  3. 59' Fernando Alonso (1:27.172) goes second in his final lap!

  4. 58' Raikkonen is really driving the car into the corner, really struggling out there, and is still tenth. A disappointing showing for the Championship leader heading into today's qualifying.

  5. 57' Mark Webber (1:27.030) overtakes his team-mate Coulthard to go top of the timesheets! Red Bull are having a spectacular day!

  6. 55' Raikkonen's 1:27.924 is only good for tenth fastest so far today with five minutes left in this practice session.

  7. 54' Raikkonen goes off of the track on his first turn, and the Ferrari driver is struggling today - now on a softer tyre.

  8. 50' David Coulthard (1:27.340) has just posted the best time! The 37-year-old Scot has put in a barnstorming performance thus far today. We'll soon see how that extends over to qualifying at noon.

  9. 50' Current order: 1. Massa 2.Webber 3.Hamilton 4.Coulthard 5.Alonso

  10. 48' In our exclusive interview with Webber, which you can read by clicking on our F1 page, the Australian actually said he was hoping the weather would play a factor this weekend: "I don't think a particular track would make any difference to me winning but something like changing weather conditions could play a factor."

  11. 46' Good news for Australian fans, as Mark Webber has gone fastest just 0.019 seconds off of Massa's leading pace. The Red Bull driver's father is in the crowd this weekend to cheer on his son, and he definitely was just given something to cheer.

  12. 43' The skies are getting darker, a foreboding sign for qualifying.

  13. 39' Ferrari's Felipe Massa (1:27.530) is fastest now from Hamilton, and then David Coulthard and Kovalainen.

  14. 37' Another improved top time of 1:27.658 for Lewis Hamilton, as the Briton's McLaren team-mate Heikki Kovalainen goes sixth. The Finn, of course, lucky to even be racing today after his terrifying crash at the Spanish GP two weeks ago.

  15. 35' Jenson Button eighth in his latest lap.

  16. 33' Kimi Raikkonen meanwhile, has improved his opening lap by some margin to move into fifth.

  17. 33' And the times continue to tumble, as Hamilton goes into the top spot with a lap of 1:28.070.

  18. 30' Hamilton now second fastest behind Fernando Alonso (1:28.165), in 1:28.169. He is currently on an eight-lap stint.

  19. 30' And the Ferraris are finally on the track after waiting in the garage longer than any of the other teams. Raikkonen goes ninth fastest in his opening lap as it appeared as though he was having trouble getting pressure to his tyres there.

  20. 27' Nico Rosberg takes the fastest lap in his first go at 1:28.734, about 0.128 faster than Hamilton.

  21. 25' Sebastien Bourdais is the first to spin out, as the French Toro Rosso driver finishes a good 20 seconds off pace in his first lap.

  22. 24' Despite losing time throughout his lap, Lewis Hamilton comes up with a solid time of 1:29.144 (244km/hour), about sixth tenths faster than Glock, though much slower than his second-placed 1:27.579 yesterday.

  23. 21' Still on the intermediate tyres due to the rain on the track, Toyota' Timo Glock is giving it a go nonetheless and he comes up with an opening time of 1:30.427. That compared to 1:28.849 that Glock had as his best time in yesterday's free practice. Those final turns are far more difficult due to the damp today.

  24. 15' A new forecast is in: Rain is expected to return at midday, which could spell problems for the qualifying session, which is set to start at noon British Standard Time.

  25. 9' Toyota's Jarno Trulli, who finished seventh in yesterday's second practice session, on race radio: "The last few corners are extremely wet."

  26. 1' Championship leader and defending champion Kimi Raikkonen set the pace in yesterday's free practice, so we'll see what Ferrari can do today.

  27. 0' The green light is on, and the final free practice is underway!

  28. 08:59 Despite some dampness on the course due to earlier rain, the current weather forecast is good as the skies are clear, and no rain is expected in Istanbul with temperatures hovering around 16 degrees Celsius.
