- Join us again at 13:00 for Free Practice 2.
- So your final top 10: 1. J Button Brawn 2. J Trulli Toyota 3. R Kubica BMW Sauber 4. N Heidfeld BMW Sauber 5. K Nakajima Williams 6. N Rosberg Williams 7. N Piquet Jr Renault 8. T Glock Toyota 9. F Massa Ferrari 10. R Barrichello Brawn
- Nick Heidfeld jumps into fourth now - so some nice late laps from the BMW team.
10:30 Time up so we are on the last set of laps - AND JENSON BUTTONG GOES FASTEST - 1:21.799 on soft tyres.
10:29 BMW finally wake up! Robert Kubica goes SECOND FASTEST. Maybe softer tyres and a low fuel thanks can explain that time.
10:27 Very close overall just 1.3 seconds between Trulli and 20th placed Sutil.
10:25 Just five minutes to go now - Button has just timed 1:22.583 which is still a good bit back of Trulli.
10:22 Piquet now up to fourth! Big performance from him and Raikkonen has jumped from 20th to seventh. Hamilton has also just cracked the top 10.
10:20 Nelson Piquet Jr has jumped from 19th to seventh (faster than Alonso). With Glock having moved up to fourth that means 5-7 are all Brazilians. Massa then Barrichello and then Piquet.
10:19 Heidfeld finally produces a lap to get him off the bottom of the time sheets - he is now 14th which means Kimi Raikkonen is slowest.
10:18 Jarno Trulli now tops the time sheets with a really quick 1:22.154 - he did that on harder tyres.
10:16 Massa has just put back on his helmet so it looks like we will see him again.
10:15 Vettel looks very tempted to overtake Buemi in the pit lane before thinking better of it.
10:12 Vettel back out after that spell licking his wounds and he has gone eight fastest.
10:09 Interesting to see that the Toro Rosso's are going better than their bigger brothers at Red Bull. Bourdais (eight) and Buemi (11th) ahead of Webber (13th) and Vettel (15th) next comes Alonso who is down the rankings.
10:05 Nico Rosberg has gone faster than Massa and into second. Massa meanwhile has his helmut off and is in the garage so he could be done for the morning.
10:03 Hamilton moves up to 10th with his best lap of the day. Vettel still stuck in the garage after his trip into the gravel.
10:02 Down in 18th is Kimi Raikkonen but Massa is still second - mixed results for the new look Ferrari team so far so.
10:00 The McLarens are not really getting much going. Hamilton has just posted 1:24.277 but that is only good enough for 16th while Kovalainen is 19th.
09:56 Jenson Button goes fastest with a lap of 1:22.626 although by all accounts he went out with a low fuel tank.
09:55 With 35 minutes to go the current order is: 1 F Massa Ferrari 2 R Barrichello Brawn 3 J Trulli Toyota 4 J Button Brawn 5 K Nakajima Williams 6 T Glock Toyota 7 N Rosberg Williams 8 M Webber Red Bull 9 S Bourdais Toro Rosso 10 G Fisichella Force India 11 S Vettel Red Bull 12 F Alonso Renault 13 R Kubica BMW Sauber 14 A Sutil Force India 15 L Hamilton McLaren 16 K Raikkonen Ferrari 17 S Buemi Toro Rosso 18 N Piquet Jr Renault 19 H Kovalainen McLaren 20 N Heidfeld BMW Sauber
09:54 Sebastien Vettel understeers wide on one corner and ends up in the gravel. He has the 11th best time so far.
09:54 We are not ones to start spreading rumours - we let our readers do that for us. Johnny Bop says: "Toyota have just posted a 3.3 Billion euro loss. Looks like Toyota might be the next team to pull out of F1. Just to let you know this has just appeared on German TV news."
09:51 Button now third and Barrichello fourth but Trulli has jumped back into second. Massa still on top though.
09:51 Jenson Button has just produced a 1:23.114 which is the fourth best time today as the Brawns start to show some muscle.
09:50 Also some good signs from the Force India team with Fisichella (seventh) and Sutil (ninth) so far.
09:48 Williams are going very well today - Nakajima has gone second fastest and Rosberg is still third.
09:48 GOOD NEWS FERRARI FANS - Massa has gone fastest. 1:22.855 is the time. Interestingly his team-mate Raikkonen is way back in 17th with his new lighter chassis.
09:44 Nico Rosberg has now gone fastest - 1:23.122.
09:42 Hamilton has had his first couple of laps but is down 10th in te times sheets - the track is getting a bit busier now. Kimi Raikkonen comes out for the first time.
09:39 Niko Rosberg in his Williams has split the Toyotas and is second in the timesheets. Still lots of the big boys still to come out though.
09:36 Heidfield comes out as we get a first look at the BMW's but he is nearly four and half seconds behind Trulli who has just posted a 1:23.479.
09:33 And Glock then goes 1:23.924 - hard to tell with nobody else out at the moment but promising signs for Toyota.
09:32 Trulli cracks below 1:24 one lap later with an effort of 1:23.946.
09:31 A lot faster from Toyota driver Timo Glock who times 1:24.601 and then Jarno Trulli beats his team-mate with a 1:24.475
09:29 Bourdais, with a new front wing on his Toro Rosso, times 1:29.551
09:26 Hurrah! We have a car on the track! Toro Rosso's Sebastien Bourdais is on the track.
09:23 A lot of people sniffing around the BMW garage trying to have a look at their car. They have a new front wing, nose cone, engine cover and a COMPLETELY new rear wing. It will be interesting to see how they get on.
09:20 Of course - we love a bit of banter between fans too. Leave your comments below. Hank "nobody ever picks Italy" Scorpio has already come up with another decent stat saying: "Interesting that Massa is the only non world champion to win this race in the last 20 years!"
09:18 And if you want some details about the track. Find all you need to know here. Barcelona: Circuit guide
09:17 Still all in the garage so how about some stats? Of the last 18 races held here 14 have been won by the driver on poll. That nugget and more can be found here
09:13 Ferrari will hope to get back in the reckoning this weekend with a revamped aerodynamic package incorporating a similar 'double-deck' rear diffuser to the one used to such telling effect by Brawn. They also have a new, lighter chassis for 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen. unashamedly stolen from our race preview
09:10 Rubens Barrichello is the last one out for his little taster lap but we will now probably have a spell of inactivity for about 20 minutes or so.
09:09 Seeing who performs well here could be crucial when it comes to picking your fantasy team this week. Find more advice here
09:05 Lots of changes in the cars expected this weekend - most people having been poking their heads into the Ferrari garage trying to sneak a peak at whatever modifications they have made.
09:03 Most of the cars just going out for a feeler lap but Sebastien Vettel for a moment looks like he is going to go on a flying lap. He puts his foot off the gas in the final third of the lap though.
09:00 So we are on the clock and straight away Timo Glock decides to go out and he is followed by a gaggle of others.
08:57 But Kimi Raikkonen is the defending champion at Montmelo and Fernando Alonso has the all-important home crowd cheering him on
08:56 Brawn GP's Jenson Button leads the way in the drivers championship with 31 points, having won three of the first four races this season

GO FERRARI !!!!!! Michael C.
Rock, yes so according to you, you are only as good as the car beneath you and Jensen would have given Lewis a run for his money last year in the same car, right. But I seem to remember that last year Lewis had team mate anyway so if you are only as good as the car, where was Lewis's team mate last year. And if you are only as good as the car beneath you then Jensen is only doing well this year because of the car beneath him. Which means he is no better then Lewis. And every winner of F1 throughout history has only won because he had a better car beneath him. So according to you the drivers count for nothing so why do you bother being a Jensen fan, it's the car and not the driver. Every team has two drivers and one always does better then other.
