed out and will be looking to do enough to overhaul the Brazilian in the pits.

  36. 20/60 Button pits... he comes out just behind Kimi Raikkonen and ahead of Rosberg.

  37. 19/60 Vettel continues to lap at around 1:20.8 - a full second better than everyone else.

  38. 18/60 Lewis Hamilton tells his pit crew, with more than a hint of frustration: "I have no grip." He is still tucked up behind Kubica in 14th place.

  39. 16/60 Nakajima pits from fourth - the first man to do so. A 9.1 second stop, no problems there.

  40. 15/60 Interesting times just around the corner in the shape of pit stops. Felipe Massa is being told Jenson Button will pit in around four laps.

  41. 14/60 Another fastest lap for Vettel, who is now 14.5 seconds clear. It might be a procession, but at least the car is a different colour than usual.

  42. 13/60 How they stand ahead of the first pit stop: 1-Vettel, 2-Barrichello, 3-Webber, 4-Nakajima, 5-Raikkonen, 6-Rosberg,7-Trulli, 8-Button.

  43. 11/60 Lewis Hamilton's McLaren is hitting its rev limiter, and that is why he cannot make it past Kubica.

  44. 10/60 Hamilton is being told of Robert Kubica: "You have to get past him." You don't say... the BMW man is running a longer first stint.

  45. 9/60 Vettel continues to pull out a second a lap, and it is virtually race over if he keeps this up.

  46. 8/60 The only bright spot for Brawn is that Rubens Barrichello is still in front of Mark Webber. Button is still all the way back in eighth.

  47. 7/60 Vettel is storming clear - he is six seconds ahead of Barrichello and has set another fastest lap. What a start from the German...

  48. 6/60 Heidfeld is slow and is accumulating quite a queue of traffic behind him - first among those is Fernando Alonso.

  49. 5/60 Nick Heidfeld is being told he needs a new front wing, but the German does not want to come in!

  50. 4/60 An Alonso error forces Hamilton onto the grass - Alonso keeps his position and Kubica comes through! Nightmare for Lewis Hamilton.

  51. 3/60 Massa runs wide on the exit of Stowe and Button goes through into eighth!

  52. 2/60 Massa up to eighth - that's KERS at work. Button is already seven seconds back. Fisichella overtakes Kubica and Alonso in one fell swoop! And Hamilton is now all over the back of Alonso!

  53. 1/60 GO!!! Vettel defends first place and Button has had a nightmare start! He is down to ninth! Barrichello is second, Webber third. Raikkonen up to fifth.

  54. - The drivers are off on their formation lap. There are sunny spells and no sign of rain. A tremendous noise from the crowd.

  2. i disagree with mo1998uk , put Button and Hamilton in the same car and Button would win hands down ...... Hamilton has only ever driven a Maclaren , Button has drove Williams , Renault , BAR , Honda and now Brawn more experienced

  7. I'm not turning against Lewis Hamilton at all he will always be number one in my eyes. I'm British but i dont really like Jenson, i dont think hes as good as he thinks he is. Put Lewis and Jenson in an equal car and Lewis would win hands down, hes just a more talented driver.

  8. Button had a @#$% car for so many years and he always had a smile on his face the same as he does now winning races , he would make a great F1 champ ......

Hamilton had a great car last year and was all smiles , this year he has a @#$% car and is like a spoilt kid .....

  10. Re: Netzer (Comment 12)- I had thought that I had seen and read almost everything, but obviously not. A religious zealot, who obviously has not got a brain in his head, attempting to preach his idiotic fanatical views about a Formula 1 race!

  11. Is the pace, or lack thereof, of the BMWs, McLarens, and Renaults to show no desire to be in Formula 1 as it stands now? Could they be backing off spending money and performance to show Max and Bernie their stand?

  14. WTF, Poor Jens! 6th place to 9th place to 8th place! No win for him today! Bless him. I still love him and will always support him through the good and the bad times. I don't like Lewis but i do feel sorry for him, even his own fans are turning on him now! Button is Jesus or a God of somekind, he can walk on water............so he can certainly whip vettels arse! he just needs to let him be infront for a while to make it more of a contest, before he takes him out on the straight.

  20. Netzer, ur the racist! I'm white and support Lewis Hamilton 100% regardless of creed or colour and so does so many other people in the UK. Your words really offend me and your really out of order. You have no idea what your on about and like previous comments there are worse things going on in the world than F1. I'm not a religous person but i respect that you are but you go too far, do you really think god cares about F1?!! Grow up, get a life and i think you need to get back in touch with reality because you've obviously lost this along the way
