- Thanks for joining us!
- Jenson Button and Mark Webber join Sebastian Vettel in being handed their heavily-sponsored baseball caps on the podium.
- A triumphant Sebastian Vettel punches the air as he jumps on to his Red Bull and shakes hands with Mark Webber.
- Kovalainen and Hamilton finish fifth and sixth respectively, while Timo Glock takes seventh, and Buemi eighth.
- Jenson Button comes through in third, with his Brawn team-mate Rubens Barrichello in fourth.
-
Sebastian Vettel wins the Chinese Grand Prix! It is a Red Bull one-two as Mark Webber comes through in second. Team prinicipal Christian Horner waves his arms in glee to acknowledge his victorious drivers.
56/56 The Red Bull duo continue to back off as they thread their way through the multitude of puddles and in poor visibility to take their cars home.
55/56 Vettel seems to even be pushing on as his powers towards the finish in his Red Bull. It is his for the winning now, as he seems composed, coming round for a final time.
54/56 Vettel and Webber must hold their nerve and concentration as they look to secure this Red Bull one-two, with Buemi and Glock continuing to vie for seventh spot.
54/56 Buemi challenges Glock for seventh spot, as Button and Barrichello seem unable to put much pressure on the two Red Bull cars in front of them.
53/56 Vettel heeds the warning from his team, easing off slightly as Barrichello posts the latest fastest lap. Meanwhile, Buemi is in eighth and remains in a points-scoring position.
53/56 The worn tyres are really struggling in the drenched conditions, as Vettel receives anguished warnings from his Red Bull team to consolidate his lead and get the car home safely.
52/56 From sixth to nowhere for the unfortunate Sutil, with four laps remaining, as Hamilton gleefully capitalises to move into sixth.
51/56 Barrichello has found some additional pace as he moves out in front of Kovalainen, while Sutil flies off the track in a spin to let Hamilton through - a real shame for the Force India driver.
51/56 Hamilton lost ground there as his car lurched to the right and he battled to keep it straight, with Sutil passing, while Rosberg pits for wet tyres.
50/56 Barrichello did not change his tyres in that last pit stop, and they now appear worn, with Hamilton slipping down to seventh after struggling to control his MacLaren.
49/56 Rosberg spins and resumes, but that will have cost him valuable seconds, while Buemi challenges with Timo Glock.
49/56 Webber is nearly 14 seconds behind Vettel, who is streaking ahead in his Red Bull, with Button a long way behind the pair.
48/56 Both MacLarens are right behind Rubens Barrichello, who is being targeted after a sluggish few laps. The Brazilian is considerably slower than his team-mate.
47/56 As Piquet receives another front wing, Glock runs wide and loses time to Heidfeld.
47/56 Piquet spins off again and enters the pits, and surely his day is done after this latest set-back. Lewis Hamilton goes off the track once more, Kovalainen being allowed through into fifth at the expense of his team-mate.
46/56 Buemi pits from fourth, while Sutil puts pressure on Heidfeld and Glock, with ten laps remaining.
46/56 Nakajima has officially retired, while Raikkonen is chasing Alonso, who in turn is chasing Glock.
45/56 Vettel and Webber are looking good for a one-two for Red Bull, but Button and Barrichello may have something left for the closing stages to spring a surprise.
44/56 Nakajima pits once more, and it looks as if his race may be over. Glock and Heidfeld are battling hard for ninth spot with the BMW driver holding it for now.
44/56 Lewis Hamilton passes Buemi and moves into sixth, behind Barrichello, with Kovalainen in seventh, hanging on to his team-mate.
43/56 Rubens Barrichello exits the pits in fifth after taking a swift stop from third. Rosberg is lapping at a very impressive pace back in 14th on his intermediates.
43/56 Nakajima pits from 16th, with Rosberg looking to be on intermediate tyres, and Button on full wets.
42/56 Button pits now from second, exiting in fourth, with his team-mate Barrichello behind the Red Bull pair.
42/56 Rosberg pits from 13th, as Alonso also passes Raikkonen with a tidy move on the inside. Watching replays of Vettel's pass on Button, his exit from turn 13 was superb.
41/56 Vettel passes Button! Despite the Brawn driver having to pit again, Vettel slips inside him into turn 14 to clinch top spot.
41/56 So Jenson Button leads, having had only one stop so far in his Brawn, keeping Vettel at bay, while Timo Glock passes Raikkonen into turn 14.
41/56 Vettel is right with Button now, as Webber exits the pits in third spot.
40/56 The big question is whether Button and/or Barrichello need to stop again, it looks like the British driver will certainly have to, but the Brazilian's strategy from here on in, is not as clear-cut.
40/56 The visibility out there really is shocking, as Mark Webber pits from holding the lead, to give Button the lead. Vettel meanwhile, posts a fastest lap.
39/56 Webber has a 9-second lead over Button in second, who has Vettel in close attendance. Alonso's spin at turn 13 has seen him drop from fifth to 13th.
38/56 Fernando Alonso spins horribly in his Renault, as Vettel is +2.224 behind Button now in third.
37/56 Vettel pits now, with all eyes on the Red Bull driver as he takes 9.2 seconds, before emerging back in third behind Button, with Webber out in front.
37/56 Bourdais spins out of control, as Kubica pits to address that front wing problem.
36/56 Kubica, who is in tenth spot, has his front wing lose and dragging on the ground. Vettel and Webber trade fastest lap as they stretch their lead at the front.
36/56 Rosberg preys on Heidfeld, as Alonso pits from fifth for a second time, and exits in ninth.
35/56 Kovalainen follows Hamilton into the pits from fourth, the final driver to take a stop in this race.
34/56 Hamilton pits from fourth, and exits in eighth on lap 34, as Mark Webber records a second fastest lap.
33/56 Nakajima pits from 16th, while Hamilton will also need to pit soon from fourth. Webber is pushing hard, but he is a full 18 seconds behind his team-mate, Vettel.
32/56 Alonso finally passes Buemi for seventh - that was always coming. Replays show Webber's pass on Button, and it was very similar to Hamilton's on Raikkonen earlier, in turn seven.
31/56 Bourdais pits from 11th, as Webber re-takes Button in an ongoing battle between the pair for second spot - every mistake is being capitalised upon, and there are numerous errors out there.
31/56 Button overtakes Webber as the Red Bull driver errs and drifts off the track with a very poor turn to let the Brawn driver back in.
30/56 Raikkonen is in 15th, and is unlikely to have to stop again according to indications from Ferrari. The weather seems to be getting worse as Vettel consolidates his lead.
30/56 Piquet has a problem in the pits, and his earlier accident is compounded by a dreadful stop.
29/56 That was a mistake from Button, as he afforded Webber the space to pass him into second place behind his team-mate Vettel. So, it's a Red Bull one-two as we stand.
28/56 Piquet enters the pits to get the front of his car seen to, as Webber dashes past Button, with the Brawn car drifting off the track briefly.
28/56 Sutil runs off the track with a lack of grip on his front tyres, Raikkonen exits the pits in 17th, while Nakajima has yet more trouble running wide once again.
27/56 Nelson Piquet collides with a barrier and sees his front wing and nose slightly damaged, but he continues.
27/56 Nakajima and Glock both have individual trouble as they briefly run wide, but press on undeterred. Raikkonen pits for Ferrari.
26/56 Kubica is scrapping it out ferociously with the Force India duo at the back, while Alonso has Buemi firmly in his sights, stalking his prey.
25/56 Glock picks up a new wing, and is back out, with Vettel absolutely flying out in front in his Red Bull.
25/56 Button is under pressure from Webber, while Glock pits from ninth after sustaining front left-wing damage.
24/56 Vettel pulled four seconds on Button in the previous lap, while Hamilton was executing a classic manouevre, passing Raikkonen on the outside.
24/56 So Sebastian Vettel still leads the China Grand Prix, with Button and Webber behind him.
23/56 Bourdais spins out of eighth spot as he simply loses grip altogether and lurches to the right of the track. Alonso, meanwhile, passes Nakajima.
23/56 The safety car departs the scene once more, as Hamilton takes advantage of the green flag in passing Raikkonen for a third time in this race!
22/56 Piquet pits now, as Massa is officially out of the race and now has no points from three races so far this season.
22/56
The safety car remains out, patrolling the field, but it looks like the race will start again soon for a second time.
21/56
Felipe Massa looks furious as he is forced out of the race on the back straight, from third place. What a disaster for the Ferrari driver!
21/56
So Vettel, who was also hit by Buemi, leads Button, then Massa, Webber, Raikkonen, Hamilton, and Barrichello.
21/56 Jarno Trulli has an enforced retirement following his extensive rear-wing damage, and leaves the track forlonly.
20/56
Button now pits himself, along with Barrichello; meanwhile, Buemi pits from fifth spot as a result of his rear-wing damage.
20/56
Heidfeld pits from 18th; Button will lose his 14-second advantage.
19/56
The safety car is back out as the rain is incessant. Buemi has lost his rear wing, while Trulli had his smashed emphatically in that clash with Kubica.
18/56 Button leads Barrichello by 13 seconds, with Vettel a further three seconds back. Kubica pits his BMW, after that collision with Trulli.
18/56 Nakajima runs wide in 13th and loses ground, while Jarno Trulli is rammed by Robert Kubica, who was surprised by the Toyota's lack of pace going into the turn.
17/56 Piquet has dropped back, under pressure from Fisichella, while Raikkonen is back ahead of Hamilton as the MacLaren driver endures another adventure, swerving wide.
16/56 Hamilton has had a tumultuous race already, moving up, dropping down, and now moving back up to eighth.
16/56 Hamilton passes Raikkonen again in lap 16 as Buemi and Massa jostle for fourth spot.
15/56 Sebastian Vettel now pits, and subsequently drops to third, with a Brawn one-two now leading the race. The Red Bull driver was 11 seconds ahead of Button, though.
15/56 Webber pits from second now, as he exits ahead of Trulli and Raikkonen.
14/56 Massa now passes Trulli as the Brazilian begins to make his presence known.
14/56 Heidfeld looked to have been clipped by Glock, who turned in and sent the Williams car spinning.
13/56 Buemi passes Trulli as he moves swiftly into fifth spot - what a start he has had. Nick Heidfeld is having more problems, seemingly with his wing as he is left stationary.
12/56 Hamilton, having spun slightly as he darted out wide, losing control, slips to 12th, as Buemi continues his powerful start to the race.
12/56 Hamilton runs wide at the final turn as he looks to have a mechancal problem with his Maclaren, while Button moves past his Brawn team-mate Barrichello as the Brazilian runs wide.
11/56 Button is ten seconds off the lead at present, as Buemi moves up into seventh with a fine move on the inside.
11/56 Heidfeld runs off the track at turn one, as Hamilton passes Trulli as he continues his impressive start.
10/56 Raikkonen appears to be struggling, after Hamilton's pass, Buemi is putting him under pressure, before the Toro Rosso driver runs wide at the final turn and loses ground.
10/56 That move from Hamilton has really jolted Raikkonen, as Vettel leads Webber, then Barrichello and Button.
10/56 Caution is the prevailing attitude at the moment, as Buemi can't get near Raikkonen, who is pressing hard now.
9/56 Raikkonen puts Hamilton under intense pressure from the inside, but the Maclaren driver remains unscathed in seventh spot.
9/56 Finally, the safety car leaves the scene to the relief of everyone, and the race for real is underway.
8/56 The safety car will come in at the end of this lap - Alonso's pit stop might prove to be a prudent decision.
8/56 The officials must make a decision imminently as this race seems interminably waiting for conditions which are not ceasing.
7/56 Alonso pits from second place, as his nine laps of fuel is obviously not quite sufficient; but it looks to have been a successful stop, with visibility his major obstacle in marauding through the field.
7/56 There is no change with the safety car patrolling the race, while Williams adjust to their change of strategy with Rosberg having pitted early.
6/56
Sutil has set the fastest time for the first sector, with Vettel topping the second, as a quick look to the stands sees a multitude of umbrellas. The safety car stays out.
6/56
Nico Rosberg pits from seventh, who was on a three-stop strategy anyway, as the teams frantically study their monitors as they look to second-guess the conditions.
6/56
Alonso tells his team that it is fine to race out there, and that he is eager for the safety car to make a swift (well, semi-swift) exit.
5/56 Sutil pits from 18th, with absolutely nothing to lose from doing so. Raikkonen replicates Massa's veer off to the right into the final turn.
5/56
All the talk as you would expect, centers around the strategy of the pit-stops, with the conditions getting worse if anything. The safety car continues to temper proceedings.
4/56 Sutil takes evasive action onto the grass to avoid hitting the rear of Piquet, as the treacherous conditions continue to play havoc.
4/56 The order is the same as in qualifying to remind you, as Vettel tells his team that it is okay to race out there - the Red Bull driver is clearly as anxious as anyone, raring to go.
3/56 Alonso is believed to be the first driver to have to pit, on lap nine or ten, as Massa rejoins after his brief aberration in the last lap - the Ferrari team tell him to keep his tyres as warm as possible.
3/56 Massa seems to be having problems with his brakes as he swerves to keep control of his Ferrari. Vettel receives orders from his team to keep in control, with the rain seemingly unrelenting.
2/56
The rain continues to teem down as the safety car remains out, with Vettel stalking it as they come round in order.
1/56
Vettel leads behind the safety car from Alonso, Webber, Barrichello, Button, Trulli, Rosberg and Raikkonen.
- Robert Kubica and Timo Glock will start from the pit lane - remember there is no formation lap, the race begins as soon as the safety car pulls away.
- There are some areas of standing water and full wet tyres are the only choice. It is very windy as well and rather unpleasant for drivers and fans alike.
-
It has been raining all morning, the track is wet and the Chinese Grand Prix will start behind the safety car.
- German Sebastian Vettel is on pole position for the third round of what has been a topsy-turvy season with Jenson Button, who won the first two races, fifth on the grid.

In the last few years, I've begun changing my allegiance from F1 to MotoGp. It's different, but 20 times more exciting. With Brawn's rise this year, I'm hoping it will be more open. But it's still an overpriced non-event now.
What a joke. Alonso is gonna pit behing the safety car. Let them race for god sake. As for the racist @#$% davemoyise u comments are not welcome in here
F1 has the most incredible action, fast, no-holds barred, pure octane....oh wait...boring as hell. Same as the last race.
Can we talk about this , who cares !
C'mon let them race!!!This is a farce!!!Schumi in weather like this was going like a good!!!
